Couldn't quite figure out which version of TNT lite would serve my purpose or what exactly they included. Watched tons of Youtube videos on the various ROM flashings, and, the after results in action. This site has a wealth of information and I sincerely thank the developers. Someone should do a thorough comparison of what you get in each ROM. Some have details and others don't, just a summary.
Started with TNT 2.2 as recommended. Followed the instructions verbatim. Took sometime and had to search around for the various pieces of much needed software.
Z4Root
ClockworkMod
ROM Manager
Titannium Backup
I rooted the device with Z4Root then installed ClockworkMod, Titanium Backup and ROM Manager. Did my backup in Titanium Backup, turned off my system and booted to ClockworkMod, but not before checking first, it installed correctly. Performed a backup, unmounted the system and data, moved on to installing from the SD zip. TNT 2.2 worked fine. The browser was stripped down in both the 2.2 and 2.4 versions and the calendar was awful. On the upside Youtube worked much better and it was zippy. I could also get streaming radio in from Winamp. Shoutcast worked flawlessly.
Because of the crappy stripped down browser which no longer let me save bookmarks to my desktop I moved on to TNT 4.1.
What worked in 2.2 & 2.4 without issue:
Android Market (scaled down version)
Adobe Flash 10.1
Adobe Reader
Android System Info
Andromax
Antivirus
Auto Killer
Bluetooth File Transfer
Camera
Cleanoid
Contacts
Desktop Labels
Dictionary
Documents to Go
EasyShare
Facebook
Gallery (a much crappier version of the original)
Gmail
Google Maps
Launchpro (with 7 homescreens running in a rotating cube, flawlessly with labels)
Navigation
Photoshop Mobile
ROM Manager
Task List
The Weather Channel (the weather feature was removed from the ROM)
Titanium Backup
TouchRecalibration (the browser was slower and the scrolling was laborious)
tv.com (worked extremely well)
Twitter
Wikidroid
Winamp
Yellowbook (not yellow pages but both work, but yellowbook is awesome giving you a street view of what you are searching for).
The browser and scrolling lag is highly noticeable in both these versions making using the internet and awful experience. The crappy calendar, contact and gallery was a serious let down from the installed stockware. Next 4.1...
I dont understand why you wouldnt just get the latest one?
Was not prepared to deal with troubleshooting a possible endless dataloop and use at your own risk means just that. I watched tons off youtube video and one guy had tried quite a few. Just because it is most current doesn't necessarily means most stable. How is it running? And, are you experiencing any problems and if so what kind?
What's on there? Be specific. Help us out.
Ive had the latest version (whever it came out ) as my primary for about a month now.
No problems apart from the usual apps that dont work properly on tegra/tablets.
Im not on it currently, testing Adam rom...and not liking it as its very slow.
I noticed you mention Winamp and Shoutcast working flawlessly on the GTab. I've been having major issues with various streaming apps on my GTab.
Is this a common issue. I had shoutcast issues on every ROM I can recall trying.
Is there a fix for this, I searched around, but couldn't find anything except this thread, which barely mentions it.
Here are some that I am having issues with.
- Winamp (Shoutcast streaming only)
- Listen (Can't stream episodes, but can download them then listen)
- Tiny Cam Monitor (Can't view my network camera, which works perfectly on my wifi with my HTC Desire)
Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks.
i just flashed the latest TNT lite right onto my Gtablet with no problems.
My order went like this:
open box
charge gtablet
flash tnt lite 4.4
switch to CW recovery
install kernel
?????

Hmmm, So you are able to do the streams I mentioned?
I just checked the About Tablet in Settings and this is the kernel mine shows:
2.6.32.9-00001-g6e47897-dirty
[email protected] #221
When I did the install I didn't do anything special to install the kernel, I just went with whatever loading the Rom with ClockworkMod. I did do a lot of rom's though, basically loading on all the major .zips I could find on here. Do you have to do anything special to install the kernel?
I assume it wouldn't matter that I am in Canada.

i run pandora and youtube just fine and they stream media. Also hulu.com works
i started with clemsyn 9, but then switched to pershoots OC kernel, but it still needs some fine tuning imo so i've went back to clemsyn 9. I'm about to try his new 10 OC kernel

to install it just flash with clockwork mod and clear cache and dalvik cache.

