Custom ROM with fully ROOTED rights - Defy Android Development

Hi everyone,
I came from Galaxy 3 and used SGS also and they both are good phones but not water proof So I change it to Defy but I miss some features which I got in SG3.
So I am mentioning some things which, if possible can be modded than the Defy Super Rocks.
First I badly need to have a clean build .sbf so that we can easily direct flash it through RSD
ROM with fully ROOTED rights. (because its very annoying to root using SuperOneClick)
Icons in notification are like I did in my Samsung Galaxy 3 or Galaxy S, as its really very handy to On/OFF the GPS, Blutooth and other.
1% battery icon. (not in my SG3 but want it in Defy)
Clean ROM only with these STOCK applications please
[STOCK] contacts, message, Music Player, Time, Gallery, Camera Camcoder, alarm & timer, Dialer, google search, Manage Sim Card, Market, Youtube, Phone portal.
[Add on] Super User, Defy Recovery, Root explorer, Skyfire Browser, Barcode scanner, SetCPU

With Zeam Launcher because its free and fast too.
Its really very useful if any of you people make this ROM.

Are the switchers in the pull down menu a feature of Zeam or some app we could use with other launchers?

They are Samsung framework related stuff. CM7 does it too.

Chances are Samsung releases a water resistant phone before this is ported to Defy.

Ha ha haaaa

Widgetsoid should be able to do what you want with the switches in the notification area.
And, for the battery, you can use the following:
Circle Battery Widget
DefyBatt
MotoCharge

I love this feature on Samsung phones. Sure Widgetsoid does the trick pretty well, but this is even more comfortable and frees up some more space in your homescreens. I haven't found anything that is capable of it so far though.

Yes I do that but it not get ON/OFF from here it take U to its own app on homescreen and than there we can do ON/OFF

Yes, you're right that it takes you to a pop up which does all switching. But hey, I'm just glad that it allows us to take things off the home screen.

What is the name of the app?

It's called Widgetsoid. Link is on the first page.

Thanks. Saw the links for the 3 other apps but not that one.

[Application] Overcharged

Hi guys,
I'm releasing my first public application to you: Overcharged.
Basically it's a battery monitor application that alerts you when your battery is full. Other than that, it gives you current battery status at a swipe distance.
Suggestions on how to improve this, are welcome
I've just published it in Google Market, so it should be up soon there, so it's easier to install for you

Thanks.
Works just fine
shows in the top bar, stylish
Thanks, Nifty idea!

I decided to make the application terminate with the back, so that we don't need to press the screen again. If you hit Home button, it will go to background.
Things to-do:
- customize alert
- automatic service at boot

Nice app.
One suggestion: The notification bar icon. A lightning or battery icon will look better than the black square.

I'll fix that on the next version to make consistent with the rest of the OS. I'm debugging the uptime that's acting weird and unfortunately Google doesn't allow me to use their IBatteryStats interface

The uptime is working, it only updates when the battery information changes. If you have a Droid phone, it only updates every 10%. Nexus One's, HTC Magic/G1 update every 1%.

Widget locker...any good?

Hi,
Has anyone been using this app on the Nexus S?
I only came across it after I saw the multiple icons on the lockscreen on one of the advertised themes.
Reviews on other sites suggest that there is a lag issue and other errors...none of them seem to be on the Nexus S.
Comments please.....
Im after the same answer, I saw it being used on the home screen post and it looked very good.
I want to start doing some customisazion of my own.

You can add up to 10 shortcut keys on the unlock screen. So, top left corner is camera, top right camera is LED flashlight, left middle is notes, right middle is google voice, bottom left is unlock andd buttom right is to silence it.
Oh and you can add widgets on the screen so i added a calendar widget.
I love this app and its really worth the money, being able to access some of these apps right from the screen is real convinient, especially the camera and flash light.
The only issue i've run into is that if you turn it on and off real quick, it will show the stock slide to ulock screen, and sometimes it will go back to the original slide to unlock screen, at this point you would just click on widget locker again to start it up.
Overall great app!
Better yet I'll post a video to give you an idea

That's the one.
Also, it is a known issue that this app will not work along side NoLed.
Heres a vid of the app.

Also, if you notice in the vid, when I turn it on from sleep mode, it shows the stock slider, thats because turn it off and on within 3-5 seconds, it will show the stock slider.
Cheers for that i'm sold.
Just downloaded it.
Awesome!
Thanks a lot. Just downloaded it.

It's a must have app... I made a video about it a while ago. I like my lockscreen with my calendar events and music. Also, if your rooted go to advance and set it to rooted device.
I would recommend widgetlocker. One of my favorite android apps

Widgetlocker is like quickdesk not like extended controls. You can customize your lock screen with widgets, shortcuts, toggles, apps, weather, etc..etc..
(dev of WidgetLocker)
Just wanted to let you guys know that my primary phone is a Nexus S. So the coming update is definitely well tested on this phone
Also I've been talking to the dev of NoLED trying to resolve the conflict between the two apps. Not solved yet though.

