[Q] Is there a Froyo distribution that fully works on a Pola200? - Touch Cruise Android Development

Hello Community!
I've lurked on these forums for what seems like forever, I remember when only about 6 phones were actually supported here, but I've barely ever posted before because I've always found the answers I needed kicking about somewhere.
This time I can't.
I have an old Pola200 that I am giving to my poorly wife largely as a media player, and I'd like to put Android on it, to give her a taste of the excellent OS I use on my own HD2 (Leo) in preparation for eventually upgrading her aging Symbian based phone. She's a total technophobe, so giving her an OS that does not work will put her off the idea in the future.
I've searched these forums thoroughly, and there is a lot of builds that work fine on the Pola100, and the larger posts that try to collect all functioning builds together get a little confused by folks asking unrelated questions, and others not actually reporting whether their phone is Pola100 or Pola200.
All I am after is a simple build, either method, NAND or Haret that works fully on the Pola200 that I have. I'd prefer Haret because there is a piece of winMobile software she's fond of, but I can talk her into using an android version if it's neccessary.
Please can someone simply point me to a fully functional build for the Pola200?
Come on folks, even a simple "No" would help over 100 views of this post and no replies at all? Please?

Nobody there?

NAND (Best speed) setup:
For your android distro I recommend Fresh Froyo on NAND. You can get it below.http://sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/2011-1-23-froyo/
For your NBH, I recommend DZO's latset nbh. Pick a polaimg one. On Pola200 Panel 2 or 3 should work fine (if not you can try panel 1), and use a 240x320 one for Fresh Froyo. You can get the NBH below.
http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D
And please check this thread if your Wi-Fi isn't working after install. It is below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820683
If you ABSOLUTELY need a haret setup, ask me and I'll upload a custom-made set. I hope you find this information useful.

so this Android NAND will work with XDA orbit 2 as it's Pola 200.
quick question are all these supported with this release
- 3g Sim card (3UK network) supported with this.
-camera.
- GPS
- wireless
- bluetooth
Apppreciate your help.
tri

pl0ppy you are awesome, thanks very much. I'll check and see if this works as soon as I can (computer and health troubles to get sorted first).
I'll let you know if I really need the custom setup, but if android works reliably and well on the phone, I can see me being ble to convert her totally away from winmob and on to Android.
Thanks again for the help, once again XDA Devs community Rocks!

[ROM] (update 7/22) Very speedy port of JacHero2.7.3 32B and now with Compcache

Hello all.
First many thanks to Fatal1ty Justanothercroud haykuro NK02 and the many other developers that made doing all this possible. Also now have to add on cyanogen thanks for the info on compcache as has been added to the rom.
This is a complete port including kernal with thankz again to dazcox5181 and made some modifications myself. Is very stable build on my 32B Ion and runs very quickly used for about 8 hours already and no loading screen yet. Al widgets are working and is FULL version for now. No lag between any screens. Is now a complete and very quick rom based on JAC heros build some fatal1ty thrown in and then some of my own mods.
Please try and let me know what you think.
Steps so far:
More optimized Rosie.apk but keeping most widgets here but foot prints and htc sync removed
32b boot img - fully working
correct wlan.ko file included - wifi works
swap on partiton 3 os sd card solved by dazcox5181 first used his idea in making boot.img for my next release good work dazcox. included your changes and working on other modifications to the kernal yet.
Browser don't always close anymore.
For board 32B only http://www.mediafire.com/?tldxy1i9zdn TheArtiszanR0.9 Released 7/22/2009 11.02AM EST
working well on my Google I/O device
next realease will have updated working boot.img and other modifications.
lightly modified rosie.apk for speed and looking in to persistant browser. (don't close all the time) keep same for other apps.
For this rom to working correctly you will need to have 3 partitions on your memory card.
Fat32
ext2/3
linux-swap
in that correct order The swap partition will need to be atleast 32 mb. Making larger won't help as that is the size I have left to. may change later but 32 seems to be more then suffcient.
space holder
Will you be using fatal1tys boot.img?
Apps
I would am only looking to try ROM's with Exchange support at this stage so I would love to see ActiveSync support...
As of right meow. Yes it will be using the same one fate does until I get time later to make other modifications.
As being it is a hero rom it will have the full htc mail app which suppers exchange over mobile network. I am not sure if activesync is capable yet or not.
Pretty much done with at least making the rom fully compaible with the 32B hardware. Just testing everythig now and there will be just a few minor changes and I will upload then first thing tomorrow as home Internet is out for now. Next up will be some more modifications for general optimization. Runs pretty smoothly now and is the full Rosie still with all clocks and weather app working. Will tinker with that some more later on.
what did u mean with direct port?
if you use the boot.img from fatality, the rom wil not be as fast as on the g1, because of the kernel (i hope i understand this right)
so you will get a port only with a different look as the one from fatal1ty
or do you port the moddifierd kernel from cyanogen?
you can get swapper working using this code
adb remount
adb shell mount -w -o remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
adb shell ln -s /system/xbin/bb/busybox /system/bin/busybox
adb shell mount -r -o remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
Click to collapse
If your not porting the kernel its the same as has already been 'ported' so is there a point?
Hi mate
Once these commands have been run, I have then installed swapper from the market. What value do I set my swap partition to in swapper ? Assume I am setting swapper to use a swap parition rather than /sdcard/swapfile.swp ?
Thanks.

