You guys and girls know the deal...dont have time for a big post.
Radio issue fixed with some other improvements
Can you be a bit more precise in the exact changes?
Is there going to be an easy way to upgrade I hopes? :s
I'm running 1.0 now and absolutely LOVE it. The Dialer issue is a bit obnoxious, but workable. I just hope I don't have to completely re-flash and start over... again.
@librarat - Agreed. I was literally about to flash 1.0 and saw this was available. I'd hate to have to set up everything all over again. A simpler upgrade would be much appreciated.
is this a wipe or non wipe?
Feedback
Has anyone installed yet and tested? Feedback and thoughts? Just trying to get a feel before I put it on the D2. Thanks
According to the X forums, its a flashover, not a full reeflash. A dev response would be appreciated, though.
I just 1.0 werkin' and don't want to start all over again.

Is 1.1 a full ROM, that can be installed standalone, or do we need to start with 1.0 and then go up to 1.1? Just a sanity check
My guess would be, that it is a full ROM. But, alas, I will wait for some more information on this ROM before I flash over 1.0.

BACKUP your phone using Bootstrap before installing any ROMs so you can go back to your current setup if anything fails. Notice I said that TWICE!!!
1. Download and place ROM on SD Card
2. Open Bootstrap and tap Bootstrap Recovery
3. Reboot into Recovery
4. Create Backup
5. Mount System
6. Wipe Cache -You may choose not to wipe but MAY have problems
7. Wipe Data - You may choose not to wipe but MAY have problems
8. Mount System and Data - Yes double check that both are MOUNTED (Reads UNMOUNT when MOUNTED)
9. Install Zip from SD Card
10. Choose Zip from SD Card
11. Select your ROM
12. Yes - Install
13. Wipe Cache Again - You may choose not to wipe but MAY have problems
14. Wipe Data Again - You may choose not to wipe but MAY have problems
15. Perform a Factory Reset through Android - Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset. Wiping Cache and Data from recovery is not enough.
16. Reboot
17. Enjoy!

You also have to be rooted and have installed Koush's recovery bootstraper, which can be had either in the market for a donation or from here http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/08/droid-x-recovery.html. For root instructions, see the stickied threads about rooting

+1. Thanks for the assistance post with this. Mike, I would recommend searching the forums for topics such as these as there are multiple topics that are already available with detailed explanations.
I know how to do a full install, i'm running fission 1.0. I thought there might be a way to "flash" the update without having start over. I just dont feel like doing a full wipe again.
When I installed 1.0 and went to my downloads in the market there were only a handful in the list. I had to try to remember all the apps I had downloaded and manually find them and download them. I have just today gotten things back to normal.
I don't want to have to go thru this every couple days after some minor updates. I'm really liking fission 1.0

These are full flashes from what I can see and you will have to do it this way each time. If you download the app through the market, the market will restore your apps after you sign into your gmail.

I understand where he was coming from. It happened to me when I flashed 1.1 coming from what I had. The market only restored about 65% of the apps I had installed. What people need to download is Titanium Backup. Its probably the main app any rooted phone should have installed. You can set a schedule to backup apps and their data daily (or however often you want); when you restore Titanium Backup after flashing a new ROM all you have to do is a "batch" and tell it what you want it to restore and it will restore everything for you. For example; I have HandcentSMS, with custom settings and it restores the app and all its settings.
Its a very helpful app to have

I'm pretty sure on either the Alpha, Beta, or RC1 posts for Fission they said not to use Titanium (or any other backup program) when going from any other ROM to Fission. Would imagine though that going from 1.0 to 1.1 titanium would work just fine though.

Good point. +1 for now.
I really need to be able to post in the development section but sadly this forum doesn't allow it for noobs.
I did the following:
Flashed the LBC Wipe zip
Flashed LBC 0.6
Ran through the setup procedure
Ran Titanium Backup to restore previous apps
Flashed Sense 3 3D launcher
After than the phone gets stuck at the green android animation. If i press the power button it will do the CRT animation and turn the screen off. Likewise if I press it again i see the CRT animation on the android animation comes back.
This suggests that the phone is trying to load sense but is getting stuck. Can someone raise the question for the correct order to install it in the development section?
Thankfully I have managed to restore back to base LBC 0.6 so it isn't an urgent matter.
Thanks.
Another thing i noticed is that when I run the Market for the first time, it seems to automatically install a number of apps that have been removed from this rom such as maps.
Is there any way to stop it from happening?

