Black market skin - Captivate General

I've used a black and also a black/blue themed market. I installed it recently. Using Root man. I dropped it into ex-sd then from there placed it in System/app and let it overwrite the Vending.apk. It worked and looked great. I shut down the phone and when restarted, it was back to standard green. How do I stop this, so it stays black?

You will need an updated themed market. everytime the market is updated you will lose any custom theme you have unless you freeze the updater but that could cause issues in its self. Your best bet is to see if the one that made theme has an updated version.

Was there an update today? Ive been working on a theme and kept flashing it today, but my market kept turning back to the usual green.

It happens to mine periodically, I just keep the zip file downloaded now in case it happens again

Puffinugz try removing the market updates. Manage apps and uninstall updates. Then install your themed market. Having any updates installed will cause your market to revert, sometimes the updates are stoted under data/apps. So id remove any market related content from there as well.

What are the updates getting me? Are they necessary? Not quite sure I understand the removal process and that would only be good until the next update....Correct?

Each update fixes things and sometimes brings new features. You can stop it from updating by freezing the market updater or yes everytime the market updates you will lose any market theme you have. That goes for other programs as well like gmail. Normally the themed apks get updated soon after they come out so should not be long.

2.3.3 is the latest.

Blue Market

Alright, I grabbed a few of the different blue market apks, and pushed them to my phone, but then my market turns back green if I goto application and clear data on the app it returns to blue anyway to fix this?

Shore, I can help. The reason that your Market keeps going from blue to green is that Google recently updated their Market app. from rev 1710 to 1713. Your phone automatically receives the update, and when it does it goes from blue to green. Theres no way to pull the uddated apk out of the phone as far as I know. To get the blue back got to Manage Applications>Market>Uninstall Updates. It'll turn back to blue. For some reason, this sticks better if you're not using a2sd. Dont know why, atoz350 discovered that and I have found it to be true.
So is it just stored somewhere different or are the updates in the dalvik or what?

worked perfect for me thanks so much
Alright figured it out, it installs the updated apk to /data/app so I edited it and resigned it attempted to resign at least, pushed it back to /data/app/com.android.vending.apk got a force close I guess my resign didn't work as I took the res folder from the old apk and replaced it, So I rm'd the apk in /data/app and pushed the new edited one to /system/app/ and it force closed aswell I have included the new market.apk for someone to fix because I have failed horribly.

You can't resign it. Just take the original file, edit the pngs and close the apk. If you resign it, you'll get a FC.
Yea I tried without resigning it Im fairly new to theme, I moved the res folder from the old to the new and it still FC's

The reason it kept fc'ing was because you cant just exchange the res folders. There are more files contained in the updated version than in our previous one. That being said, here is the updated Market app.

New Market, 3.1.5 (09/22/2011), Works great on tablets

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, the new market apk that was posted up yesterday, version 3.1.5, works awesome on the Transformer. No FC's, we can finally rate an app from the market, feels much more intuitive than stock market, and much smoother/better optimized for tablet than 3.1.3.
Check it out here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272152

It doesn't give me the option to and I'm on a B70 later model so I have no root access.
The reason you're getting two is because they're different package names. If you're rooted, delete the original. If not, you're stuck with both... But hey, you've always got the option to delete the new one.

"tablet market"? my version is missing the 'staff picks for tablets'. have I downloaded the wrong 3.1.5 version?
also, my icon was replaced by this update but the app remains on the system, so only one visible in apps.

Same here. My new market looks quite different
I feel the UI is actually a bit more cluttered than the stock market app. I have gotten a few FC on this one already.
Does anybody have the apk of the market that came with the Transformer?
The UI seems really cluttered with this. Maybe I'm just not used to it... but it does look like things are stretched/not placed correctly, you can clearly see this on the My Apps screenshot. I don't think this is 100% optimized for tablets and I hope this is the reason why it hasn't been officially pushed to our devices.

