[Q] [q] old skyfire port from wm to android??? - Android Apps and Games

Hey guys i now have an android phone with skyfire 3.2 and its ok and yes it plays vids but i used to have skyfire for my wm phone and it was great. it played vids and flash content right IN THE BROWSER, not jus on vid at a time in the TOOLBAR. The old skyfire was great. Is there anyone willing to port it over? or has it been done already. im sure im not the only one that wants to watch vids right in the browser like an actual desktop.
u can check out the old version for wm here
skyfire.en.softonic.com/pocketpc
if this could be ported it would be great

There's probably good reasons that the skyfire devs didn't port it straight over. Possibly memory or compatibility or maybe sdk restrictions.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

but dont u think it would be a good idea tho?

Hulu player for PPC?

First, I'd like the thank all the developers on this site for the great work they have done. My HTC devices have greatly enjoyed all the upgrades and hacking over the year with all of your help. That said, I'm not a developer, but I am wondering if anyone has had this idea yet.
For those of you who are not familiar with hulu.com, I'd suggest checking it out. hulu is a partnership between NBC and Fox to bring streaming video of their most recent shows to the net. Along with TV shows, they also feature a growing selection of full length movies.
Since there are a handful of ways in which we have been able to get youtube videos to play on our devices, I was wondering if it would be possible to do the same thing with hulu. I'm not sure how anyone would go about this, but thought this could be a starting point for a good discussion on if it is even possible to do.
Any thoughts?
I'd actually be very interested in this as well. Thanks in advance.
Wow! I just signed up for Hulu, and I've been hearing about it from friends and now here, lol! Yeah, it would be awesome to stream this on my Titan.
You can watch Hulu with the Skyfire beta but its a little choppy on 3G
Yeah, I was thinking that myself but you probably can't go fullscreen.
I know you can't on Youtube, anyways.
Hulu DOES work on the newest skyfire beta. But it is rather choppy (youtube works almost 100% now on there.)
But that is only running on a WIFI connection. As I can't seem to get skyfire to connect over 3g or gprs with my rom.
I've been able to use Hulu with Skyfire as well, but it's not easy at all to get to the shows you want and then you have to zoom in just right even to see the video clearly. Oh and it's choppy as hell. A dedicated player may be able to fix all these problems and make the service a deffinite must on your ppc
I watch Hulu videos all the time with skyfire, and they play flawlessly over 3G, and I can navigate the site easily.
Ok, so the people who have access to the Skyfire beta testing can play it on their device (Touch users have to overclock their devices to get smooth video). If we leave it at that, there's no reason for anyone to develop a standalone Youtube Player. But we do have one and I'm sure a lot more people like using that over Skyfire since the interface in much quicker and easier to use.
so... back to the question at hand. Is it possible to make a standalone player?
bump - id also be interested in such a player
Im not sure but, wouldn't you need to get a hold of Flashlite 3 for Windows Mobile before this would be possible since Hulu uses flash 8 or 9?
bump me 2 ***
would b amazing
can't beleive...
...that's been over a year and no atemps where made for a stand alone version of Hulu. that's sad, as I'm no longer able to play Hulu on skyfire any more
My problem is not being able to access it without getting the proxy error. No matter how I connect, Hulu still thinks I'm using a proxy server and won't allow connection because that's how they stop users outside the US from using the service (copyright issues with content providers).

Archos 5 Internet Tablet Apps & Media

I'm currently uploading the app and the media folder of the Archos Android firmware.
I have the full dump, but it is really really not interesting.
The music player of the Archos runs on Archos OS side by side with Android, so no way to port.
I think the only interesting things are the skin of the Launcher and the sounds.
I uploaded the app and the media folder.
In case any DEV wants the full dump, I'll upload it.
Here's the download:

Please upload somewhere other than rapidshare (their service sucks)...I'm getting errors trying to download this. Can you try zshare.net please? Thanks
Yeah RapidShare is awful.. if you're after a temporary home for it I'll put it on my webspace. I doubt (hope) it'd go past my bandwidth cap.

