all of a sudden I'm having SD problems. when I went to use root explorer it said my SD wasn't mounted. how could it have gotten unmounted? is there a way to remount on the phone itself?

Others have had this issue in the past and last I checked that setting does not exist on the Nexus S. I assume it was programmed that way because they assumed you wouldn't need to unmount the SD card.
yeah I just checked, its not there. a reboot fixed it though. I'm not sure what happened

I think a reboot is just the best answer, but you could probably remount it with the mount command via the terminal without a reboot.
I'd be concerned, as you are, about why it dismounted in the first place.

Hi. I just installed CM 7.1 on my G2x and for some reason it's not detecting the internal SD card. Is there some thing I need to do to fix this?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It's at /mnt/ennc
Weird place for it IMO, but I'm sure there's a way to change it.
Aha. So it is. Unfortunately apps like the gallery and camera are saying I have no SD card. Is there a way to mount it so it's detected properly?

Yes there is. CM7 has a setting for swapping the mount points of the internal and external sdcards. I am not running cm7 currently though and can't remember where the setting is. After you change the setting, reboot for everything to mount properly. Ask over in the cm7 thread where the setting is or hopefully someone else will comment here.
The other solution would be to get an external sdcard for your phone. In my opinion that's the better solution but it also costs money so ...
Thanks for the replies. For right now I restored the stock ROM. There were a few things I didn't like about CM but I'll probably flash it again when I have more free time to mess with it.

Hello fellow DC owners. I have a question. When I reboot my phone, more often than not, the SD card is not read and thus all of the apps on the SD card are shown as not being installed. When this happens they are also missing from my market (except if they were purchased then it shows just that). The only fix for this that I've found is to remove the SD card reboot without it then reinstall it and reboot again. The unmount SD card option in the settings doesn't work at all. It hangs up. I have tried all of the repitable SD mounting Widgets I can find to no avail. For my launcher I am using GO Launcher and I love it.
If there is any help you can give I'd appreciate it.
I am unrooted and using the GO Launcher.

never heard of this happening before... you may need to make copies of everything you have on there and format it then it should read it correctly, also does it read fine in your pc or another phone?
yes the SD card is good had it on motodroid before this checked it on pc also. This happened after EE4 build. Even tried reformat and factory reset to no avail. For several months I just moved all apparently to phone and used SD for photos and downloads. Bit ran low on memory which caused more problems.

That file will prolly fix it. Unfortunately you have to be rooted to flash it in cwm recovery. So short of trying another SD card temporarily, that's all i know to do
You should hit the thanks button for mefloump for finding and posting that file for you. Just a tip

Not quite sure as to how to do the "thanks " thing. There's not a button on the application to do so, but I am grateful.

Do NOT use kejar's SDCard Root Fix on Gingerbread, it will break USB Mass Storage Mode.
I have made backups fine in the past, but I just tried again 2 times, and it gets to /data and starts going, then stops, and says there was a error backing up /data
What might cause this?
I have 8G free on the SD card

Would the battery being low cause this? I mean mine was at 65%
No this is usually caused by space issues in your sd card. Backup ur sd card to pc and reformat? Maybe that might help.

He says that he has 8gb free, reformat might do it though... other then that I have no clue. Battery would have nothing to do with this issue.

Well that didn't work either, I tried a different SD card, and getting the same thing......it gets about 3/4 of the way through /DATA and then give that error

If your trying to do a backup from the app as oppose to booting into cwm recovery you may have freezes.
Pin it to Win it.

Well, I went ahead and installed the new ROM anyway, and restored my apps using titanium and then I went into CWM and mounted everything, and it let me make a backup of the new ROM so, I dunno...........
I have a heard of a rom not allowing people to back up for some reason before. Maybe a google search will help you for a reason? mind sharing what rom you were on?

If you booted into CWM using the EZ Recovery app then you would notice that you can manually save backups to either sd card.

It might also be that you don't have your external card formatted to fat32. CWM doesn't like the exFat format that I believe all big cards come in.

If your talking about rom manager then yea thats normal!
On a side note, I recomend flashing files manually in CWM recovery...you would not believe how many threads I have helped folks get out of a softbrick or bootloop situation by flashing with rom manager. The app works great, but you still need to know the background information on what your flashing! To many people think since they can pull the file up on RM, it must be compatible, or they flash with the wrong recovery = soft brick! Part of the main reason my guide is written in its fashion...provides proper instructions to flash, makes one read a bit, and repeats its self to pound the info into ones head. Not tryin to preach to ya, just wanted to share some possibly useful info to yourself and others. thx
I was wondering the same about saving to external from rom manager. So our only option it looks like is to boot to recovery and manually go to save it to the external sd?

If you mean when you're on the CWM and try to do anything you get an error that the SD can't be mounted, then I'm afraid you will need to take the phone back to stock mode and go up until the version you were running when the issue happened.
If you search over Google with the exact error you will find lots of solutions, even here on XDA, but I wasn't able to get it work (it happened to me once) and I solved it by doing what I just mentioned above.
Good luck with this!
