Your favorite keyboard? - Android Apps and Games

I love using smart keyboatd pro, but I'm using swype right now.

My favorite keyboard is the swype keyboard

Swiftkey, the new beta is even better.

Portrait swype
Landscape gingerbread

I was digging the gingerbread keyboard, too.

Swype has been my favorite. Typing is lighting quick!

SwiftKey is so good it's the first app I ever felt like I needed so bad I had to purchase it.

swype is king for me...just wish I could theme it.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App

Swype for me. Just blows away every other keyboard in terms of speed. Works great in portrait mode even with my clumsy fingers.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Gingerbread keyboard all the way ... I fail at swype for some reason.

HTC_IME themed for portrait, Thumb Keyboard for landscape.

A mixture of Swype and SwiftKey, although always SwiftKey while in Landscape.

I'll admit that when I first tried swype I wasn't a huge fan, but I gave it a chance and now I find that I can't live without it!

Swype is great in portrait mode but in Landscape nothing beats SwiftKey. The predictions are in amazingly accurate.

Easy one: Thumb Keyboard

loving the 2.3 Gingerbread keyboard. lol, but i feel stupid, i wanna give Swype a chance finally, but do i get it on the market? it doesn't show up...

Ive tried many k/b's over the years, on the windows platform as well.
Swiftkey is quite good, Touchpal was great on Windows and as many have mentioned Swype is good but on the Android platform, esp the more recent 2.15 version, its not as accurate as it used to be especially when you swype fast.
I find Slideit v3.0 much faster. On windows. Swype was much better but on Android, Slideit is more accurate, you dont have to bother with double circling for double letters and there are more languages supported etc. The cool feature i like about it is it can learn abbreviations not just words so you can slide the letters eml for instance and this can be your email address etc. Also like the suggested words appear on top of the keyboard in a single line for easier faster tapping like most keyboards, why Swpye insist on having it above in some floating section beats the hell out of me lol.
v3.0 also allows you to slide and tap during words. ie/ for the word accommodation or whatever, you can slide accom and then tap the rest and vice versa.
Downside is Slideit looks boring, i dont think they have ever released a new skin lol.
Not affiliated with any keyboard blah blah, just my opinion.

I can't do **** with swype either

On DroidX its Gingerbread KB with Blue mod, for Tab its thumbs KB for landscape. The 7" tablet KB is awesome, splits the KB for the larger screen.

For things like text messages i love swype. For Apps like ConnectBot i prefer Hacker's Keyboard.

What is the perfect keyboard?

I've tried them all stock, SwiftKey, swype, SwiftKey x beta, smart, better keyboard, an all are mediocre. Does anyone have a really good keyboard? It seems that wp7 and apple hav flawless keyboards right now and its upsetting android is letting me down with quality.
Edit: notice how the spelling isn't even perfect when making the thread. (using SwiftKey x beta)

After getting used to it, the stock gingerbread has quickly become my favorite onscreen keyboard. I've used them all and I like Swype and Swiftkey as well, but I really dig the speed of the gingerbread keyboard. It's a personal choice of course, I hope you find your perfect keyboard!
Sometimes I find it hard to click on the right letter, but the stock keyboard is indeed the most responsive you will find.
Ultra keyboard also seemed ok to me, very customizable and has a tool bar on top of it that offers quick acces to basic actions like copy, paste, cut, settings etc from a single touch. It also supports gestures. I really enjoyed typing on it but it has this small issue that was a deal breaker for me: typing on the enter button requires a small pause to be clickable, I think the space button as well. I think its there to prevent accidental typing on them while you are typing words, but it really pissed me off.
The keyboard from HTC Sense also seemed to be very ok, I found it to be the most accurate on suggesting words, just google HTC_IME mod and give it a try.
Other then that they are all the same for me, except that the stock GB keyboard is definitely the most responsive one.
Swype and swiftkey are a no-no for me, people just think they are faster but its just a new type of typing, something new. Typing with 2 thumbs is much faster then swyping with 1.
I tried Swift Key and Swype, nothing beats the stock keyboard, really zippy
Tried everything. Stock is the best, except for the occasional ddouble lletters.

SwiftKey ftw!

