Here are 30 worthy (and 2 WTF) Android apps that were released in the past week or so - Android Apps and Games

Just spent about 5 hours on this week's app/game/lwp roundup: 30 Best (And 2 WTF) New Android Apps, Games, And Live Wallpapers From Last Week (2/16/11 – 2/21/11)
Compared to last week, the past week has had quite a few really nice additions.
P.S. Does anybody want me to post a note up here weekly when the post goes up?

To be honest I would like a list of new apps released. I dont mean u have to do it but with the amount of apps released in any given week sometimes its hard to keep track. Just a basic list and a quick summary of the apps would be sweet.

I agree, the layout makes me not want to even bother. It's information overload. Stick to stuff that is really noteworthy.

Great reviews, nice homepage... Im in. Went through all the reviews, and found myself a couple of new apps. Subscribed

Brilliant list. Thanks very much.

Can't find Flight Control on the Market or AppBrain !

Android Police regurgitate a lot of nonsense rumors on the internet, so don't get too excited if you see some story there... Just look on other blogs from a few weeks prior and you'll see where they got the info..

I'd love to see a list like this on a weekly basis! It's a good way to expose oneself to Apps that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Thanks guys, this is the format we're sticking to for the time being - if you need a simple list, just look at the top right where the table of contents is.
The series is already published on a weekly basis, so keep following, and I'll try to note it down here when each week's goes up.

I'm not sure how to respond to this but this is simply not true. It may have happened a couple of times inadvertently but it happens to every blog, including Android Central, Engadget, whoever. We actually take pride in posting relevant and interesting news many times unseen on other blogs, as well as original content, so a comment like yours kind of hits too close to home. Frankly, it's taking a dump on the 8+ hours I alone spend on it every day. Anyway, I'm sorry you feel that way, but I urge you to take a closer look.

PlayOn is the best app EVER. Oh my god. I love you for introducing me to it.

Thank You !! Very informative List

FRF44 is Android 2.2 release?

I don't know if this is useful at all, but I was visiting the top 10 linpack results and noticed what appears to be an FRF44 2.2 with release keys in the results.
http://www.greenecomputing.com/apps/linpack/linpack-top-10/
-James
Seems to me it is. I have read an article that said that jit and froyo would be twice as fast as eclaire
Wow. Just look at all those FROYO MFLOPP scores! =P
Omg, this week gonna be so fun.
A) Why is this in development?
B) This is news from several days ago.
I googled FRF44. I couldn't find it anywhere except for on the linpack website. That's news.
Secondly, it gives rom developer something to look for.
Sounds reasonable?
We could petition a mod to move this of course if it's not up to everyones posting standards. I hope that that this can be settled in a way that benefits everyone

dont be so hard a simple "hey this might be better off in Q&A mod please move" and yes we know this is old news. i heard about this oh last week i believe
Uncalled for...
Yea, he could say that... But it seems people here and everwhere online like to just be asshats about things rather than being polite... Clearly these people parents failed at raising polite individuals...
just follow androidfroyo on twitter and you'll get spammed whenever news comes out. theres like 2000000 websites already covering the linpack results
As it's FRF44 I would say that it's a Froyo build.
We only have another 24 hours before we find out... will be interesting how quickly the rom 'cooks' get to work on it
Wont be till Thurs that any info appears, thats when the "Android: TBA" sessions are.

Last Week’s Best New Android Apps And Games (10/4/10 – 10/10/10)

Hey guys, I'm trying something new - every Monday, I round up all the new app and game releases from the past week and post them in a format that I think makes it easy to navigate them and keep up among all the garbage.
This week's roundup is here: Last Week’s Best New Android Apps And Games (10/4/10 – 10/10/10), Now With Screenshots
Please let me know what you think of the format and usefulness of such endeavor.
Great idea. hope you keep it up in spite of the underwhelming response.

That's a lot to test and compare each week so I appreciate the effort to do this.

Very useful and appreciated.

