CM7 Running Slower Than CM6? - myTouch 4G General

I took the plunge yesterday and flashed CM7. Quadrant has it running slower than when I had CM6. Operatively I'm really not noticing any thing slower. Could it just be Quadrant?
Thanks!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

Quadrant isn't always the best. None of the benchmarks are very accurate. How fast a rom feels is a better representation.

Thanks. What ROM has given you the best battery life?

What kernel are you running??

As the title says I thought it would be interesting to have everyone chime in with what rom/kernel combo and if there is a curtain reason you are running that kernel. I understand that everyone has different reasons for what roms they like but not all kernels will run on all roms.
Personally i'm trying to figure out which room will let setcpu work properly.
Now before anyone says anything, there's no reason for anyone to take offense to any of this. We all have own own reasons for what we prefer.
Thank you for your opinion. And participation.

I don't have any complaints about the stock kernel except that I can't overclock with it. Drives me crazy.

Overrated, benchmarks mean jack

For me the stock kernel works best for now...
for me Stock kernel..stable - fast - smooth
I was able to achieve extremely high benchmark scores with the Unity v7 kernel OCed at 1.78Ghz on many different roms. However, I have discovered that on many roms, including the one I am currently on, the stock kernel has the least lag even without being OCed. So I agree that those benchmark scores do not equate to everyday use.
Stick with the stock kernel for now.
This is great feedback guys. I appreciate it.

ETA: phone may be a little smoother? quad scores and linpack scores both stayed in the same range
is this to work with aosp and sense roms?
It seems to work with Static Nonsense...I can tell a difference but I wouldn't say its dramatic.
I lost root with this, then fixed it, but didn't notice any real improvement after that. Scores stayed the same.

Couldn't hurt. I have to admit my web pages are loading faster, transitions are smoother...apps seem to be loading quicker and overall I can tell a difference...but again I have to say its not a "I'm just blown away by this" difference.
Just wanted to add that after flashing this, the first boot took forever...so long in fact I thought I was gonna have to pull the battery and recover a recent backup.
It did improve overall. even lower bat. drain. Thank you dsexton702 for the share.
I do what I can for you guys

First boot took a little while for me as well using CM7 nightly, but I do definitely like the increase in how smooth everything feels.
Anyone using this with a Sense ROM?
I'm using with VU 2.35 sense 3.0 and it does wonders my score before at 1 ghz. Was 1800
Right after installing u.s.a.s still at 1 ghz jumped up to 2200 quadrent score.
After oc to 1.3 ghz my quadrent score was 2600
Runs very nice hard to tell difference as VU 2.35 runs so smooth but its an improvement

Went from 1991 to 2056. VU 2.35 runs very nice, but was having a small hesitation when turning on screen and this seems to have fixed that issue. Very nice work
So if I cook this in, my autofill does NOT work in messaging, but if I flash it after a rom install its fine
This is an awesome tweak my processor has never been stable over 1.3 now Im running 1.7 ghz and its crazy fast got my quadrent score up to 3000 running this fast
Never had such a smooth experience doesn't matter how many apps are open.

Why does auto fill not work when trying to type a persons name to send text ?
Works before I install this.
Not a big deal but does suck having to go into phonebook and scroll threw alp my contacts to send a message
Just wonder if I can get the ease of typing the persons name back and keep this tweak

Depends on who you ask. I personally love this phone. With the Rom kernel radio combo and a little tweaking, the battery life is awesome, and I've never had any hardware problems.

best phone i have ever had. came from a dinc. at first it is huge. now the dinc is tiny and my Tbolt is perfect. and the battery life is comprable. if you govern the wifi and the mobile radios it isn't bad. you made a great choice with the bolt. we have miui now and soon to have some ishe-cream sandwich. these are exciting times.
not really interested in miui. more so with aosp.

Use the latest radio 1.48.00.0609w_1, 0.01.76.0609w_2.
Sense or aosp, I suggest imoyesons leankernel or jdkoreclipes kernel. They both make sense and aosp kernels and both are top notch.

Love mine, though I have very poor GPS performance and so-so battery life when I first got it in the April timeframe. Since then, the various ROMs have improved it to the point that I don't even care what's coming out now. I'm running BAMF SoaB 1.03 with the latest radio and it's great.

I came from a Droid X and can say that the Thunderbolt is a better phone. I have a few annoyances with it but mainly how it works or doesn't work with Ford Sync. The battery is depressing but I don't want the bulky extended battery. I have Juice Defender on it now and that has helped immensely through the day. I had 54% left on my battery after 8 hours at work with light usage. Before that I was at below 30% after 4 hours. I may still get an extended battery just for when I travel, but this works for me around town.
where would I find soab? Looked everywhere
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Google it. You need to go on a BAMF forum. I dont think they post here.
oh, thats what I tried. Ill google it again
in short, what setup would provide best battery life based off experience amongst thunderbolt users?
Start with the SOAB with the stock kernel, so that you have a baseline then you can try Adr's test 3 or Imo's kernel to see if they make much a difference or not.
I don't think you will get a definitive answer without trying each out on your own phone and objectively seeing which one works best for you and your particular phone.
Good luck.
I agree. Ive been around android for three years and what works best for me does not for everyone else. I was looking for an experienced based answer. The bolt I bought already has soab on it.
Gotcha. I'm using SOAB with Adr's test 3 kernel. Works great for me because I can overclock now, but battery life is about the same as it was with the stock package SOAB kernel.
I've been getting great battery life on SoaB, starting with 1.02 and now on 1.03 since it was released and the kernel that comes with it. Prior to that I was using Eaton GTP, the Froyo build, and it gets phenomenal battery life. Can't wait for them to get their Gingerbread build with Sense 3.5.

if you want insane battery life on soab flash the ziggy kernel beta one and set cpu low to the lowest setting andturn off gps and wifi and mobile antennas when not using them. i was getting 2% drop per hour this way. i went from 8 am to 8:30 pm with no charging and still had 72% battery life left also i overclocked to 1.2.
right now i am on miui wich is sick once they fix the mms it will be amazing. but i am using advanced task killer set to automatically kill apps when the screen turns off and green battery to do the same with the wifi and mobile anteannas.

