Go with GingerCollab or CM7 RC1 and apply the Stock Mod, I want to have cm7 with as stock a feel as possible with the maximum battery lifetime, would also be thankful if I can be suggested a kernel which would serve the above purpose. Also more the tweeks and tricks to speed up, increase battery, better sound, better touch, these all are good, but no compromise to the stock feel and battery life.
If you want the experience at closest of stock, go with Modaco.
But personally, CM7 is pretty close to stock with significant improvements.
Closest would be Modaco.
Well, personally I'm using CM7 RC1, with some mod removing ADW. Also using ogdobber's stock kernel with voodoo improvements and ext4 hack. But since I didn't use stock for more than a day, I can't say how close it is, but since I'm using stock launcher, I reckon it's pretty close, if not identical.
Oh thanks, I was thinking cm7 would have better improvements and tweeks than modaco, which would be stockier though, GingerCollab or The stock mod + cm7 ?
And thanks for the kernel suggestion, looks good!

yeah CM7 is definitely better than modaco, but you said you wanted closest as the stock experience so thats why i brought it up.
and the stock mod doesnt really do anything, its just for people who want to get rid of ADW Launcher.. but you can do that without the mod via ADB/root explorer/titanium backup/etc
If you want as stock as possible, go for CM7 with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933517 (Removes the ADW Launcher), and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949292 (Stock kernel with voodoo improvements and ext4 hack)

I am proud to announce the release of HTCClay's newest addition to his popular FastTest series, version 3.1-RH.
I had a quick talk with clay about this build, details below
Custom themed & BlackBar (By HTCClay, of course )
Based off SuperD 1.10.2 (including the kernel)
Includes 180 degree orientation hack
Uses new "legal" file flashing scheme (similar to CyanogenMod and SuperD) - MUST flash over FT 3.0.2
Includes themed 5-screen launcher - FAST! (Not launcher2 port, although I recommend it - Link below)
Only available in RHack - this should be obvious from the title, but
Thanks to for HTCClay for putting in the work to put together these great releases!
Thanks to AndroidSpin for the hosting this ROM, and providing the bandwidth!
Link: http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=htcclay/&file=FastTest3.1RH.zip
Link to Anderwebs Launcher2 port v.6.2 - themed by HTCClay : http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=htcclay/&file=ADW.6.2FastTheme.zip
Link to FT 3.0.2 (base): http://www.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=htcclay/&file=FastTest3.0.2RH.zip
Enjoy!
double post by accident. sorry
hey bro. thanks for uploading this. how about some more info on it if possible because that changelog doesn't do the 3.1 justice. by the mere look of it, nothing has changed except the kernel, the 180 rotation, and launcher (and most people dislike new launcher due to its speed). much appreciated! i'm big on testing roms and have flashed quite a bit, and i can humbly say FT 3.0.2 is the best for me right now. no issues with apps, no issues with anything. most likely because it was based on cyan's kernel, which doesn't break any apps.

So, sorry for the lame question.....think I can flash this over the latest SuperD, or should I really wipe and do the DRC83_Defangled base flash first followed by this? Or its it really, really serious about the need to install the previous version first?

haha actually my bad. i read on ur recent release that uve sped it up but one thing remains that made me personally dislike it was that it eats up battery for some reason .
HTCClay rarely gives out ANY changelog info, so I was lucky to "pry" this little bits out of him lol.
I actually gave quite a bit of info, if you read in between the lines, as all his previous fasttest builds were based off SuperD 1.93 w/ WesGarner's WG Kernel, where as this build is now literally a themed SuperD 1.10.2 with the launcher (although I am having an issue where the laucher is stock donut, so for those complaining they dont want the "AlmostNexus" launcher, you may get your wish). By switching from WG to Ben's kenerl, we can now have both 180 deg rotation, which I have been waiting for, and integrated SpareParts into settings (although I think he worked that in StupidFast too)
I still recommend flashing the AlmostNexus launcher by anderwebs (v.6) as it performance is great, and has very few issues when set to fast, and 4 columns
For usage, it seems quite speedy so far. Slightly faster then SuperD, although it might be a placebo effect

I agree, my ultimate fav is the v4 of anderwebs's mod, as it keeps the stock launcher approach yet allows the previews
EDIT: although I like v4, I am still personally using v6 as its FAIRLY fast (w/ fast mode enabled) and it looks great
I don't understand, we can't flash over 3.0.3 w/o wipe Or what?
Must flash over 3.0.2, NOT 3.0.3. Sorry, its only a new wipe update to FT3.0.2. I talked to clay about flashing over a defanged base, but he recommended using a clean flash of 3.0.2 as a base.
Hope that helps!

