looking for some help - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ive havent been able to find any useful info so...
my buddy has a WP7 Samsung Focus, can it be jailbroke/rooted yet?

the only form that can be done at the moment is "developer unlocking". what this allows you to do is sideload xap files to the phone without a developer account (to have a developer account you have to pay the $99 a year fee).
this is the only form at the moment. no proper jailbreaking/rooting.

NVFLASH for B80

Why is the developer not seeking help with the new nvflash? I am sure some of us could help with reverse engineering. I, for one, have been a programmer for 30 years and have created a number of apks for the android based os.
A better question mightt be why is there only one dev helping with this little problem? is there a gitlib for some to look at? Why did ASUs slip him/her the newest nvflash? Maybe we are not geting the whole story?

[Q] How do I root a U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy S SCH-R530?

I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S III SCH-R530 32GB from U.S. Cellular and haven't rooted it or anything. I was wondering if anyone had any instructions or tips they could give me?
Before this I had a Motorola Electrify that I successfully rooted, but since this is a newer phone I'm guessing the steps have changed since then.
I have heard stuff about some triangle sometimes appearing after rooting, and something else about a counter.
I would like to root my Galaxy S so that those things don't happen if possible.
Any help would be great, thank you! :fingers-crossed:
Anyone going to help? Thank you.

Wow
I understand where you are coming from with seeing it many times, but why do you have to be so harsh? Some of us do attempt before we ask. But seeing a response like yours makes it more frustrating then helpful. You're a junior member, if you can't be nice or respond with something nice then don't at all.
I'm sure at one point in time you were in the "noob" shoes. And I'm sure you were frustrated as well. Did you feel good when someone was ruthless and harsh like that to you?
Not being rude, just stating a fact.

Really annoying when posts like this seem to always be the number one Google search for model# root. If they're such a problem, admins should be deleting them so they aren't everyone else's number one search hit. Yes, I know this will only make the thread come back up, but it's already #1 Google. If the question isn't worth anyone answering, no need to be in the questions and answers section.
For anyone who got here searching Google. This thread is not a guide. A link or two down on "SCH-R530 root" there's an android sc link with a guide and download. (That was just the next closest, so there's something here.)

No man, I really hate people who ask for help and then shouts at those same people who helps you. The guy previously there just gave a comment to help the people who land on this thread future. For example "me".. The OP didn't have to be so rude about that IMHO. No offence to you BTW

While it may be annoying, imagine how annoying it becomes when tens of users continually ask "how do you root such and such models" without ever bothering to spend 5 or 10 minutes googling it or searching the forum they post in. Unless a phone model literally just came out, there's going to be information in more than one place on how to root that device. It becomes frustrating to many people when individual after individual consciously refuses to take 5 - 10 minutes and research what they want. I love helping people, and I regularly post in other forums, but when numerous individuals ask how to root their devices when the information is extremely easy to find by simply going to Google and typing "root [model number]" or "how to root [model number]", it shows the person doesn't really care about helping themselves (if they don't care, how can anyone else). If a person can't find the information after 10 minutes of researching on their own, then I have no complaint... but considering the vast majority of questions on how to root a device can be answered with a simple Google search, if a person refuses to make this simple effort, then I don't feel they should be told how to root it since they're expecting to be treated like a child and have someone else act as a parent.
Forums are there as a tool to help people, but that doesn't absolve an individual from the responsibility to help themselves.

CF-Auto-root
Sorry i am a noob and may have missed this in another forum but does cf auto root work for the us celluar s3 running 4.3?
I myself have landed on this page through Google & the sites search function several times, in fact in three pages this is the most relevant. So for my own benefit and others here are three methods for the galaxy s3 sch-r530 that I've found for either the 530 specifically & earlier android builds, r530 with 4.3 or all s3's. The link for the Sprint root method posted earlier links back to this forum within the one posted.

[Q] Is a new root method being worked on?

I've only had my S6 for a couple weeks so mine was already updated to the latest OTA version by the time I got it, and so I can't use pingpong. I don't mean to be redundant and post this question if it has already been asked but I can't find any other info at the moment in this forum, but does anybody know if anything is in the works for the current version that it would be worth holding off on the upcoming 5.1 OTA? Or is the root that you first wave guys got to use probably a one-time thing for this phone? Coming from an HTC one where I was able to unlock my bootloader I am starting to miss having root...
If a new Root is available, you will SEE it all over the forums... no need to ask.

