The latest update of JRummy's Droid Overclock app (v. 2.0.2) now allows kernel tweaks under Settings/Advanced Settings.
Options include setting the sampling rate, upping the threshold, enabling normalized sleeper, new fair sleepers and gentle fair sleepers as well as sysctl support.
What do these do?
Has anyone tried them?
Any recommendations for settings?
I can't even run 2.0.2 since it forecloses on me everytime on Fission.
It's Been FC on everybody since update
we will just half to wait for him to fix the problem.

New update in market fixed fc issue for me. New version is 2.0.3. Although the kernel tweeks still will not set on boot for me.

The tutorial at droidforums.net/forum/liberty-rom-d2/122733-tutorial-sysctl-you-guide-better-preformance-battery-life.html should help explain a bit and he references his source which gives way more info. I applied all of the mods from there to my liberty 1.5 ROM. Haven't noticed much in the way of speed, but I've been using my phone non-stop for the past 2 hours (unplugged when fully charged after mods) and my battery is still at 80%, I'd say it's worth looking into.

Droid Overclock is an app I ran across on the Market today with all sorts of nice features.
It may have been out for awile, I just didnt see it.
It costs $1.50. Very Nice App
Looks like it does alot more then setcpu
Oh yeah, I bought this app when I had my d2. Wasn't sure if it supported the incredible though and I just use the built in overclocking in CM.
Its a sweet app though and jrummy did a nice job with the interface.

Makes your processor operate at a faster speed, speeding up your phone. It kills your battery faster though.

Actually (What effects screen brightness and OC CPU have on battery) speeding up your cpu doesn't effect that battery as much as you think its very minimal. So overclock all you want
Does it harm your phone in any way?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
This actually looks a lot better than SetCPU. I like it.
If you overclock too high, to a incompatible setting, the phone will just go into a loop mode. The setting won't be stable.. it errors itself and can't correct it. So you need to scale it back down. Sorry if I don't know all the terms and such.. dinc's are fast just to begin with. I oc'd so I could try and get better benchmark scores. It worked and the phone was stable to where i could use it all the time problem free. I managed to get scores I could be.. once that happened I stopped clocking up, and started scaling back. Undervolting the system with a different kernel / governer setting will yield you the best battery life..

Well I'll start with what I think I'd think to be easy and i'm just not seeing it. OC daemon for aosp. I've seen it built in, but how to add to already installed ROM? Now another question. Even with pinky undervolt and the radio that I was recommended for the ROM blackice, I'm getting horrible better life
compared to when I had sense 3. Any idea on that? Thanks to any help someone can throw out.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
For the OC Daemon, I would try searching the forums for a thread dedicated to it. If they have an installable .apk for it, you would simply download that and install like any other app. If its a system app, you would have to mount /system with say ES file explorer, copy it to /system/app and then assign the proper permissions.
My questions is if there is a way to confirm that undervolts are being applied. In the blackice thread some people were saying the included tool might not be applying them correctly. Thought id make a few posts here though so I could post in the actual thread lol.

OC/UV Beater will show you what your voltages are currently set to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207546
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're referring to the OC daemon in ARHD I think that's written for his CPU scheduler. If you're on AOSP I would recommend SetCPU
Well with the OC daemon question, I have seen people build it into cm based roms. So I was just thinking, if they can do it that way, why not in a preinstalled ROM.

Thanks for the suggestion. After I asked I found out systune included in the rom showed the values and they are being applied.
Correct if I'm wrong but setcpu will anything that ocdaemon can do. I would just use that or choose a rom with it cooked in.
Setcpu just follows governors. the OC daemon uses governors but also has set clock and governor for screen off and on, therefore, saving battery life. Also better performance.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Setcou does all that and more. You can get it for free on these forums. It has way more than screen off profile. It has batt. Temp charging. batt Level profilr and more
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Setcpu has always made my battery life horrid. The oc daemon has assisted me in achieving 2 days battery life with average to heavy usage.

If I'm going to overclock my phone on cm7 what would be the best speed or should I just leave it and how do I freeze my blot wear
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Ive been using hellfirephoenix rom which is an offshoot of cm7 and i can overclock to 1.5 ghz easy, which is the max safe setting id say for everyday use. You also have to have a kernal which supports 1.5 ghz though such as faux123's kernals.
In order to freeze stuff i use AntTek which you can get on the market its very easy to use. Otherwise you can buy the full version of titanium backup i believe.
Use morfic's kernels. There is no max safe overclock, it's up to what your phone can handle. I am sitting comfortably at 1.6
I read you can use pimp my CPU to overclock but I can't find the app

Does overclocking have any downside to it? Like more battery drain or something?

less stability is the main issue if you OC too high. if you set the right profiles in setcpu you can actually get much better battery life.

Yes. But combined with undervolting I get better than stock battery life running at 1.6.

Just checked this out! Fastest way to drain battery ever. My screen didn't go dark completely, it just dimmed down and stayed like that. Luckily this is a script run by Script Manager, and it's activated when you turn off the screen.
Seriously not recommended

The newest faux kernels do this already, but thanks for sharing.

Funny, it has been working fine for me. For anyone who doesn't use an app like setCPU and is on the OLD baseband this would be great. This on the NEW bb WITH a screen off profile is even better. It's still not pre-new base band like drain, but I don't wake up with a mostly drained battery. I just looked at faux's release notes and it sounds pretty tailored to the new bb, so I think I will see how his does alone.

Jarvis kernel already have this implemented
Excuse me folks but alot of people can't use the new faux kernel and Jarvis kernel isn't exactly stable on all phones niether, the guy is simply sharing something he found, what about Harsh, Morfic, etc??? This works wonderfully with morfics kernel on Cm7.2 stable even with undervolting, I get huge battery saving now, so be easy gentlemen

When running as a script it cant find files it look for in /sys/power/ i think tegra has diff management so it doesnt work.. maybe simce faux implemented in hia kernel it doesnt work.. i am in limbo myaself.

so far... the best tweak was the disabling the sleepers... i did do the Internet tweaks... i got some of the best speed test results yet since I had the phone... but the Internet ping was short... so it may be because I was extremely close to a server...and my 4G at home is ok but not a clean 4g...so that test is not reliable... i would say it's a user preference

Best CPU Governor Tweaks?
Just curious to know what CPU Governor Tweaks are working best for people? Also, should the hardware acceleration and force gpu rendering options both be kept on together at all times for best results?

I use Tweaked 3.1 as my rom and it has always been best using ondemand for the governor... some people have used smartass when over clocking (tegrak is the only one so far reported to actually work to over clock our stock kernel) but this governor setting is not as good for battery consumption...so far I have only tested on demand(which I think is in dslices build of tweaked) some of these settings are new that I have not even heard of till this pimp my rom came out... One that comes to mind is the brazillion... the hardware excelleration I turned on but I left the force gpu settings off(I never tried it) because in the description it said it increased ram usage and the driod charge as one of its main complaints is lack of ram... these tweaks are so easy you can play and remove them as needed... that's what makes them great... it's you phone and you can make it like you like it...and if something really makes you happy... share it... please!... lol
