[Q] Flashing AVA ROM Issues - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I have an HTC EVO 4G. I rooted it a few days ago using Unrevoked 3 because I wanted the free wifi tether app. I then realize how much rooting my phone really opens up for me. So I downloaded ROM Manager and flashed the ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.5 on it. I then flashed a custom ROM. I wiped all data and flashed it. I am running Fresh Evo 3.5.0.1. I decided I wanted to try a different ROM and I noticed one that has hulu. It is AVA FROYO Z3. I downloaded the ROM, wiped all data, and tried to flash it. When I did I got this error message:
“Amend Scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was depreciated by Google in Android 1.5
It was necessary to remove it when updating to the Clockwork Mod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip package”
And then the flash failed and I had to install from a recovery. Anyone know why it wont let me flash this ROM. I would appreciate it.
By the way this is what my software information is:
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.11.10

The new version of CWM (v3) uses a new script to install ROMs. If a ROM hasn't been updated to the new updater script, CWM3 won't be able to install it. You're SOL until AVA gets an update, or you roll CWM back to a v2 build
Sent from my Uber Incredible

Will downgrading to CWM2 have any negative affects on my phone? How would I go about downgrading if I decided to? And can I upgrade back to version 3 if need be in the future?

It shouldn't have any bad effects. You can do it through ROM Manager (Install Older Recovery of something like that, pick one of the v2 options) and you can upgrade to 3 again through ROM Manager when you want to.

Looking for a 2.2 with the Permissions Stripped to Flash on Rooted N1

The title says it all.
With the first pre-release of 2.2 that leaked, someone stripped to permissions that required an unrooted device with the stock recovery.
I am running the latest version of CM with ClockworkMod Recovery.
Thanks

[Q] Downgrading From ClockworkMod V3 to V2

And then the flash failed and I had to install from a recovery. I was told that the clockworkmod version 3 uses a script that isnt supported by this rom and I am out of luck until they update their rom or I downgrade back to a clockwork version 2. Will downgrading to CWMv2 have any negative affects on my phone? How would i go about downgrading? and is it possible to upgrade back to CWMv3 if needed?

cm6 to blackend e4g 0.0.1a 2.3.3 lost root and access to cwm recovery

Have an evo 4g recently flashed blackend e4g 0.0.1a [2.3.3] . I had CM6 running strong and was able to flash CM7 OMGB Fresh and a bunch more. After flashing blackend I lost root access . I can't get into recovery manually or through rom manager. I tried to reroot using revolutionary method for 2.3.3 and it tells me my hboot version is not supported [ hboot version 0.93.0000 ] Simply put stuck like chuck. Searched google and this forum hope I landed in the right place thanks.
Using CWM recovery android 2.3.3 Baseband version 2.15.00.07.28 kernel version 2.6.35.10-g13578ee build 4.53.651.1 cl133994 release-keys
Lost root
I am having the same problem. With blackened. When I go to titanium backup, I am told the app will not work on a phone that is not rooted. Also when I tried to flash a recovery from rom manager nothing happens it just stalls.
Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] Do you need ROM Manager to flash ICS 4.0.3?

Hey this is my first time posting - I have a rooted Rogers Samsung Captivate i897 that I upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.4 in November (with an AT&T based ROM). I am trying to upgrade the firmware to the new ICS 4.0.3 that is now available for this model as I am looking for something new.
So, I did some research and followed the directions that were posted (got ROM Manager, downloaded nightly .zip files & GApps). I then tried to back up my ROM using ROM manager (didn't work but thats OK I have the ROM file on my PC). And did the factory restore/cache wipe and tried to flash the .zip files from my SD and it didn't work.
Here is what it says when I try to flash:
"E: failed to verify whole-file signature"
"E: signature verification failed"
Question 1) What could be causing this error?
Question 2) Should I try to flash a stock ROM first before attempting to flash ICS?
Question 3) do I really need to use ROM Manager?? Is there another method available (flashing from PC from Odin)?
I am hesitant about doing this on the fly because when I updated to Gingerbread in November I had a good scare with my phone - soft bricked it, fixed that, and then got it stuck in a boot loop, then had issues with boot logo conflict between Rogers a AT&T. I was out of a phone for about a day working madly to fix it. I would like to avoid it again at all cost.
Phone Information:
Firmware Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version: I897UCKH3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I897UCKH3-CL461307
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UCKH3
Please help I appreciate it!!

Droid 2 global rooting problems

I could use some help. I have rooted my droid 2 global and i am trying to load a custom rom but when i do it fails every time, i am trying to load on cm7. i have android version 2.2 and system version 2.3.20.a955.verizon.en.us.
I have superuser and Droid 2 bootstrap installed. There is a system update but it will not install. I have looked though some threads and some say i have to upgrade versions so that i can down grade to 2.3 and then install custom rom but no one says how to do that.
If you are wanting to go to CM7, you definitely do not want to update the D2G to the latest update first. I haven't done anything with CM, so can't help you there, but if you update to the latest update for the D2G, you can never return to an earlier version.
You can safely go to the .608 update and then come back to Froyo, but not to the .629 (android 2.3.4). It can still be rooted and all, but you are stuck with roms compatible with that kernel.

You aren't using a DROID2 GLOBAL.
A955 is the DROID2, the regular CDMA-only model.
CM7 on the DROID2 is tailored for 2.3.x based kernels and needs 4.5.x firmware to run.
Do not update to 4.5.621; there was a 2.3.3 update for this device which you probably want to install.
To do that you need to either remove the logwrapper hijack or just flash the SBF image of the one featuring Android 2.3.3: 1FF-p2a_droid2_cdma_droid2-user-2.3.3-4.5.1_57_DR2-31-110719-release-keys-signed-Verizon-US.sbf.gz from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_droid2/list.php (do not use the 2.3.4 one).
Flashing an SBF image will not wipe your user data.
Once on Android 2.3.3, use Super One-Click Root Script or any other similar tool to gain root, rename the Blur Updater (see the DROID2 Global section at http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/Welcome — the files listed there should apply to your device as well), install Droid2 Bootstrap Recovery and update it using ROM Manager to the latest version (look here for instructions on updating: http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery). Make a Nandroid Backup using CWM, and you're all set.