[R800x][Theme] ICS (Stock 2.3.3)

Version 1.0 is out will update pics tomorrow
Image below is that of my first release.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
What it has:
-Ics styled notification bar(almost done ran into a hickup with the images)
-Roboto font
-Ics animations
-Ics bootanimation
-New signal meter
What needs to be done:
-Replace the rest of the images in the framework and systemui that are not the same as the ics images
-possibly theme some of the apps
How to install:
Transfer the theme to the root of your sd-card.
To install you must have clockwork recovery dont need an unlocked bootloader to get it go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390771
If you already have it or when you get it do a backup of what you have im not going to be held responsible for your lack of backing up and you not wanting the theme anymore. Or your bricking, breaking, exploding, impoloding, or someone stealing your device.
After BACKING UP!!!!!!! Install the zip it has worked for me three times(wanted to make sure it worked) reboot and enjoy
Hope you enjoy!!
In version 1.0 i fixed the unreadable menu bug looks less like ics now but is easier to use. I'm waiting on feedback from the developer of apktool before I go any further with this theme this is the final build until I figure out why the framework wont decompile and compile correctly.
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?odf2ocuo0kup0o6
Here is V1.0 the updated version
http://www.mediafire.com/?mxm511q9vj33r98
If you want the bootanimation flash the previous build followed by this one and it should work if not let me know.
Known Issues:
-When downloading or playing music the text is black and very unreadable.
-Not all of the blue matches
Will try this next week. Glad the x is getting some more love.
I'm going to try and do a lot for it
Keep working bud! I would love this! First time getting a custom theme... does it delete my data and I have to make a nandroid first?

There is an update up
Just flashed it over. Looks pretty good! The menu labels however are black on black, meaning I can't read them. When I go into Gmail, select to change the labels of an email. A list pops up but I can't read what any of them say.
EDIT: Also the menu that comes up when you long-press the homescreen can't be read.
What do you mean long press I did it and could read it I'll revert the menu changes back or look for how to change menu txt color
Edit nvm I know what you're taking about was thinning the home key lol. The issue is I need to change the pop up window txt color and menu txt color I think.

[Q] Unable to install downloaded apk, can't press install button

Hi guys
need some advice here.
I've been installing apk file from dropbox for testing purpose for few weeks. Occasionally I couldn't press the install button (on the install screen), but it resolved itself after few attempts.
However, it doesn't seem to work any more. I just can't press the install button, but OK for the Cancel button. I've tried restarting with/without pulling out the battery. It still doesn't work.
Have googled the issue, only able to find this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150096
But I don't have screen filter app installed, so that doesn't explain my issue.
Anyone have the same issue and know how to fix it?
Much appreciated.
Cheers
Tony
PS. Im installing from dropbox.
When you say you are installing from drop box I take it you are using the Drop Box app. If so I would just try to install by opening your favored file explorer app, mine is Astro File explorer. Anyway find it with the file explorer and then try to install it that way. Or you can uninstall the Drop Box app and then reinstall it. Maybe something has gone wrong with the app. Just a quick suggestion.

Thanks for everyone replies. Problem resolved
Yeah it's a bug that you get with apps like Lux and Screen Filter. Somewhere within Lux there is a setting that lets you exclude certain apps and I think within the most recent build of the app it will automatically disable itself when you install an application
For what's it worth:
I've had the same issue when using JuiceDefender.
I've granted Juice Defender acces to controll the brightness of the screen, because the auto brightness control in my HTC One X is too bright.
This caused the same problem!
After disabling Juice Defender's auto brightness, the installation of app's works as usual.
Grtz,

Have you tried Fix permissions from CWM Recovery?
If so, and it's still not fixed...you need to backup your SDcard, format it, let it reinstall itself once on Android and bam.
IF STILL NOTHING, you may need to go a step further...ODIN to KJ2, clear cache partition and dalvik cache, fix permissions (just to be safe), check your mounts, then flash. Enable Wi-Fi on Default so the ROM can download the update from Android Market to Google Play after your first reboot. IF THERE'S STILL AN ISSUE AFTER THIS, sorry it has me stumped.
Ok let's get this straight.
This happened to everyone with the market first switched to Google Play, the icon on your homescreen will change to that because the system can no longer find the application Market.apk, but in your app drawer the play store will be there. Just move the play store to a shortcut on your homescreen. The reason that it comes back when u reflash is because you are just reflashing the old, unupdated market, then when you open it again it will delete the Market.apk and install the play store.

I have had apps dissappear from the phone, leaving only a generic green android icon in it's place. I am not sure why this happens, but it usually seems to be after an abnormal reboot. I was thinking it could have something to do with the the SK's seemingly sloppy implementation of putting apps on the sdcard, but the market app is probably stored on the phone, so I dunno.
anyway, were you able to get it back?