Damn, Android has lacked a good looking, responsive and clean media player for a long time. In fact, I'd say that multimedia is the single biggest detractor from android. I was hoping that we'd get it here.
This actually looks pretty cool if this is what it looks like http://www.archos.com/
why dont you like it max?
I could not get these to work?
i got global time up n running but no option to set time any other file i need to push? thanks
never mind i got it
Global Time is not something new to the Archos. It's been around a while.
ThinkFree is awesome, I really like how it can use google docs.
Maxisma, is there any chance you can post the framework-res here? I know you said you would post the whole dump but I can't see it - 3 download links and they all go to the app_media.zip

Wow yeah ThinkFree Mobile really is a great app - I couldn't get anything else to work though, could anyone else?
Maxisma, what about the DVR Recording? That was the thing that stood out to me on it, any idea on how it works or what format it records to for playback? Any codec that isn't currently supported?
Screw Hero i want this on my Dream.
will this work on archos 5 6500 ?
I'm buying a used arches 5 6500
Before Android .will this work for me.?

Cubed (superscript 3) is a great media player.
And bTunes would be an awesome media player if it could fit onscreen and was available to 1.6 users.

Is Skyfire the only way to watch SouthPark episodes and Veoh on my Tilt 2?

Just wondering if Skyfire is the only way that I can watch SouthPark episodes from their website and videos from Veoh.com
Thanks

Well, Skyfire seems to be the only Browser supporting FlashVideo. I had to make the same experience. But i gotta say Skyfire runs smoother and faster on my XDA Diamond than Opera does, so i never searched for an alternative browser.
I hope my answer helped you out a bit
i would say Skyfire would be the only way as of now..
opera is good but doesnt have full flash support
and ie only has flash lite..
the thing i dont like about skyfire is, the text isnt as sharp and smooth looking like on opera and ie also that durn checker board comes up! but the skyfire has come a long way since the very 1st time i used it
try netaccel mach5, has some nice flash video features with smooth playing compare to skyfire, its not free but has 15 day trial with full features.
Isn't Mach 5 the same thing as Skyfire?
I tried Mach5 and it works VERY nicely indeed.
It works different to Skyfire though.
For example, when I go to VEOH.com and play a video, I see the video starting to show on the browser then a pop up says that a video wants to play and asks me if I want to play it.
I say yes and it plays it from a separate applications and is a LOT smoother than on Skyfire.
Does the same with ABC
South Park is a different story though...it loads it on the browser instead of trying to open a separate app to run it but I get no audio and it looks slow although still faster than Skyfire....I contacted them about this. If they can fix this then it is worth buying for me.
Moved as not software release.
Not software related? Isn't Skyfire a piece of software?

sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, so i wont reply to this!
That wasn't sarcasm, it is actually true. I started doing basic programming on my COCO but dropped it fast and never tried it again except my brief attempts at learning C which always stop in about a month.

[APPS] [REQUEST] Video editing?

i have searched and searched but i have turned up nothing. i know there is no video editing app for android. Is there anyone out there working on one. im sorry but i love my nexus very much. the one thing i wish i could do is record a 720p video add my youtube intro to it and then upload it to youtube. without having to connect to my mac convert video to mp4 then edit it in imovie then export it the upload it to youtube. i have thought about buying an itouch just so i could use it as a camcorder that have video editing. as you can see im not asking for much. im sure there is plenty of people that wish androids could do this.
Main things i would love to see
video splicing
transitions
thats all. i wish i knew how to program for android because i think this would be an amazing thing to bring to android.
I would like to know as well.
I'd also like to have this.
I already post this question but it is still unanswered :'(
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=671881
I was interested in this too... even if I could just rotate the videos I rrecord by 90 degrees, that would be a huge help!
Billy
Also interested in this.
I'm curious to know if something like ffmpeg could be used? And then add a GUI afterwards?
Is there any cloud based application that can be used since we have flash and maybe let us upload your data and edit it there and redownload?
Sense as if that might be the least intensive work-wose unless someone has a native app everyone seems to have missed.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Hey all, there's a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830781 to port the LG Optimus' video editing app over to the Nexus One - apparently it's mostly working on the Vibrant already.

