Hey, i'm new to Android and I this is my first Android phone. I saw some stuff around about removing un-needed **** the metro puts on it so I rooted it. I wanted to try to use the Icarus mod for it found at MyAscend but whenever I ran the windows fast boot for ClockWorkMOD (yes I did turn the phone off and back on using Volume+,Send,Pwr button) and even having th phone in that mode the launcher/installer for ClockWorkMOD says <waiting for device>, I have the phone drivers installed and even tried on 2 diff pc's. I tried using the stock metro flash and still it says <waiting for device>. Then I read it said to install mods I had to clear some caches on the ClockWorkMOD version 3.0.0.x. and now when I plug it in via usb it just shows the drive is conneceted but the software that allows you to choose weather to use file transferring or install drivers doesn't come up. So I can't access my SD unless I put it in my old phone and then plug that into my laptop. Any ideas on how to fix this and get the <waiting for device> message to go away?
did back your phone up first?...go to myascend.org...this forum is dedicated to that device plenty of help there

A few days ago my phone started acting weird as it would not boot beyond the initial Google screen. It was random behavior as sometimes it would boot normally but sometimes i would have to do a battery pull. Its a rooted phone which was running Cyanogen 7.
I tried booting into recovery to find that it was not mounting the SDcard and always shows the message "error mounting SDcard". After reading on some forums that it could be a CWM issue i was able to flash a new CWM (one which was more stable) as well as Cyanogen 9 but the problem still persisted.
The situation now is that i cannot get it to even connect to my laptop since the ADB drivers are not being installed on my Win8 even after unchecking the "check for signed drivers" option in Win8. Without the phone being recognized i cannot flash anything to the device.
I suspect there may be something with the hardware, as sometimes the phone does not even power on. Any help on this would be appreciated as my phone is just lying there. Which is provoking me to buy an S3
When you plug it into your computer does it show up in device manager at all? Also I don't know win8 as well as win7, idk if they kept device manager in there...

it shows as Android 1.0 but as i was trying to revert to stock rom and cwm using the Nexus Toolkit i removed any and all device drivers that had been previously installed as instructed by the guide in the toolkit.
I used was always able to see Android 1.0 while in bootloader but if i went into recovery it showed "Nexus" in the device manager, yet the recovery gave the message "unable to mount sdcard"

it cant find the device..just shows "waiting for device" nothing happens after that have to CTRL+C out of it. Here is what i think is going on and anyone is welcome to input their comments:
1. Windows 8 is probably not allowing the Samsung drivers to be installed which is why the phone always shows "!" next to it in the device manager
2. Once i am able to get the drivers in there i should be able to flash a new recovery since the one i currently have CWM 5.0.2.0 is causing the sdcard not to mount and i always get the "error mounting sdcard" when i try the mounts and storage
3. Once that is fixed i think i should be able to flash a new ROM

i use windows 8 and everything works, dont use samsung drivers use google ones.
check this thread made by me and try again:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901617
I think its your laptop not having the right drivers. I don't have a Nexus device right now (not sure why I'm posting here), but I think it's supposed to say something else beside "Android 1.0", which tends to mean the driver isn't correct. I wouldn't discount using Windows 8 as an issues.
But I have similar issues in the past with multiple Android drivers conflicting. When you remove drivers from the Device Manager, make sure to also check the box telling it to delete the files from the system as well.
Then use the Google USB driver, links in my signature.
Hi there,
I've read every kind of threads here and no one works for me. I rooted my Samsung GT-I9000 and all worked well, then the phone started acting crazy, my root was gone and when I boot the phone I come to the usual screen where you enter pincode but after that the popup screens start, multiple popups saying that twlauncher crashed, media, acore etc.. so I cant get to the screen where I can enable usb debugging. I can enter the stock recovery and my PC can contact the phone, but when I press vol down + home + power so I get the download mode the PC cant find the phone, not in win7 or in Linux. I have tried every kind of driver there is for Samsung but no one works that make it possible for the PC to find the phone when it is in download mode, win7 list it under "unknown device" and NO driver at ALL works so win7 can reqonize the phone. I've tried installing Kies how many times I dont know and uninstalling, updated SDK, uninstalled every USB driver and even the hubs and installed them again, updated win7.. what can I do to flash the phone!?!? Because Odin, no matter old from new; cant find the phone in DL mode, same with linux. And in stock recovery, I wiped cache and data but the problem is still there when I enter the OS after enter my pin...
How can I flash my phone without PC finding the phone in DL mode and no USB debugging enabled? Or how to flash CWM so I can flash a ROM from SD? Please help!!
At first try another PC with Winsows or use another USB cable.
About recavery-try to find temperery recovery or cwm, that flash from recovery.

