[Q] Vibration Intensity? - HTC Inspire 4G

This is my first HTC phone and I just came from the Captivate. On the Captivate you had control on the vibration intensity with the UI touching and when you get a text. I'm having trouble finding where to change the intensity. But I do have the Vibrate mode on.

Guys, I know there is an answer out there. Yes you can change the intensity or no you cannot. If you can change the intensity, please tell me how.

Maybe you just can't? I mean logically most people think you could but iif so, why would they make it so hard to find?
Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon

Nope. I also would like to change the intensity. Too strong and kind of loud. But there's no option for this in the Inspire 4G. I think that goes for the Desire HD too. I know that some roms give you that option. But you have to be rooted and don't know what roms for the Inspire is good out there. Correct if I'm wrong people about the intensity "setting".

if you use the handcent sms app you can change some of those settings

[Q] Low Volumes

I purchased the HTC Inspire 4G exactly five days ago today primarily because it is hearing aid compatible. I think the phone has fantastic features and I really like it. However, the volumes are the worst I have ever heard on a cell phone. I am hearing deficient and I cannot hear this HTC when it rings. The volumes are turned to their max and still they are very low (both ring and notification). I have downloaded various ringtones and still the volumes are inadequate. I recently discovered that people that call me cannot hear me unless I use a headset for some reason. One would think that a cell phone which is hearing aid compatible would have volumes loud enough for the hearing impaired. I still have seven days to return this phone and I think it has to go unless I can find a solution to both problems. I have seen several places where people have flashed various ROMs to increase the volumes, but I am not interested in such a solution since it will violate the agreement with AT&T. With so many intelligent people/developers on this site, can someone help?
Hey man, I highly recommend rooting and installing a custom ROM. Every one I've tried on this device has louder volume and it's a recognized issue with this phone in it's stock form. ATT always botches the software on HTC phones and the folks here do a good job of cleaning up their mess. AT&T will not know (I've done this with 5 HTC devices now) anything about your rooting shenanigans unless you send it in for warranty replacement and it still turns on. If the screen is broken or the display otherwise does not work then there is no way they can tell using the methods they check with. They just try to turn it on and if the bootup is different than stock that's when they get mad. if you need to return your phone after rooting and flashign for warranty repair, then there are threads here to unroot (just use the stock rom updater; it flashes stock rom and radio and kills root but not s-off, but getting s-on isn't hard either). Go ahead and root/flash per the instructions in the dev section. I recommend twopumpchump's optimized stock ROM for starters. I haven't had an issue with it so far. If and when you need to warranty exchange your device, just PM me and I'll find the proper threads for you.
The volume on the inspire is really low compared to other handsets. At this point, some custom roms do increase the volume but not by very much.
The calling problem is probably a defect with the phone.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the responses. Well, although I did not want to root, it seems like my only option. I thought about returning the phone to AT&T and paying the $35 restocking fee and going to Verizon to buy the Thunderbolt, but after further taught, it doesn’t seem cost effective just for a front facing camera and a kickstand where the low volume might still be an issue. So, I will return the defective phone to AT&T since people can’t hear me on the other end and then root the new phone to increase the volume. Since this will be my first attempt at rooting and flashing a custom ROM, can either of you direct me to a link where I can lean the procession? I want to try twopumpchump's optimized stock ROM as recommended by DeathmonkeyGTX, but first I need to learn how to root and flash. Thanks!

CM7 Has an app called DSP manager which allows you to up the speaker volume. I set mine to a volume right before it gets so loud the speaker starts distorting and its perfect. I highly recommend cyanogenmod. Its what I used on my Nexus One, and its what im using on my inspire now!

Which will help with his call issue but not with the notification volume. I really miss the volume that my N1 had on CM7. This phone is great except that its so quiet.

No. It increases the external speaker volume too.
The only walk around I have found for notification loudness without flashing another rom has been to use a louder sound. Either made myself or found one. With the rom I am using I have to turn the volume down on notifications!

I can confirm. I found the volume to be very low coming from an iPhone 4. I downloaded the "8-Bit" sound pack from HTC Hub and found that most of these were significantly louder than the other options. I set a few for my notifications and can hear the phone now when getting texts and emails.
Non rooted stock Inspire 4G.
Hope this helps others!
I am using the 8bit sounds too.

If you flash CoreDroid 5.1 you will be turning down the volume on your notifications and alarms, at least I did. Even speakerphone is louder. Revolution is another that I found works exceptionall well. I think Coredroid is a little louder and clearer.

