I rooted with the Hack Kit and installed the inspired_dhd_vfr series ROM. I think the stock ROM had a Voice Dialer app, and I do not see this with this ROM? Did the ROM remove it, or was it not there in the first place? If the former, do I need to install a different ROM to get it back?
Thanks!
Moved to general as not android development

I'd like to install Android Contacts instead of (or plus) HTC Contacts.
I'v tryed to install a Contacts.apk (from Desire (not S) ROM "Ginger Villain 2.1" ), but it won't install (it worked for Gallery3Dm.apk ).
anyone got an idea ?
PS: my phone is not rooted and s-ON
thanks
since this is a sense rom you are running it is not possible to use the stock android apps without root.
the stock android contacts app is included in our system folder, but the sense contact app is a kind of overlay for the stock app. it´s based in the sense framework.
that means even with root it is very difficult to use stock apps instead of the sense counterpart.
i think it is easier to build a AOSP-based ROM than building a "de-sensed" ROM based on a sense ROM.

Hello friends,
I am new to this forum. I posses an Android 2.1 phone so Rom Manager isn't compatible with it. So, is there any method to upgrade to either froyo or gingerbread as my mobile company doesn't provide any upgrades. In particular i like the cyanogen mod so any method related to it would be appreciated.Help!!

I am also new here. Some tips i suggest
->First Search for your mobile in 'Type to find your device' box on the top.
->Go to 'Your mobile Android Development' section, here you find custom roms for your device.
->Go to any thread and you will find clear instructions on how to flash custom rom.
Hope this helps
HI everyone!
I just recently installed V20a lollipop on my phone via LG OTA update, rooted it using 1 click root and installed bootloader using the method found on the MLKernel thread (run batch file > installs chinese recovery > install app to install english philz).
I was wondering, can I flash another kind of 5.0 based ROM on top of what I have now? (rooted stock w/ recovery and custom kernel) or do I have to go through several hoops like bootloader unlock? I know for sure the Optimus G requires an unlocked bootloader (my phone before this).
I was planning on flashing a 5.0 ROM i found on a random site that's built like stock android (i love stock), but I'm not sure if there are any more pre-requisites before flashing.
ADDED:
Here's the link to the site i found: http://www.unlock-bootloader.info/mp3-0/lg-g-pro-2-6052.html
If it makes any difference, my device is the international D838 16gb version.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks
what kind of rom is this? stock with original lollipop theme?

I do not think its a genuine ROM. Following is the give away:-
In tutorial it says:-
1. Install the ROM Manager on your LG G Pro 2 . Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery. You also can use ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc.(Get it from Google Play Store).
ROM Manager is not compatible with GPRO2. You cannot install recovery like that on GPro 2
2. There is no AOSP/AOKP/CM/Google Stock (screenshots are for some CM type ROM) available for our device.
3. The link Tutorial Video : Easy Way To Download ROM mentioned on the page is a video for some survey filling tutorial.
Honestly I did not have the guts to check the download links.

Cyrus

I am biased, and there is no way to tell you the best ROM (very subjective).
Here is a recent review of the big three ROMs for this device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60489687&postcount=1054
Note that there was an unofficial build of CarbonROM that fixes the wakelock issue (as well as the datadata issue that was also patched in the other two ROMs).
To backup the original ROM, all you need is your recovery (CWM). but if you want to back up on an app-by-app basis (which is not what your question asks), the gold standard seems to be Titanium Backup.
Be sure to back up your EFS as well.
Hello all and good morning!
I am fairly new to custom ROM installing and cannot find any info (updated) on installing a custom ROM to my SGH-T599 device!!!:crying: I could really use some help as the stock ROM for this "Galaxy 3 mini" knockoffs stock ROM is horrible.
I do have ODIN installed (v3.10.6) but am lost as how to begin to use it.
Here are some questions I have:
-How to download custom ROM?
-Is a backup already on my phone?
-Which ROM is best? (and compatible)
Thanks in advance for any help
EDIT: If i could just have an app or program to completely change the UI of my phone that would work too
