I saw stuff about Acer's new "ace", lol. I think it looks surprisingly good. I can remember reading stuff about it months ago and quickly disregarding it, but now I'm impressed.

It's an Android on roids

We started with phones in bags that were huge.... then phones went small... then smaller.... until we finally had to make fun of ourselves......

Now they're getting bigger... and bigger....and bigger.... pretty soon they're gonna start putting strap loops on the damn things...

Why so heavy

I have been counting the days for the FUZE to be released in the states. But, to my surprise, the FUZE is so bloody heavy that it feels like a brick in my pocket!
I have an HTC S710 (which is great), but it's too slow, and doesn't have enough RAM. So, the FUZE is a fantastic upgrade, but it feels substantially heavier...to the point of it being a hindrance.
Then I stopped by a Sprint store and checkout out their Touch Pro. Call me nuts, but it felt significantly lighter. I know it's supposed to be a 1/2 oz lighter, but it felt even lighter than that.
Anyone know why the FUZE is heavier than the Touch Pro?

heh. funny. Seriously, though. I'm surprised more people haven't complained about the heft. It felt like a brick in my pocket! It's making me second-guess this phone as my choice (to my dismay).

Just give it a couple of days. You'll get used to it. Don't give up on the Fuze so soon just because it's heavy.

You can buy a spray can of vinyl dye for like $4. Any color you can pretty much think of.
mad!! wish i got some!
The glow in the dark one ftw.
I got one at MWC and now I'm eager to get some more of the collection, they're great
$7.25 each just feels like such a waste of money.
I was all psyched about them myself, but there's better things to spend that kind of money on. $50ish for the entire set would have been reasonable in MY opinion. $100+ (With only a chance to get the whole set)... No thanks...

What's worse is that when you order a case, you're not even guaranteed to get an entire set. You're sent 16 figures in random, blind boxes which doesn't guarantee you get one of each.
Still, I'll probably be ordering a case when they become available again.

Exactly! That's why I said over $100 with a chance to have the whole set.
Even on the blog site before they released, they were stating you should get 10 or 11 of the 12. WTF is that all about?!!?. I'm not going to say it's a horrible thing and that people are wasting THEIR money. But I do feel like I would be wasting MY money in the same situation. To each their own, ya know?
Either way... Give me an entire damn set for $50, and you'll be $50 richer. But I ain't putting down $100+ for some plastic and a chance at an entire set. With 4-5 duplicates in addition to that. It's quite depressing if I can be completely honest.
(My $100+ will become Final Fantasy XIII and Starcraft II, LOL... Hopefully I'll get a little use out of the two )

Me too. The little the worker guy would be nice on my desk. It would be the FIRST piece of "decoration" I have. I'm sure my wife would be pleased to know I have a little android doll, but not a single picture of her! She already complains I play with the phone too much already.

G2X well built

Saturday I took a chance and called local TMO store and asked if they had a g2x and the guy said yes but I have to come in and specifically ask to see it. So I did and I don't know what I was expecting but g2x is a solid phone.
I'm currently rolling w/ a Nexus One so I'm used to a phone feeling like a phone. When I held the G2x I was sold right then and there.I've played with my Wife's Galay S 4g, vibrant, captivate, and Epic; reason why I bring that up is because I was trying to decide whether to get g2x or GalaxyS2. If you ever held a motorola droid 1or2 or X the G2x feels like that. I wanted to throw that out there for ppl that were wondering. I'm gonna throw an otter box on that g2x and its gonna be a beast.
agreed!
the phone has a bulky(GOOD) feeling too it... i have owned mostly Samsung phone's and they all feel delicate/plastic like..... almost like if it drops its done for... this phone is almost like a solid piece of metal!

I agree with you. I went into I T-mobile last Friday and played with their G2x, and was impressed with it's feel. I can't stand any of the Galaxy series phones because of their plasticy feel. One of the reasons I prefer HTC over the majority of brands is because their phones are built tough. I prefer a phone with some weight.