I will have limited access, until the EO next week

Just a heads up to everyone, as I get a lot of PM's (which I don't mind, normally). The job that feeds my family just dumped a new project on me and I have to do 2 months worth of work in the next 7 days. You can imagine how happy I am about that. This is going to kill my days / nights and even my weekend.
I am going to release 4.1.0 today / tonight, and after that I will only be checking the site in the evenings, most likely. After this project stabilizes, I'll hopefully go back to my usual access / response time.
Apologies in advance.

Thanks for the heads up and hard work. Good luck with your deadline, I feel ya.
Good luck and come back soon We need you here
I'm not going anywhere - I just want to set expectations for the next week.
I know this might sound like I'm being self-important, but I do get a lot of PM's and I'm on the site daily, so I don't want people to think I just disappeared off the face of the earth.
Work? What's work? Is that some new word in the dictionary Haha! I love being retired!

Don't get upset about the suggestion, but maybe it'd be better to hold off the new release until you're not in this situation?

I thought about that, but it was already in flight so I wanted to get it out. That one thread, and my PM's, will be the things I will consider "high priority" items to look at at least once a day.
Well if viewsonic would just give you the $M you deserve for improving user experience you could just coast
Handle your business and I applaud your dedication to the G Tab.
Thank you

Hey now worries! The day job is what pays for the toys Just take care of what needs your attention... we will all survive until you free up again! I just came off one of those projects so I understand what ya gotta do to keep the lights on !!!
Good Luck!!!
You left us in good hands. TnT Lite 4.1.0 is working well. Good Luck. I've lived through many of my own unreasonable situation at work.
roebeet - you've done as much for this community as anybody, if not more. No need to feel bad about taking care of your real job and, in turn, your family, for the next few weeks. We appreciate all the time you've devoted to making the G Tab a great device.
Not to mention but while your gone.... You have all of us to answer ALL the questions! We will hook you right up! In just a matter of days we will have everyone thinking TnTLite is what controls the Space Shuttle, and there car. The market will work and it will all be free, and the G Tablet will have GPS and actually know where it is!...
You sure you want to do this?
Have fun at your real job... This little old tablet will be fine
Thanks Roebeet!

My GTab video blog is up and running... I have about 5 or 6 videos so far... the first 3 are the basic clockwork mod rooting, flashing a rom (Vegan 5.1) and flash/market fix. I also did one showing the hulu fix... and I will be posting a new one soon on getting swype running on the GTab.
I have plans to do Rom reviews, apps, and games in the future.
Short quick videos... all in one place.. with XDA forum links to follow.
If you have any suggestions... any good tutorials from the forums that you want me to made a video for... Please visit the blog and let me know!

Nice I bookmarked it. Thanks and I like the site design. Well done!
Thery useful video blog. Thanks!
Sweet, i'm getting my GTAB tomorrow so I'll definitely be checking out your site.
very nice!
Thanks
Thanks for adding to the mix.....
Outstanding! Thanks for the extra work, I'm sure many of us will benefit from it.
I plan to follow advice found on XDA and do the following:
1) Open and run the device stock for a bit.
2) Do the OTA update and evaluate. I may be purchasing one for my mother and I think the updated stock will be plenty for her to check email, do facebook and check the weather?
3) Look at Vegan 5.1 and Supplement as well as Clemsyn's kernel.
4) Look at TNT
5) Have fun with it!
Nice blog. My gTab should be coming in tomorrow so get to play around with it.
I'm a stickler for written directions, but a video to follow is even better! Great work!
Suggestion: Any chance of getting a vid up with setting up nvflash, getting the tab in apx mode, possibly pulling/pushing files from/to the tablet?
Thanks again!
You all rock... thanks for the kudos!!!!
@Dueces99: NVFlash is my only hurdle right now... I consider myself tech savvy but for some reason, I couldn't figure that one out... YET... I'm sure I just need to do some more research, but if anyone knows the best how-to on that I would really appreciate it... because lets face it... the Viewsonic Birds have to go... I've seen that logo over a decade ago...
Thanks again everyone... pass on the good word and I'll keep posting videos!!!!
I just checked out the site. Looks great, good work.
Very nice!
Before I say anything, you know that your site is awesome and that you are awesome.
That said, you're no Steve Jobs. When Steve Jobs first presented the ipad in his conference, you could tell from the videos that he tried very hard to present the strengths and cover up the weaknesses. For instance, everytime he pressed a soft button, he always gave it about half a second for the ipad to respond. In your video, I noticed that you kept pressing it really fast and then having to repress the screen.
Yes, your videos are awesome. But if I were you I wouldn't quit my day job to become a salesman LOL
Excellent site- thank you for your hard work
hahaha!