Apps that are a delight on the Tab

Thought I'd start a thread, similar to the games one, to allow for recommendations for apps that are found to runs particularly well on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
I'll start this off with:
Google Earth - Obviously the big screen makes it nice, but the fast GPU and super smooth touchscreen controls also help. tilting and twisting with two-fingers, panning and flying over the high resolution terrain of the Alps is simply amazing. I'd almost say, due to the intuitive touchscreen controls, it's as good or even better than the desktop version (not as many options yet though).
AndroidVNC - This works just like I almost imagined. Sitting on the balcony, then 'tap...tap' my Kubuntu desktop is displayed nicely and can be used on my tab. Awesome for checking up on progress bars of running stuff.
WinAmp is cool on the Tab. Gives You big enough room to select and scroll through directories (compared the N1)
Speed Hud uses the FULL SCREEN, can't wait to try it in my car at night !
EStrong File explorer also uses full screen and is excellent to use on this device.
Wifi Analyzer on the Tab lookes like a professianl Wifi tool !
XBMC remote is alos great on this device. Only problem I have is when Yo rotate it during browsing folders it looses info and You have to go backwards one step to see anything again.
TuneIN radio also works great. I have it running in the background most of the time
Skype is also a dream on the Tab. Gives good room for the big communications...
Photoshop express on a screen like this rocks !
MSN DroidX also works really good
IM+ does not work well. It does 2/3 size in the center
Meridian player works really well too.(pro edition) Plays MKVfiles and everything I have tried smooth. Flac and mp3's are no problems at all.
I just discovered TV Flash. Works really well on Tab, good quality and nice selection of news channels. Some entertainment tv as well! Get it while its in beta!
I'll add another one:
GMote is awesome. Using the entire screen as a touchpad to control the mouse on my XBMC box. You can also switch to remote or keyboard mode, and even stream files from the computer to the Tab. Very nice.
Fennec official beta works a treat. Finally we have firefox!

Where did you get the apk???
Can you share please? The ones I am downloading from the mozilla ftp aren't working
They just force close...
EDIT: Nevermind I found it... It's not one of the nightly builds but the publicly released beta.
Indeed. By the way, gmote doesn't work in fullscreen. Only the pad works, and not too well at that...

What exactly are you having trouble with? It automatically goes fullscreen for me (cover art of streaming music, the remote buttons and the file browser).
As for the touchpad, I did increase the mouse acceleration a bit beforehand, because I was using the touchpad from the Logitech DiNovo Mini before. Maybe that makes the difference.
The browser isn fullscreen for me. Cant remember now as ive uninstalled it. Ive got PocketCloud so its not really an issue.
Anyone tried GRemote? It's a prettier version of GMote, albeit commercial. http://gbmsoftware.com/
Will need to try Fennec, a link to a recent working .apk would be useful.

The server is, yes, but the client isn't.
They did say several months ago that they were working on a OS X server, but no further word of it, my guess is that it's not going to happen.
I'm searching for a good Newsreader App, where i have my Feed Abonnements on the left and the articles an the right, like you get it on your desktop browser when visiting google reader website.
Just search for fennec for android... can't be easier than that.
Really Skype... are there video calls? If not then where do I get video to pccalls from?
I got to say that one of my most essential needs on a device like this is comic book reading.
So I got to say I was quite pleased with the app Comic Reader Mobi.
The reader takes advantage of the full screen.

That's strange. In my case I just chose a root folder source for my comic collection that is located on my external sd card and away it went.
Perhaps you should get in touch with the developer through the comic reader mobi forum. The person seems to be quite hands on when it comes to helping users.
Could someone try and see if this app works on their Tab, I downloaded it and used it on my HTC Desire last night and it is so damn amazing!! Live streaming of games in pretty high quality straight to my phone
Would be awesome if it scaled and worked on the Tab too.
