Is there any FXP capable appt on the market? I really want the ability to transfer files from my PC to my NAS using a GUI based app. I already have an FTP server set up on my PC, so all I need is an app capable of doing the transfer with out having to download the data to my device then upload to my NAS.

gmote may work for you, in the market
and you install the server portion on your pc, you connect via lan/wifi to your home pc. you can browse through your drives/folders like you would in astro and when you click on a movie file it will play it on your pc monitor, the video player is built into gmoteserver (pc side)
you can also install vnc server on your pc and then install vnc on android (market vnc)
and control it just like you would a normal vnc session.
i myself am looking for a file browser for android that will let me browse network shares and let me copy files to my sdcard

as i said in my first post gmote dose this but when you open a .avi file it opens it in its own weird player and dont run the codec from vlc so the video isnt as clear (is there a fix for that)... but yer i want something just like that... but opens the files in vlc...
im using a remote desktop atm (VNC) without much enjoyment.. its ok i guess just would like a simple app to all drives and pick a file to play full screen on my computer to the look of astro

sorry i must not have read your OP sorry about that.
there is another app gremote much more polished version but its a paid app (market app free but pc software is costs)
besides a vnc type app, i dont know of any app for the pc that will let you remotely launch files too. so if its not there for the pc, its probably not there for the android.
im going to search google for remotely executing files that may lead us to an app that may be made for the android
only other thing i can think of is continue using vnc, switch to media player home cinema as it pauses/play on mouse click. setup a play list on the pc, then use your phone to vnc in to play/pause/volume up/down.
next to that cordless mouse and keyboard =)
So you are looking for a Media Remote Control application.

No no no. What you want is estrongs file explorer. Browse network shares via
Samba (PC networking) or ftp. Over wifi for lan shares or 3G with ftp.
You can ditch Astro after that find.
If you need to do it the other way around; browse the phone's file system with a pc or other device, use swiftp which is an ftp server.

try bluttooth applications like gmote..
try this also.. i am uploading a file (but its more a hacking tool i think, u can access other bluetooth device's files and copy them into ur device!!)
I used a program called Plex
http://elan.plexapp.com/2011/02/16/plex-for-android/
It worked (got movies to stream onto tablet/ phone), but it buffers frequently even on my wifi N network.
Hello all, Im having some trouble figuring this out. And I need a lil help if someone could. I would like to be able to file share between my computer and my phone, and even stream movies, music to my phone via wifi. I have a dsl modem with wifi built in, its connected to my laptop with a wire. So is there any thing I can do to achieve this? ES File manager has FTP and LAN clients built in, cant I use that somehow to connect to my computer and transfer stuff? Thanks for any help
You can always use DoubleTwist with AirSync or Winamp. They are the 2 apps that I know will allow this. Also, try Dropbox.
Sent from my AT&T Inspire 4G.
plug in the usb.. click disk drive
if you would like to transfer files wirelessly you have to install a media server on your pc.. i use serviio. then you have to find a program from the android store that will see the server on your pc from your phone and transfer files.

ok, i installed serviio and its running, i chose which files to share, now what do I do? do I have to go into network sharing center and give it a name and pass or something like that?
I also have estrong file explorer and file expert which is supposed to connect to servers also.
Well you can just use Dropbox, its an app and also a program for PC...just sign in, and anything you put in it, you can access, whenever, anywhere (by singing into the app of course) .
Hi there,
I'm looking for an application whereby I can assess music on my pc wirelessly and browse/play them within Poweramp. I have seen applications that can sync the music within their own interface, or download the tracks but I wish to stream them over wifi/3g.
I can see that ES File Explorer may allow to browse my pc via ftp, I haven't tried this as of yet, but essentially I want to be able to see my pc music folder on my phone within poweramp (my preferred music player) and stream them as opposed to sync/download.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,
Currently to remotely access (in 3g as well WiFi) to my server to see my personal media (pics, music, video...but streaming video depends on your bandwidth) I use several apps but all of them use it's own media player so no way to pass music to PowerAmp..
They are:
Tonido
Plex
Qloud Media
You can try to access your Pc trough Samba share (\\servername\musicfolder) but not a really a wise idea if you care about the security of your pc...
Never tried by myself but should work:
Prerequisite (without this you will not be able to use this method)
Your kernel MUST support cifs (modules called cifs.ko).If you are on stock Rom/kernel... No way, if you are on a custom one it depend on the dev that have developed the kernel, try to find it out ( XDA is a good way )
Share your music folder(restrict acces to only one user avoid EVERYONE)
On your router redirect Samba(also known as cifs, smb or windows share) tcip port to your server intranet Ip (local ip of your server usually 192.168.xxx.xxx)
Install from the market an app to mount cifs share on your android phone (I use CIFS Manager, remember to configure it, it does not work out of the box)
Add your music share to CIFS Manager (you must know your Public Ip and, if it is not static, every time you have to know the new Ip your ISP assigned to you)
Using any File browser go to /mnt/cifs/ and you'll find the share you have just created
Browse it and you should be able to access to your music library, as well all the file of your Pc.
Not using this method or PowerAmp not sure if you'll be able to stream music or only to download it.
To be honest I wold not expose my Pc to Internet in this way.... Windows security is not so strong... Anyway It's up to you.
Hope this will work, as I never tested it,and hope will help you.
Thank you for the detailed response there, I'll look into it!
You're wellcome
I'm using " AUDIOGALAXY " it's free !!!!!
Interface sux, but wotdayagonnado !

or apply and setup a dyndns or no-ip account
Hi pratetorious,
I do also use Dyndns services, quite all new router have built in the client to do it, but not sure that CIFS manager support HOSTNAME rather than simple IP, never tested it.
It could work anyway, but not sure about it
Hello
Seagate has discontinued remote viewing of this series of cloud drives....
I do have an older model of this drive that still is recognized in the cloud. I use it to store movie libraries on PLEX.
I used to be able to login in a chrome pointed to the IP Address ie 192.168.1.222 .... simple enough but remote cannot be turned on.
HOWEVER, using the X-plore app by Michal Bacik on My Pixel OS 12 Phone I can add the drive as a server and see all the files and all is well.
Using File Explorer, Windows 10 Sees this drive and lists it under the Network tab, but clicking on the drive says Windows cannot access this device ?
Under Network locations it sees it as "SCSS DLNA Server: SEAGATE3TB-02" (SEAGATE3TB-02 is what I named it)
Clicking on "SCSS DLNA Server: SEAGATE3TB-02" it opens a window ">COMPUTER >SCSS DLNA Server: SEAGATE3TB-02" and says this folder is empty.
It's not empty... lots of mp4 video files which I can access and play using my android phone.
Any Ideas ?
Thanks
Chas