[Q] MIUI or CM7 or Weapon G2x

Which one are you Running / Why?
Please Leave your Feedback , and vote
Weapon. I tried CM7 and the camera plainly sucked. You need the LG cam to take advantage of the 8mp/1080p camera. MIUI is based on CM7 so the same applies.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
Weapon. I like everything about it and it's the fastest smoothest rom I've tried out of the 3 you listed.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
CyanogenMod... Fastest ROM hands down. OC/UV kernels, so many customizations. Theme Chooser. CM settings. Camera works great for me.
Weapon IV tried the others listed but weapon by far runs the smoothest and fastest for me

Bionix and Faux Rom
I'm really enjoying the CM7 with Faux 4.7 Kernal.
However, I do admit, the camera for the CM7 is butt compared to the original one. I have a T2i so it doesn't matter CM7 hands down, is the fastest ROM I've experienced. 7605 on Antutu
Just switched to Weapon G2x from EaglesBlood and it feels like I just got a new phone! Way better battery life, it's faster and less crashes.
I'm liking Weapon G2X with faux's kernel though I feel like getting used to CM7 because I'm flashing CM9 as soon as its available. At the same time I love weapon. It is so easy to use and the toggles on the slide down bar are convenient.
Sent from my G2X
Went back to Weapon 3.0 today after playing with Bionix and several Miui versions the past weekend. Everything just works. Fast, smooth, predictable. never crashes or hangs up. BT works great. Terrific battery life! An incredible Rom! Only downside is no more updates unless someone else takes over the Rom.
Chalk another one up for Weapon.
"All these noobs hatin' on my weapon when all they've ever run is C M 7."
have you guys tried SinghUI? i think its amazing so far for me atleast... i was on weapon which was great too!!
Definitely hands down weapon...everything pails in comparison. Paired with faux123 re-packed kernel the bootime is way faster and the rom is just incredibly smooth.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
My boot time is actually slower with the new kernel? It used to boot up very quickly. Strange.. Either way it's a great kernel.
Sent from my G2X
dependson what you like.
speedwise - weapon
looks- miui.
battery wise, weapon and miui is the same from my experience.
cm7 is just out of the picture. used it, didnt like it. doesnt look too good and battery drains fast.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
for me actually i get the best battery life with miui :/ with weapon i got around 10-12 hours of usage, with MIUI with CM7 7.2 Kernel i get easily around 15-20hours of good usage.
Weapon - amazing battery life and fits my philosophy - if it ain't broken, don't fix it (not very popular in XDA).

Is it me or does Gingerbread run the best on the Sensation?

ICS ran like a dog on stock and on ROMS, JB is also pretty horrible to be honest, I've tried various ROMS from CM based to Viper and they are all sluggish when you try and do more than 1 thing at a time. I went back to stock Gingerbread today and have to say I am surprised, everything seems to be running pretty smooth and snappy although battery life seems crap but I think I can live with this because of the decent performance.
I wish I could go back to gingerbread too, but I've never gained s-off on my sensation. Now my wife is using it as I have a One and I don't want to mess around with it just now. I remember too when bought the sensation, it was pretty fast and stable. Ics update was horrible. However I flashed the darksense rom on the senny, that's how my wife is using it. She's happy with it just yet...
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I don't know what you're talking about.... For me ICS was about the same as JB, and when I used Sense 4/4.1 it was blazing fast. When I tried JB ROMs (CM10.1, ViperS 3.1.2) it was just fluid.... are you sure you flashed your devices correctly? Because for me it is awesome.
I've a good experience with JB with viper. With a moderate use I have 1,5 days of battery life and a more smooth experience than ICS or GB.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda app-developers app
I didn't use GB for long on mine but I found ICS incredibly fast and stable, never had a lot of problems with it. Even now I have my S4 I still flash new ROMs onto it and I keep going back to ICS, specifically HNS ROM.
Having latest CM and stuff is cool but because I'm out at work all day I prefer stability over speed and new features.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Only reason why GB seems fast because it's less resource intensive, ics and jb are more ram intensive and thus less free space for apps
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
For some reason the stock RUU (ICS) seems a lot slower to me too.
But on the other hand, the custom ICS ROMS are considerably better.
For me jb is the smoothest one. Project butter does its job. Plus it is the least battery consuming one. (Viper3.1.2)
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda app-developers app
I've made the experience that cm, beginning from cm9 to cm10.2, ran and still runs very fast and smooth with very little lags. With sense roms (3.6, 4.1,4+) i often had lags. But on the other hand since arhd reached v7.3 it became very fast but unfortunately less stable (some reboots).
Can't agree with this. Sense 4+ is extremely smooth and blazing fast on the Sensation.

Try multitasking without swap and messing with OOM values. You'll start seeing lag everywhere because the sensation is bottlenecked by only having 768mb of RAM

This is what I have noticed, It does 1 thing at a time blazing fast but have something running in the back round such as apps updating and it stutters all over the place.