That's the weird thing, I should have mentioned that I do have some apps that do work that stream.
These seem to work:
- Youtube (I noticed you mentioned it, and it works perfectly on mine also)
- Twit.tv by mediafly (This also works perfectly for streaming video)
- Revision3 (I haven't had any issues streaming video on this either)
Shoutcast and Tiny Cam Monitor are really frustrating, as I use them a lot, Listen is another one that I would get a lot of use out of if the streaming worked in it.
I can't test Pandora or Hulu as they are completely blocked up here in Canada.
I may have to try those kernels, I'm really trying to figure out if anybody else is having the same issues as me in with Shoutcast (in Winamp), Tiny Cam, and Listen.
I may give one of those kernels a try, I'll probably start with clemsyn 9 if I do any. I just want my tab to be as stable as possible, and still have hardware video decoding working (which sound like there are a lot of issues in Gingerbread still).
Thanks.
I'd stay away from gingerbread if video is important to you. Until Nvidia release official GB drivers video isn't gonna be perfect on GB roms.
I haven't tried winamp. But I really haven't had any issues with any apps not working. I'd suggest making the switch to TNT 4.4 and then installing that kernel.

I am having the same issue. I use winamp alot as well, but am experiencing problems with any streaming audio, except pandora and youtube. I installed TnTLite 4.4.0 directly without going thru CW mod as Roebeet stated that it was best not to do that. Rom loaded smoothly, and all works well, except for this issue with streaming audio.
switched to vegan-tab btw. A million times better than tnt-lite. Much faster and much more stable
A follow up to my post.... for those wanting to access shoutcast streams but couldn't, I just installed an app called "a online radio" from the market and thru it I am able to access the shoutcast streams. Yay!

Figured I'd start doing a brain dump of what I know, so far. Assume TnT Lite 4.x, as this is what I use. But stock / zPad / cm6.1 / all other 1.1-based ROMs might also work unless noted.
Please feel free to add to this FAQ with apps tested, general information etc.

General pre-sales / new user / "should I buy this?" information
Viewsonic support site: http://www.viewsonic.com/gtablet/support.htm. Their customer service is very good and I have used them many times. The only issue i have right now is a lack of information, but I don't fault CS for that.
Should you buy this?
It's up to you, but be aware of what you are getting into. Here's a quick breakdown of what you will / won't get:
- You are basically paying for hardware that is not optimized for Android. It's fast, but it could be a lot faster and we're hoping that future updates will take advantage of that. The hardware is bleeding edge, right now.
- The LCD screen is basically a netbook screen. With that in mind certain angles are really bad. It's looks pretty good spot-on, just like a netbook.
- HDMI works, but you need a dock which is not officially available yet (there is a zPAd dock that can be purchased, overseas).
- 720p/1080p might work, but needs to be encoded a certain way.
- Standard video seems fine, in particular Xvid AVI's.
- There are issues with games, right now. Some work, some don't. Simple as that. EDIT: There is a g-sensor fix that might correct this, in certain mods.
- There's an official app store, but it's not as extensive as the full Google Market.
- Angry Birds works.
- There's no official Flash support, yet (even as of 3/2011). That may change in the future and there are ways to get an unofficial patch (see below).
- To make the device really usable, you need to mod it and will need to be familiar on how to sideload apps. This is my opinion, of course.
The mods are not supported by Viewsonic, so keep that mind!
---------------------------------------------------------------
General information on the different unofficial ROMS available
- Vanilla restore image. This is an attempt by our community to have a restore image in case your device is having issues or you need to wipe any mods off before returning it. It will wipe the system data, but not the user data. For the latter, you'd want to do a factory reset under Settings -- Firmware. The link also has links to the actual firmware updates that TnT Inc. supports.
- zPad v3. This is a port of the zPad ROM to the GTab. Rothnic has spearheaded this effort.
- VEGAn-Tab. This is still a 1.00 beta firmware to port the Advent Vega firmware to the GTab. As of March 2011, it is fairly stable and very usable. The main dev (gojimi) is working on a Gingerbread port.
- TnT Lite v4. This is a streamlined version of the stock firmware. It leaves the status bar and settings area intact, for example - but removes the main TnT homescreen and replaces it with a stock launcher. It also has the same bugs as stock.
- CyanogenMod. This is an early beta so keep that in mind - I would recommend this only for technical users. It is an attempt to port cm to the GTab. Bekit has spearheaded this effort. There are a few recent efforts, mainly for Gingerbread.