As I wrote, my desktop is under Linux and the laptop under Win7 and none can reach the phone, both computers can only detect the phone in Recovery mode, but the laptop under Win7 only detect the phone as offline, Linux on the other hand can reboot phone into recovery from recovery, to download mode and reboot normal. Already tried to use Ubuntu 13 Live and it cant detect the phone in DL mode either. And tried different cables also. And if I find a recovery or CWM, then what? Dont I need to get phone into DL mode to flash something?
But in Linux I've got a small breakthrough, Heimdall can detect the phone know, but fails to flsah anything. Maybe wrong files or something..? But anyhow, if Heimdall now can detect the phone and it couldnt before; know I just need the right files to flash.
Just find a friend who owns Windows desktop/ laptop, download stock from Sammobile, flash stock via Odin. If not, try Odin mobile...
hello,
I hope someone can help me with my AT&T LG Optimus Pro G phone, which I have royally screwed up.
I was experimenting with the cyogen mod and after installation I installed the freegee app and once the cwm recovery was installed, I decided to go into the recovery by holding down up volume and power button.
Once I was in recovery for CWM i couldn't exit out, and the phone constantly booted into recovery after every reboot, even if i took out the battery, and powered it on.
I tried reflashing the cynogen mod through the sd card, and even though I would get success message the phone would still reboot into the cwm recovery.
I started doing research on the internet and i found file exitrecovery.zip that could be used to possibly get the phone out of the cwm recovery.
After installing exitrecovery.zip, I rebooted the phone, and now I have complete black screen. There are no light, no hints the phone is even turning on, and I can't get into recovery( or at least I can't tell). The only thing now is that when i connect the phone to the computer the window tries to install drivers for the device, and eventually prompts to insert a CD for LG drivers. I already have LGUnitedMobileDriver v.3.10.1 connection drivers installed from their website.
Please help, I am really stuck here..... and have no clue what to do. I am fairly new with rooting and modding, and I am extremely miserable.
The phone is still under warranty from LG. Anyone if all else fails, and since the phone has no screen or lights, whether they would replace it?
Attaching the exitrecovery.zip that I used.
sobbing....

hi, thanks for your reply. Again I very much new to the rooting and android OS tinkering, and nowhere close to an experienced user.
I tried to use google with your information in regards to how to use flow ROM with expansion.exe, but did not get any leads.
I would appreciate if you could elaborate more on this process.
When my phone is connect to the computer via usb is is constantly trying to install drivers. I had already installed LG usb connection drivers in the past and it was successful. It almost seems it tries to install driver yet fails after receiving no input from the phone, and then request LG CD with drivers.

Try to find driver on the web-site of producer. Set them. Overload a vehicle in Bootloader. In the controller of devices on компе must be determined your device. Then on a computer start sewing - .EXE.
Did you get this problem resolved? I have the exact problem with the exact phone!!!
thank you very much
So I have a LG p506 and I recently installed cyanogen-mod 10.1 on it. I had to use the November release as the newest one wouldn't load past the cyanogen logo(i let it run for a couple hours). Everything seemed to work great after that. So I put the phone in my backpack for a later date.
When i finally pull it back out the battery was completely dead, and plugging the phone into usb would not charge it. I used an external device to charge it.
Basically the only thing the phone can do now is load the lg logo, go into emergency mode, and fastboot. I can erase and flash images, I have tried system boot and recovery multiple times with different files.
However I get the same two things every time i try something:
1. when I plug the phone into usb, the phone will do its thing then give a STALL GET_DESCRIPTOR error
2. fastboot devices shows something but I get a "?" where the serial number should be.
I am not proficient enough with fastboot to try other commands. Any one have some advice?
Also, I've tried every usb port I have, theres only one that works with the phone. One of the usb ports shows up normally on the phone but fastboot won't show any devices. I am running windows 7 ultimate x64.
The one thing i haven't tried is reinstalling windows 8 on one of my hdd's and seeing if it isn't a win7 issue. Ive used it with win 8 before and it didn't give the error message.

fastboot doesn't show a serial number for that device. At least never has for me. If 'fastboot devices' lists something like
Code:
List of devices attached
???????? fastboot
then you're good to go.
damn that was my only thing to go on lol. nothing will get this phone to boot into recovery. im about to get a sd card reader for my pc to test and see if its bad.