I had the issue when I was using CM7 nightly ROm with Netarchy 1.2.2 kernel. But I was also having other issues such as the lockscreen spontaneously coming on and off. The lockscreen on/off was happening even when i disabled widget locker . so I dont think it was the app.
Since I flashed another kernel, it seems to have resolved.
Hope that helps.

Remove recent apps from notification pulldown

Hello all,
Big thanks to everyone involved in root/s-off.
With root is there any way to remove the 'recent apps' from the notification pulldown?
TIA All
I would also like to see a patch of some kind that replaces the recent apps with a on off bar..
+1 that recent app bar is so annoying
+2, add power widget options in instead!
Definitely needed!
I will never understand why they put the Recent Apps there when you can get to them by long pressing the home button.
There is a workaround until someone does this, not the best solution but it works.
In the market there is an app called Power Control Plus (it is a paid app) that will put the toggles in your notification area but it doesn't replace the Recent apps.
yeah, the toggles in the pull down are one of the few things I miss from the Fascinate I have. Another being the convenience of being able to drag left or right on the notification bar to quickly change the screen brightness.
I'm working on Rosie and Framework mods right now and this is on my list. I removed the recent apps from notification on a custom Hero ROM and will do it to the Tbolt. As far as adding the switches, that's a whole other story. We would have to port JsChiSurf's Evo work and I think I'll just wait until someone ports a Gingerbread Sense ROM, which has the switches in a tab.
Does it actually have to be ported or could you just rip the required framework elements from an evo rom and copy them to your tbolt framework?

I imagine the dependencies are different, so things wouldn't match up properly.
Question here: I too find the recent apps feature useless and liked the pullldown toolbar in Slayer's mods.(my personal favorite) I assume a mod like this could be ported or created?

Just getting rid of the Recent Apps would be an improvement until someone gets this done.
Another thing you might do if you can figure it out, one of the Z roms for the inc had the Verizon Wireless banner made about half the size it is now. It looked better and took up far less space.
Even better if you could remove the banner entirely, I think we all know we are on Verizon!
Here is a screen cap with "Power Control Plus" It's a paid app but usable, now if we could at least get rid of the recent apps.

I tried widgetsoid but I didn't like the fact that when you click on any of the toggles it dissapears. If I want to cycle through a toggle (for instance "Brightness") you have to bring the notifications down again.
Maybe a setting I was missing but that's how it worked for me.
Yep I would be happy with the recent apps removed and using widgetsoid or something for toggles.
Thanks everyone.

I used Widgetsoid on my DX. Easily one of my favorite apps. However, now on my TB, my Widgetsoid widget in the pulldown is blank! I can't see the buttons. But if I press, it shows up, until I unpress. Any thoughts?
Recent apps gone, along with some other mods here. Now on to JsChiSurf's power control mod and Lockscreen mods.

Any mod to put power control widget in status bar like cyanogenmod?

I'd really love this as well, it's the main thing I miss from CM while I am using official ICS.
Widgetsoid or extended controls gives you pretty much the same functionality, available on stock ROM (as long as you're on ICS).

Correct, you can do this with Elixir2. Launch Elixir2 then hit Status Bar and everything is in there. App launcher, battery temp, CPU load, etc.
Bump.
I'm looking for a power control widget too.
The only two things i really nead are:
1. A working mobile data switch
2. A working GPS switch (which directly turns on and off GPS, without redirecting to the settings page)
Buttons in the scroll-down notification menu would be nice too (but not necessary), even better if they'd work without showing the pop-up widget bar.
I've used widgetsoid for a while but the gps toggle doesn't seem to work (anymore? lol, i can't remember whether it has worked before or not)

Pretty sure there is nothing out there that does this nicely. You could probably get everything working perfectly, aside from gps toggling. Custom ROMs of course have this ability (and more), but you are probably better off just keeping the GPS on all the time.
It is not powered unless an application requests for it, and when it does you can see the symbol in the status bar. It is certainly not a risk of battery drain so long as you don't use maps or something for prolonged periods while indoors or something.

They may have done away with them but I doubt it. Search in settings for "status bar" it's likely due to a 3rd party app interfering.
Same in safe mode?
Good Lock Quickstar isn't installed and stock launcher? The status icons should be visible on home page...
Malware is another possibility.
I use a combination of different settings in Android 9 and 10 to disable all of the icons on the status bar.

I agree that one UI is a thousand times better than it used to be; I have been using samsung phones since the S1, and I remember how horrible it was for a very very long time.
In spite of that, I prefer the customization's you can do with Nova Prime, and, aside from a few years recently being an Iphone fool, I have gotten used to Nova over several of my recent phones. Plus I have a few saved Nova customizations, and you dont get the option to have other configurations on One UI the way you do with Nova..

I had Touchwiz on a S4+, what a dog.
The N10+ is totally different. Nova doesn't manage the app tray as well.
Pick theme (the basic high contrast ones work best)>pick icon pack>pick wallpaper then use the Goodlock family of apps and One handed Operation plus to modify it further.
