Hell yeah,our DHDs are cool!
Mine gets up to 35 C,but it's overclocked @1728MHz!

Mines goes up to 40 C when heavy heavy cpu use, most of the time under 30 C.
It went up to like 45 C when i overclocked to 1.4ghz.

Coolest is 23°c, hottest is 45°. not rooted, stock froyo

Funnily enough now that I've rooted it and overclocked it it doesn't get as hot as it did before. Specially when playing Angry Birds.
Boy, that game made me think I was frying my U8110 I never measured it, but definitely quite hot x>38ºC

Hottest I've seen mine was 39C but that was at 2Ghz lol.

Seen 37C as the hottest...

Just got my Nexus S and running at stock speeds it goes up to 40c, not so bad though. Coolest I've seen it is 28c.

Lol nice; os it that much faster at 1.7?
Im getting 1.3 out of mine now and loving it; although the temperature of the room plays a large part in the temp of the phone; I rarely have it.under 75.

Hell yeah it is faster! It kinda feels like a dual-core!
And room temperature plays a huge role in how hot the phone gets, make no mistake about that. But the DHD's aluminium unibody is quite good in keeping the phone cold enough!

good

Highest Ive seen is 34 degrees Celsius, overclocked at 1.516ghz and multitasking away. Lowest Ive seen is 16 degrees Celsius. I have a SetCPU profile set so that if it ever sees 37.1 degrees Celsius it underclocks it drastically but haven't gotten close yet.

I haven't seen my MT4G go over 35C except once, and it only got that hot when I had it OC'd to 1.4GHz.

My highscore is 60 degrees (Celsius), just plug Galaxy S to charging and run Dungeon Defenders for 5 minutes ;p

The hottest my G2 been was 111 degrees lol because i was at 1.8 ghz.

Is it dangerous heating the phone to up to 41C every day?

So I started playing this game Order and Chaos Online (kinda MMO similar to WoW) and the temps get very high, up to 41C on WiFi and 43C on 3g. The phone is burning to a point that it hurts my hand. I'm playing aprox 2-3 hours per day, sometimes maybe 4 hours, how dagerous is that to the phone? Can it do any significat damage over time?
I am using the jame bond kernel at 1ghz, which is also a bit undervolted, don't know the values tho, governer is set to ondemand. I tried to underclock it to 800mhz but the game lags sometimes and is a no-go.
ukhm, khm....
Well if the phone is heating up and it sounds pretty bad, I'm pretty sure its dangerous. Maybe not, but IMO it is. My Sprint HTC Hero has over heated a few times and after that it had small little dots on the screen. Hopefully your phone don't fry.

Mines usually sits between 34°C - 36°C, its seems like a normal temp IMO. I've never had my phone hit 41°C before and I sometimes i tether my phone via usb and it still dosent hit that high. If your is hitting that high, it could also be the temp around your home or something. But I wouldn't use your phone to play MMO, especially if your playing 2-4hrs everyday. Just saying..

Well I'm at stock right now because I'm waiting for the ota tomorrow. But I was using koushdecks 1.2.1 with matr1x kernel 4.0 bfs version. Clocked it up to 1.3ghz - 100hz, switched between smatass to ondemand everyone ounce in awhile and I still was at 36°C. I use setcpu's widget to always check my temp and it never goes higher then 36°C. Fact.

Can anyone else pls tell their usual temps, this got me a bit worried. On browsing the net I achieve 38C, on some intensive games I can get over 40C. When idle it usually stays at 30C, sometimes in the morning I find it with 28C. Is this normal?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk

During use, phone heats up to 41c/104f regularly.. this cant be normal?

Just web browsing over 3g for 20-30 min will heat the phone up pretty warm to the.touch. it also drains about 1% per 1 min of 3g browsing not even streaming. I'm still on 1.73 att. No apps in background and there is no idle battery drain. Is this normal? I'm guessing not brightness is set way under half
This happened to me only when I'm on like YouTube for a while but mine reaches like 110° F :-(

mine gets hot as well just by browsing. it is right on the bottom left of where the camera is
If I just check FB or draw something, this phone will start searing my thigh when I put it back in my pocket. This phone is definitely HOT(not in a good way...)
I have had 0 heat issues (can only feel it heat up while charging)
Maybe this is because I had the iPad 3, so nothing seems hot in comparison
mine only heats up when im charging and using it at the same time (playing games usually)
Maybe someone should make a poll because I'm having zero heat issues. Played few games the other day while waiting for my gf's OBGYN doctor to come in and check out our soon to be baby and we was playing for a good half hour. Barely any heat at all. Charging produces hardly any heat if any heat at all (noticeably anyways).
The highest I've seen so far was 41C while using wifi tether. Since I came from Nitro HD, which goes to 63C when voice talk on skype or gtalk, and makes your brain boil, this didn't bother me a bit...
Mine only gets hot when I use google navigation, which is understandable. It gets warm when I play hanging with friends, but in my experience that game spikes the processor the entire time it's open.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
No heat issues at all for me, I tried to put as much load on the phone as I could to test this issue and all is well, it got warm to the touch but no more than any other smartphone I've used in the last ~6 years...
41c is not hot. My Atrix used to rocket up to 60-70. That was too hot. Think about it: 104 is barely warm enough for a hot tub. You can run a fever of 104 and be ok. Yeah, it's high for a person, but come on - dual 1.5ghz with a HD screen? They can't make that stuff make cold instead of heat!! Just saying...
It stays well under 50c. In my mind... *perfect*

Indeed it does! Thanks for the laugh also. I can't see that too many things would warm up the phone more than that. You are using the internet, GPS, and putting a heavy load on the battery at the same time after all.