In call volume too loud

I am annoyed lately that whenever I get a phone call the volume of the person speaking is so gd loud. I turn in all volume all the way down and its still too loud. Anyone have any idea why this is and if there is a way I can fix it..
Am I the only one experiencing this? My wife has same phone and hers does not do it

I have the same problem... Also had problem on the DINC. What you can do is go into the call settings and turn on hearing aids and that will actually help with the volume it lowers it a little...
Don't ask me why but this is an issue with the HTC's
Have you tried downloading audio manager from the market? Its a free app that allows you to change volume settings and for me it has been more accurate than the built in sound settings.

I have tried that and it did not seem to help as much as turning on hearing aids.
I think is not loud enough. I find myself trying to turn it up after is all the way up.

I am having the same problem on my rooted Thunderbolt.... any ideas how to fix it other than turning it all the way up on a call then turn the volume down? kinda gets annoying..
I agree, the call volume is very loud even though I have the volume turned all the way down. Doesn't bother me too much though...
If you're using BAMF by any chance...
I had the same problem on BAMF Remix. After flashing the patch to remove the call recorder, it has been working perfectly.
flash a differnet kernel. some have an audio "enhancment"
where can I find this? I would like to try it. =)

Whenever I have this problem, I turn it up all of the way and then turn it back down. Works every time.
volume
I flashed the new kernal 4.4.6 with no recorder this morning and it fixed my problem!! I am so happy!!
I also flashed the non recorder version and that cured my way too loud volume. Now I don't have to hold it 3 feet from my ear so I don't go deaf.
Can someone post a link to the patch for removing call recorder please? I find the in call volume way too loud. I've searched through a few hundred pages of different BAMF posts and haven't been able to find the patch.

it's in the first few posts for adrynalyne's froyo kernels (one of his posts).
So do I just install one of his kernels that doesn't have support for call recorder? I still can't find a separate patch to actually remove call recorder. I just want to lower the call volume.
I didn't need to flash anything under the current version of das BAMF. The call volume was way too loud, so I went to das BAMF toolkit, application settings, and removed call recorder.
Problem solved.

[Q] Phone goes to silent after receiving calls

Hi guys,
i hope someone can answer this problem for me, I have an htc sensation, stock rom, not rooted. whenever someone calls me the phone automatically switches to silent mode. Has anyone had this problem too? Can anyone help me solve it please?

Correct me if i'm wrong. i'm a junior too. If not mistaken, there's a setting called Quiet ring on pickup. means the phone will reduce ring volume when u moved or picking up the phone as well. u may found the setting at Setting -> Sound.
hope this will help.

[Q] SMS Notification Lag... UGH!?!? HELP!!!

Hey guys, for anyone that can shed some light upon me on what's going on with my phone would greatly help. Basically, receiving any kind of text message at any time the sound skips/lags/stutters 80% of the time. Its SUPER annoying. I have searched and searched and searched for a solution but cannot find anything. It may be because of the verbiage I am using. I'm not sure. I am on my replacement S3, the first one did it. I got this one, tested it before rooting it, still issue, BRAND NEW NON-ROOTED PHONE! Rooted, tested several ROMS, several notifications, stock/custom, even third party notification managers like LightFlow. Even my girl's virgin S3 has the issue. It really seems like a known issue from my end but NOONE posts about this! I dont know what to do........ Please help someone. Thanks in advance.
I dont have that issue nor have I ever heard of it. Are you using a downloaded sms app or running your own mp3 for a notification?
I don't have that issue. Are u sure light flow isn't messing it up? Clear data on the app and uninstall it. My light works just fine.

Normally, what I prefer to use is LightFlow with custom notifications downloaded from the Zedge app. I will try again to only use default ringtones and also disable LightFlow to see what happens. But guys, this doesn't make any sense. I experienced this issue out the box twice, with nothing extra on the software. I am an advanced user modding and troubleshooting for years. I even work for Verizon as Technical Support Coordinator, but this is literally the first issue I have ever experienced in Android that I just cannot figure out.
I did find a similar issue people are facing which pertains to ringtones cutting off short, not finishing, vibrating until the immediate cut off period. The conclusion to that was supposedly a known issue Samsung needs to correct. But most people don't experience. Which drives me insane!
As I typed this my phone reached the low battery mark and notified me with that low battery sound. THAT JUST LAGGED TOO!!! UGH!! I don't know guys.

I'm using the default text messaging app with notifications turned on, default ringtone silent, vibrate never so that the LightFlow app can take over