Google backups and synchronises settings (including apps) to your Google account. Whenever I add a Google account in a fresh ROM it also starts downloading the apps I've previously had. There should be an option to disable this in settings. If I remember correctly, you can choose this during the initial setup.

(Opps, Must add that if you use EXT4 recovery and the associated APK recently released then remove the APK for it from the LBC v0.6.0 ZIP file and ensure that you un-install the program (not recovery) from your v0.5.4 system once you've restored it as the program was going through several pre beta releases and fails to upgrade after v0.6.0 install otherwise).
I detailed my install order HERE. Now if you don't have a v0.5.4 backup, I'd say simply run a full wipe and then proceed in the order that I did.
Even though my stages above don't mention the 3d rosie that's as I personally don't like it, but don't fear I did try it. I followed the steps above, then rebooted the device , setup as per normal then rebooted back to RECOVERY took a backup..(as didn't want to go through that process again!) and then flashed the 3D Launcher.ZIP to try it out - which I did but choose to revert to the backup as it wasn't for me!
Good luck.

That's why personalize doesn't work. Already tried it on my own (a couple of weeks ago) by freezing up HTC Sense from Titanium and observing the behavior. Currently we're having too many dependencies between HTC Sense and other apps/widgets.
thats right, sense is such a pain. thats the reason why i removed it.
rom is still stable on day four without sense. everything works fine so far.

Could be a behavior of the missing HTC Sense (haven't checked it yet).
My Rom available is shrinking all the time, now only 45mb.
Not put anything extra on since it was over 70!
Anything above 20 is better than out of the box tho.
Anyone else's Rom getting smaller with everyday use?

Remember to do factory reset data and move apps to SD card. I'm running on stock, I have 60 MB free and a lot of apps.
i tried the factory reset, all it did was (surprise surprise!) reset everything back to square one.
had to reinstall all the apps, password, wifi - all of it!
in the guide you indicate they will all be there but as its a reset, how can they be?
Did you have your gmail account setup for your phone? Also were your backup and restore settings activated? (They are activated by default).
The thing is this works like this:
You setup your gmail account.
You download apps & stuff.
You sync your Gmail account with backup and restore activated.
When you do a factory rest and re-sync again, all your apps start downloading again.
forgot to say (no excuse, sorry)
thanks freakysands for the rom!
trying 1.4 right now
hmm, some of my apps are acquired from non market sources maybe thats it
thanks Alex, i'll try again
1.4 market keeps fc
shame tho, looks nice!
market with fc???
how did you flash the rom?
4. wipe data/factory reset
5. wipe cache partition
6. choose advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
did you perform point 4-6?
I did indeed, most odd,
I tried 3 of the sources too, do you have the md5 sum maybe please?
Your ROM looks most suited for me too, so I'll keep trying!

Occurs due to the same contact featuring in multiple accounts that are being synced on Android, which leads to a conflict.
Factory data reset should fix this problem. (not tested)
partition issue and link2sd
Dear all:
I partitioned my 16GB card into three partitions
primary: 11.x GB FAT32
primary: 0.87 GB ext3
primary: 0.38 GB linux-swap
For some reason, Link2SD couldn't mount my ext3 partition. (it kept saying it's not mounted)
any idea why this is the case?
I use Gparted software on my Desktop Linux to partition my SD card. In the past (HTC Leo with Android ROM), I never had any issue with this kind of set up.
any help / idea on where went wrong really appreciated.