It might brick your phone, it might permanently break 4G, it might kill your kitten.
I take no responsibility for any problems from this ROM, including but not limited to poor reception, deleting your entire Facebook account, or causing nuclear warfare.
It is also not much of an original work. I basically just get my kanging on with some ROMs before I load them, and someone had mentioned they might be interested.
Basically I am an AOSP fan, and really liked Bugless Beast 0.4. As bugs were found and Pete moved away from the EVO tjohnsonjr's NonSense became the spiritual successor for some of us. This ROM just takes it a small step further.
Removed
- Device Self Service
- Boot up sound
Added
- AOSP Calendar
- Eliot Stocker Music app (from CM and DC)
- BB v.4 launcher and home
- Bugless Beast Tips
- I put the Adobe Flash apk in, haven't tested it yet
- Quick Boot
- Spare Parts
- multitouch keyboard (also has AOSP and HTC IME)
- Lots of FCs
Uninstallable
- Beast Tips
- Adobe Flashplayer <- might or might not work
- quickboot
- Corp Cal
- ES File Explorer
- HTC Photo Album <- might break something
- Spare Parts
- Sprint TV
- Sprint VVM
- Weather <- might break something
I left the HTC browser, because it will still support double tap to resize, and the HTC copy and paste tool. It just sucks that it only allows 4 tabs. I did not put in a lot of the stuff people typically put in like Rom Manager, Titanium Backup, etc. since they will be out of date so soon anyway.
I have been mostly using CM6 instead of this, and had to kinda remake it, and it isn't very well tested. In fact I am currently in Mexico on vacation so I haven't been able to test the phone or data connections.
If you find something wrong, just post it here so I can ignore it, or maybe make fun of you. If it breaks your phone, you are welcome to whine here. If you post your mailing address I will either send a new phone to you to replace it, or stick a smelly dead fish in your mailbox, or not do anything at all. More than likely the last option.
I don't know why you would want to run this instead of a smooth running ROM that has actually had bugs fixed and won't FC every 3 minutes. CM6 is really strong as a 2.2 right now, and the official 2.2 is kinda out/will be out for real in days. DC and Fresh and NonSense and Baked Snack and many others are killer 2.1 ROMs that give you more features, stability, and battery life than stock. I sure don't plan to run this, or support it. Those guys really know what they are doing.... I can't even figure out how to change the default wallpaper without breaking stuff.
This ROM is just lame.
If you are still interested I suggest talking to a doctor. And you can grab it from the link right here.
Of course a big thanks to all the people I have totally mooched off of. I'm missing some, but off the top of my head.

It's not really BB 4, but I THINK it won't have the awake bug. The awake bug seems to have something to do with all the stuff he pulled out. The NonSense ROM is much more conservative on what it removes (HTC Dialer is still in there for instance).
What do people like about Bugless Beast? The more I know what in particular to bring over, the better this will be.
I could also try to grab BBv4 and fix it, but it is pretty old at this point (pre 1.47) and it doesn't seem worth the effort.
That said, if I keep this going it will more than likely become a CM6 base with tweaks, since it is true AOSP, not just sense with AOSP apps hacked in.

What do you guys want out of a Froyo build that isn't already in CM6? Things are too crazy at work right now to have something out very soon, but I'm game to do more. I just don't know what AOSP people want that isn't already in CM.

It would just be real nice to get a bare bones AOSP with everything working and we can decide on the apps.