Known issues
I used clockworkmod via ROM Manager and now I get a "Magic Value Mismatch" Error
AVOID ROM MANAGER, please. As of this writing, it installs a version of clockworkmod that does NOT play nice many of the ROMs we have, and might even have issues with stock ROMs. PLEASE AVOID!!
If you get that "Magic Value Mismatch", you have soft-bricked your device and will need to use the nvflash tool to correct that. See the development area for the nvflash sticky.
Date / Time reset to 1970 after powerdown / reboot
Update your ROM to correct this -- it's a fairly old issue.
GMT +0 after every reboot
This is a known bug with orignal TnT stock and TnT Lite 1.x, which some of us have already called VS about. It's probably somewhere in the TnT Framework. This was fixed with the 11/22 TnT firmware and the subsequent TnT Lite 2.00+. If you are on stock and see this, update your ROM.
Games cannot be played because they are titled by 90 degrees
This is a known bug with stock TnT / TnT Lite. No fix from the vendor, but certain ROMs (like VEGAn and TNT Lite) have a hack for this (care of dev gojimi!)
720p / 1080p h264 video problems
My understanding is that h264 HD playback works, but only to a certain point. Basically, videos encoded in "Main" Profile work, but those with "High" Profile do not. You can use a tool like mediainfo to see how your file in encoded.
I have used the excellent Handbrake application and an iPad profile, changing h.264 to MPEG-4 in the config, and that has worked for me on the device.
MicroSD is not being read by applications
This is a common issue with tablets, and I had seen this on my Pandigital Novel. Some applications are written to only read from /sdcard, which is the internal memory on our device. microSD is /sdcard2. So this is very hit and miss. On the zPAd, they actually map the microSD to /sdcard/sdcard1, which means that apps might be able to find that easier.
EDIT 1/2011: Some of the newer mods have an SDCARD2 fix, but it could cause media files to be deleted. A possible fix (to turn this feature off) is to create an empty file on the root of your microSD and call it ".nomedia". I have not heard of problems with the very latest mods or stock ROM.
There is no Market
Some of the mods do add the Google Android Market, but even so there are very few available apps visible. There is a fairly easy way to get around this, which is documented here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845175
My device went to sleep and now I can't bring it back to life
This is a known issue with stock / TnT Lite 1.x+ -- the only known "fix" I know, other than opening up the device, is to let the battery drain until the device shuts itself off - this should take about 24 hours. Once this happens, you should be able to power it up again and recharge it. Newer ROMs may not have this issue.
Does the device accept 32GB microSD cards?
Yes. I own a 32GB microSD so I can confirm that.
My touch screen is all wonky / I have dead zones
See this post for a possible fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9774374&postcount=27
Also, try this GUI version (thanks gojimi!) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934500
I have a zPad dock, but my Ethernet port is not working