So, I put together a couple of flashable zips for use on a stock phone. I've been using these for a little while now, and feel comfortable enough about them working to share.
Basically it just removes a bunch of stuff that comes pre-installed on your phone, and replaces your stock Sense launcher with either the stock Gingerbread launcher or Go Launcher EX.
I personally like GO the best out of all the launchers available, but until I had this phone I didn't have a piece of hardware capable of using GO to it's fullest. Now that I can, I love it.
Special thanks goes out to:
Undeadk9 for compiling the stock Gingerbread apps from Google.
computerkid23 for letting me use his update-binary file & market version.
*These mods are mostly just working examples. Someone will probably find them useful, I do, but they were primarily posted to support my info thread on edify scripting notes.
*We can see that these actions can be accomplished in a small enough file to be posted to the board as an attachment, yet this also means we rely on the user's stock software being intact.
*If someone has already removed an app, these zips will not replace them. Exception being launcher, calculator, music and if Mod02 then the market as well.
*If something has already been deleted, then it just gets ignored when the script gets to it. It won't throw an error if it tries to delete something that's not there.
On to the description of what's being done:
Here's what's removed:
-Themes, Live wallpapers
-Widgets:
Both tips widgets, all the widgets that don't work when you stop using the sense launcher.
Calculator, calendar, mail, photogrid, photo widget, setup widget and weather widget.
-Following apps:
AppSharing, Adobe Reader, Android Notes, Bejeweled, doubletwist, Flickr, Friendstream, Facebook, Picasa, Netflix, Slacker Radio, Swype, Twitter, Zinio.
-And:
Mail, Media Room, HTC Setup Wizard, Car Home, HTC Music + Enhancer, Google quick search box.
-Also:
T-Mobile TV, Name ID, App-Pack, Mobile Backup, T-Mobile Carbon Backup, Qik (video chat), Tmobile Navigator.
Click to collapse
What's replaced:
-Calculator...broken stock calculator replaced with the gingerbread calculator.
-Music - replaced with the stock gingerbread music app.
Click to collapse
The only difference between the two flashable zips:
In Mod 01:
-Sense launcher replaced with the stock Gingerbread launcher...keeps the stock market.
In Mod 02:
-Sense launcher replaced with GO Launcher EX, computerkid23 market replaces the stock version.
You still keep the T-Mobile "My account" app, the stock weather app, and a handful of other thngs:
-Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Flashlight, FM Radio, Gallery, GMail, Messages, Phone, polaris Office, Quick Lookup, Voice recorder and search, Weather, Wifi calling, wifi hotspot and youtube.
All stock TV connection software is still good and ready, as well as the stock browser.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Pre-requisits:
-Stock phone, no custom ROMs
-Clockworkmod 4.0.0.9
-Clockworkmod backup of your phone before flashing this zip
-Backup of any user data, such as phone numbers or notes
-Fully charged battery.
-Download and put in the main directory of your sdcard:
+ Blue6IX_Mod01 -or- Blue6IX_Mod02
To install:
-Un-plug the phone from any chargers or cables
-Reboot to recovery
-Select 'install zip from sdcard'
-Select 'choose zip from sdcard'
-Select 'Blue6IX_Mod01.zip' (( or Mod02 if thats what you downloaded ))
-Select 'Yes - Install Blue6IX_Mod01.zip'
-Press the hardware back button to get back to the main CWM menu
-Select 'reboot system now'
-IMPORTANT LAST STEP:
-Leave the phone alone for 5 minutes after it finishes booting up. Don't play with it or make it do anything, just let it sit and settle.
It's still building the data partition and re-writing your cache memory, if you play with it before this finishes you could get errors down the line. You won't see all this happening, so just be patient and wait a few minutes.
...and that's it. All done.
-ONE LAST NOTE:
* The clockworkmod backup of your data is important, as this installation file will simulate a factory reset during it's execution. This means any data that's on the phone will be wiped clean, so if you don't back it up before you start you will lose it.
Enjoy!
Reserved in case I need it.
Meantime, i'd like to say thank you to all the people working so hard to develop ROMs and software for our phone.

However when I try to install, I get 'Application not installed'

I like to know things, just to know how they are done too - so I can appreciate the sentiment of wanting to know even if just for being curious.
I don't like having google talk on my phone either - but you will find that you need it to show certain apps in the google market.
You mentioned you had root explorer, which is awesome. If there was one tool you needed to pay for to really work with your phone on your phone, that is it.
Since I know you can follow along, let's look at what it takes to get rid of Gtalk.
First you have to know what the .apk file is, if it has an .odex file, and where the data directory is. Check my Reference to find that out.
Here is the entry for Google Talk:
Talk
Version: 1.3
983.17KB - /system/app/Talk.apk
/data/data/com.google.android.talk
Click to collapse
So we can see one .apk file, no .odex file, and one data directory.
1 - Kick up root explorer on your phone and go to /system/app and delete Talk.apk
2 - Still in root explorer, navigate to /data/data and find the folder named com.google.android.talk - delete this folder.
3 - Reboot phone into recovery mode. Once in clockworkmod:
4 - Clear cache from the main CWM menu, by selecting 'wipe cache partition' and then saying yes on the next page.
5 - Clear dalvik-cache. From the main CWM menu choose 'advanced' then 'wipe dalvik cache' then 'yes'. After it's done, hit back then 'reboot system now' from the main cwm menu.
That should be it and talk is now removed from your device.
To re-install Talk:
I attached a copy of the stock talk.apk - if you want to re-install it and were having trouble, try it this way:
1 - Download the attachment to this post, get it on your phone.
2 - Open root explorer, find Talk.apk and copy it. Paste it into /system/app
3 - Once Talk.apk is in /system/app, in root explorer long-press on it to get a menu of options. Choose permissions.
4 - Change the permissions to read:
-Owner - Checked boxes = Read + Write
-Group - Checked box = Read
-Others - Checked box = Read
-Bottom row of permissions all unchecked.
After hitting "ok" you should see that the Talk.apk permissions look like all the other files in /system/app, where it says rw-r--r-- under the file name.
5 - Exit root explorer, then reboot your phone into recovery mode.
6 - Clear cache from the main CWM menu, by selecting 'wipe cache partition' and then saying yes on the next page.
7 - Clear dalvik-cache. From the main CWM menu choose 'advanced' then 'wipe dalvik cache' then 'yes'. After it's done, hit back then 'reboot system now' from the main cwm menu.
That's it, you now have Talk re-installed on your phone.
You won't be able to find google talk on the market, even if you log in from a computer and aren't signed in to an account.
Let me know if that's what you needed, or if you have any other questions.
I want to use this but im having hell getting these 4.0.0.9 line commands to work. Ive tried everything line for line but no success. any suggestions?
p.s the recovery image has .img at the end and i copied it from sd card to data/local.

