this is the white version with a little photoshop editing you should pretty easily be able to get a PSD template to use to make your own in what ever color you want. If you truly dont know how to do this let me know and i will make you one real quick to make it easy to do your own
Nice, thank you.
I see they aren't standard android apps tho =(
I'll browse and see what I come up with. I appreciate the link !
**edit**
Yes, any help you can give would be great, I have never made icons and don't have any software for it. I'd like to give it a go tho so I can make some android icons out of these.
I made a quick Photoshop Template. I believe you can open it in GIMP as well (a free image editing software) You should be able to use it to create this effect simply by using the top layer template to make a selecting of the filled in area and then deleting that selection on the icon you want to use. This may seem confusing if you dont have a lot of experience but its pretty simple. I put 2 examples in it as well. Just remember to always save it as a .png if you want it to be an icon and keep the clear background.
If you still have problems PM me and i will try to write out a more in depth tutorial ( i use photoshop personally so I may have to download gimp and play around to get specific)

Thanks again, I'll google Gimp and see what I come up with. I'm really just after gmail and maps so I should be able to google Gimp and see what I come up with. I appreciate the help =)
No problem If those are the only two you want and dont figure it out I can just make them for you. I think you should try first as a good way to learn if you are interested in making icons in the future makes a great starting point for you.
Good Luck with it!

Yea, I'm playing with it now... prolly gonna take a while to figure it out lol.
I tried to save the pandora icon you sent but it became blurry and didn't look right for some reason
Would you mind making those 2 for me while I play with this? I'll just use yours in my set and try to figure out how to work gimp with them as well.
Where did it become blurry. I resized the img to 72 x 72 pixels which is the standard icon size so it is possible it looks blurry when blown up but should look fine as an icon on your phone. I will work on those 2 and get you them in a minute

I was playing with it in gimp, and I done something to mess it up. Just not sure what it was I did lol
ah well its all part of learning just dont save the PSD file while it is messed up. See attached for 2 different Gmails, a Maps and the pandora one. Sorry took so long am at work and had to finish something up. I also threw in the PSD with these new icons saved inside it as well as more examples.
Enjoy

I agree, they look really good on the phone up against the right kind of wallpaper.
I use ADW ex and delete the app name so it only shows the icon, works for me. I'll try to figure out how to make a full set, but this Gimp program is funky for me. =p

man you have talent! can you make some nice picture that will look nice on today screen with htc homeplug?
It's actually hard to create decent looking backgrounds with the touch today plugin, It blocks alot of the background.
This is what I have to go along with splash screens above.

Hey envmyz, would it be possible to get that background you created? Its really nice and clean and I want to use it on both my Wizard and my Hermes.

Go install a free copy of GIMP for Windows. Isn't the most friendly program but works great when you figure it out. Easily lets you convert files between different graphic formats just by opening it, and then doing a save as and changing the extension. It will do the necessary conversions for you (changing to index, removing transparency, etc based on what the new format does or doesn't support).

Hey guys, I get the problem that if I slide out my keyboard and the screen rotates, the background doesnt strech all the way over the screen, but I get one and a half backgrounds next to each other. This of course looks pretty crappy. Do more people have this problem, am I doing something wrong of is the file not set up to handle landscape mode of the device?
Something else, does anybody know if you can get a background file out of a theme (.tsk)? I've got a theme with a really nice background, but the rest of the theme sucks. I now want to use the standard WM6 theme with this background, but is there any way to retrieve this from the theme file?
Cheers

The reason it doesn't stretch is because these graphics are 240x320. You need either a 320x320 so that it will work in both portrait and landscape or both a 240x320 and a 320x240 version.
As for extracting the background, yes its easy... A .tsk is the same as a .cab, so use a tool to open it (cabwuz, or there is a free cab tool inside the core kitchen). In there you will find the stwater (and possibly tdywater) bitmap files. These are the backgrounds...

Well have you read the "HOW TO" file?
That should explain on how to do it.
I don't know any other way to do it to be honest with you.
You could ask around what other programs let you edit PSD files so you can make your own icons.
Yes I did but that doesn't really tell me anything. I "found" a copy of Photoshop so after it's done downloading, I will give it a shot. Basically all I want to know how to do is change the colors and make a new one should I feel like it.

You only need the absolute basic photoshop skills to edit these.
Easy to pick up when you read through tutorials.

Yeh they look small on any phone, it's just how android resizes the icons.
But I think they look fine on my HTC Desire.

I've changed the PSD size to 72x72 now
I posted this in the other section. I used an icon pack from the market, changed the package name, icon, app name and background color and added his icons.
Too keep it up to date its simple, just open the zip, and insert ur new icons inside the "assets\icons" folder and just resign the apk.
Link
Can anybody post the 72x72 canvas icons already done? I'm on linux and i'd like to keep my pc win programs free
A little while back I posted this theme and got a lot of pm's and request for it so I figured it would be easier to just do a thread.