Yeah don't bother reading the question before posting a dumb pretentious answer to it. I asked if one was being WORKED ON that was worth holding off on the OTA for, not if one was available now.
I agree.. Lots of jerks in these forums.. I check regularly to see if a root method is available BUT ALSO to see the progress if any.. Simple yes or no or say nothing .. No need to be an ass.

I'm not sure if a root method is being worked on for the current update but I can tell you that the exploit for pingpong has been patched so that is a one time thing. I think our best bet for the next method will be when 5.1 comes out.

No, everyone has given up all hope and quit.
Seriously, what kind of answer to you think you would get?
The people working on it are rarely going to talk about it until they actually have a solution unless they are working with other developers trying out possible solutions. None of it is going to be public until they have a solution to prevent the MFG or vendors from plugging up a new hole they found before they can use it.
Asking if it is being worked on is just plain dumb. This is the same cycle of every new device that has ever been released with the same questions asked all over again.
What really is the point in asking? IF and when it becomes available it will be big news splashed all over the forums not just here but other places.
Constant asking about it is actually a violation of the forum.

Asking once like I did isn't against any forum rules, trolling everything thread you participate in like you do is: it doesn't take a hard look through your posts to see that. I'm surprised your mommy and daddy let you talk like this on the internet. You don't actually contribute any knowledge or development to this site, you just act like a moron to make yourself feel better about how fat and useless you are. Stop even posting in my thread you scum

Rooting my SM-G30V

Hello all!
New to the site and new to android (relatively speaking). For the last 7 years, I have been trapped with Apple and decided to pick up a 2nd line so I can get a rooted android phone. Should have done my research before hand and I will definitely know for next time but after hours of trying to root my S7, found out.... I need to unlock bootloader. Great! Start searching around and I am reading conflicting posts and forums. Some say you can others say you can't. I have seen a post here from about 5 months ago saying it is now possible, however, they provided no information on how to do it. Please excuse my noobness but this is my first attempt at rooting. This phone is a junk phone mainly used for me to screw around with as my real personal phone is still my apple. Can anyone provide help? Is it possible? If so, what steps or anyone have any guides I can go follow? Links and or information would be greatly appreciated!! Been trying all week with no luck.
Is it possible... kind of but its shouldn't be your daily, should you do it based on your noobness... no.

Never said this was my daily please read again as this is a junk phone for me to destroy and screw around with. I am a developer so just because I am a noob doesn't mean I am technologically illiterate either This just is something I never looked into before since I have had an apple phone for my personal usage for the last 7 years and it was something I have never been interested in doing until recently. I actually bought this phone with the intention of rooting, however I didn't do my homework as I thought pretty much any android would be able to be rooted.
Thank you for your time to reply though but I did find the thread as it was in a different forum section and I will give that a try.
You my friend have can to the right place. Xda will be your main go to from this point on when it comes to your Android device related Intel needs.
Check this area of the site. It's directed to owners of the Verizon S7 Variant (G930V)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7
You will find the info you need there to do what your looking for. Be sure that when u are flashing and messing with files that you get firwares/files that are for your particular model and also check build numbers and stuff like that. Do your research before making any attempts at something your unsure of. Ask questions. Community Members will be glad to help.
Have fun and be careful

Anytime brotha. I'll see ya over there. I have a (G930V) also but I'm running the (G930U) software as I don't use Verizon as my Cellular Provider.

What am I missing?

So, lately I've been trying to find a use for this Verizon tablet. I currently just use it as a reader but I'd really like to just mess around with it a bit and learn how to Linux on tablet.
I can't seem to find any information on this particular device. I've tried a number of different ways and I always end up hitting a wall in the process. ...anyone got any info on how to root this Galaxy Tab E "sm-t378v".
Hint: Replace this thread's abolute meaningless title by "How to root SM-T378V" thus owners of such a tablet mainly get addressed.
...is that how helpful you need to be to become a senior member? If so I doubt I'll find what I need here.

You wouldn't get anything if you're here just for "What am I missing". If you know how to make a thread, you should know what you should write the title too right? He wasn't wrong.
As per check, there is no availability rooting that model, yet.
Great, thanks for the info. ...and now for my final question? Where is the delete account button on this website? I no longer want to be a member with such elitist people, it's pretty gross.