You can use fastboot to flash another recovery. Rashed should have a link in the OP for the 4.1.2 ROM you said you were using. You can continue to use the command-line if you like, but I did write a Windows app for flashing recoveries. Links in my signature.

ill give it a try, but i have tried just about every recovery file i can get my hands on and no luck, also looks like winds 8 doesn't want to acknowledge my phones existence. I downloaded and installed the driver from LG but still no luck, windows 8 is giving me a failed descriptor error as well.
ok so i have been stumbling around for a bit and noticed something possible wrong.
Windows 7 device manager shows my device, installed correctly, but listed as USB Modem Phone ADB Port.
Shouldn't this be a fastboot port? Since ADB is only available via the android operating system, and i can't get into my operating system, all i have is fastboot.
I have ran thru quite a few fast boot recovery pages, and I don't know what im missing here.

I'd say that was/is the correct port name. I don't have that device anymore so I cannot say for sure.

ok, so this is a follow up on some things i have tried recently.
Since my last post i have:
1. put the sdcard into my tablet, and formatted it/ ran an error scan on it via windows.
2. i then flashed a recovery file via my phones fastboot, i pulled that card put it back in tablet to see what files it installed.
3. according to windows, flash recovery installed a .LOST folder with nothing in it, which is the same thing my tablet has on its internal memory, so i don't think there's anything wrong there.
4. phone still cant boot past LG logo(or recovery), or charge the battery when plugged in.
5. I still get a stall get_descriptor error when connected via usb, and commands such as fastboot reboot don't work, tho the phone will say its rebooting (it says its rebooting then just sits there and does nothing, command prompt will say action completed).
6. one thing i have tried as well, is telling windows not to automatically install drivers, then uninstalling my phone from device manager.
Whats interesting about this was that windows was installing its own ADB modem driver from it's own library every time i plugged in the phone. After disabling auto drivers, and reinstalling my LG drivers, the phone simply remains an unknown device.
Some things I have tried include pointing windows to the driver folder, both the downloaded folder and the folder windows installed it to. Neither worked.
The next thing I tried is the have disc option on both. Although there are setup information files in the install folder (about 50 of em), pointing the phone to each file one at a time did not work.
What did work, interesting enough was pointing the phone to a set of Naked Drivers I downloaded, although none of those drivers are specifically for my phone, and they only gave me the same problem I had when i had windows auto installing its own driver.
LG L5 612 - fastboot issue
Hi,
I have an LG L5 612.
I'm trying to perform below actions, but always get "waiting for device" ... and nothing happens.
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
"adb devices" lists my device correctly, while "fastboot devices" output nothing.
C:\ADB>adb devices

C:\ADB>fastboot devices
C:\ADB>
C:\ADB>fastboot reboot-bootloader

Hi,
I didnt installed custom roms in a long time so I forgott pretty much everything.
I had Pixel Plus instaled on my Note 7 Pro and I tried yesterday to update to Android 13 version directly from phone settings. I did this choosing manually a zip file that I downloaded and now my phone is stuck at power up. It had just google logo and could not boot up. With power and volume +/- i can get to TWRP and Fastboot but my PC cant recognize my device. Im not sure but usb debugging should be on if I didnt touched anything after installing custom rom. From TWRP i tried to install original MIUI which i downloaded to PC and saved on USB. In TWRP I choose to install from USB, but at the begining of installation there is a few red lines "cant mount something" and then it starts with installation until its finished. But the same problem, the phone is just stuck at power up MIUI logo. Tried again but with saving installation on sd card, and i get same results. MI Tools V2 cant recognize my phone either. ADB wont recognize it also. I installed google android drivers.
Can anyone help...
