I had the same issue. I ended up downloading Youmail from the market. It does the same thing and it saves me $2.99 a month because it is free.
How about Google voice? Is not it the same?

Just tried Youmail and seems to work well. Though I get an email alter after a voice mail comes in. Is there a premium messaging charge to use this service?

Google voice is its own voicemail service, you use it in place of vzw vm

I tried the vvm.apk from the Droid X and it installs, but it doesn't download the voicemails. You can only check to see if you have messages.

So you can setup Google Voice to use your cell number to retrieve VZW voicemail?
Yay for me being helpful.
Use your favorite file editor. (I use root explorer)
Go into /system and open up build.prop in the editor.
Look for a line that says ro.horizontalVVM = true and change that to false.
Then just download VVM from the market.

No you actually setup a new vm number thru google and it switches from vzw to gvoice. It sets up a completely new vm system you cant check vzw vm"s thru gvoice

WOW, this works 100%.
ro.HorizontalVVM = false
Thanks so much! Now I can stay with CM7 and enjoy my Verizon Visual Voicemail!
Yea this is what I do because I like vvm and gladly pay for it over Google voice.

Incredible find. You've solved my only gripe with custom ROM's. Booyah!!!
My custom CM7 Gingerbread ROM now has VZW's Visual Voicemail integrated into the ROM.

Very easy. I edited the CM7 build.prop thanks to you, and then I added the Verizon Voice Mail app from the market to it.
Instructions to have Google Voice replace your Verizon Voicemail:
Within Google Voice's web interface, click on Settings > Voice Settings. On the Phones tab simply click on "Activate Google Voice on this phone" and it will give you instructions on how to enable G-Voice on your phone. (It'll be dialing *71..... from your mobile number).
To disable, just follow the same instructions but choose "Deactivate Google Voice on this phone".
So simple. Free.
Hmm... I edited my build.prop as shown (ro.HorizontalVVM = false) in your post and saved using RE (r/w enabled). I checked build.prop afterwards, and it indeed has been edited correctly. I rebooted the phone, and downloaded Verizon's VVM. But the app is still asking me to accept or decline the $2.99? Why isn't this working for me? FYI, I'm using CM7 RC1.

It's certainly not in the UK sim free handset (Samsung) market. I have a CPW sourced sim free unit.
I have installed it from the above attached apk, and it seems to work perfectly.
very good app. The only bad thing is that i can't launch Navigon instead of stardard google Navigator
I changed the contents of my /system/csc/sales_code.dat file to XEU and used market enabler to try some different MCC/MNC codes (Meteor was a good one) and Car Home popped up in mine. (Editing this file does much the same as changing your CSC via the link above, but without wiping your device).
I was about to upload it as well as I hadn't found it before - so just in case, here's my link to it:

Whilst playing around I've now got Asphalt HD and NFS:Shift. Not that I've got any real use for either and they both chew up a lot of space.
On Rotos ROM there ia also an app for that, does someone know where i can find this app for stock ROMs?

Why is it that every time I open the browser this thing pops up saying privacy and security with my gmail account. Anyway to hide that or just turn it off? It's kinda annoying.. thanks!

It's a replacement, or alternate, application for your messaging needs, whether it be SMS or MMS. Similar applications would be ChompSMS and Go SMS Pro.

I have a weird issue with Google voice and just wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem. I had Google voice installed before the JB update and then after the update the app is still installed as a system app but it's not in the app drawer.
I'm a Canadian user. Could it be that it's being blocked cause of carrier, it didn't use to?
Also the version of Google voice on my phone is a newer version than in the market.

I think I had this happen with a different app and fixed it in ROM manager with a "Fix Permissions". It's worth a shot.

For the sports to work you have to go to dashboard and enable web history and then search for your tram. Eg. Scores for xx then it will add your tram

This is a tested and working Exchange Security Bypass that I am using on my AT&T LG G3. This mod should work on any variant of LG G3 that is running stock or AOSP ROM's.
All credit goes to the below developer, I was simply looking for a solution to bypass the exchange security policy that required me to have a password or pin on my lockscreen. After several tests using Xposed Framework and other APK's I came across this and it works flawlessly. You can see the developers thread here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965468
DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible if:
• You get caught by your employer and are punished in any way
• This bricks, breaks, scratches, dents, misplaces or cracks your phone
• This security bypass leads to any negative outcome.
USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I have rooted my phone and used Root Browser to perform the following steps (You can use ADB as well, please follow the guide in the link above).
Instructions:
1. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR STOCK EMAIL (LGEmail.apk & LGEmail.odex) - Copy and place it in another folder incase anything happens and you want to revert.
*Stock LG Email is located in system/priv-app2. After your make a backup, delete the stock LGEmail.apk and LGEmail.odex files
3. Download the files attached to this post and put them in the system/app folder
4. Change the permissions of the two new APK's (Exchange2.apk & Email.apk) to rw-r-r (DON'T FORGET TO DO THIS)
4. Once the 2 files (Exchange2.apk & Email.apk) are placed in your system/app folder, click on them and install
5. That's it...close out of your root explorer, open your new email app and set up your exchange account. :good:
I hope this helps users who are looking for a solution to their exchange security issues like I was. Enjoy
Very cool. In the dev thread, it states "The app tells the server what it wants to hear - which is they have total control over the device, but it doesn't really do anything on the phone". Does this appear to be the case for the G3? My company requires the ability to remote wipe the device as well, looking for a way to bypass that.
Not sure it truly disables the company's ability to control your phone rather it just allows you to bypass the password.

If you backed up your email app as stated in the OP you wouldn't be without email. If you did back them up, place them back in the priv-app folder and reboot your phone.
Myself and many others have used this method with no issue. What isn't working?
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You seem to have flown over the whole point.
What's not working is I'm left without an email app. Backing it up isn't the problem nor was that indicated. Nor am I doubting the seeming plethora of people you state have succeeded in this.
I however, following your instructions, end up without an email app with which I can connect to an exchange account, with or without security. It's simply not there.
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk 2
All you mentioned was it didn't work and you're left without an email app so my apologies that I didn't quite follow you.
If you copied the email apks I provided to your system>App folder, changed the permissions and installed them but nothing showed up then I'm at a loss.
Sorry for any trouble you've run into. This should have acted like installing any other app after it was all said and done.
What version of the G3 are you on, what carrier?
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The install went fine but there's no app in the drawer. And even if I go to accounts there's no exchange listed or email.
Not sure what I'm doing different, not a big deal, my company email can be had from a website as well

Install went fine, but it times out validating server settings. Not sure why. Maybe the server isn't being told what it wants.

I tested the tweaksbox bypass but I've had a couple issues where the exchange account got removed when adding other accounts (yahoo). Not sure if this is isolated to me or just a bug in the tweaksbox bypass.

Weird. I installed as directed and I see two options for corporate when addin an account from settings.
The app times out when trying to validate server settings.
EDIT: Do you have the odex files? I think that would help.