I have tried a few also. Ever since gingerbread keyboard on the market came out it been my favorite. Don't see what's great about iPhone / windows keyboards? Same stuff.
My one gripe is the android keyboard sound. I hate it. I know better keyboard has the iPhone sound which is much better.
I'm using the gingerbread keyboard. I think is the best for fast typing...
thanks for all the responses and after fast texting with all the keyboards I find stock to be the fastest but it does still have some bugs like the double letters idk if any of you have experienced that but hopefully ice cream sandwich fixes that! (if we even get it haha)

try it slide keyboard
Smart Keyboard Pro
Stock gingerbread is the best then the 2 best would have to be
HTC sense
I used to use stock Keyboard only
But one day Amazon App Store gave away Flex t9 keyboard app for free and I've been using it ever since.
You guys should all try it, I fell in love.
on an interesting side note, Nuance is the developer of the keyboard which is a company in which apple is interested in acquiring. not that I favor apple, but shows the quality of what this keyboard can be.
It's like swype + swiftkey put together
I just had to mention it since I guess I saw nobody else did.

HTC keyboard

What do you guys think of HTC's take on Swype? Personally I hate it, doesn't seem to guess words right....
I just downloaded Swype Beta from the website, it works so much better!!!
I believe the beta is still open to all who sign up, so if you guys are looking for an alternative check it out!
The problem is with the swype keyboard is if you don't want to swype, the keyboard sucks

Not anymore, now it has the horizontal word choice window just like other keyboards (with auto correct)... so you can swipe or tap as you like.
The ultimate keyboard would be if SwiftKey and Swype had a love child....

Best keyboard app

What's the best keyboard app (best meaning least amount of bugs and no complaints) specifically for the G2X?
To be honest man i say just stick to the stock keyboard. I've tried several on the Market and well i just don't see what the big hype is. It lags, it misspells, and they try to add like all these feautures that just causes you to misspell things and all that good stuff...
i say stock
I'm not a huge Swype fan so I've been looking around at different keyboards to make my typing more comfortable. I'm currently settled on the TouchPal keyboard. I loved this keyboard back in my WM6.0 days with my HTC Touch and I do enjoy the new version they have updated for Android.
A classic one I always trust is Smart Keyboard Pro.
It'll cost you a pretty penny, but it does its job very well.
It's a classic tap-tap-tap keyboard (meaning, no fancy swiping).
It looks great, it sounds great, it is great.
Customizable sound setting: iPhone / Android / Galaxy
Very customizable, and has many languages available.

Agreed! I'm using this one myself. You can get the free version in the market and test it out!
I really like Smart Keyboard pro. But I've just started using the free gingerbread keyboard on the market, very responsive and fast
Im a HUGE fan of swiftkey's new beta, SwiftKey X. Responsive, good prediction, and easy on memory.
How is 32 mb easy on the memory compared to the 5 or 10 mb from others?

Ill have to agree..stock is always the stable way to go

I've been using SwiftKey, it's such an awesome keyboard that saves you a lot of touches. It's prediction of the next word is really good, definitely my go to. You have to force yourself to use it for like two days before you get the hang of it
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
i gotta second Swiftkey or Swiftkey X worth the price of admission!
Smart keyboard!
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
+1 for SwiftKey
I also have to recommend Swiftkey. I've used the Froyo, the Gingerbread, Better Keyboard (both versions), and Swype. Hands down, Swiftkey is the best simply because it remembers your past conversations and predicts what you are about to say before you say it. Hell, it practically tells you what say! I love it.
I've purchased and used Smart Keyboard Pro for months, but now use Hacker's Keyboard from the Market on my G2x and ASUS Transformer. I use ConnectBot frequently and need Ctl/Alt/Esc keys.
+1 for swiftkey
Also before you buy this app make sure you have alot of text messages on your phone. The more the better...reaosn is because swiftkey reads and learns your typing pattern for word prediction.
I use better keyboard 8, i like it because i can make it take up more of the screen so the keys are bigger but i would like to see someone port the new htc trace that comes with the sensation since i like htc ime and its basically htc ime but u can also use it like swype
Do you want your keyboard to focus on stability/accuracy, typing speed, or breath of features?
If you want stability, use stock.
If you want speed, use Swype.
If you want features, use Swiftkey.
Me, I use Keyboard Manager so when I'm in portrait I have Swype and when I'm in landscape I have Stock. I'd rather use Swiftkey in landscape, but swiftkey and keyboard manager don't play well together.
Stock Gingerbread keyboard ...