Sorry I beat you too it, see my posts it's so simple you'll kick yourself (like I did)
extract boot.img from normal jachero, rename init.trout.rc to init.sapphire.rc
repack
flash
done.
That is what I am working now I have the boot.imig extracted and looking the other code to see if can be made quicker. Going to have a customized Rosie as well so it will have most usability and less space more speed. Unlike the other one with flip clock and others not working to well. The one I posted above i working good on mines so far.
what do you guys think the best setup for swapper would be for the build as again I am trying to start with a FULL hero and will also keep superlite from JAC's crew as well
currently the userinit.sh is set to
32 / 60
I was thinking of
64 / 40
What is everyones opinion both seem to work fine for me atm I have 64/40 running for about 2 hours and have not had a rosie loading spin once. did get it once or twice on 32/60 but that was having flash games up in browser.
Uploading will be done soon. new version fully working and very speed with some new modifications.

download ubuntu live linux cd
boot to cd and run partition manager
change drive type at top right to memory card, delete partitions, create new ones, make lage fat32 partiton, then 300-500meg for ext 3, and only 32-60 for swap
If you have a card reader you can use any partitioning program like paragon.
or in Recovery console in ADB on PC can do the following should work with a hypothetical 2 gb card.
#parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
#print (to verfiy we know what size card we are dealing with, the details should be straight forward)
rm 1
rm 2
mkpartfs primary fat32 0 1200
mkpartfs primary ext2 1200 1700
mkpartfs primary linux-swap 1700 1732

Simple guide to flash android on Nand

12/08/2010 Updated with fix permission
TO ALL PEOPLE:
PLEASE STOP POSTING IN THIS TOPIC ABOUT "THIS PART DOESN'T WORK ECC ECC" WRITE IN THE TOPIC OF THE RELEASE (KERNEL OR SYSTEM), PLEASE LOOK IN THIS THREAD FOR WORKING SETUPS AND TRICKS, AND SEARCH ON THE FORUM BEFORE POSTING!
This method erase all data on your system and you can brick you phone so do it carefully.
Main problem: screen
For polaris there are 3 type of screen. Usually pola100 (the old one) use panel 1, and pola 200 (09 edition) has panel 3 but ... not always works...
The best mode to test is try to install and after double reboot you have black screen change panel type.
What you need:
phone (with hardspl installed)
sd card (1 Gb or more)
time
python
Update guide: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/androidhtc/wiki/HowToInstallWithAtoolsNand

For androidinstall.tar e nbh look in this thread for working setups. (Choose Eclair or Froyo, Donut as problems with new kernel)
You can flash back windows (using your preferred method), if you need, but it's a shame!

can you add how to change panel 1 to 3 or vice versa?

You just Download NBH Editor and select the NBH with panel 3.
Then you will see that you can choose from whatever panel you would like, save and copy on SD

HTC Polaris 100 - doesn't flash
I followed you instructions exactly as you wrote them. BUt it doesn't work.
When I power on the device with camera button pressed I see the 3 color boot screen- but that is it. At this point the screen says "Loading" and nothing else happens.
What am I doing wrong?
I have been using the Haret version of Froyo and think it is great, but wanted to go the NAND route. I am hoping it will perform better.
Thanks for your help
Re-download the nbh and retry, maybe is corrupted..
A little help
Hi,
It's been a while since i posted but I'm trying to flash to the NAND but must be a little out of touch as I get blocked at an Error

install-seq.sh
androidinstall.tar (which is not easy to find but I managed
I followed your guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725604

Thanks for any help

It's very strange, try another time..
(remember that install-seq disable automatically if install procedure works without problems)
there only these errors? are there any "Failed to format"?
Indeed the install-seq did get renamed ti install-seq-disable and the data.img & system.img was on the sd card....
Tried three times already...humpf..
Maybe I'll try a manual install.
I can post the dmesg if you think it helps??
If you use nand install you don't need anymore data.img and system.img ...
the install-seq install all on nand.
Post your dmesg (with a link) and i'll take a look...
Hi, at first I want to thank you for this tut and all your work It walked me through the proces of getting android on my pola100.
Just wanted to ask what I can delete from my sd card after succesful flashing. Can I delete complete folder andboot? Thx for your help
All the files, but it would be a better choice to keep all file on sd...