Running a firmware update / restore
All the ROMS use a standard firmware updater that can be used by non-technical users. Here is an explanation on how it works:
There is an "update.zip" file and a recovery foder with a file called "command". To flash your firmware, you place those on the root of your device's /sdcard. So, if your device is your F: drive for example, you should see F:\update.zip and F:\recovery\command.
Then, shutdown the device and boot up by holding the power button and volume up keys simultaneously for a few seconds - once you see the recovery text pop up in the upper left side, you can let go. The update will begin and the device will reboot about a minute later. After the reboot, I would highly recommend doing a device restore as that fixes a lot of issues (Settings -- Security -- Factory Data Reset).
You can also do this on a microSD - you just need to edit the command file and change "SDCARD" to "SDCARD2". For Windows users, don't add a .txt extension on the file as that won't work. The file name needs to be called "command".
The only ROM exceptions are the fully stock ones form Viewsonic / TnT, as I haven't touched those. You can use them in clockworkmod, or get the /recovery/command file from another ROM and then rename the stock ZIP to "update.zip" and combine them.
How to wipe data with Clockworkmod recovery (thanks to short/y for writing this!)
Boot into recovery (i.e. power down the device then power it up again while holding the volume up key) until you get the message that it's booting the recovery image.
Once you see the CWM (i.e. Clockworkmod) text screen, use the volume buttons to scroll down to the entry that says "wipe data/factory reset" (on CWM 2.5.1.2 it's the 3rd entry).
Press the Home key and, on the screen that comes up, scroll down to the line that says "Yes" and hit Home.
Once it's been formatted, return to the previous screen with the Back arrow until you're on the main screen where you can continue the process (flashing or booting).
thanks for putting all this information in one spot! ill be checking this thread when mine comes in tomorrow (was supposed to be today... so much for paying a little extra for expedited shipping.... grrr)

I've tried several, with similar results. HD playback is very finicky with this device, at least as of this writing.
I have heard people state that h.264 720p works, but I have yet to see this in full 16:9 mode. 2:35 does seem to work. If someone has a file for me to test, I'll certainly download it. I hope that I can be proven wrong, here.

Downloaded AVI's and FLV's work just fine with Rockplayer. I play AVI's in Hardware encoding mode, and FLV's with Software encoding mode.
Have you tried Act1 video player? I have used it for over a year on my Adroid phone and it will play pretty much anything. I installed it on the gtab earlier and playback is just as smooth as my computer. Plus it has the option to change aspects to suite the screen. One of the options, Full(stretch to full screen) looks great while playing an avi or any other format on the Tab.

Use the GPS on your phone via Bluetooth, assuming you have a smart phone
Google voice
No voice but texting works.
Steps I took
on my evo fully installed voice (switched roms recently didn't have it installed)
used Titanium to back up the app
Copied the 3 files to my titanium folder on the g tab
Restored the app
Lauched google voice. Got to where it said configure inbox then went back back back back to exit
inbox popped right up.
YMMV
Quick newbie question.... how to I drag/drop from my computer to the microSD? I'm on TnT lite.

Hi,
We have been working on this app, is my fourth android app.
The aplication searchs over internet for tv-shows links capables to be played directly on your device, with full screen support using megavideo, frogmovz, karambavidz and other hosting services. The search resoult are shown in a intuitive and easy to use interface.
EDIT: This application is not available anymore.
Samsung galaxy vibrant user here:
Using Nerov3+voodoo
on wifi
While the interface of the app was very easy to navigate. Non of the the videos I tried to play from the few websites I selected would play. I picked monk and the x-files. I also tried multiples of the sources.
It basically opens a webpage and ask you to verify that you are human. Nothing happens for "me" beyond that.
Vibrant user..nerov3..no voodoo Dexter works fine !!
Will this ever support HDMI out for the EVO?
Try megavideo servers first
The best integration is when megavideo is used as stream server, it goes directly to full screen.
I have been watching X Files and Dexter without any problem on my HTC Desire.
Sounds Great I'm in
I purchased the full version. So far so good
I have not had any problems loading videos on the Droid Incredible. However, there seems to be a delay on the sound by about a second or two.
I downloaded the lite version and experienced it both on Prison Break and Lost.
Excellent so far when I use megavideo streams. Awesome that its got its always sunny - thats not even on netflix streaming!.
watching dexter on my nexus one running MircoMod777 Gingerbread V.19
havent tried any others yet but im sure most if not all work, theres alot of sources to choose from so dont start crying if the first one doesnt load up right away, its the lite version, deal with it
Can you add Fringe?
I m a fan.
Beauty! I bought the full version right away. Great app.
same here, great app but would like to suggest maybe an integration with tv show favs app, maybe. I see the bookmarks app which is good, also how often will these be update, are we looking at 30 mins after show aired?