Keyboards for the Sensation

Hello all,
Is their a better keyboard for this phone? I really dont like the ones it comes with. Also what about the spell checker? Is that part of the keyboard program?
What ones are you using?
Thanks
join the swype beta.

Once you go Swype, you never go back.
If you don't like Swype style, try the Gingerbread keyboard on the Market.
Smart keyboard

I've always liked the Gingerbread kb! But, Smart is also cool...
I only use swype when I only have 1 hand available, but I mainly use gingerbread keyboard pro from market cause I can make the spacebar super big on it (I normally miss it when it's small lol)

Is there a keyboard where you could turn the phone sideway and it shows you the keyboard as well as the screen? I don't like how it only shows you the keyboard.

Better Keyboard 8. I previously used it with the I/O skin & it could splitscreen.
Smart Keyboard FTW.

I tried all the rest, used Swype for a year, then switched to SwiftKey. Best keyboard hands down. You won't regret it. Free beta on the market.

For me and for now I use the flext9, which is powered by dragon. But I already paid for it a while ago. But I suggest use what others have already said. Try the beta swype for yourself and see if you like it. I have used swype and would get pissed at it when it got buggy...yes I know its a beta , but I would go to another kb. The GB kb is great for a plain jane kb, also, swiftkey X beta works well too.
If I were you, I would try all the free versions of kbs, starting with the most popular to what you like and narrow it down from there.
Smart Keyboard Pro. I've had it since my Nexus one days, and it's still the best.
Thanks everyone, I will check them all out after work today.
I wouldnt mind also trying a new browser, any suggestions? I know a little bit of whats out there but still learing.
Thanks again everyone.
only swype ... still best //

You would think hTC stock keyboard would have arrows for this mighty screen
Swype FTW I never had a keyboard where I could type that fast.

ive heard a lot of good stuff about swift but i feel like my fingers r to fat for it so i make mad mistakes and i theres no option to turn auto-capitalization off?
SwiftKey is very good at predicting text even with fat fingers
As far as the browser goes, I prefer opera.

A. I. Keyboard

I have used swype, swiftkey, t9, better keyboard, even that ridiculous rotary keyboard.
I am a keyboard geek (among other flavors of geek).
I gotta say, A.I. Type keyboard (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aitype.android) is simply amazing.
It seems smarter than swiftkey and is completely customizable. (Background images, colors, layout, even keyboard type (iphone, windows 7, gingerbread among others).

Not going to lie.. this keyboard seems pretty good.. though not that many people use it. But I think ill stuck wit ny swiftkey x. Because look at that last sentence swiftkey wuloukd have corrected it all..

I have to admit to being a keyboard whore. I have since early 2009 bought almost every keyboard out. I have better keyboard, perfect keyboard, smart keyboard, swiftkey long before it became the X version. I had been using Swiftkey until a few days ago when I tried the latest version of Go Keyboard. The predictions aren't as psychic as swiftkey, but the keying on Go Keyboard is much more accurate for me so I have to depend on correction and prediction a lot less. And, the correction is VERY accurate. As far as the keyboard in the OP, it looks like another gingerbread recompile. What makes it stand out from the crowd?

Duh, you mean 8pen? Hey, it is very fun to use it you know. Except when you slide superfast, people around you think that you're crazy scratching up your own phone. lol

I love that it has themes and different sounds for space, tap, accept. However it doesn't do autotext which I cant function without now nor does it correct conjunctions and the comma is a pain. Promising tho
Loving it so far ..def promising ...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
So far it seems decent. Predictions are good (for both what's currently being typed, as well as guessing the next word) and I like the how the long-press for period brings up the sub-menu of common punctuation keys.
In spite of it not being perfect, AI is certainly a beautiful piece of work.
I have been using it from ages......!!
The best undoubtedly among all
