Gingerbread for XT720 - Milestone XT720 General

I know 2.2 is being worked on by Dexter_nib, but will he try a Gingerbread rom for the XT720? From what I've read is the XT720 was built for 2.3 Gingerbread.

This is extremely unlikely for a lot of reasons - mostly due to a locked bootloader and no Motorola support. Right now, 2.2 is pretty much the best you can hope for from Dexter.

If motorola will update any phone to 2.3 - it maybe port to our phone.
But that unlikely for some reasons with moto...

We're struggling to have adequate quantities of RAM with Froyo, I can't imagine what type of performance we would get with Gingerbread.
Available RAM = Nope!

Dexter did this because there's froyo update for Korean XT720
and he managed to replace the drivers to fit into other versions of xt720
so, if moto provides Gingerbread update for XT720, you know that

[Q] Flash back to Froyo 2.2

Okay i know im going to get screamed at but im tired of looking for it in the threads. I downloaded a custom rom to my phone...it's nice. but now i want to flash a back to froyo 2.2, i have the odine one click and i can flash back pretty easy. But the only thing is, if i flash back to 2.2 i won't have full marke access. Is there anyway to flash back to 2.2 and still have full market access, yes my phone is rooted, i just need to know how to get full marked access on 2.2 Froyo. Sorry guys...don't kill me...

Which Froyo 2.2 do you want? One click Odin gets you 2.1. For 2.2 there were a couple of beta releases and then all custom Roms.
I am sorry you are tired of looking, but you really should spend the time to understand how all the pieces fit together. In the limited info you have provided there are way to many "in this case" scenarios.

there is also a oneclick odin for 2.2 JI6
where is this 2.2 odin?
All the Android 2.2 ROMs for the Captivate are "custom ROMs" as 2.2 hasn't actually been released for the Captivate yet. The custom 2.2 ROMs are all either based on unfinished leaked "beta" code or 2.2 for other hardware that's been hacked-up to try and work as best it can on the Captivate.
The Captivate comes with Android 2.1... perhaps that's what you meant?

2.2 hasn't been released in US market yet. But everywhere else, 2.2 is officially released. So the question is where on earth is the OP located.

[Q] I got a question about gingerbread

Hey guys as you may know gingerbread is running on almost every device now even my Droid Eris has 2.3 so I was wondering since the have cm7 for milestone now and it seems to be running pretty good and they can't flash custom kernels either I'd love to see 2.3 on this bad boy since got an almost 100% working froyo. Does anyone know what files are needed to get 2.3 up and running idc if anything works I just want it to mess with. Any input would be awesome.

The bootloader isn't unlocked on the XT720. Gingerbread isn't possible unless Motorola decides to unlock it or releases 2.3 for it (which is extremely unlikely).

Did you even read his post? He talked about CM7 on the normal Milestone 1, which isn't unlocked either. CM 7 is based on 2.3 If it works on the Milestone 1 with locked bootloader, then chances are big it works on the XT720 too.
Yes milestone 1 has a locked bootloader just like us they just have more developers than we do. Dexter gave me some insight on how to get it running so I'm gonna give it a try. I dont know alot about porting roms but Im reading up on it. We should be able to get it working tho. If anyone's knows anything about porting should give it a look.

[Q] Motoroi xt720

just want to ask the difference of xt720 motoroi to xt720 (without motoroi).
is there any difference in hardware? software maybe?
or is it really the same unit just released on different 'areas'
i was able to read one forum that says motoroi has updated to official 2.2? is that correct?
thanks very much

[Q] Milestone ROMS

Good day,
The installation on custom roms seem a bit confusing, was wondering if someone could help me...
Own a milestone A853, would like to update to Froyo / Gingerbread.
Another thing, I am from South Africa, is it possible to revert back to stock, ie 2.1 update 1 ? How exactly do I do that as well...
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you very much
you have a different phone, this ROM will not work with your phone
Wrong thread
I don't have a Milestone XT720, why was this moved to the Milestone XT720 discussions ?
It's the normal GSM Motorola Milestone, with hardware keyboard ? I'm just tired of waiting for the official update from Motorola, since that doesn't seem to happen.
Please let me know. Thank you very much

droid x sbf to froyo

OK, I have looked on the internet and have not found a clear answer. Is it safe, or even possible to sbf to stock froyo from the official ota android 2.3.3 gingerbread build for the Droid X
This thread has been up for a while, and I guess I might as well answer my own problem.maby my question will help others.Yes, you certainly can sbf flash from the gingerbread over the air build on the droid x and numerous other phones to froyo. Another phone is the droid 2 global. You can go from build 4.5.607 gingerbread to 2.4.29 froyo.
sbf stands for super base 95 file I believe
What exactly does sbf stand for?