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I'd like to ask if anyone has figured out how to run Adobe Flash properly on the ChaCha. I've checked Adobe's website, and no, the ChaCha/Status is not listed as a supported unit. Between Adobe killing off further support for Flash and what seems like so far non-existent updates from HTC (there was supposed to be some sort of secruity flaw on certain HTC Android phones, but I've got no firmware updates from HTC or AT &T on my phone from the Settings of the phone ... I've had the phone since almost the second week it came it in America, where I am) it looks like there will be no official release of Adobe Flash 10 or 11 showing up in the Android Market Place for us ChaCha users. I have tried out .apk files from various websites (probably XDA would have been one ... not sure) and got it to install, but wouldn't display flash like it should, just like the default flash support of the ChaCha, which is very limited. I have been able to play a flash game and some videos over the standard web browser with the default flash, but nothing extra with Adobe Flash. I've tried this with 10 and 11 versions, one for Droid, which is supported for Adobe Flash. The 10 did nothing but install without actually doing anything else, and the 11 took me to an Adobe settings page, but I couldn't navigate it fully as there were parts of the screen cut off and an icon I couldn't click no matter how hard I tried. I am guessing there must be some configuration issues in the internal memory files, or just isn't compatible. I can't root right now as I need to find a shop in Sacramento that can do S-off (can't afford XTC Clip now). As a related note, on standard Nokia and Samsung phones (that aren't smart phones) I have successfully run various J2ME programs that were not intended for the device. I was even able to run a game for the Nokia Series 60 phones on a Samsung BlackJack, which is of course Windows Mobile 6 based, but couldn't play due to the keyboard layout. I have had two Nokia Series 40 phones, one which still works, sort of, the Nokia 6030B. The point of this digression is that I figured there would likely be a way to run Android software not intended for the particular device I have, the ChaCha of course. Oh, and since I mentioned J2ME software, anyone been able to run it on the ChaCha, or any Android device? Just curious.
Ask and you shall recieve: http://www.androidcampus.in/2011/10/adobe-flash-player-102-for-armv6-and.html
Full adobe flash for armv6 devices like ours. Not flash lite but the real thing. It runs out of the box on the SuperOSR rom, but you'll probably need to remove flash lite from a Sense based rom in order for this to work, which ultimately means having to be S-OFF.
Sent from my A810e using XDA Premium App
Thanks!
Much as I suspected ... would need to root. After Christmas I will look around for a repair/mod shop that can S-off with the XTC Clip or reliable clone. There were several operating out of the Westfield Downtown Plaza (Sacramento) but I do not know if they are still there given how barren much of the mall is now. Also I had a Nokia or Samsung 'dumb phone' I wanted a cable for, and ended up getting one that didn't work, with the wrong drivers on a mini disc. Once I do get S-off by this or other means that may come up in the future I will look into the post you mentioned. According to Wikipedia, Arm 6 is supposed be similiar to Arm 7 but with less instruction sets available. I suppose this is why Adobe's official flash app would not be compatible, but there is no reason why some other flash app from homebrew or whatever might not do something better than the default Android flash (well, default if you didn't get a phone with Adobe Flash on there from the get go ... I think those are all higher spec phones, like some of the Motorola Droid phones). This may be for the best anyway, as Adobe has forsaken the mobile phone users of the world as far as flash goes. Hopefully they will keep Acrobat going. That is a good app to have, albeit not as good as on PC (and Mac?). Sorry if I sound newbish, because I am a newb as far as the technical details. Not since my Nokia 3030b have a had a phone with as much independent development as the ChaCha. I could have done more with that Nokia if it only had an SD card slot or a readily available cable for purchase. Oh well. No point in bothering with that now.
