[Q] Please help me root my xperia x10 mini pro 2.1 update 1 - General Questions and Answers

Hey all, this is a great forum and ive got my phone locked, now ive paid for it to be unlocked and i think its only fair that i can be able to remove the software that comes with the phone from the phone carrier which i dont need: like uno trial, guitar hero trial etc...
So ive heard that i need to root my phone but i am totally unexperient at this as ive never done it before and never had an android phone before so please could someone give me a full step by step guide of what i need to do to root my xperia x10 mini pro android 2.1 update 1? its a great deal for me as not only it should help me remove useless apps that keep installing themselves once i restart the phone but it also helps me install apps on the SD card rather than on the limited 128mb phone internal memory.
Thanks very much in advance!

Questions about rooting and unrooting

Hi.
Couple days ago I got my first Android device - HTC Desire.
Since I rooted my phone hoping that I'll be able to install apps on SD card, and find out that feature is actually expected to be part of Froyo - now I have couple questions about rooting and unrooting.
1. is there a way - other than unrooting phone - to install official HTC 2.2 update when it will be available?
2. will I be able to install new firmwares to rooted phone?
3. If there is the way to update rooted phone, is there a way to "move" installed apps from internal memory to SD card?
4. If I need to unroot the phone, how will I know which RUU should I apply?
I bought mine Desire unlocked at TELE2 carrier in Croatia.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Hopelessly Stuck with 1.6 on SE X10 with At&t

I have a SE Xperia 10 in the US with android 1.6. I want to upgrade desperately to 2.2,etc. All my research shows that I must root the phone with Z4root. Problem is that At&t won't allow me to install the app because it is not in the Market or was not downloaded from the market.
I then learned that sideloading or debranding were possibly my only options for installing apps such as this. Only issue is that I am on a Mac running 10.5.8 and cannot seem to find any thing to assist in this. I have read about the sideload wonder machine, but I cannot find a download for macs.
Has anyone had to go through all this At&t BS and successfully updated their phone without getting into astro-physics? If so I need your help.
Thanks- TheShamel

[Q]

Hello everybody and first of all, forgive me for my English. I am French and I have found no help on the French forums.
Here is my problem : I have an Android Startrail Edition 2.2 (ZTE Blade Gen 2 if I understood correctly) and I wanted to root it, to use Link2SD in particular.
But it is impossible.
I tried the UnlockRoot method and Z4Root method, without success. Each time, everything goes well, the SuperUser application appears but it does not work. And why? Just because my phone is not rooted. When I go into the settings, it is still the original version of ZTE that appears. And apps like CheckRoot tell me it is not rooted. In fact when I do the experiment with Z4Root, once I engaged the TempRoot and I restart the app, I still have the choice to root my phone but don't have the "un-root" option.
In short, it looks like I have a "anti-root" mobile phone
Help me, please, my internal memory overflows
Thank you in advance.

Sony Z5 - rooting/unlocking bootloader/back up of drm keys

Hi XDAers
Can anybody help me out - I have always rooted my phones and after purchasing my Sony Z5 last year I thought by now there would be a relatively easy way of rooting. Apparently I can unlock my bootloader to go to the next step of rooting, however I would lose my drm keys... of which I cannot backup without root!!! Rooting is still blocked because of the locked bootloader. I have recently upgraded to the Android 7 firmware - ugh, I can't stand it and it really messed my phone up - so I want root even more. I'm not hugely techy and I don't feel brave enough to go through a lot of complex downloadin and flashing of different programs etc - but I would really appreciate some advice.
The amount of bloatware on the phone is horrendous and I really miss my Titanium Backup..... is the Sony Z5 a lost cause and is it time for a new phone?? Don't think I would ever go back to a Sony.
Anyway, if anyone has some advice for me I would be really grateful.
Thanks
Jackie