You missing or mistyping something somewhere. I worked for me the first time. Are you sure you have root access.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
Hi All,
I seriously read all 17 pages of SAUROM's Dev page and only found 1 other use having this issue but post has no response:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20344195&postcount=31
I also searched and most people have somewhat similar issues but not like mine where it works first time fine then upon reboot Apps disappear.
I've rooted my Infuse a long time ago and have been ROM'ing it for several months now. I've changed several ROMs and some have lots of pieces I love but has issues with something I really need (like bluetooth).
So I gave SAUROM 'One rom to rule em all' a shot. I actually really am impressed upon initial Flash. I made lots of changes, and then lost root/SU, then found SU-fix and applied. It worked for about one day then when I reboot my Apps (including Market) were dimmed-out. So I tried to search but no decent threads.
I thought perhaps another Flash of the ROM would fix, but same issue, then thought perhaps a kernel change so I did that too.
But I just did it again and during first boot everything looks good, I make changes add my gmail acct, use some Apps (actually last time I used Supercharger and installed busybox) but even prior to this it was doing the same thing. Then thinking perhaps it might have fixed it, rebooted and still same thing.
Is there any *.zip or setting that perhaps I can check to fix this? Some script that may help to check where this issue lies? How about fstab file that I can check and edit to fix this??
This happens every time I reboot! I installed apps last night and actually held off posting this, then this morning I rebooted and Apps disappear again (even Play Store).

Hi All,
I seriously read all 17 pages of SAUROM's Dev page and only found 1 other use having this issue but post has no response:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20344195&postcount=31

First thanks for the response bigfau!
I have checked this to see if this option would be a good way to resolve my issue but weird thing is that these dimmed-out apps that appear to be on my sdcard actually go away. If they were truly installed on sdcard like SS above says, then I should be able to:
Go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > On SD Card >
Select App > "Move to phone" but they're not there, only XDA Premium . (attached SS)
After a reboot, I have to go to My Files, App_Manager > App_Backup > user_apps > Re-install My Apps again. But any reboot puts me back at square one.
1. Uninstall and install your launcher app (don't restore)
2. Wipe your dalvik cache (if rooted)
Try this and let me know if that helps.

*Thanks, your response makes sense as I remember TWLauncher errors with this ROM and think yes my Launcher is the culprit.
Ive been trying to Uninstall and install a launcher (which I thought would be relatively simple).
1. I downloaded/installed 2 different Launchers (Launcher Pro & Go Launcher Ex) from Play Store.
2. Downloaded TW4Manager.apk, tw4key.zip, and ShareApp.apk (for TWLauncer 4.5).
3. Moved TouchWiz30Launcher.apk out of system/apps/ and backed up *just in case*, then rebooted into Recovery and Wiped Dalvik Cache.
When it was booting, it stayed on the Galaxy S boot animation screen for the longest and never booted.
I decided to attempt to Flash Saurom again, (wipe user data, which cache, wipe Dalvik Cache, install ROM zip) and I'm trying again.
But seems like I got some weird chicken/egg thing going on. I can only install apps while booted or phone is on.
Did i do something incorrect?

