Found this guide on AndroidCentral. Worked for me, happily Swyping again
Did the same, swipe good!
Glad to hear it.
A little note to add, it'll save you future installers some confusion:
After you've gone through the entire install process and made sure Swype is checked in your Language and Keyboard settings, open Messaging, tap Compose message, and tap and hold in the "Tap to add text area". After a few seconds let up and you should see a popup with Input Method. Select Swype and you should be good to go.

Yes it is...
It Works
Nice find. I tried using the program yesterday without the command prompt and had no luck. This made my day!
Thanks for the find can't wait to try

Glad it was helpful guys. I wrote it up because it took me forever to figure out (although it was on the Swype forums) where the temporary package is stored when you are running the installer.
Plus I did the command prompt commands because I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that hate GUIs like I do.
Worked like a charm. Thanks for the help.
Keyboard itself isn't activated.
I was able to actually install Swype, but how do I activate it on the phone for SMS, and other apps?
NVM. lol.

Good work
SWM alone didn't get Swype installed for me, but your guide did.
Just installed on my rooted Inspire 4G. Works great. Little bit of a learning curve, but i really like it

Wasnt sure exactly where to post this. The new app from Vlingo, "Vlingo InCar" is in beta, and only available through the market for sprint customers during the beta period.
Could one of you kind evo users post up the apk for the rest of the android community? Thanks!
Best of luck with it! I love it so far!

When you put it in "InCar" mode you can say "Hey Vlingo" to wake it up and use voice commands.
FYI, this works on the VZW with the Incredible with no problem..

Also, it works! The new Google program is about 1/10 in getting what I say right.
Vlingo is (so far) about 5/5. I like that if it doesn't find what you're saying locally, it does a (very fast) internet search.
any word on making it work for other android devices? ie the g-1

Works great on the dinc. I appreciate the share!
thank you so much for sharing this app with the community. I have been fooling around with it for half an hour or so and it does some pretty awesome things. LOVE the in-car feature, completely hands-free and works perfectly, even reads and writes text messages for me. "hey vlingo"
Edit: Forgot to add, very accurate, even with names
Wow, the incar mode is really REALLY good. Anybody know how to have it differentiate between a contacts home and cell when sending a text message?
Say call blah blah mobile. That should work.

Google's voice search sucked at recognizing what I was saying for the first week or so, but then it got a lot better. I'm wondering if it learns your voice or something. Vlingo, on the other hand, worked well on day one. However, while it does a good job of recognizing what I am saying, it doesn't always give me the results I wanted. For instance, movie times never come up even though that's one of the examples the app shows, and it displays my exact phrase correctly (movie times near #####). It just says "No answer found". And I've also had trouble getting it to dial the right phone number for a contact. It's like it ignores when I say "mobile."
I'm having the same problem. It ignores when I say "mobile" after the contacts name. My g/f is getting irritated with the text to landline messages that repeat "test" lol
Is it necessary to install the standard Vlingo app before installing the incar pack?
I´ve been trying to download the installer but i still cant find it, it´s not in the market either.
It would be much if I ask to share the installer?

? It's in the second post of this thread.
anyway to successfully have this running in the background with the in-car? Currently it seems that the program has to be on main screen for me to say "Hey Vlingo" and it wakes...
Plus..too bad I cant say Jarvis to have it wake up
Instead of 'mobile' try saying 'cell'.

Right now the best way is to make two contacts for the person and label one cell and one home after the name. Best workaround at the moment.

Yeah, I went ahead and did that the other day, but thanks! Hopefully that will get sorted.
It would be nice if you could ask it to use your GV # by default as well.
i wonder if there is any way to train a contact that it gets wrong every time. Wifes name is tricky and unless i use her last name first it misses it every time.

This is the first time I've ever tried to adb pull an update off my phone. I think this is the file you want. If its not, I apologize in advance. It came from /data/apps and I think thats the right place. If not if someone tells me the right place I'll get it up tomorrow.

tried to do both on my own, but I seem to be messing up some where, cause
neither end up working.
Thanks.
The keyboard is easy find one you like in the market download it then go back to the home screen and press menu , settings, language and keyboards, then put a check by the keyboard then go into gmail or anything here you can pull up a keyboard and on the input screen long press and select keyboard

OK, first things first. What ROM are you running?
Stock TNT--and therefore TNTLite--does not "allow" switching the keyboard. Of course, there are (easy) work arounds.

