I hate that notification because I use my phone for my alarm and it lights up in the middle of the night. Has anybody figured out a way to turn that notification off? I have looked and not found anything on the phone or in the forums.
If you can't find a way to suppress the notification, do what I do...turn the phone over. If you don't have the Body Glove case that lifts the screen off the furniture and are concerned about scratches, put it on a paper towel or similar item to protect it. I use a wash cloth.
would also like to know how to turn that stupid notification off - software based and not using a towel though
I don't know much yet but I was digging around in root explorer and if you go to /system/media there are a bunch of .qmg files for battery related stuff, and two of them are named chargingwarning.qmg and Disconnected.qmg. Could one of these be the file for the fully charged notification?

Probably not because the notifications are all text, and QMGs are the 3d files used at boot-up. Most likely those animations are used in the battery meter that is displayed when the phone is off (turn your phone off and plug it in).
This won't help with the light, but the sound can be fixed.

seriously? we are all STILL dealing with this? has anyone found a solution to prevent this notification from popping up?

It is confirmed fix in the 2.2 release - at least the JI6 build we are all playing with. They moved it to the notification bar.
Bumpage!
Been a lurker but just recently got my Captivate. Great forum here! Looking forward to contribute as well.
Well my issue with the "Fully Charged" battery notification is the display will stay on for the entire night. When I wake up in the morning, I see the phone's display on with the notification. Is this normal? I think this was happening just recently but I can't remember. Shouldn't the display turn off after the set amount time of inactivity? Thanks.
Nevermind, I figured it out. Within the development settings, the option to never allow the phone to sleep while plugged into the usb was checked. I wonder why that was checked.

Ok, I THOUGH disabling that option would put the display to sleep when the notification comes on but it doesn't. =(
Is this normal behavior? The screen stays lit after the notification is on? The only reason why i'm concern is if I'm plugging it in night after night and it's on that particular screen for hours at a time, there might be some burn in issues.

Not likely. It's not a rear projection tv or a CRT monitor. Burn-in problems died with those.

Guess you haven't seen some of the demo Captivate at your local AT&T stores. Seeing the burned in images on those beautiful SAMOLED screen just kills a little bit of me.
In any case, so it's normal for the screen to take on after the message notification comes on?

None of the models I saw had burn-in at all. I got my phone on August 30th of this year. The phone had been on the shelves since July. But I would imagine it's normal for the screen to come on.
I got my phone only three weeks ago, so the phone sitting on display has probably been there a long time. And yeah, samoled screen can get burned in. well guess I'll have to charge it during the day time for now until I can figure out a way to disable the pop up.
Oh my worry is that the screen might be in the on state with the same image for hours while I sleep. That's something I can't leave to chance.

As long as you're not using a Samsung Dock or have the Stay Awake option checked off in settings, it won't stay on. I watch my phone every night. It usually finishes charging long before I ever go to sleep (case in point, it's 3:11am, and the phone was done around 1am) and the screen always times out and turns itself off. It doesn't come back on either.

Ok, yeah that's what I figured. Thanks for confirming it for me. I do have that option "not checked". Something might be preventing it to fall back asleep.
Is there any log within the file system which might keep track of system events? I might have to do a little digging around.
Thanks for your input.

I don't believe there's any logs, but you might have some luck installing logcat from the market and checking that after one night

