I'm new to the android world (just got a Mytouch 4G) and have a vexing issue. I'm a broker and get a lot of calls from random numbers not on my contacts list. The problem is that for missed calls, I call the person back, but the number is still listed on the call log with the missed call. Is there any way to instead have the standard behavior I'd always been used to with older symbian and win-mo phones of automatically clearing the missed call icon when I've called the number back?
Sometimes I have a lot of calls to make and can't get to missed calls until after making those other calls... now when I see a missed call, I have to look through all the numbers I've recently dialed to make sure I haven't already called them back. Am I just missing something, or is there a way to get the desired behavior?

When someone calls me the call never shows up on my phone to pick up but keeps ringing on their end and sends them to voice mail. So i receive missed calls with no sign of the missed call on my phone. I have also recreated this situation with my house phone and evo. is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me? What actions should i take?
I am running baked snack all updated; root and nand unlocked.
Dear Sir or Madame,
I would like my phone to ring silently (as if the sound profile were set to "silent") when an "Unknown" caller calls it. By "Unknown" I mean callers who block their number. I do not mean callers who aren't in my address book, whose number is displayed when they call. I do not want the phone to hang up on the calls, redirect them to some other number, or any other type of fancy response.
I have tried over a dozen "call / sms blocker" type apps from the market, and every single one of them has two problems: 1) They are way, way, over complicated, and 2) None of them work properly - each has one or more bugs which interfere with normal usage of my phone.
Does anyone know of an app which would simply "ring" silently for "Unknown" callers, and doesn't do much, if anything, else?
My phone is an HTC Inspire 4G. I can run either Froyo or Gingerbread, in case that is an issue in finding a solution to my problem.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Showtune
Two or three times now its happened where if someone calls my phone and I miss the call, after they leave a voicemail I get notified of the voicemail, but then my phone starts ringing again instantly and the caller ID shows my own number. If I try to answer that "call" I get silence, then some random number dialing, then it disconnects. Any ideas?
The first time it happened I thought whoever had called just called right back but I missed that call as well. When I looked at my call log, it shows my own number as a missed call. It just happened now as I was sitting at my desk, I didnt answer because I was on my office phone, and just as I got the notification, I got another call from my own number. Seems odd to me...
Anyone else getting this ever?

I could only think this is your phone's way of telling you to check your voicemail. usually, on t-mobile anyway, if you dial your own cell phone number it redirects you to your voicemail. It could be an error with your firmware or network though. Have you made any changes to your phone recently (i.e. ROM change/update)? Think of any possible conditions that may have changed with your phone since this started. Have you contacted your provider? Check your online call history through your carrier site and see if the same number appears at the time of call. If it does, the issue could be someone spoofing you. You can do this with spoofcard/spoofapp. It's hard to actually connect with a phone with the same number you're spoofing though, since it redirects to voicemail. As a precaution, i'd add a pin to my voicemail if I were you- in the event that this is the case. I found this out by spoofing one of my buddies once. In an attempt to boggle his mind, I tried using his number as the number of origin and found out that it directed to his voicemail, giving me access to that information.
It happens if I call my own phone from my house and leave a voicemail. I dont think its anyone spoofing my number. As you said, its almost like the phone gets a notification from a remote computer and a call from it at the same time.
I has done it at least once with every version of ARHD I have ran, but not all the time.

Call up your voicemail and go through the main menu to make sure voicemail paging notifications are turned off.
Ha! I bet that was it! Thanks go to you sir.
It was turned on for urgent messages (which explains why not all did it). When I turned it off and left myself a voice mail test it didn't do it. Weird, I wonder how it got turned on...

My dad is telling me about a problem when he misses a call, people leave a vm but there is no record of a missed call.
I tested this. I called him, he didn't answer, I left a message and hung up, the call did not show up as a missed call. my caller id is not blocked.
I tried calling him a different time and this time pushed decline on the call and left a vm, it recorded that and showed caller id.
Any ideas?

Did the first call test never show up in notification? was there a voicemail notification at least?
Is this stock or rooted/custom rom? What software version?
It's a stock rom
4.1.1 with Sense 4+, it doesn't say there are any software updates.
I searched a lot to find a forum for this topic I couldn't find one so here it goes.
I live in Canada and I received 5 or more calls from this number (716-895-3300) .. it is a Buffalo, NY number and it is a medical facility fax number or something from what I found out in my search. I received 5 calls within half an hour from this. Every time it would leave a voice message and the voice message is silent except some beeping noises. I didn't answer the call even though I was tempted but I made a big mistake. I accidentally called it... I was trying to call my voice message number but my finger hit this number and it went on until my phone vibrated(meaning probably that call went through) and then I hang up. After calling this number the calls stopped. Again suspicious.
So my question is... can you get hacked if you call a suspicious number like this?
I changed my banking app password but didn't change my multiple email address passwords.... too lazy. So can you get hacked if you call a suspicious number and the call goes through and just when they are about to pick up you hang up?
What makes you think you been hacked?
It may be true that your device was compromised, but not from those calls.
I don't think that your mobile phone will get hacked if you just call a suspicious number.
Probably ok for such a short time frame call...
