So I have finally rooted my SNS thx to you guys! and now I am trying to flash a custom rom...and unfortunately I stumbled on another issue. I get this message during flashing
installation aborted (status 7) (CM7) and found out that this was due to older version of clockwork mod, so I have downloaded a new clockwork mod 3.0.0.5 and replaced the recovery.img and flashed the recovery then when I try to access the recovery I am stuck at the google booting phase with lock sign on the bottom.....
did I miss something?
help plz!
Use rom manager to flash 3.0.0.0 again, and after that flash. 3.0.0.5 from rom manager. Should solve your problem.

Did you unlock the bootloader?

I am on brainmasters miui rom, and whenever I try to go into recovery the phone just gets stuck on the Google logo and doesn't move, forcing me to pull the battery. I have tried reflashing the recovery numerous times and idk what to do from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also made the experience that flashing recovery through rom manager doesn't always work...had the same problem, also using brainmaster's MIUI rom.

I got the same problem after flashing the Clockworkmod 5.0. Then I flashed the 4.0x version (found in the rooting guide on XDA) and it's now working smoothly

You should make sure you are erasing the old recovery before flashing a new one. This can be done as a fastboot command or through the advanced options in rom manager.

You should be using stock recovery and not clockworkmod. So flash stock recovery and you need to lock your bootloader.
This tool has the option to flash recovery, at least that is what I used.

Please consider putting this up on fileshare site ..
I also have the Hasoon tool and in newest version you can only flash stock recovery if you have it yourself, it is not included.
Have been looking for the stock recovery myself but failed to find it.

I flashed this recovery using the tool and rebooted the phone.
Then i installed the OTA update (No need to relock bootloader)
Then i reinstalled CWM and SuperSU .
Now my phone is at 2.31 and rooted.
Sweet that i dont have to listen to the SMS tone over and over again just informing me that there is a firmware update available.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

'fastboot flash recovery ville_recovery_signed.img'.

Flash error...
I'm having the same problem. But when I flash the recovery (from link above) I get the error message
<remote: signature verify failed>
Is this the wrong recovery for my phone (4.1, C1, rooted, stock ROM)?
I also just realized, that I'm getting this error with ANY recovery (TWRP etc.) I'm trying to flash...
Please help! Thanks!

No, I'm not.
But I figured out what might have caused the problem: an outdated stock recovery file (they all have the same file name...
Installed RUU, TWRP and root and now everything works smoothly. What a hassle for such a minor update!
Hi, I'm new on this forum and also a newbie, so here's my problem, attempting to flash CWM on my Galxay tab(Vodafone, Spain), I soft-bricked it. When I try to boot it, it just loops from samsung logo to vodafone logo, and it's showing a rainbow on samsung logo.
I found Unbrick Guide, and I was wondering if that method would work in my case.
My question: Will the soft unbrick method work in my case?
Thanks in advance.

OK so I'm new to XDA flashing roms, etc (aka a newb). I'm attempting to flash a custom rom on my rooted Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 using TWRP recovery. I keep getting a failed message when attempting to flash. Any advice on how to proceed would be HIGHLY appreciated!!

It is. I keep getting a "no MD5 file not found" message
Make sure you're on the latest version of TWRP. I believe it ends in ".1".
Otherwise just use CWM instead. You can install that with a free app called Flashify very easily.

Easiest way is to restore with odin
then using Casual All in one
Root, Flash Insecure aboot
go to google play download Rom manager then install CWM
or try just download rom manager then install CWM replace TWRP
Problem is I'm still in TWRP recovery, as I've been unsuccessful with flashing any ROM (so far). Do I need to have an operating system installed in order to install CWM?