Charged notification PROBLEM SOLVED !
PROBLEM SOLVED ! NO COST !
I saw this suggestion in another forum and it WORKS, so I'm passing it on !
Set the global notifications to SILENT.
Set the notification on Gmail to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
Set the notification on messaging to any ringtone, NOT DEFAULT.
You'll still have a tone when you 1st plug the phone in to the charger, but NO tone when it's fully charged.
Where are these settings? I can't find them any where.
What does your TF do when closing the dock? Will it stay off and asleep?
I just got my B40 dock back after RMA (timeline and replaced parts number summarized here). I didn't really pay attention to how it was before I sent it because I only had it for a few days, except that it didn't sleep even when MobileDock Battery saving mode was set. Now after the RMA, it stays asleep correctly, but when I closed it in a darkened room, I noticed a light coming from the gap. It woke up!
In short, opening and closing the dock would behave like this:
1. While open, press the power button on the tablet (or the lock key on the dock). Table would go to deep SLEEP and would not wake up with a keyboard tap. However, as I close the dock and it approaches about 5 degree angle, the screen would turn ON and, worse, it stays on. Pressing the power button would not turn it off.
2. While ON and not asleep, close it. As it approaches 5 degree angle, the screen would turn OFF. It would turn ON as soon as the dock is opened again (regardless of how long I left it closed).
FWIW, the TF is B50 on Revolution ROM 2.1.0.
Edit: reluctant of another RMA, is there a microswitch inside the dock that detects the open/close position? If so, I might just disconnect it unless there is a software fix.
There is no switch. There's a magnet right beneath the - button that tells your TF to go to sleep when you close it and wake up when you open it. Don't put it to sleep before you close it. I have b60. When I press the power button before I close it, it would still stay asleep and wakes up when I open it. It's not a dock issue. It's a TF issue. May be the b50 is built differently. Don't know.
I uninstalled "No Lock" and now the screen stays off in scenario 1 above. But looking at CPU Spy, it wasn't deep-sleeping and instead it stayed at 216.
Not doubting you, but how did you know that your B60 was deep-sleeping for sure?

I don't. All I know is that my battery lasts forever. Besides, if it doesn't go to deep sleep, then fine. I don't care. Like I said, as long as the battery lasts me the whole day without me worrying about charging, I'm good.
Why are people so anal about this sleep thing? Get an ipad if you want your device to deep sleep that badly.
I think there is a difference in being anal and trying to be sure about what our device is donig -- especially after one has just received it from RMA.
Being in XDA already makes us more attentive about our devices than the regular population, so can't blame someone for checking.

Actually, no. I think it's the opposite. If you're here in xda then chances are you are fine with some of the imperfections that come with our devices. That's why we mod.
It's the ipad users who expect things to be perfect. Myself and many others have pointed this out many times. iOS devices crash just as often as everything else. The only reason people think they don't is because when they do crash there's no error message. One moment you're in an app and the next you're on your home screen. iOS is built that way. It's like sweeping the dirt under the rug to give the impression that the place is spotless.
why are we even talking about iPad? Geez...
I hate this. Every time I plug the phone in or place it on the wireless charger, the screen comes on. When it hits 100%, the screen comes on again. This is completely unnecessary.
Does anyone know of a way to disable that?
Exposed could, but we know how that goes...
It's not available for the S6?
Nope
Bummer. It really helped with a lot of things on the S4. Is it in the works?

AFAIK, there's a working version for Lollipop. How compatible it is with the S6, I do not know.
just ignore it? The phone turns itself back off in 5 seconds.
Wow, yeah, you're right. Why would I take some little pet peeve about my phone and expect to find help from a community of people who dedicate their time to such things as removing the name of your carrier from your lock screen? Maybe we'd all be better off if we just sucked it up and lived with everything exactly the way the phone came out of the box.
I've worked around this in the past using Tasker and Screen Filter. Just set tasker to activate a fully black screen filter on top of your screen for a few seconds whenever the phones is sat on a wireless charger. Same thing when it's fully charged. Works great.
Not for everyone

I like to have the phone set to "screen always on when charging" so when i have it plugged in and am sort of using it, the screen won't time out on me. However, I don't need the screen on when it's not in "use". So with the phone set to screen always on when charging, it suchs that it awakes once 100% charged or when notifications come across and then stays on. This is exactly why all the customization mods are so beneficial. I don't wan't the screen to ever turn on, unless I initiate. Where can I choose that without a custom rom or mod of some sort, I don't think its possible. Anyone got a good option for me?
Looks like the AOD is no longer shifting every few minutes to avoid burn in. I've been watching for the past 30 mins and have not seen a change- anyone else?
it's possible they just increased the length of time between shifts.. When I lock and unlock- sometimes the position changes, but not when I leave the phone locked.

