I was doing some searching the other day, and i came across this post.

Now this is the HTC Camera App for regular Nexus 1 builds.
So i was wondering if anyone was capable of getting this working on a Froyo build for the desire?
I have attached the ZIP so you can have a look.
Hopefully it will lead to a better camera app for Froyo

Yea the original post claims it works fine on the Nexus so i cant see why it wouldnt work on the desire.
I would look into it myself but have no idea where to start.

Well im having a go myself.
Ive updated all files to reflect the 2.2 versions...
and updated the boot.img with what i saw relevant from the previous one.
Phone boots which is good
but when i run the camera app it force closes.
now its taken me 2 hours to get to this stage from knowing nothing so just guessing ive missed a few things from the boot image.
so ill update when ive looked at it more. Going to bed soon

ok i found a 2.2 version for the nexus which contains a kernel for the camera to work properly.
surely someone can get this working on the desire?

i'd really love both .
if you mean the htc gallery then nope. the only thing i like about the htc rom is the camera, hence why im trying to get this working so bad! the quality in the pics is alot better than the stock froyo camera app.

i know, that's why i want it too, also it has face recognition. but also the htc gallery is much better than the android stock gallery. its way faster and more beautiful.
the htc camera would be great indeed, so +1 for that.
This would be great. The HTC Camera app still makes me want to switch to a Sense ROM. Hopefull someone is able to make this happen
well as it stands no devs seem interested, im doing my best but its my second day working on it from knowing nothing about android
just bugs me that they have this working on the nexus 1 on AOSP roms, yet there inst one for the desire, and its the phone it came from!
would be so awesome if you could get this working... I had a crack at playing with the htccamera files from enomthers rom but got nowhere at all, so I guess I know less than nothing ^^;
This is my first thread, but I think it's a pretty badass request.
I am a DIEHARD Myn Warm TwoPointTwo user, and I won't stray...except when I went to MIUI to see what this "whole new" UI was about. I didn't care for it anywhere near as much as Myn's, however the lockscreen is the best one I've seen since OWNING a smart phone.
Other lockscreens work on our EVO....rotory, vanilla, and through an app the iphone. MIUI is already on our EVO, can someone just find the code and bring it to us (JsChiSurf )
I am sure I am not alone on this request...lol, if you ever tried MIUI and came back to a sense ROM you know the lockscreen from MIUI is brilliant and should be available to us all.

I would like to see that as well. I believe I've seen similar features on some lock screens but non as well done as MIUI.

Yeah, I forgot about the equalizer part...that was HOT! I also like the charging effects...while charging it has some awesome animation going on.

For those who don't know about this LOCKSCREEN....nandroid backup, and flash MIUI - do some charging and look at the lock screen. Then listen to music and look at the lockscreen. Nandroid restore...and tell me you dont want that lockscreen on your ROM!!

not sure is this the best section to ask this but, i really like MIUI's notification bar system where you can switch between toggles and notifications
but i hate the rest of it
anyways is there a way to put integrate that into another ROM?

The same feature was introduced by hTC in Sense 2.1 Gingerbread. It should be in NexusSense but the ROM is only in AlphaStage.

Hello everyone. I'm new to the sgs4g forums and I hope to be one of the great devs here. I have been working on a miui port for our device from vibrant sources. There is so much stuff to do and I cant archive it alone. With little cooperation from this great community, we can get a fully working miui build for our galaxy S 4g. Got the miui build to boot. Now to fix and sort out the issues.

If u hate the ui just use a launcher.. miui is super stable.. offers DAYS of battery life.. customization and endless amounts of mods unavailable on any other rom. plus 2.3.5 If you've ever used it you'd know it's an amazing rom

MIUI is FAR from an iPhone. Sure it looks similar, but that's where the similarities end.
Don't know why people bash MIUI because it's so called an iPhone look-a-like.
The only thing I dont like about miui is its launcher. If you swapped it with adw or any other launcher from the market it going to turn into one of the best roms ever. Its really fast and eye candy. Check this video out

Dude never give up even if people dont like MIUI you never make a rom for anyone in particular.. the work that is done on this comunity is for everyone and its always apreciated.. that said.. if you need help with this try contacting developers in the vibrant forum whom have created MIUI.. or try contacting people in the official MIUI forum i think its called MIUI.us not sure.. but all i know is that someone out there will be able to help you it doesnt necesarly have to be developers in this particular forum.. never give up man you might end of being a recognized developer due tp your hard work.. nothing in life is easy.. i really do wish i could help you but the my best advice would be... talk to other MIUI developers im sure theyll be able to help you.. thank you for your dedication to this forum

Reading that port thread, it seemed like the method is a no go.
Towards the end, everyone gave up.
I wish someone can help out. I would if I actually knew how to develop. Having miui would be freaking awesome

Update 1. 8/11
I have been working on the port for the past 2 days non stop. All im getting is boot loops, its really irritating me tbh. If you can point me on what Im doing wrong I will be really appreciated. Here is the logcat maybe some other smarter person can put a light on the issue and narrow it down for me

The port has been Postponed. Cant port miui without cm7. We need cm7 kernel and cm7 drivers. As soon cm7 gets released for sgs4g I will have the port done.

or u could have ported from source and rebuilt it from the ground up for the sgs4g

I would've built it from source if miui was open source
i got something to help your 1 error we had left and your kernel along with the proper device vendor trees rils so on so forth lol as i went back though ur stuff and snagged miui source and started the port over from there but used the stuff we worked on to speed some areas up
modified your inits added back in some other things here and there god i dont wanna chanin log this on a post ill send it to you on gtalk and you can update your op
dangg i was thinking about trying to work on a port also but it seems like everyone's having trouble
So I guess its not east to port from galaxy s or vibrant? There have been some unnofical ports to other devices on miuiandroid.com and niui.us but no one there is bothering to help
They are completely different devices. It's pretty tough to port an entire rom. But if anyone needs any help, I'm willing to do what I can

I was wanting to know if anyone found any camera mods for our device? Im using 2.3.5 and my camera sucks. it was never really great as it takes forever to snap a picture which is a bad idea for taking pictures of kids and anything that will not stay still forever. i know 2.3.6 had camera improvements but i don't want to move to that just yet as Im still enjoying the speed of 2.3.5.