Stock with performance pack. I have done read the posts and tried to do it, but
I can't get it to work. Same with the frame rate hack. If someone could walk
me though it on a messenger or even make a video that would help.
OK, did you see this post?

The part about rooting is important. I didn't have to do that since I had already flashed TNTLite, so I can't give you any insight on z4root. Should be in the market though.

Already rooted.
You'll want to get Root Explorer from the market so you can move the API file from one directory to the other. Then, Jim, who wrote that post invited stock users to private message him about an app to help select the keyboard. I've read a lot of his posts and he really knows his stuff.
Does anyone have issues with it working? Sometimes it works, then other times it completely stops doing anything. It will popup and ill start swyping but it wont register anything.

I've seen other people say that when they have issues with swype, just switch input (long press on a text field and change input to keyboard), then switch back and it should be OK

I stopped using it for this reason. Having to switch text input was irritating me. I just use the stock keyboard, works fine.
I stopped using it because of this issue until I flashed CM7. Figured i would give it another try. It has not stopped working in the 3 days that I have been using CM7, so maybe it had something to do with AR?
Does it come on all the roms? Can't find swype on mine.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I have the same issues with Swype on AR 3, and now RCMix HD 4.1... But since there's an easy workaround, I'll keep using it as I like Swyping so much.
It works fine on my stock, un-rooted Inspire. I just simply downloaded the latest Swype apk file, and side loaded it through SWM. Simple, clean and easy. It works flawlessly, and has been for weeks now.
I just started having this problem today actually. I have been using it for a week and a half now. Don't know why it just happened today. I had to reset it twice earlier but fine now.

you have to sign up for the beta here where they send you a download link. At which point in your browser it may tell you that you are not using an android device. If you encounter this change your settings to show as a mobile and then you should be able to download and load it the way they show there
link as follows

happy hunting
After reading the terms of service on XDA regarding swype, I removed this post. The post linked to another member who linked the apk file. In the future, anyone considering posting a swype apk file should read this...

How do you know this is the "Real" version and not just the apk someone got from the beta? Cause this (http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-inspire-4g/60295-guide-installing-swype-beta-htc-inspire-4g.html - which is referenced in that thread) shows you how to pull the .apk out of the beta, which is what I believe is being shared

not to mention of course that SWYPE does not want its apk being shared as such, and wants all copies to be properly licensed which even XDA is observing and removing links to the downloads when they see them to observe swypes request that they have proper copies and/or have permission to install it in their roms or on their own devices.
with link to corroborate the story from what I read yesterday

Thanks phil.W for the the heads up. I removed my post on that matter upon reading those terms of service from the link you provided. And yes, someone should let the other member, who is linking to the apk file, know about that as well. No reason to step on anyone's foot over at Swype and cause any problems for developers here on XDA.
Thanks again.
Just passing this on, almost started a thread to ask for help before finding the answer with Google.
After using Bubbys simple root, everything has been working fine except for a couple of things. Noticed a couple of issues with the market; first, it started trying to install all of my apps at once, and none were actually finishing installing. I had to go and cancel downloads of all the ones I could, then restart the downloads; worked fine then. Everything I've tried to install has worked that way that I've tried except Angry Birds. Tried to install it, got an error and wouldn't install. Tried pushing it in, same problem. It was driving me crazy, but I just came across a suggestion that I tried. Unmount the SD card, install, remount the card; works great. Just passing it on if anyone else has a market install problem after Bubbys root.
This should probably be posted in bubbys thread for his one click simple root. So he can add it to the f.a.q. That would seem to be the most appropriate place for it.
Thank you for the info though.

Gonna post it there too, because I have another issue I haven't solved and need some answers for. Just trying to skim through to make sure it hasn't been addressed already. These threads are damn hard to read through, though, there are so many posts (2,340 right now!). It cracks me up when someone asks a question and someone else gives a snippy comback about how it was already asked and answered 30 pages back on page 43.
EDIT: Should have looked over the FAQ better to start with.
"Q: Why are my Market downloads paused/not working?
A: This is actually a Market issue, but has a fairly easy fix:
Open Settings>Applications>Manage Applications.
Select the Market app.
Click “Clear Cache” and/or “Clear Data” if either of them are able to be pressed.
Reboot your Inspire."
Works better than my way.