Dang you I'm playing Mr. Patient because I know amazon, wirefly, or radio shack will throw the phone on sale for 199 or 149 with NO mail in rebates. I've been waiting since Oct for a phone to replace my beloved Nexus one whats a few more days AHHHHHH!
Just came back from a T-Mobile store. I have to say, this phone is VERY well built and VERY light.
Just got back from T Mobile store and after having played with a G2X for about a half an hour I am IMPRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Very solid built(felt as good or better than my Nexus One) This phone flies out of the box. I have a Vibrant which is rooted and has a custom rom and is running an OC 1.4ghz kernel and I thought it was fast but the G2X is just so smooth and fast!! Actually faster than my Oc Vibrant with no tweaking. It just feels so good in the hand and the weight to me is just perfet. I am to receive mine tomorrow and I am anxiously awaiting.

actually i had the vibrant for a month and dropped it 3-4 times. not scratches or anything. had the g2 for a month after that and the g2 felt sooo heavy compaired to the vibrant i was worried about it hitting the ground harder because it was heavy, with every drop i cringed. with the vibrant i just wasnt worried about it. I played soccer (football) for 8 years so whenever i accidentally drop something i end up catching it with my foot haha, its instinct now

thats the thing. People think the vibrant feels cheap because the plastic back and its light. I actually wasnt too worried about mine falling either as its so light it was like it didnt fall hard. My other phones would bounce and just sound awful when they hit and had a big dent always... Vibrant is good build quaility imo. But the G2x just looks perfect build quality.
Very solid phone indeed. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was no LED notification
Radio shack will be selling it for $199 for new activations and $249 for upgrades.

I've kind of got used to no LED after having the vibrant for a year. Hadn't even thought to check if the G2X had one.
This phone is going to be like having my G1 again. Can't believe I'm actually this excited for a phone. I can't wait to get it.
XDA Mobile
I have gone down to the nearest tmobile store twice today just to play with the G2X. I am just amazed at how smooth and fast it is right out of the box. I tried the call quality and it was nice and loud and clear and the speakerphone was loud enough and clear enough. The build quality to me is just super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They let me take it outside and I downloaded GPS test from the market to test the GPS and it took about a minute and a half the first time but it locked on 9 out of 9 to 9 ft accuracy. The bars on GPS test were all solid green and were the strongest I have ever seen on any phone I have handled. Looks like the GPS should be a real winner which is good news coming from my Vibrant. I am awaiting tomorrow like a child at Xmas. lol That is when my G2X will arrive(hopefully) Sold my Nexus One today and was a little uncertain until I went in and played with the G2X now I am glad I did it.

I am patient and I know I'm gonna see all these posts showing love to the G2X but I'll hold strong to nerves. I saw that Wirefly lets you use upgrade for g2x for 149.99 no rebates so I'm leaning that direction. I can't wait to put CM7 on this phone and love it as the day is long.

Upgrade to Sensation or stick with HD2?

I currently have an HD2 running an Android 2.2.1 nand. I have tried the newer 2.3 Nands but the phone seems slow with them.
Is it worth upgrading to the Sensation?
Where is the best deal to be had? I'm probably 1.5 years into my 2 year contract. The price for the upgrade with 2 year extension on the Tmobile website is $384 per phone. I'd almost rather pay them the $550 with no contract.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Aaron
Try hyperdroid on your hd2.
Keep the hd2 until the bootloader is unlocked and the problems (dust, screen wash out) are fixed. That's what I'm doing. If the above isn't done before a better phone is announced or released, I'll buy the sensation and probably at a cheaper price.
EDIT: ----> HyperDroid Link <----
Never mind. I wrangled a good deal on the phone with Tmobile and got two of them for $200 each with my grandfathered data rate.

Yea? I already was promised the $200 a month ago when I changed my rate plan. I can't bring myself to buy one with its problems though. And unlike others who said "I'll wait for it to be unlocked", I actually stand by that. Others went right out and bought one.