When I used your install script for the first time it tries to install system.img and data.img on the EXT2 partition.
After restart I entered the menu and selected the NAND option.
When I re-install the nbh and using your install script (for the second time) it is working.
I have the same problem as zeeos, I have "loading..." on my screen but nothing happens. I tryed many nbh...
Try to change sd card or flash from windows application...
Hey guys,
I've followed the guide exactly, performed task 29 first and ran from a clean, formatted SD card.
I'm using the latest Froyo build and have changed it to panel 1 as I have a POLA100.
The install procedure runs smoothly until it it gets to the point where I see the Warm Donut boot screen with animation, but then it stops and just shows a black screen with white cursor in the top left hand corner, doesn't go any further. Is this normal? Do I have to wait longer? I've left it for half an hour...?
Which files did you use?

[Q] Android on HTC Polaris install errors

Hi,
Apologies if this has been answered before elsewhere.
I have been trying to use Atools to install Android on a HTC Pola100 (Touchcruise) PDA using options HARET & FROYO with system.img and data.img files in order to protect other content on my SD card.
The help page was quite informative except for where to obtain compatible haret.exe and androidinstall.tar files but I found ones on the internet dated 28/01/2010 and 24/4/2010 respectively.
The install process starts running (has a penguin image if that helps), but produces dozens of messages (which scroll off the screen too quickly to read and I haven't found a log file) before finally hanging.
The final messages are:
/init: line 334 :mount_opt: not found
sh: 2: unknown operand
found boot parameter for system
system on sd partition
e2fsck 1.38 (30-JUN-2005)

possibly non-existent or swap device?
e2fsck: mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /system failed. no such device or address

I thought it might be a problem with my SD card, so I reformatted it and tried again with the same result.
Also tried the partitioned install, but it failed to create the partitions.
have now found an alternative install process that works

[APP] Linux Installer Taken almost 4 Days to Install

It has taken me almost 4 Days (Since Sunday at 1pm Central Time to now) to download and install Linux on my ASUS Transformer TF101 running AOKP Build 33 using Linux Installer from Google Play... AND IT IS STILL NOT DONE!!!! It is at package number 50,280 of Debian Testing. I don't want to press the Home or Back button cause that might screw up my device... And I can't cancel cause the button disappeared... I tried to email the maker of the app to ask them if this was normal or if I could do anything about it and haven't got a reply back...
Can anybody help me?
It is probably your internet connection.
Just download it to your computer and transfer it as per this thread

One, It has been done downloaded cause my WiFi has been turned off for 3 of the now 5 days.
Two, I am not using that app, I am using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.galoula.LinuxInstall
Three, It says it is Verifying Packages and it is at 70,000 something.
EDIT: Okay I canceled using that app and am now using the one you suggested...
However I get a bunch of errors

Any update on the issue with the never ending "validating packages"?
I have the same issue. Was running it for the whole day until it reached 7000, then I canceled and tried again.
The weird fing is, when i tried it the first time, it worked very wuickly and without any issues. But as I had a far too small 500MB image, I tried it again. But since that, no success.
Is it possible that there are some old data kept somewhere?
Is it possible to do a clean start?
I tried already the "reset config" function.
Neverending Validating Packages, No Network Required same as previous poster...

I am having the same issue, I also have a Transformer TF-101
I had issues with the "other" Complete Linux Installer that resulted in I/O errors that I've read about being a problem on Transformer tablets or possibly NVidia Tegra tablets
I am using Linux Installer STD or "Galoula" linux installer
I e-mailed a note to [email protected] but it was kind of wordy and didn't include any attachments, don't know if I will get a reply
I did not mention to them that it was a TF-101
I will probably try debootstrap for myself in a while. I think they've put out a ****load of documentation and I can probably learn more from that documentation than I could by just running the app and installing...
Anyway, I too am not convinced that it's doing anything, I waited for 7000 last night and gave up.
Here is a screenshot of the last status report before I cancelled this time.
This is a really useful looking tool, that could save me a lot of time, but with ext2 filesystem I'm not sure how useful it would be...
Does anyone know how to get mkfs.ext4 on a transformer? It has kernel support, all of the existing filesystems are ext4. But no mkfs.ext3 or mkfs.ext4 seems to be available or on the disk already. I am thinking about preparing my loop file on another machine with some instructions from the wiki instead. It's just debootstrap... I already know how to use debootstrap. Hopefully this tool will recognize the installed system and prompt me to update my linuxchroot script, if it does that it would still be worthwhile to use.