I can confirm this. I also notice they've changed the hue of the font to a cooler white entirely, possibly to compensate for a static position.
Each time i tried to update it say update failed after the installation android screen after reboot. Anyone have that problem?

I wonder if the lack of switching positions is intentional to help with battery consumption
Sent from my SM-G930T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I am experiencing this same behavior on both mine and my wife's Galaxy S7's since the update. I got online with T-Mobile support and the guy had no clue. After a detailed explanation of what was going on, he wanted to know if I needed to turn AOD back on. I explained it again and he got with someone higher up and then emailed me instructions on how to do a master reset on my phone. I don't think the the customer support people know anything about this and I don't know who to contact to find out if it's going to damage the screen.
The update totally broke AOD. Not only does it not move anymore....it rarely ever gets bright...even in well lit environments. Something is definitely wrong.
Just make sure to log an official complaint with Tmo. Hopefully it gets fixed soon, as AOD had to be shut off. I don't want to risk any screen burn...and half the time, I can't even see it now anyway.

If it is intended to, it isn't helping any. Same 1% per hour as before (as opposed to AOD turned off), measured by Battery Monitor Widget overnight.
Well, on the bright side, that's the 1% per hour I'm not going to be losing any more (at least until they fix it).
UPDATE: on the bright side, I can confirm that it's always picking a new location when you turn the display on and off again (or when the phone does it on its own for whatever reason). It might be just a few pixels off the previous one, but it's new.
I was able to remove the update on my s7 using package disabler pro. Back to how it used to work at the moment.
That update was driving me bonkers lol

maybe i use app that make the phone to hot the the screen dimm?
im using whatsapp facebook instagram and messanger maybe? anyone knows?
On the Flip 4 I use the Adaptive Brightness "on" setting, and Dark Mode. Your results may vary, but here's what I've seen.
In the summer, on a sunny day, I'll notice that the phone will automatically try to be as bright as possible, so the screen is readable. (I'm pretty sure when this happens the quick display panel's screen brightness slider color changes to orange. Maybe the color depends on the wallpaper/color palette.) And I never see the screen do this "extra bright" thing indoors. Only outside and only in direct sunshine.
So far so good. I think this is as everyone expects the phone to operate.
Given all this, sometimes I'll notice the screen brightness will vary, even though I'm still outside and still in the same brilliant sunshine. I've noticed this commonly when checking Google News, and for example, I'm reading a story and scrolling slowly through the article. In particular when the screen is mostly black text on a white background.
So, in this situation, that is, a largely bright background, in the bright sun, my phone will both:
Get warm to the touch, on the back-side of the phone, where the two batteries are, but not up where the cameras, CPU and memory are located. This makes sense because "scrolling text" isn't that demanding on the CPU, but I am driving the OLED screen hard.
Also the front of the phone (the OLED screen itself) can feel warm. Even in the screen's crease, away from the battery. Since the image is mostly white, all the OLED dots are "on" and give off heat. Then again, I'm in brilliant sunshine and almost any surface will get warm.
Further, I'll notice that the phone screen will automatically get dimmer after a bit of time (perhaps a minute or two of extra-bright before the dimming). This I attribute to the software doing one, or both of:
Dialing back the screen brightness, to prevent OLED burn-in.
Dialing down the power usage by the screen, to prolong battery life and/or limit the battery temperature.
What's more, after little more time, still in the same bright lighting conditions, perhaps reading the same story, the screen might be noticeably extra-bright again. It's as if the phone has given the display "a rest" and is willing to go "extra bright" again.
In short, I think the phone screen is trying hard to be brilliant in the brightest of sunshine. But there are limits in how hard you can drive an OLED screen, and how long the battery can power the screen.
All of this before we start to talk about what design limits come into effect when the CPU or graphics processing come into play, both or which compete for:
Power from the battery, and
The ability of the phone to keep itself cool.
This phone's form-factor is all about folding in half. A slab form-factor phone, I suspect, will be far more capable for heavy CPU, graphics, and provide a bigger battery and better heat disipation.