awesome...didn't know there are any flash versions out there for arm6...
so are there any news for version 11 of adobe flash player for arm6?
Tried out the download
After installing the modified Adobe Flash 10.1 APK I tried a some from the Marketplace that said Adobe Flash was needed and a couple worked. I also tried a number of Flash videos and Flash sites and got mixed results. Some wouldn't show up but most ran, but slowly (except for sound). Maybe one or two ran right but I think they may have been optimized for mobile devices. I ran some NicoVideo viewers on my phone and only one was actually able to display the video (complete with Nico's unique comments flashing by during the videos). However, it actually downloaded the videos to the SD card, and MoboPlayer already runs FLV files so it's a bit hard to gauge how effective the Adobe Flash would be, or even if it's running. I checked Adobe's Shockwave page and the little animation came up as well as 'you have version 10,1,1,102,54 installed'. The same would later prove true for the regular Adobe Flash page as well. I repeatedly installed and uninstalled the Flash from the list of installed programs on my phone, but am still able to get the same results regardless of whether it was installed or not. I have a feeling some files must have been stored permanently in Root, which I cannot access as I am S-On, but am not quite sure. As the ChaCha does have rudimentary flash support from the get go despite not being a phone officially supported for the Adobe Flash APK, I cannot be certain. Does anyone with an officially supported phone for Adobe Flash 10.1 get similiar results? How about a rooted phone? Also if anyone has successfully gotten Adobe Flash 11 to run on ChaCha let me know if your flash performance improved from 10.1. Of course even an Adobe Flash APK that is fully useful for our ChaChas would only be of limited use, given Java, Silverlight, and various other plugins, scripts, etc. that currently are in use for videos, video games, and online apps, so don't think that you will be able to run anything. Having Adobe Flash working, even on a so-so level, is a big help though. Please post any experiences you may have had with Adobe Flash or basic Android flash players on your phone and any monkeying around you may have done to make it work or work better.
Tried out some .SWF files off line successfully
With Smart SWF Player (would be good player for just watching Shockwave Flash videos, as opposed to .FLV, files, which run fine too but MoboPlayer already does that well, were it not for the ads. Did not see any ad free version for sale in Market) and SWF Player File Viewer (this has an ad free version, but couldn't press any of the keyboard buttons but space ... maybe I need to look more into it) I was able to successfully run flash files, other than FLV which several video players already do, such as MoboPlayer. SWF Player Filer Viewer said that I had not installed the Adobe Flash Plugin, but ran the files anyway. Upon clicking it I was taken to the Android Marketplace, where it pulled up Adobe Flash 11 which of course is not officially compatible with the ChaCha. Thought I would report my findings. It seems hunch in the last post so far seems correct - Adobe Flash is still on the phone, somewhere, based upon what I have been able to do and see thus far, but isn't quite working as well as it ought to. Perhaps Adobe Flash 11 would do things right? By the way, in the official Marketplace one will see an app called 'Flash Player 12' - I have not tried to run it as the same developer also supposedly had Chrome and GTA (like on a PC or PS2) for Android. That seems quite fishy to me.
here Adobe Flash Player 10.3 for ARM6 Processors...