Bare bones so we can decide on apps, great!
AOSP with everything working, GREAT!
Themed...not so great. leave it unthemed so we can decide on a theme ourselves. Im not particularly fond of clear notification bars and lock screens myself.
I would also like an AOSP rom, hopefully as bare as possible, without any sense/htc elements.
The most important things for me are speed (response), battery life, and stability.
It should only include the essential apps, maybe with whatever apps others vote on if there is a high enough demand, with anything that is not absolutely necessary uninstallable.
It should also incorporate any upgrades/fixes that will improve stock settings, though it is understandable that most of these come from custom kernels.
I would definitely not want it to be themed. People can install themes if they want but I think it would work better for everyone if they could choose what they want on their phone.
A second post aggregating as many of the add-ons/themes/apps/fixes devs here at xda have made would also be really useful.
All in all, I am really hopeful, since there aren't many AOSP roms and there seems to be a good demand for one.
AOSP Fresh. Flipz fresh evo rom is the best. I would rather see it without sense or any htc apps except what is needed, if any, for all functions to work. I like cyanogen but it isn't fully functional on the evo. So, Fresh AOSP all stock. User can change theme etc...
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G with Sprint
I'm not really sure why AOSP gets all the love it gets...it's just not my thing. Looks boring and cheap BUT thats just me.
I'm not a huge fan of the sense launcher or the rosie dock but the widgets can't be matched no matter how many apps you download =p
But honestly, there are plenty of nice sense based roms here...I'm not sure there is anything else that could really be done to improve on them...so an AOSP would prolly be my vote.
IMO, I would rather see more themes...nobody likes to theme the EVO it seems..

There is no stable rom for the Hero that is both 2.2 (Froyo) and Sense. There are a few in development by our master chefs here, but they aren't quite what I would call Stable yet.
alright, still in the wrong section but i can give you some insight here
- as far as for froyo with sense there are only 1 or 2 builds at the moment, our devs are working on getting this fully functional but atm not everything is fully functional
as far as for froyo that doesn't have the sense overlay, you have 2 options each with their own person upsides
- cyanogen mod 6- this is a customized version of AOSP android with some custom changes like the ability to put the battery % over the battery indicator, you can change notification colors along with the ability to change LED notifications and even the status bar colors of the phone all without having to load in a theme or anything, you also have the power control toggles in the notification trays, and some other tweaks to performance
- AOSPmod - this is stock android, no extra frills just vanilla android but it does give a good base for themeing
there are versions of the 2.1 released that are a little bit more performance boosting but 2.2 sense just isnt fully ready for our phone yet but with patience it will be

Liquid sense removes alot of the sprint bloat and if you download the odex'd version it will feel snappier, also all of the images have been optimized if she wants sense minus the bloat i would go with that one (your sprint apps and such)

if she wants an optimized as close to stock as possible configuration
this would be your best option

If you go with the LiquidSense rom, you can manually add in any of the apps that were removed using adb shell, or android commander, and if you use the NFX Stock sprint rom, you can remove the unnecessary apps using android commander or titanium backup (which has free and paid versions in the market).
PM me if you need more info on that.

I've run both Miui & SteelBlue.
SteelBlue is nice, but it has issues like launcher hanging for 30 seconds, etc.
I was skeptical about running Miui, so I held out.. But I decided to try it (Khals.v1) & it was good, then upgraded to Khal's v2.
Miui runs much faster then steel, the latest Khal v2 eliminated 99.9% of the Chinese. I use English & it is great... Runs like it was designed specifically for the phone by a manufacturer.... + Battery drains way too quick on Steelblue... Miui battery is best I've seen on this phone. MIUI is hands down the BEST!
I agree...miui is good...but then u don't have hdmi functionality available in it!

camera and camcorder apps are a big thumbs down on miui.
thats one of the cons of using this beauty...miui..
If launcher is slow coming back, you can try adding this is in your local.prop and reboot. It keeps the launcher in memory. Works well for me.
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
I used Zeam, with Folder organizer to change icons, and no widgets to keep launcher memory footprint low.
Works well for me until I switched to MIUI, which is faster for me. I don't use HDMI and rarely takes video, so it's a good tradeoff for me.

I agree the Miui's weakness to be the Cam........
after flashing MIUI i must say i'm impressed. Nice and Smooth. The only thing i don't like it the launcher, but i have Launcher Pro at hand
Camcorder MIUI very bad, but ram free 60-80M
I've tried them all and honestly I'm finding stock 2.1 to be the best after flashing it last night for the first time since February, though that could change with further testing... In terms of the 2.2 ROMs Steel Epic Blue is great as is MIUI. I found MIUI to be faster and more powerful though (but 2.1 seems even faster and smoother right now strangely.... ).
