Hi guys,
I installed the Android Revolution rom for my HTC Desire HD this morning, just to test it. Works great, but, I want to remove it and get back to my original HTC rom. However, when I try to restore the backup with the Rom Manager the phone will boot and get stuck at the HTC bootloader (the HTC image). Also I tried different options when I did a hard reset, but nothing seems to work.
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Dirk
There have been some problems with the latest version of Clockworkmod recovery. If this is what you have been using it it may be worth trying a previous version of it and then trying your backup restore again.
Thnx for the reply!
I used Rom Manager for backup and restore. From the author Clockworkmod. Is that the same?
Why not flash a stock rom and push it to sdcard to flash?

I am looking for a stock but can't find it. I was hoping there was a nice way to just remove the custom rom and restore my old backup.
Look for instructions on how to flash Odin.
Odin is only for Samsung?

Will this guide work for my Nexus S? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061855
Sorry newbie here, just want to be really really sure as I followed a poor guide somewhere and got stuck up with the google logo and lock on boot, hence was forced to install cyanogen.

Okay..so to close my question. I just followed this and everything went back to stock.
theunlockr.com/2011/01/20/how-to-unroot-the-nexus-s
1. followed the link above.
2. I remain rooted but recovery went back to stock. no more clockwork.
3. after booting, was alerted of a 2.3.4 update..so I updated again.
4. marketplace has been upgraded to the new interface (probably bec of the update)
5. to install screenshot app and fontchanger..I needed to have super user, so I just installed Clockwork (recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-) again and installed SU (su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip) via SD card install.
6. so far, everything's good.
If you have some questions, feel free to ask.

Is there a way to return to stock while keeping CWM ?
You can stay on stock rom while you are rooted. You can google it. I got my 2.3.4 from ardoid.com
Its a stock rom with added arabic support. Since you dont need arabic. It wont make any difference to you.

I'm not asking for keeping root, only to revert back to stock while keeping CWM
Clockworkmod will stay on your phone. As far as i know, all your phone recoveries will be done through cwm

I read somewhere that flashing a stock ROM will restore the stock boot/recovery. Is it true ?
That i cant answer u. But i can say that i went back and forth between roms. Reverting to stock when needed. CWM stayed on my phone.

Is it possible to backup roms and restore them with clockwork recovery? I just rooted and installed cw probably a weekago. I downloaded and flashed "energy rom" I didn't like it because imo it had slightly less battery life so i tried to restore my backup of the stock rom but instead of it working right after it got stuck at the htc logo boot screen. I had to download stock which found out I needed a computer to even get stock back. So my question about can I backup and restore at least stock rom without needing to use that ruu file?

you can always restore your backups via recovery, as long as your backed up before you flashed whatever you do not want anymore. be sure to back up before you flash anything your not sure of.
Ok thanks for the reply. I know you can restore backups i've done it on my myTouch 4G and g2x. Problem was that I didn't like the rom I flashed tried to go back to stock from my backup and i got stuck at the htc bootscreen.

And since to get stock back I needed to download the ruu file on my computer so i wasn't sure if that was the only way.

You can always wipe and reflash whatever rom you choose without any back ups also.

You'll just have to reflash your original rom.

Hey there, I have a rooted HTC Sensation. I recently installed CM9 on my phone, before doing that however I made a backup of my stock ROM using Clockworkmod touch which I flashed using a fastboot command, I then wiped and installed CM9. I installed ROM manager after and pressed the button to install CMW to see if there was any updates, instead of updating it downgraded my CWM to a non touch version. I have made backups of CM9 using the non touch based CWM, my question is that will my older version of CWM restore a backup that was created from a newer CWM? Or... if I reflash a Clockworkmod touch recovery again, would I be able to access my original stock ROM and my CM9 ROM as well?
Many thanks
Jake
First of all, this is a question and therefore should be asked in the Q&A section. Regarding your question, I would go ahead and flash 4Ext touch. It is fully compatible with CWM backups, and touch-enabled.
I agree with above post, install 4ext recovery, it's a great recovery and very easy to use. It has many features! You won't regret installing it. You can get the download here on xda or even download it from the play store! It's the best recovery I've ever used! It will make things easier for you. Also I believe some roms require 4ext. Recovery. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
