This happened when I used the new market someone uploaded on CM7. As if "clear data" was done on the Market.
Titanium Market Doctor didn't fix it.
I redownloaded a TON of my apps to "fix" it, then a few minutes later, they all disappeared and showing install. Tried again and same thing, I got pissed and reverted my Nandroid back to old Market.
Note. It was the 2.2.10 I used, there's now a 2.2.11, wonder if that fixed it?
Nope I have 2.2.11

2.2.11 is supposed to be some kind of security fix.

I know that you said that you cleared the cache, but did you "clear data" as well? I think this is what I did last time mine acted up.
same issue here, I never use the market to look for an app updates anymore instead I tried to use App Update Notifier and it works just fine.

Clear data then restart the phone. This has fixed every market issue I've had yet.

Used the SGS tool script to reset the market and now its working fine again. Thanks for the suggestions everyone
this happens to me all the time... idk why
Have you tried downloading a small free app from the market? You can uninstall it right after, to see if it works. Whenever I flash a new ROM and restore apps with TiBu, the market doesn't see my restored apps. But, when I download a new app, the market then recognizes my restored ones. It's worth a shot and will only take a minute.
Edit: Sorry, didn't see you found out already, you're way is probably better too. >.<
I did do quite a bit of research on this, but cannot find any type of google contact number or android market support information.
recently uscellular sent me a replacement mesmerize. the new activation and restoration of data went very smoothly. but I'm not able to obtain latest version of android marketon the new phone. android market updated on my last mesmerize within the day. Its been a week now.
steps I have tried:
openmarket, hit home key, revisit market after 5 to 10 minutes
openmarket, open downloads, hit the home key, wait 5 to 10 minutes revisit the market
go to manage applications, market, clear cache, force stop, uninstall, whatever. Period. Et cetera. Period.
go to manage applications, market, 4 stop, reboot.
Android 2.2.1, samsung mesmerize (galaxy s)
can someone please help? thanks

If you go to settings what version does it show your market to be?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Market is 2.12, Market Updater is 1.0
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
The latest market is 2.3.6. When you get a update it doesn't go to system but to data. So in turn you will actually have two markets but it defaults to the latest. If you were rooted you could always move it to system so you didn't have two.
What it sounds like to me as this was a issue with on the desires on cm when the newest market was out. Everyone was trying to use a market from another phone. Where that wouldn't work due to a mismatched key. Though this would cause force closes.
If you don't get that boot to recovery pushing volume down and up follow by the power button. Let it flash samsung like twice and on the 2nd time where samsung is showing left off. Then perform a wipe on the phone. Then log in to the market. If on a stock rom you will get the old market. Once logging in go back out and let the syncing and such quit. It should then update your market to the latest.

On MIUI - had it pushed to me last week. At first I thought it was a pita to use.
But... after I played with it a bit I think I like it a lot better than the old market.
The only thing I don't like is that it is painful if your not on wireless and have a slow connection.
I am not liking the update at all....

I just got the update today. It feels very cramped and unorganized.
got mine last night sort of reminds me of the new windows 8 ui
running stock also but rooted
It showed up on mine this afternoon. It seems to purposely designed to avoid free apps.

Everyone was so excited when this was first announced.
They took out the option to disable the "updates available" notification.
Also youtube and flash player don't show up under "my apps" in the market anymore. If I search them, they say installed and allow updating that way

Edited: Not all phones play nice, I apologize.

For me, on my phone, clearing market cache and titanium market doctor/linking are not fixing it either.

Normally bugs don't affect every user/configuration. They would be quickly/easily fixed if they did. Just because the bug doesn't affect you doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
:edit:
www.google.com/support/androidmarket/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=known_issues.cs
Its at the top of the list of market issues. The problem is definitely real

So either I don't know how to use the internet or I'm the only person with this problem (on an evo shift, of course).
Tried everything I found on every site (even on different phones).
"Device not compatible with this version" error on most apps. The apps don't even show up in the play store when I search them, I have to find a link to the store online, then I get the error.
Info:
Evo Shift
CM7.2 RC2
I'm looking for a solution before I end up wiping it in frustration.
Suggestions?
Thanks.
What version of the Play Store do you have? Have you tried installing a different verson of the Play Store. Had something similar happen with a themed version.
Try flashing the latest google apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311342
Play store version 3.5.19
But that was just after I tried flashing that new gapps, still nothing.
Can't find a different version of just the play store...care to throw me a link?
yeah i had this issue before on my bionic not sure why it does this but try flashing again wipe etc.. and see if it is the same issue or try uninstalling updates on applicatoins "play store" etc... sometimes that fixes the problem..
Well, wiping it and re-flashing CM is gonna be my last resort.
Ill try it tomorrow if all else fails.
Tried downgrading, and now the apps (like facebook, instagram) show up in the market, but they're still "not compatible".

Settings -> Manage applications -> Play store -> Clear data
Try to releaunch Play store.
Tried that, cleared data, cleared every cache possible, tried several different gapps .zips, my phones getting sick of it so my journey is nearing its close.
I'm thinking its something to do with the play store reading my device as something its not, but in the settings everything checks out. (htc_speedy, etc.)

Are you using any kind of market unlock software that would spoof your device from a different provider?

Is your LCD density stock? Changing lcd density often causes play store issues. If it is you can try using the market enabler app to get access to the market. If that doesn't help try editing your build prop to spoof your phone as a nexus s as that is probably the compatible with the most apps.

Yeah when I first started having this problem I saw the lcd density solution on an Evo Design forum, and I had just recently set my density to 210, so I figured that was it. Changed it back, NADA.
But I changed my info to that of a nexus S and everything is working now. Thank you!!

No problem! I ran into that when I was running newSense a while back (bad flash I believe) and didn't feel like redownloading and reflashing the rom so edited the buildprop
when you changed density back, did you reboot/ clear cache and dalvik then clear market data? If not, then that probably still could have been the issue.

Oh yeah I cleared every cache I could possibly clear before I did that. I tried everything. Never even knew you could change that type of info, but I did it with ROM Toolbox Pro.
Quick question, although it belongs in another section, how do you like newSense? I'm looking for something new after having CM for over a year.

Its probably the best rom on the shift. The best combination of speed and and stability. Although its probably not as fast as a pure aosp build, the difference is negligible. Drob, onelove and dread deserve major props. Its my go to rom when I'm on my college campus... as its the only place in detroit with 4G lol