Isn't this how it works? I am not sure how you would install apps when the phone is turned off? Or do you mean screen on?

Hi diablo009,
Sorry what I was referring to was that it seems yes I can install Apps while phone is on, but they're only available during that time (after installed). Its like they are in RAM and lose them if I shutdown or reboot.
I'm sure it's not the ROM I used as stated in the Title because I've recently done lots of testing on my phone. I again Re-flashed the ROM again doing:
1. Wipe user data/wipe cache/wipe dalvik cache, install ROM .zip.
2. Run Su-fix su-3.0.5-efgh-signed.zip
*Ive tried this with and without reboot in between 1 & 2.
Still same symptoms, loads first time fine. Runs setup, is rooted, can install Apps, then upon reboot they're gone.
So I said okay let's test out another ROM to see if same results, and so yesterday I changed to GamerzRom v8.1, then upped to 9.0 and same results with Apps.
I've used different kernel's (DD_03042012.zip & kernel-2011-11-27.12-40.zip), used diff ROMs, and have also attempted to get back to Stock either by using:
-SGH-I997_UCLB3_INFUSE.zip (I guess this is Stock with Root & couple more things)
-Get back to Stock ROM by using Download-Mode and SGH-i997-UCKJ4-One-Click.jar
After either of these, attempt to re-flash and see if problems go away but they haven't.
Weird thing is sometimes I lose SU/Root sometimes I don't. I'm sure it's something I've done to my phone or the filesystem which is why I'd like to be able to check it out, like fstab, mtab (if there's one), permissions or something else but I'm not sure what to look for =/
Thoughts or other areas I can check?
A checklist would be awesome right now if I could find one....
Backup the data you have on your internal/external SD cards, and format them please. And try to install an app, reboot, and let me know if the issue is still present.
SD
I had the same issue. I blamed it on a bad SD card. I removed the SD card all together and never had the problem since. I only had the stock 2gb card in there so it was not worth the hassle.

This is what even I am suspecting now. So only wanted him to format both internal and external. And this one reason I recommend no less than class 6 cards for phones, preferably class 10.
---------- Post added at 04:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 PM ----------
1. Clean wipe and ROM install
2. Clean wipe with a different ROM
3. Clear dalvik cache and cache
4. Wipe data for launcher
5. Fresh install of launcher
6. Fresh install of apps and no restoring with TiBu
7. Formatting internal and external memory
8. Take out external memory
9. Change external SD card
There's your checklist, as far as I can think of. And I have marked in green the options you said you have tried.
Hi, you just have to replace the file vold. Fstab and place it on /system /etc
Pm with your mail and I will send to you b/c I have it with me but don't know how to upload here
The file is suppose to say that the apps must stay on the sdcard..
Qkster explain that to me very well, if I were you, I look in his roms thread..
Let me see

Okay glad to report this has helped me! Not sure if the scard (internal/external) was bad or getting full or what but here's what I did:
1. Copied all my data (sdcard [int/ext]) to PC.
2. Format scard: Settings > SD Card/Storage > Unmount SD Card > Format
*Did this for both SDCard & USB Storage
Result in "Lady voice on partioning boot mesg, (basically inoperable phone).
*My fault because I didn't need to do USB storage? Should I have done both SDCard & USB Storage? Either way I think i wanted to restart from scratch with factory type reset/stock ROM.
3. Boot Download-Mode and ROM using: SGH-i997-UCKJ4-One-Click.jar
4. Root phone and tried to Re-flash with custom ROM (Saurom) but need CWM recovery. CWM was in blue-mode, needed Green or Red to flash ROM.
5. Downloading SGS Kernel flasher and flashing it with Entropy's DD
For this I used: DD_03042012.zip, but for me I noticed Market and Maps were "dimmed" out and thought I'm back to square one!
Dunno if this was coincidence or something I did to cause this or what but I think it's important to note because issue seemed to reappear.
I changed the kernel to: kernel-2011-11-27.12-40.zip and dimmed Market/Maps went away.
6. Booted in Recovery, wipe user data/wipe cache/ wipe Dalvik cache, Flash ROM: JVU[2.3.6] SAUROM
7. Booted up, went through SetupWizard, then realized lost Root.
8. Run Su-fix su-3.0.5-efgh-signed.zip
9. Boot phone, verified Root, installed some Apps, and rebooted & Power-Off over 10 times.
All looks good now!
So far its looking like my issue went away!
@OP: This happens many times when the android data files on the external SD get corrupted. And happy to know your issue is resolved