It has to be better than my HD2. The phone speaker sucks for me since I am slightly deaf. I had to try many different roms or fixes to get the volume to be negligible. That or run Widows 6.5 which was NOT an option after first trying Android.
I even replaced the speaker with a kit from Ebay which helped a lot but I really want an Android based phone. I'm not a chef or anything and really keep it quite basic after I get my apps installed.
Also, my HD2 does get 4g but I want to see what the real 4g is like. Tethered with the HD2 I can get 4mb up and 156 down. I'm interested to see what the Sensation does.

I don't care if it unlocked at the moment. If it works and keeps working I'll be happy. I'm sick of loading roms on my phone and having issues with this or that. GPS doesn't work, intermittent gargle on calls, low volume sometimes, random reboots, etc. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I end up back in windows until I have time the next day to try a new rom.
I'm currently running CMYLXGO Blue Topia 1.1.17. It's nice but still has it's glitches. Battery life on this ROM is absolutely incredible though! 20 hours uptime and only down to 66%. It's a Sense rom with quite a few bloaty apps but so far I love it. I was a Coredroid fan before but this rom is better imho.
I hear ya. I used that rom too. I get sick of swapping roms and would love to have the sensation. The dust and screen washing though, I can't handle that and I really want the root option, just in case. That way I don't have to wait for updates.
my wife and I have been rocking two HD2s running CoreDroid for over a year. I loved my HD2s but the only time they will get used again is by the grandkids playing Angry Birds. The Sensation is great and the battery life is unreal.

I love my HD2 but it's getting slow and old. The battery cover looks like crap too. Over a year in my pocket with keys has left it's toll but no screen scratches! I thought about polishing the battery cover or replacing it but the sensation is too sexy. I hope the glass on the Sensation is as durable as the HD2.
OH and heard somewhere a year or so ago that the reason the HD2 is so scratch resistant is that the glass was sapphire coated. Is this true?
I tired Android on the HD2 as soon as it was possible but it had too many quirks and I needed the phone to work.
I upgraded to the Sensation and am not sorry one bit. Granted WM6.1 vs Android 2.3 but the internals and hardware are really nice, the touch screen is really responsive and the phone feels much smaller to hold. Not that the HD2 was large but its more comfortable.
If its what you want and your ready to upgrade go for it, I'm glad I did. Mine has no problems that I know of yet. granted this is my first real Android experience...

The hd2 screen will scratch. I have a few friends who's scratched. But the sensation seems to have a strong screen. My friend had one about a week ago and one of the first things I did was try using my sharp keys on it. I also sat it face down and slid it across the table. It didn't scratch one bit.

This is because the Sensation uses Gorilla Glass...amazing stuff. Came in my old Vibrant, not a single scratch in over a year...The Sensation rocks, even without root! It can only get better!

I have read it has the Gorilla Glass. Not sure if that is true or not but I will find out. I don't like cases or screen protectors and just dump my phone in my pocket or toss it on the passenger car seat. I am not gentle with phones and the HD2 was a brute.
Cases, like the Otterbox, totally ruin the form of the phone and screen protectors never look right and they reduce response IMHO. I tried a rubberized case and a screen protector on my HD2 when I first bought it and hate them both.
The case was bulky and fumbly. Is that a word? I dropped it a lot with that case because it was too fumbly. It didn't slide into my pocket well and was just fat and clunky like a mid 70s American sedan.
The screen protector was a Zagg. It was horrible. It was like a phone condom without the lube. Pain in the ass to install in the moment and then you had to deal with lack of sensitivity. When it got warm in the car or in your pocket it shrunk and then when it got cool it expanded and left the edges to lift up. POS imho.
That is when I decided to go naked with the HD2. I went a year with no covers or screen protectors and I dropped it a few times. I dented the plastic trim a few times but no scratches on the screen. The metal battery cover's paint has been scratched a lot though.
The HD2 is one tough mofo of a phone! I hope the Sensation is the same. I am concerned that the back of the phone is too plastic like. I haven't held one yet so I'm not sure. If there is plastic on the back then I hope it is durable. It would be nice if HTC would make a phone that is entirely metal except for the screen. Make it powder coated aluminum all around and call it a day.
EDIT - Any suggestions on what to with my two HD2 phones now?
The sensation feels great and the back feels better than I thought it would. I also like the fact that the battery cover is its housing. If it's dropped and dented, replacing just the cover would be pretty easy and make it look unharmed I think.
EDIT: Keep one for a backup and sell the other on craigslist. I had 2 and sold one already.