Update: seems like it's not installing....
not sure why
Don't know why your 10.3 did not install. Did you try going to Adobe's Flash plugin site to test it out? If it installed it show your flash version and display an animated banner.

I'd like to ask if anyone has figured out how to run Adobe Flash properly on the ChaCha

Yes! Flash 10.2 is running on my HTC ChaCha, I've shared how I did it in a tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1475575
Root is required, but as you probably know, the XTC clip is no longer required for root. I've added instructions for it all anyway
Currently, there is not a option to run Adobe Flash but a flash edition for BlackBerry is in the performs hopefully this season. Actually, I heard about it at ChaCha as well.
so nice
Usefull question thx
The xoom browser has started crashing on youtube videos lately. At first it won't display the video at all and all it shows is a grey screen. When I put the video in fullscreen mode, it starts for a moment but shortly after that the browser crashes. At the same time the youtube application displays all videos and flash content properly. I tried to reinstall the flash player but it didn't solve the problem. What else can I do to fix the issue?
Id try clearing your browser cache. (not the history, but the cache in the manage applications in settings. the stock browser has its hiccups, but is pretty stable for me. it my main browser i use.
Didn't work, any other suggestions? Actually the issue occurs on YouTube only, when I open another flash video website the videos run normally.
your running youtube thru the browser? why?
That ain't the question. I just want to view YouTube normally in the browser.
ICS or HC?
what browser you on?
using latest version of flash?
is your flash hulu-optimized?
are you using a adblocker?
Are you on youtube full site or mobile?
what kernel are you using?
possible resolutions:
uninstall flashplayer
clear data/cache of browser
reboot
install flash player
try browser again
or
set your plugin settings in browser to 'on demand' and see if that works
or
use browser+ if on ICS
use another browser if on HC
if none of this works do a nandroid backup/wipe and start over and see if the problem subsides.
if its resolved start re installing other apps.
if not, you've got a rom/kernel problem, nandroid restore back to where you were and begin more troubleshooting. or find another rom/kernel to try.
i'm on stock ICS and i don't have this issue. my browser sometimes disappears off the screen, but remains in my current apps menu and when reopened it restores where i was and all the tabs, so its no big deal.
ICS or HC? - HC
what browser you on? - Stock
using latest version of flash? - Yes, updated it yesterday.
is your flash hulu-optimized? - No idea what this means.
are you using a adblocker? - No.
Are you on youtube full site or mobile? - Mobile
what kernel are you using? - No idea, everything is pure stock.
uninstall flashplayer
clear data/cache of browser -
reboot
install flash player
try browser again
- Already did, didn't work.
set your plugin settings in browser to 'on demand' and see if that works - Didn't work.
use browser+ if on ICS - I'm still on HC.
use another browser if on HC - Don't want, the stock browsers is the best for my needs.
if none of this works do a nandroid backup/wipe and start over and see if the problem subsides. I'm too unexperienced to do that.
-------
I also noticed something else. If the browser doesn't crash, when I press the Play button several times the videos plays normally, but in the beggining there is always that grey screen with the "play" icon inside it.
well first of all you need to upgrade to ICS, just sayin.
ive never ran HC cuz i got my xoom after the ICS update dropped. So im not sure if its a HC issue or a flash issue. but try these:
the grey screen insinuates the plugin isn't loading properly.
try obtaining a older flash version. try the hulu optimized one in the hulu xoom thread on here. or just google a older flash apk
try loading the desktop version of the site.
does flash plugin app have a cache you can clear?
load another browser just for the hell of it to see if its persistent no matter the browser. least we can narrow down where the issue is. flash or the browser.
i love the stock browser too, but u may need another to access certain sites.
or dare i say it....the use actual APP...
any other apps you may have installed that affect the browser? you should look into rooting and backing up your apps w/ titanium backup to your sd card and wiping your system and starting fresh. small issues like this are hard to fix.
Thanks for your efforts and help but now it seems the problem has disappeared from itself somehow. Everything is running fine now.
Sorry if this has been solved before with ICS, but I'm stumped. I had a Moto Triumph before this. It had Gingerbread, and I installed CM7 onto it. Rooted, overclocked, the whole nine yards. I tried to install Flash from Play but it said it's not supported in my country (WTF, thanks, Adobe!) So I found an APK elsewhere and installed it. Bam! Flash works in Dolphin Browser. It's pretty slow, but it works.
Now, I did the same thing for my Photon Q and its preinstalled ICS. Any browser I try, including Opera Mini Next, Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin Browser and the default Android browser, I just get a blue cube icon where the flash object should be. I downloaded an app from Play that runs .SWF files and it displays the exact same blue cube.
Is there a workaround that anyone is aware of? If Adobe doesn't start supporting mobile devices, I think we'll be seeing Flash replaced before very long. By an open standard.
Officially Adobe has stopped supporting Flash via mobile going forward....but I believe you can still download/install the apk for whatever the last released version for each Android version via this link (you'll have to scroll down to where it lists 'Flash player for Android 4.0 archives' and grab the one at the top of that list in the case of the Q):
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html#main_Archived_Flash_Player_versions_for_developers
And that worked perfectly. Plays nice and smooth, too. Thanks a ton!

You're quite welcome....its not often I'm in a position to be able to help someone rather than being one of the ones asking questions but I was prepared on that one, I read that elsewhere and bookmarked it in my Photon Q folder for later use myself when I get one. I almost did this past weekend but decided to hold off still for now....then when I read in one of the other threads that Roam Control isn't (at least currently) working on it, that's kind of a deal breaker for me until that's fixed. Forcing roaming while at work is just shy of an absolute must unfortunately. :/
