i recently got a hold of the cliq 2 by motorola and i will say that going from custom rom to stock....i miss custom and cant wait for custom roms to come out for the cliq 2 so i have a question about these encrypted bootloaders. Are the bootloaders for the cliq2 and droid X the same and if so will i be able to install a droid X recovery image? i dunno if these are dumb questions but any answers will help im pretty much lost in this whole subject...(have been able to root though )

Yes all android phones have a bootloader...but the bootloader is good. What's not good is that Motorola decided to lock down the Droid 2 and all newer droids by only letting .zip's signed by Motorola's encryption key through the bootloader. So there is no way to change the kernel by swapping out Moto's modified kernel with a different one which is how the Droid 1 got Gingerbread and the D2, DX, D2G, DPro don't and probably won't until Moto cough's up the keys or someone hacks the bootloader.

The Milestone X and the Milestone are not the same device. The Milestone X is a Droid X released this year but for smaller companies such as Alltel and here,in Puerto Rico, Open Mobile.
The problem we Milestone X'ers face is that we have to risk accidentally making them Verizon Droid X's, in other words making them useless on our carriers since the only ROM's available are designed for the Verizon Droid X.
I've made this mistake I can't get to activate my phone with Open Mobile Puerto Rico. Let me know if you find anything that covers Open Mobile PR carrier.
A curious thing happened by the way. When I installed the stock update rom 2.3.340 for Verizon the first time and I tried to activate if was of course for Verizon Wireless, so I did reinstall and tweaked a bit, but after a while I started getting activation for Claro PR.
I have no clue what changed but just a thought for brainstorming.
Try The Droid X Roms, Its A Possibility That They Work. --> Droid X <-- . But Make Sure You Nandroid First
I'm currently with the Galaxy S3, but been having signal issues and had my phone replaced 5 times so far...The CR asked if i wanted another phone and i told her that I didnt see one that i liked so far, so she said i could wait until the Droid Razr HD comes out,due to motorola having better radios...I just have to ask a couple of questions that I dont know
1. Can the bootloader be unlocked?
2. If the bootloader cant be unlocked can you still run custom roms?
3. Was there a lot of devs on the previously Razr/maxx?
nevermind delete question.. I have the answer to what I'm looking for
Alright, so I have a Verizon Droid 2, flashed over to Cricket. What I want to know is if I try to flash a ROM to my phone (like Steel Droid or CM) would it affect my cell phone service or anything? Also, are there any working root techniques for the Droid 2 anymore? If it helps, I'm running 2.3.4 and I can't find one anywhere.
