you had one cute sales person. first off I would call verizon and complain about him about not giving you the right info.
If you look you will see there are 2 data plans. one for the $30 and one for $50.
if you don't want to call verizon and complain ( which I would and would hold out for them to give you something in return) just log in on line and make the change to the $30 plan. you'll be fine

They told me I could not get a 1 year contract through a VZW store.

I got mine retail price and kept my $30/mo data.

you guys are friggin awesome just called verizon and the guy was shocked and said there's no such thing as a $50.00 plan and changed it to the $30.00 a month plan!

Thunderbolt envy

I went to the Verizon store today thinking that I would trade up on my HTC Incredible only to find out that Verizon got rid of the upgrade anytime ability. They said I could get a Thunderbolt, but it would cost me $600.
Oh how nice it would be to have a Thunderbolt. Anyone have any ideas to fight this with Verizon?

He would have to activate the "lost" phone to even get a SIM card, which wouldn't happen because the IMEI would already be flagged. Since this is Verizon's only 4G device, how would he go about getting a SIM card? The SIM cards are useless once they've been activated on an account and then replaced with a new one, so using the other person's old one isn't an option.

Actually if he found someone to do the lost phone deal. he could then go buy the cheapest sim-based phone outright,have it set to his account then take the sim card and put it in the t.
But the cheapest one i think is about 200.00 plus any changes it does to the contract (if any) and the at least 90.00 cost for the t's replacement. would end up costing over half the cost of the t and that's only if he gets lucky on the cost of the t

How do you then get a 4G SIM? Verizon's only other SIM based devices are all 3G "world phones" that I'm pretty sure only use the SIM cards when not in the US. Verizon's not gonna say "oh, sure, you want a 4G SIM for your Blackberry.. no problem". Unless, of course, he just never wanted to utilize LTE. I don't know enough about Verizon to be certain, but was an AT&T Mobility Resolution Specialist for a while.. and what you're suggesting would definitely not work with AT&T(given the same conditions of them only having 1 device using the new network). However, how much is an outright USB 4G Modem? NVM, that would not include voice plans, and they'd know something was up when he tried to add one to a modem LOL.. seriously, I dunno if this is possible. Even if it was, would possibly just be easier to save for a bit and just buy the phone.

You are confusing gsm and lte. They arebnot the same. DON'T DO IT! won't get you anywhere + it's insurance fraud.
Could maybe add a line to your acct. Essentially paying $240 over the course of your contract plus $250 for the phone... It's a little cheaper.

Ad a line to ur account assuming ur on a family share plan and don't already have five lines. Ull pay ten extra dollars a month then have to do a device change from one mtn to another.

Buy a phone off craigslist or ebay and then sell your Incredible. I got $170 for my Inc with ebay's buy back program. I bought my TB off ebay for $500.

You can normally talk people down a bit on CL too. So if you sell your phone for almost $200.. you're really only paying $300 for the phone which isn't bad at all with no contract!

I am not an attorney ... but this seems like quite a fraud. You have to ask (and convince) a 'friend' to lie that they lost their phone. Then you have to lie during the activation process. Seems like a heck of a conspiracy for a few hundred dollars. I would NEVER ask a friend to participate in this type of scam.
On the other hand ... I 'lost' my Thunderbolt.

amazon wireless is selling it for $179.00 and you don't need a mail in rebate for that price. This price is for upgrades and new plans. Just thought I would share that. I personally hate mail in rebates. Oh, and also free two day shipping and no sales tax. So yeah.

Amazon is listing it as back ordered. FYI...you will pay an ETF of $150 with Amazon if you cancel your account within 180 days. That's on top of T-Mobile's $200.

That shouldn't matter unless someone doesn't want to stick with their plan. I've been with t-mo forever and am not leaving until ATT devours up my contract. Sucks that's they're sold out, but it gives me time to sell my other phones so that I can buy it.

Is this available to upgrades as well? (People who have recently completed a 2-year contract.)
Can you keep a grandfathered plan (myFaves) or does it make you sign up for one of the new standardized plans?

Verizon Early Termination Fee is $175 - Stick it to the man

Verizon has made a critical error in giving us our phones. They made the contract early termination fee dependent on the device being on the advanced devices list, but then forgot to put it on. That means that the early termination fee is $175 not $350.
So I say...cancel your phone. Put it on ebay. Buy another. Make sure they know it's because of the locked bootloader. Make them hurt. And go buy a developer edition off contract.
Here is the advanced devices list. www.verizonwireless.com/advanceddevices and the SGS III is not on there.

I don't know about anyone else but my receipt for my pre-order phone shows an ETF of $0. That certainly falls within the phrasing of "up to $175" or "up to $350" which I believe is what one agrees to when signing the new contract.

While no one devs for the developer edition? I'm not going out and wasting that much on a cellphone and most wont.

I'm not returning mine but I'd just call and refuse to pay that they miss-sold us and did not notate any differentiation from the Galaxy S3 experience.

Does anyone have a new customer agreement in their "My Documents and Receipts" area?
I do not. I have my previous agreement, which expires 7/6/12. I also have an equipment upgrade document for the S3 which specifies an ETF of up to $175, but has a disclaimer stating in case of an error, my customer agreement will govern over that document.
Did anyone get a new customer agreement in that section, maybe it isn't available until the first bill after the upgrade.
For the record, despite the GNex not being on that document, my customer agreement for when I purchased that phone states an ETF of up to $350.

Verizon's etf on sgs 3 is 350. I just checked a handful of my customers accounts(I work for Verizon) and they all said 350 for termination fee. I've seen Verizon do worse though

Mate, here in Oz when you buy a phone they give you the phone, box and accessories in the box. That's it.
I've read that in the states they have a certain time to use the phone and if they don't like it take it back and swap for another. I've had a DOA phone before that I had to almost fight the store personel to replace and it was under a day old.. Occasionally a bone is thrown our way , like buy the SG Note 3 and get the Galaxy gear for $100 off, but honestly this is pitiful as I have to throw a couple hundred in to redeem. This offer is given with no commitment to pay for anything else.
This is lousy service from Samsung to favour 1 country over all others. My money is just as valuable to me as anyone else and it REALLY bites when I am subsidising another countries purchase price and promotions and getting d!ck back....

Its unfair to some other country Note 3 user as we did not get $50 Google play store voucher :crying:
