I noticed that if I press the voicemail button or long press 1 in the dialer that TMo voice mail picks up.
How do I change this to GV? I've got GV set as my vm provider in call settings.

You access your GV voicemail through the GV app.

I was using goolge voice for voicemail on my Samsung epic. But when I started using it for my nexus my sms messages go to Google voice. How do I stop the text messages and keep the voicemail? Currently I disabled Google voice.

Did you "integrate," migrate, port... whatever you wanna call it, your Sprint number over to Google Voice?
That's what I did, and while I liked the feature, I couldn't send or receive picture messages anymore.
I had to delete GV from my phone, sign up for a new GV account/ number, and then start all over from the beginning when I did this.
I clicked the update me link on the GV website to enable picture/ MMS in GV texting, for further updates to see if it becomes available. If in the future they give us the ability to send/ receive MMS/ picture messages through GV, I'll be going back. Until now, I'll stick with it just for voicemail usage.
All I've done to fix this is to log in to Google Voice on my computer and disable the "integration" with my cell phone number. This has done the trick for me many times when I change ROMs. I see that you already disabled the service, so I'm not sure why you would still be getting your text messages sent to GV.
Jerbech Is correct ..same thing I did

Yeah I have it disabled. But I am no longer getting voicemail. So I would like to stop the SMS messages but still be able to get voicemail.

Its one of the options on the computer, turn off SMS sent to phone option. Hope that's what you meant.
There a few guides here in the Nexus S forums on how to disable Google Voice for calls and texts while still getting VM through GV. Look around and you will find it. If I remember right you go to voice.google.com click on the gear in upper right hand corner of page and choos voice settings. Unport your Sprint # and get a new or use your already existing GV #. Then down by your Mobile number on the settings page click where it says activate google voicemail on this phone and follow instructions. Then change settings on your phone from My Carrier to Google Voice under voicemail and you should be good to go.
I use Google Voice for voicemail but what irritated me was that the speed dial for Voicemail would call T-Mobile's Voicemail. I found a way to change it to call the Google Voice number. Sometimes it is easier to call Google Voice to check messages then using the app and faster. The speed dial number is set from the SIM card everyone the phone is turned on or restarted, but T-Mobile network is programmed to forward the calls to Google Voice. Just follow these steps and the Speed Dial (The #1 key and the Voicemail button on the bottom right) well be set to Google Voice. The only bad thing is that since the SIM card sets this it will have to be done every time the phone is restarted.
1) Go to Settings, Call Settings, Voicemail
2) If it shows Google Voice skip this step, pick Voicemail service and then pick Google Voice (I have received errors before but just start over)
3) Pick Voicemail and on the next screen pick Voicemail number (You should see a message about accessing, this is the phone getting the number from the network)
4) Now pick Voicemail service and pick Google Voice (wait a moment and you should get a popup that the number has been changed)
You are done and can go back to home and or you can test it. Just remember when the phone is restarted this had to be done again.

So whenever I get a missed call the person on the otherline gets a Google voice mail messenger, does anyone know why and how I can get it to my normal voicemail.

So I have Google Voice which I use exclusively for voicemail. I never call from the number and never text from the number. By default, I've been using Hangouts as my SMS app since I got my N5.
Starting on 1/31, every time I send an an SMS from my phone, its coming from my GV number and not my carrirer's number.
Uninstalling GV solved the issue. Reinstalling GV broke it again.

Turns out it was Voice+ Cyanogen mod that was ****ing everything up........
Yes I had the same issue. You don't need to uninstall GV though, just go your phone settings under wireless and networks, click more, then click on the VOICE+, and choose disable.

That's an error that has persisted for years. Go into Google voice, choose to have it handle voicemail. Go to the normal phone dialer, go to settings, go to voicemail, choose voice. Then, go back to the dialer and dial *73 followed directly by your Google voice number (I.e. If my Google voice number is 9734546666, I dial *739734546666), it'll ring half a ring and then hangs up, confirming your voicemail is now forwarding to Google voice.
Trust me. I've been a sprint user for 18 years and have used Google voice for my voicemails for ably 4 years. I've changed phones a number of times and this always works, just did it a week ago with my new pixel

Where do you choose to have it handle voicemail? I don't see the setting in gv website. So in the dialer there's no option but carrier either
In the app. For what we're talking about every setting is in the phone app.
In settings, you need to link your phones number into the app. Then under calls, **** forward calls, then check off your number on the page that comes up. After this, Google Voice should show up under voicemail settings in the calls section of settings under the dialer.

Weird, still no option in dialer settings. Ugh!
For some reason, I don't either now, which is weird. But it's working after I set it up in GV and dial the code *73 with my voicemail qnumber