I am coming from an LG Thrive and using GPS never got as hot as this phone or got hot as fast either. The only time it did get hot was if the sun shined right on it. I put my screen to never shut off and run google maps so that it would update to latitude. The HOX definitely gets very hot on a cloudy day when my Thrive would be just warm if that

Just so we're clear, good build quality will often make the exterior of a device hotter. This helps keep the all-important interior cooler. Having my phone feel hot while being measurably at reasonable temperatures is good! You must be careful not to base your opinion of the device's thermal management on subjective senses rather than measured fact.

Oh I don't doubt that the phone has better thermal management. I was nearly stating the fact that it gets very hot when placed on your lap and doing nav... Can't really argue that one.

And I won't argue the subjective notion of heat on your lap during nav! I know 105-110 feels pretty doggone warm (I had to check the temp to make sure it wasn't overheating), but if the exterior is only a couple degrees different than the interior...? That's good stuff right there.
My phone does seem warm to me now that i think about it but it seems to happen when it wants..
yesterday i noticed it would get pretty warm (not ridiculously hot though) when i would be on it for a few minutes (texting, tweeting, the usual).
but then today it was just fine. it was warm but not like it was yesterday.
not sure if i'm just not used to having a phone with this type of casing, (i had an Inspire previously and it didn't seem to get too hot.) i would figure a phone with a plastic or similar material casing would feel warmer compared to something like with a metal back (correct me if i'm wrong )
I don't think that this phone should get hot. It uses a 28nm process while being just a dual core processor. I think that the voltage might be higher than it should be. We need custom kernels and roms for this baby!!!

Phone overheating

Hey guys. I have my processor overclocked to 1.8ghz and on charge. I was playing ashaplt 7 heat when my phone suddenly rebooted. Picked it up form my desk and it was extremely hot. When it finished booting, a screen came up and said several apps had stopped. So I unplugged the phone from the charger and rebooted again. This time it booted up fine. Went into kernel tuner and the cpu was 136 degrees and cooling down. Viper xl with beastmode has always been pretty stable on my phone so I'm pretty sure it overheated. Just wondering if anyone else has a problem with their phone overheating.

There's your problem..
Charing gives off heat
Intense Usage/Graphics gives off heat
Overclocking gives off heat
all of that is too much
136 degrees is also too much.. My computer never runs that hot
anything below 110 Fahrenheit should be stable/safe

Thats what I wasn't sure of: whats too hot for the S4. Just browsing the web it stays at about 85-100 degrees on my phone. My computer on the other hand runs at a considerably higher temp. 110 to 125 I would say with turbo boost turned off. When playing NFS Shift2 Ive seen it reach 195 degrees! So as you can see these two processors can take too drasticly different temps and I wasn't sure what to expect out of the s4. I guess you're right. Anything under 110 is safe for the s4.

This is confusing me. I prefer Celsius when talking about hardware..
but when Outside temperature, talking in Celsius confuses the hell out of me.. so I use Fahrenheit for that situtation
What the? Your confusing me grim hahaha!! I never could translate Celsius into Fahrenheit.....

36 is about normal for good use on balanced mode. Mine will go to about 55 in performance on an OC kernel which feels very warm! Hottest I ever haad was 62 and that felt uncomfortably hot. 38 will be fine.
The tegra 3 thermal limit is 85c i believe, so you're fine.
wow thats hot lol i guess there is no worries here then lol
38° is fine. Nothing to worry about. I've seen tests where it got quite higher after just 10mins of gaming, but it was still within the threshold. It got a little uncomfortable, though.

CPU temp 70 degrees celsius

Hi
The temp of the CPU in my note 10.1 reaches 70 degrees Celsius during gaming...
Is that a normaal temp ? It is measured by System Tuner (by 3C)
During normal use it reaches 45 to 50 degrees.
It is not overclocked, but undervolted bij 50.

It seems a little high. Should be idleing around 35c or so and high around 50-60c. Dont quote me though lol

It seems high, I will try to heat mine up today to see where I can max out out. At 70 C, that's like 160 F, that's hot enough to cook an egg my friend. Even at 60 C, I would worry. Does it get noticeably hot? Mine can get warm, but not hot, and I feel it in the upper left corner when looking at the screen.

Well...it is hot out here (weather). The back top left corner feels warm...not hot....like a little warmer than my skin...i think around 40 celsius.
I flashed rom again with no tweaks what so ever. When stressing the cpu now it gets 60 celsius
I did the same test with my cellphone...note 2....and it gets the same temp. Can it be that these note devices just get hot? I haven't got probs with both. Just wondering about the temps

Interesting, well I guess if you have no problems, maybe it's still in a safe temperature range, mine never got over 40 C., for what it's worth. Also, I maxed out my RAM. I have never seen it, but I thought there was a warning if things got too hot.

I'm not much of a gamer, Asphalt is the game I used to get it warm, it's the warmest running app I have. Still doesn't get that hot, I would try with it plugged in, however the touch screen gets a tad wonky when I use it plugged in. Does 70 C, 158 F seem too hot to you?

Lol, agreed, mine stays 30-35. The OP, in their first post gave some stats. I wasn't sure on acceptable temps, but my brothers Note 2 shut down from overheating, I imagine the Note 10.1 would behave similarly.
