Moving On

All, I do need to say that this skyrocket community ROCKS. I have upgraded to the HTC one M7 32gb. I will still keep my skyrocket as a backup. My main reason for upgrading is I just got some new devices that REQUIRE Bluetooth 4.0 and only work on ios or android (and I would rather use a motorola dynatac 8000x than anything from Crapple).

Really the dev community is bigger than the s4 and the is already a mostly working cm10.1 for it and all gsm one phones are exactly the same. You can unlock the boot loader and just flash the international rru and everything will work 100%. I spent the better part of 2 days on my choice. Anyway I do have 14 days from yesterday

I saw the developer edition ruu is available for the one. Can that be flashed to the normal one? Making it a dev edition?

You need 2 things to flash a different ruu
1) bootloader unlocked. We have that
2) S=OFF. We do not have S=OFF on any htc one even the developer edition has S=ON.\
When we get a S=OFF mod yes.

Lmao. I have a kindle fire 2 with an unlockable boot loader.
Boot loader still locked. So.... You just load a SECOND bootloader.
My kf2 is running cm10.1 on an unlockable boot loader.

Yes I know. but not getting a s4 from att because att locked the bootloader is more of a principle than a feer of not getting aosp

Getting around a locked boot.. Falls right in line with my principles.

Question About Rooting 4.3 w/ NC1 Baseband

I have a friend that I've finally convinced to root his S3 that is on 4.3 with the NC1 baseband. What process do I need to follow to be able to do this for him? I won't have any problems with the steps, I'm just not sure where/how to proceed.

Will flahsing the ML1.tar also change the baseband or do I need a separate .tar for that as well? Also, am I correct in saying that the ML1 (4.3) bootloader can not be unlocked?

That is mostly correct. You can downgrade back to ML1 so you can root and run safestrap, but that's it. Trying to downgrade to anything before ML1 will brick your device.

I just suggested the same thing you mentioned her to another member. At least root is available. I'm trying to convince my gf who is getting a new S3 later today because of charging issues to root hers if its on 4.1.2. She's getting a new phone in just about 4 months anyways

My wife wouldn't let me root her S3, so she's locked up on the NC1 update. She loves the display on the Samsung, but she says Android is too complicated for her and she is always complaining she doesn't know how to use the phone. We are both eligible for upgrade so I'm considering trying to convince her we should upgrade - her to the iPhone5s and me to the S5. Just not sure I want the locked down bootloader. Need to get into a store to play with one.

Check out the new M8 man. I wasn't a huge fan of HTC when I had my thunderbolt but HTC has done a lot to change sense.

Well, with the way phones are getting locked down especially on Verizon, it seems the whole rooting and romming scene is kind of shrinking. It's getting to the point if you don't buy a Nexus or developer edition phone, you're going to be stuck with stock.

Yea for the most part that is true. HTC seems to be one of the few who supports rooting somewhat

Yup, the S5 doesn't even have root yet. Very discouraging, but the m8 has good development, and stock on the m8 is very good.

4.4.2 downgrade to 4.1.2 - Possible?

Hello everyone,
I have a SCH-I535 running 4.4.2 that I bricked last night after running ez-unlocker (attempting to modify the bootload) and just got it back to work after using a debrick image... I would like to know if it is possible to downgrade back to JB 4.1.2? and if so how will accomplish this since it is not letting me bypass the odin process due to a recovery failed error...

Wait a week or so. I had an idea the other day and we are just now trying to put it to the test. It may unlock the bootloader, who knows! The method works on Motorola phones with the Qualcomm msm8960 chips. And guess what. The s3 has the same chip. And the exploit was directed towards that chip.

That link has been posted in these forums before. That downgrade only works on the i9300 international version, not the i535 Verizon version. The screenshot in the article you linked even shows the about phone as the i9300. This article you linked is from 8 months ago. If this worked on the Verizon version it would have been all over these forums. The article you linked even mentions how trying this process resulted in hard bricks on the AT&T version. Anyone trying this on the Verizon version will suffer the same fate.

hope it works as well going through 2 other insurance phones miss my unlocked boot loader on my old s3 could fix some issues of 4.3.1

I miss my ose rom I was running KitKat 4.4.3 before it died I was pulling atlest over a day with 4 or so hours of screen time with my 2300mah zero lemon battery's only way I know of downgrading is to swap the board or j tag it or get one with the older boot loader glad atlest to have root, hope this exploit will work

Capacitive button remapping.

Hi all,
I'm new the the OPO having just left the Nexus line after a long time.
I'd love to use the capacitive buttons but really hate how they're opposite to the Android guidelines. Is it possible to remap them so they're the same as the Android on screen ones?

Root, and unlock bootloader and Install the latest Oct. 21st verion of SLIMKat and be over it.
You have so much customizations under a super clean and LIGHT ROM. In fact, most of what Android Lolipop is coming out with has ALREADY been out on custom roms ages ago.
Think of it as Google finally taking ideas from the development community.

I started working on the LG G5 a way back .. and now that we've got the device in stores I guess it's time to work all together to bring it up !
STATUS
- [02/04/2016] All the US Carriers/Sellers locked the bootloaders so NO TWRP possible and consequently NO CM possible
CURRENT GOALS
- Thought, all the Europe variants will be for sure unlocked so we need to prepare the sources for it

- The tree is made
- The vendor is made
- The kernel is made
TODO :
- Clarifying kernel sources
- Add the ramdisk to the device
- Split the g5 to g5-common and all the under variants
This thread is not a thread to release builds, it's about contributing all together into this bringup in order to get the nicest thing out of it when the bootloaders will become unlockable.

only for that specific device(s) on HTC
HTC has a portal that allows you to unlock bootloader for that specific device (hence the need to copy+paste token to HTC's portal and get the unlock key)
no doubt HTC will void warranty immediately in their system when you input token
LG doesn't have this (yet? i hope)

Yeah, was just a thought. Haven't owned a LG in some time, been on the Samsung wagon. The G5 is on my watch list of devices I might get, I like the design. I'll try to see if I can find something that might be more constructive to the cause. The HTC link was the first thing I could think of that I've dealt with.
I see that LG has release a tool for the G4 and that's device specific and seems to work on the European devices.

Totally willing to contribute monetarily if this will help any developers out. I don't have much else but really want to help get this phone broken open and fixed up good!

PS : NEWS : I'm mostly done making the variant specific trees and kernel. But I want the kernel to be clean.. So it's slow..

How do you test to see if your handset has the DM verify second bootloader lock?
I am hoping to get my UK unbranded unlocked retail H850 unit on Friday, so am happy to test any restrictons, but don't know how to check for this?

If I buy a g5 from best buy would it still have the locked bootloader?

I'm working hard on the kernel. I downloaded all the resources for all the devices.

Everything in the US will be locked.

We'll see when time will come I guess
