Hi. This is a topic that I couldn't find it anywhere. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who need something like that.
I have a Notion Ink Adam Android tablet and I need a USB 3G modem for that. I only know that Huawei E1750 work with it. Also it work with every Android tablet.
Now I want buy a Huawei's 21.6 Mbps modems but I don't know if it works or not, or can it be forced to work with hacking or not.
Is there anyone please help me with that topic?
Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody,
I have been trying to catch up on the recent development in android porting.
Now, I am planning to get a new phone. Since my carrier does not sell the g1, I am wondering which would be the best working alterntive? Meaning which port would allow to use most/all feature of android?
I do need gps working now or in the near future to make this a viable alternative to me.
I have been looking at the ports of which I already know of, being the port to the vogue and to the diamond.
To my understanding (please correct me) the vogue lacks the gps hardware.
So the only device left is the diamond. Or are there any other phones which I have overseen, that sport gps, and a progressing/working port of android?
To sum it all up:
Which device gets the most attention by the dev community regarding the port of android to it?
Which one is at the moment the best working port (which device)?
Which phone poses to be the most promising device for a fully fledge port in the future?
I would be quite thankful, if anybody in the know, or even someone the porting community could give me some insight or even a proper roundup on my options here.
regards and thx for your help and insights in advance,
trial
Vogue has the GPS hardware, but AFAIK, GPS is far off for any Android port.
General Mobile is coming out with an alternative Android phone, it also has dual sim slots.

I'm waiting for this to come out and to see some reviews.
Check the Google Android developer page.
You can buy a developer version phone for $399
All you have to do is register as a developer which cost $25(I think).
Edit: Not really for porting to but you did mention you couldn't get a G1, so I'm assuming you're open to a native Android phone.
ok guys.
first of all, thx for your replies.
i am not really planning to get the real g1 (even the dev version), since i am not really satisfied with its hw.
i figured it'd be easier to get a used htc device off ebay, which would be capable of running android.
So, I'd be willing to wait - which device looks the most promising in running a full android port?
Is there any effort whatsoever on the gps for the vogue or any other device? Is it likely that it will work at all?
thx for your info again
I think the question does not need any more explanations.
Maybe someone that has the transformer can check this...
I highly doubt it.
I very much doubt it with the Asus stock ROM but I would hazard a guess and say that this may be possible with custom ROMs. It wouldn't make sense for Asus to support this as they will be selling a 3G version so it would be detrimental to their sales strategy.
I tested some "No name" android 2.1 / 2.2 tablets with stock kernel and the 3G dongle was recognized and more, GSM signal was displayed.
I see that a 3G modem is detected on Xoom, but no one tested this to the end.

Why not? Why would Asus care if you buy 3G or WiFi version as long as you buy one of them?

I'd imagine that Asus wouldn't care but any carrier they have a deal with to push the tablet might have issue with it.
It is hit or miss with tablets from what I'm aware of. I don't think it worked with the gtablet out of the box.
I can't imagine drivers and software for Honeycomb to support those USB 3g dongles...
I can imagine getting a Mifi or similar mobile wifi hotspot though and using it with the TF and other devices.

its very easy to figure out, if you're a developer, and you check the /proc/config.gz you know if its compiled with support for 3G dongle and which (huawai works 99% and a few others and some which not even yet has linux drivers ready)
so that will confirm, that xoom probably have no stock kernel support, and same goes for asus pad here...
On Folio100 we had to re-compile the kernel and re-write special pppoe drivers to make it work..(DerArtem made all this)
your reference tablet from china was a special edition, that they made drivers fror and a kernel with support for it.. and its was indeed 2.1...
most other chinatab's did not have 3g simslot or support..(stock does not mean android stock, but company default chosen kernel which can be with alot of functionality, or none at all, stripped to do what is needed and nothing more)
Hey Guys,
I have a little question here.
I bought a K3520 Dongle for my tablet, but it doesnt work no the tablet.
How do i configure him, so it will work ???
Thanks !
Anyone????
i would very much aswell love a way to use a usb 3g modem on my android tablet if any1 know how to do this
same question here, please help
Hi
have anybody tested this modem in the hp touchpad?

Are there any driver for Android oder WebOS?

I don't know if there are going to bemany people who are willing to crack open their TPs to test this. I would also doubt that there are going to be any android drivers since that would require that the developers have a TP with this installed. Very unlikely.
Thanks for this fox!! I was always wanting to see about adding a radio card to the TP. I knew the difference between the cell version and regular version of the TP had to be a simple module connected either via ribbon, coaxial, or both. Some simple empty space ready for a radio card to be plugged into it. I guess I was partially right. :3
I really will consider doing this. Although I am loyal to T-Mobile USA and it doesn't seem to support this Going to check out some disassembly videos and see what I'm up against. But it would be nice to have a cell-capable TP.
Bookmark saved, thanks again!
What about this one?
Ericsson F3307
Seems to be the same one used in epad, so I'm guess there are drivers for it; so I'm guessing it can be used on android, but for webos it'd need porting - maybe from the android version or the linux version (don't know what the dependencies are).
Or maybe others too.

I just want to save someone from damaging their TouchPad doing this mod. The modem will not work on a WiFi model since their boards are different. The 4G model has the connection for the AT&T modem whereas the WiFi model doesn't have the connection present. I've learnt this through swapping parts out for servicing my TouchPad 4G on a mule TouchPad WiFi.
when and how will bcmon support come to the oneplus one (bacon) I need to be able to use Reaver for Android, and AircrackGUI for pentesting. If no one is willing to develop for bcmon for this device can someone tell me how i can get bcmon working or perhaps other alternative and recommended pentesting software for android in general.
help

someone please respond preferably a developer familiar with bcmon and android pentesting.
I, too, am highly interested in this. I have installed the application but it says something about firmware not detected. I am rooted.

I was looking into this and you must have a Broadcom chipset in the phone for bcmon to work. If the OPO does not have a Broadcom chipset the bcmon will never work.
So the question is, does the OPO have a Broadcom chipset? If so then maybe an email off to the bcmon devs may get support started.

I seen this too, but through my searching I couldn't find any information on the chipset in the opo.

@beastlykings... sorry for the OT here, but you can't root using the method shown in your link anymore after updating to the new OTA...
I would also love to see a way to get the network chip into monitor mode, but it's not a broadcom, so the bcmon tool won't work,
However maybe there is a different way?

According to teardowns, no. It has a Qualcomm WCN3680 chipset including the Wifi controller supported by a Skyworks 85709-11 "frontend chip" (educated guess: amplifier and signal noise handling)
usb otg cable and usb wifi dongle?

ok guys i've been looking around and apparently the only way to get monitor mode working for this device is to use a usb otg cable connected to an external wifi card that actually supports monitor mode the full details are here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/kali-linux.58134/page-2 ugh i dont want to do all that just for some basic pentesting functionality hopefully someone can get monitor mode working natively on the oneplus one's stock wifi chipset. at least we got multirom for the oneplus one

maybe we can discuss all other methods of pentesting on our oneplus one's? I personally use the dsploit nightlies quite often, so what are your penetration testing/hacking solutions for this phone?