Very true... This is just a hobby and I do every video in one take... Its more about function over form... I'm sure I spent more time on the logo and intro music than I did the composure of the videos... but for what its worth, I will try to rehears a little more so I don't look entirely like a noob!
When my Gtab comes in tomorrow, your site will be on my list of 'have to learn from'. Thanks, my man!!!
Very nice work, thank you!
Gotcha bookmarked.

[Video] How to improve your android experience

Hey guys, I just made a video on how to truly experience the captivate, or any android phone for that matter.
Check it out if you guys want to. Mainly for newer users but everyone is welcome to watch and critique
Here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2rrUm_vvWo&feature=channel_video_title
thanks and yeah i went a little overboard with descriptions lol
May I suggest you keep a list of talking points off camera for reference (maybe rehearse it a couple times before recording?)... To avoid all the "uuuhhhss" and "uuuummmms" it would make the videos shorter and make you sound much, much, more professional.
Flash a new rom.
Bam! Didn't even need a video for that!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
true true, ill keep that in mind
i had no idea what you were going to be talking about. start with that.
today im going to talk about... this this and this. now lets start with this....
and nothing you did makes anything "hd" there is nothing worse than making information that uses words incorrectly. it takes HD video, always has, and thats it.
besides that, i like that you are out here to help
Damn, I think I'm going to have to watch this thing. Right after "But I'm a cheerleader" lol

continuum 5 eh? I really wanna get into gingerbread. my damn exams are taking too much of my time. but sooooon
and @Trussello
By changing the density like I did, it gives the illusion of an HD screen with a superAMOLED display which isnt even coming out with the S II :S.
I believe that this is far superior to the atrix's screen and it is in essence turning your captivate 'HD'
I think the title is justifiable.
Thanks for your feedback it is much appreciated and im learning a lot

What kind of a calender widget are you using?
It's great that you're doing this for the community Here's some hopefully constructive feedback:
Try to be more to the point. I was curious to learn some stuff, but i found myself getting bored and impatient, which is a shame. You basically spent 4-5 minutes on unlocking the screen with WidgetLocker, without really explaining what WidgetLocker really is, and on ADW EX, but only showing the setting for the number of desktop columns and rows. There are lots of neat things about both these apps, yet i didn't get to see any of it
Keep in mind who your audience is. For the people who are not familiar with the apps you're showing, you want to make sure you explain things. And you want to keep it brief enough so that people who are familiar with the app you're discussing don't get too bored and quit watching. My expectation going into a video like this would be that you will cover several things, and that i may know about a few of them, but not all of them. So the ones i already know about, i'd like them to be short enough that i don't get bored. And the ones i do not yet know about need to be informative enough that i get a basic idea of what it is and does.
My suggestion would be that for each app you try to give a 1-3 sentence explanation about what it is / what it does, and then demo a few features, without dwelling on it too long. I think you could put together a great video if you were to use a rule of thumb like that for each app and cool thing you want to show. Before you start recording, make a shot bullet list of the things you want to mention, so that you can stay on target. (Don't make a script with sentences, because you'd end up reading the script to the viewer, which really doesn't work.)
I hope that that helps you in some way. Again, it's nice you're doing this. I'm just trying to provide some feedback to help you get better I'm looking forward to more videos from you!