Ok. Here are all the icons for this.
http://www.mediafire.com/?t1oc5n1libbglan
And here are a couple wallpapers done with the overlay. Don't mind the right edge of some, it won't show up when you set it. Make sure you disable wallpaper scrolling with LauncherPro and set it to 5 icon rows.
http://www.mediafire.com/?kkiq25z988lv37v
Now, to set this up, you will need Desktop Visualizer, Smart Shortcuts (if you want the "folder" popups when you click the page name), and LauncherProPlus to resize the big icons unless you use a smaller size which might not look as good. Use DV to set the shortcuts as widgets. All of them are sized 2x1 except the big one. Set the big one first otherwise you won't have room in the end before resizing.
Edit: Forgot to post the dock earlier. It's a slightly modified version of the Weiss dock.

Edit 9/16/10: The images are now hosted on my dropbox account. Figured it would be easier than constantly zipping these up. Added a few new wallpapers and icon colors. http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/10931401/3/Android/Themes/ArtistikkEvoV1?h=b51619

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I have spent many a sleepless night working on this and it is a few boredom filled days away from initial release, but far from completion. I am looking for feedback! If you don't like something, tell me and I'll look into it.
This started out being a Steampunk theme, and I think keeps the basics of it, but is not full out Steampunk.
It will be for most roms using the VillainTheme system, not theme chooser. There will not be a battery % displayed in the status bar, just the images as normal.
BEFORE YOU POST, CHECK THE SECOND POST FOR THINGS I'M CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIX / EDIT.
Pay no attention to the LauncherPro dock and icons at the bottom and let us begin...

Misc
Also changed a couple of icons. What do you guys think; change them automatically or let you change them using adw or whatever?
Code:
8/23/11 Uploaded initial test release.
Suggestions so far:
Rounded corners on tabs.
Get rid of antique phone icons.
The maindock area reminds me of starcraft
Antique phones
I don't dig the antique phone icons, especially the grey one used in image #5 for the phone tab / dialer.
Also, I think you should make rounded corner tabs instead of black/white gradient.
Looking forward to it.

Sweet man! Right now I can't think of anything, but if you are inspired to make anything, standard icons (I don't plan on theming app icons), or whatever. Let me know and I'll throw them in.
Keep up the good work...
I"m also looking into what files draw that button bar at the top of the contacts dialer. I couldn't find it by just looking at the .9.pngs, so next I"ll dig through the xml and find what drawables in calls to make that.
I'm getting the feeling that it may be in framework-res, though...if I find it, I'll share with ya.
It is in framework-res, I can't remember the names off the top of my head, something tab selected and unselected. Thanks man.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It looks like it's the tab_focused .9's in framework...if you change the shape of that, you'd have to know what else uses that drawable.
However, there is tab_pressed_bottom and such, in Contacts that will dictate a colored bar underneath your tabs when one is pressed.
I didnt' have much success changing the shape of the tabs...I mean, I can change the shape of them, but it just didn't look as good as I had hoped.
So what I did instead on mine, was made the tabs transparent...and then layered up the icons how I wanted them to look. That way, I can make the tab look any way I want.
Here's an example. I am toying around with the idea of making a rounded corner red border to each tab, something like what I attached.
I didn't mean to hijack your thread, I'm just hoping to be nearly as helpful to you as you were to me in the past.
It'd be pretty sweet to use this in the dialer.

Okay first lets start off on saying i am not responsible for your phone messing up or looking different nor is anyone else that is your fault
none of these zips are signed unfortunately when i tried it keeped messing up BUT YOU DONT NEED THEM SIGNED!!
red voodoo cwm just install them
if on yellow cwm [main menu> install zip> signature check> disable] now look for the zip and installPlease note this will make your phone stuff blue like nexus jb 1.3.1
if anyone would like to sign them for me id really appreciate it
Special thanks to:

Well, guess I didn't have to make it myself, immorality already done most of it, lol.
I'll be adding some other battery icon later in this thread, so that easier to everyone to search battery themes.
Yes it would be great an try to upload a pic of both the batter an the charging battery so people can see what it looks like (saves alot of time instead of flashing 10 different battery's)

okay i am thinking about taking this theming thread one step further and (copy and paste other peoples theme into a flash)
if i do end up doing this i will try to get the basic colors ex green, blue, red, yellow, brown, black/white and pink for the ladies c; ahah
anyone have any suggestions on colors i should do first IF i do try?
p.s. if i do this the batterys will not be changed as it will take awhle putting each battery into each theme so i will recommend either suggesting what you want an ill upload it real fast or USING ROM TOOLBOX
Sounds like fun! You should consider learning how to use the kitchen for some relatively easy theming. It takes a little to get used to it but you caught on real quick so I'm sure you could learn this as well.
Maybe see if ricandroid has some free time (I know his busy with life right now) and see if he would work on a project with you, his theming skills are up there with the best of them!
If not what you plan sounds like it would be well liked, I could help you create an aroma package if you would like that can allow the user to pick which theme to which icon to whatever. Nice but of course the best way is to learn which xml files to edit and allow them to be done within the ROM, a lot more work bit doable.
