[Q] Nexus S GPS Problem/Would custom rom fix it? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Nexus S and a Samsung Intercept. When I place them side by side using google maps....the Intercept GPS locations finds where I am at and the blue arrrow stays there. The Nexus S GPS finds my location but every few second the blue arrow jumps around the whole block. I thought the Nexus S GPS was fixed If I flashed my phone with CM7 or Bionix would it fix my GPS?

[Q] no fix gps nexus s

Can anyone help me, I have just bought a nexus s but I can't get any fix with my a-gps. Google maps and navigation don't find any fix...
Go outside where you have a clear view of the sky, stand still, and wait. If the first fix takes longer than 20 minutes, then you have a problem.
OTA to 2.3.3 and now no fix

What is your gingerbread version?
When I fist got my SNS, I thought a little hard to lock satelites. If you are in movement like in a car, it´s kind of dificult. But in clear sky, without moving, it locks in a minute or less.
At the actual version, 2.3.3, at clear sky is quite fast to lock on satellite...

GPS Navigation

Hey boys
So I was wondering if anyone has tried this and that GPS navigation app to see which one looks the best on the XOOM.
I've tried MOTONAV (the same version I use on my Nexus One) and it works except it only takes up a portion of the XOOM screen (it's 800x400)
Anyone got the name of a working GPS app that takes up the whole XOOM screen (and in this case, can be used without data... i.e. has pre-installed maps like MOTONAV)
Thanks
If you download spare parts and disable compatibility mode apps that are fixed to phone resolution should take up the whole screen.

GPS application crashing hangs the GPS sensor

Hello
I have a HTC HD2 flashed with ParanoidAndroid 1.5b. I was trying to run the Sygic GPS navigator but it crashes after a while with ICS. This is not a problem with the ROM but with the application. So far so good. However, I found out that since the application opened the GPS to try to get a fix, when it crashed it left the GPS "on" (although the icon on the status bar disappeared after a while). I tried another GPS navigation program but it couldn't get a fix. I thought it was the GPS configuration, so I changed it to reflect my region (Europe, Greece). But to no avail. Whatever I tried, I couldn't get a fix. I rebooted the device and tried GPS status, it got a fix after a minute or so. If I run Sygic (which crashes) again, it is impossible to get a GPS fix afterwards. If an application that uses the GPS crashes while the GPS is on, it leaves the sensor working. However, there is no indication that there is a problem, as the icon disappears after a while, and gets back on when another app tries to use the sensor. It just can't get a fix. What's more, the battery starts to drain after that (easy to spot with Current Widget, since the draw goes from 6-7mAh to 105-107mAh)
Switching the GPS on and off (from the notification drawer) does not fix the problem. The only solution is to reset the device.
My question (finally) is: is there another solution to "resetting" the sensor to its original (after the boot) state?
Best regards
George

Gps 90 degrees off

Gps 90 degrees off ?
Lock is good usually have more than 6 satellites & accuracy within 10 ft but north is pointing east
This happens in gps status , gps test , compass apps & maps
I am currently on jelly wiz stock kernel but this has been a problem on all the jellybean roms Ive tried
Done the gps fix & agps data update they didnt make any difference
Anyone else had this happen and or know of a fix?
Dont really want to go back to ICS
So your COMPASS, (not the GPS) is off.
From the menu in GPS status, try the compass calibrate.
Do not calibrate near any metal or magnets (keep it away from speakers).

Did the calibrate & same result
I dont know if the gps is reading wrong or the compass
This is really odd Google maps actually turns sideways like canada is on the right side?
All gps apps show north pointing east
Guess I will have to try flashing a stock rom to se if that corrects problem
First time I've had this happen that it didn't straiten out in a few days
Ok the google maps sideways was my fault must have hit the orientation button in the upper right corner OOPS
So now its most likely the compass as the previous post said
Now its a matter of how the heck do I get the compass calibrated
Probably need to clear the data some how
Gogle is my friend I hope

Did you ever figure this out? I have a similar issue with my compass
I'm pretty sure this was a bug in some custom kernels, specifically KT747, ktoonsez has since fixed this problem in his latest kernel revisions.

Gps not working properly

In my device Gps in google maps is not working properly.
First time it wont show the exact location after closing and reopening it sets the location correct. But if i move, it can't track it and go into grey dot.
But the google navigation works perfectly.
Anyone else facing this issue?

I am facing the same issue but on LineageOS 16.0. I tried to use GPS Locker to find satellites but none were found. I was also using the magisk optimized GPS file replacement. If anyone knows anything, please help. Not having GPS sucks.
My GPS on stock android is also not to good. Sometimes it shows badly my location and often it does not detect directions well. Arrow is pointed in wrong direction and when I move it is moving to the sides not forward. Also when I launch Harry potter game my character is also walking sideways. I tried to calibrate compass but is does not help to much.
My issue is gone now... I did nothing different just regularly updated my phone...also haven't tried any of there games so can't confirm if this is present there