It's also extremely funny the amount of people comparing the HD2 to the Sensation? Really? I have an HD2 running android and other than the sceen size there is no comparison!!! The HD2 isn't even better than my MT4G running CM7!!! seriously if you still use the HD2 as a daily driver you should probably jump off a bridge because you are using a dinosaur....

I've used my HD2 running WM6.5 up until the day I got the Sensation & I am definitely not a dinosaur. Stop being an asshole. The HD2 is a solid phone & if it works & does what someone wants it to, then it rocks.
Used NAND builds on my HD2 forever, and the entire time all I wanted my HD2 to grow up to be like is the Sensation. Like I've said before, the Sensation is what HTC should have made the HD2 like all along. The Sensation is the phone of phones right now. You will be 110% happy with it.

My point is you are less likely to have a Sensation with issues. It is not as wide spread as these threads lead you to believe. People who don't own the device read these threads and become afraid to purchase the phone because of the fear of ended up with a dud of a device when that is not the case. As for the comparison to the HD2 its in the title "Upgrade to Sensation or stick with HD2?" any high end htc android device produced after March 2010 is better than the HD2 period. As I said before I have an HD2 as well as 5 other android devices and the HD2 finishes last in whatever comparision you attempt to make other than screen size...I wasn't attempting to FLAME anyone just venting. sick of all the people bashing the Sensation with silly comparisons to other devices and complaints about issues that affect a minority of the the Sensation owners... and the "people like me" comment is hilarious xda is beginning to suck because more and more noobs are joining the site and creating pointless threads asking questions that a little common sense would cure anyway, enjoy your HD2 or whatever device you choose to purchase HAVE AN AWESOME TUESDAY

Galaxy Nexus Vs. Sensation

Hey guys I Just got the galaxy nexus, and I just wanted you guys to know that you have an amazing phone. I'm sure most of you guys already know this but its true. I'm very happy with the nexus, but hindsight, it was not worth the money spent on to upgrade. Since I had to buy it straight out, sold my phone for 300 so it really cost me 300$ but still, it hurt a little.
Anyway, most people know already the screen is amazing on the nexus etc... It's true. But the sensation has a good screen too! This isn't really a ccomparison as much as a... realize how good the sensation is phone. When I went from the G2 to sensation i was like holy **** I can never go back to my G2 and how slow it is, when I went from my sensation to my Nexus I was like cool... i miss my capacitive buttons Getting used to it though.
Anyway, Have a good holidays and thanks to all the devs.
hey, enjoy your GN. It's an awesome phone.
you are running ICS! I'm jealous!
once we get the ICS update I'll be golden for awhile... until Tegra 3 phones start to roll out.
all said and done though, you'll get updates first since you are on a Nexus phone.
sure, bit costly, but I'm sure it will serve you well.
enjoy it my friend.
Okay this thread made me wait a while. Thanks a lot! I was willing to exchange my Sensation for the nexus, didn't care much about the money.
I'm already on ICS, pure AOSP but I really love the GN's screen! And it's front look. Anyway, im in the worst mood today, my phone fell hard on the ground and got a tiny cut on the left side where the charger input is located. Really bugging me.
To be honest had an n1 and passed on the ns and gn because I don't like Samsung phones.
I like the sensation because the form factor is similar to the n1. I love the screen and the back cover which will make replacing scratched or damaged"cases" ready to fix.
