Was wondering if anyone could make an update.zip or metamorph to change the Clock and Notification item text color White. I saw it could be done through ADB, need an easier solution. I also tried using SkaggzColor did not work as well. If you could upload here would be greatly appreciated. This is also for the Motorola Droid X device.
thanks again

If you get xUltimate 2.2 you can use that to change the clock color and some of the notication bar colors. Notification drop down text color would require the framework for whatever ROM you are using. T he changes would need to be made within xml files.

still nothing, followed all the steps, deodexed the device ran the change clock color... it rebooted the device still black clock.

If you have the correct drivers on your pc for adb, then run the following from a command line on the pc:
Adb pull /system/framework/services.jar C:\
You should now have a file called services.jar in your C drive. Attach that to a post and I will change the clock color for you.
Note you will need to change the .jar to .zip to be able to attach it correctly

I'm currently running Cyanogen 5.08 on my N1 and decided to try the Metamorph application. I was having trouble finding any themes that said they were 5.08 compatible so I decided to try one that was listed as 5.06 compatible but after rebooting I kept getting force close messages so obviously something went wrong.
I'm new to Metamorph and just followed the intructions of unziping and then installing the theme.
I'm really interested in the Kspec theme but interested in any that might work on 5.08. Do I need to install them a different way because I am using CM? Thanks for any help on this.
For CM 5.0.8 or 5.0.7 just remove any xml's from the theme before you apply it. Since these 2 versions of CM have the abilities to change notification/status bar text colors you don't need those xml's. At least you could do this until the particular themer updates their theme.
Just remove all xml's and leave *only* the images.
If I delete all xml files how do I install the theme? Don't I need to select the main xml file to select within the Metamorph application when it asks me which theme to install?
Does this mean just delete the xml files embedded in the different folders?
Thanks
No, deleting the xml is definetely false.
Delete the services folder in the theme and the folder /framework-res/res/layout folder.
In Cyanogen 5.0.8 you can change the text colour in spare parts.
Or you will have a look in my themes. They all work with this rom, too.

you know? I'm still on cm5.0.6 for GlassBar but now I can move to cm5.0.8
before I tried to change clock and date color but I have to use windows OS to
do that Bcuz I dont find xml editor on linux
thanks
Ok I tried using glass bar but I'm still having problems. Its begins to install but when it gets to "Applying framework-res.apk theme 7 of 7" it just stays there indefinitely. My phone doesn't freeze or anything or ask me to force close the app so I'm confused.
Could it be that I'm running a custom kernal along with CM 5.08?

just wait tel restart the UI and will apply , if you not got full glass just re-apply
only the last one "framework-res.apk"
Yes, right. It should work.
Play a bit with the applying speed in metamorphs settings.
Or look at the first post. I've added some helping manual with problems at metamorphing in my theme threads.

Love the font but I wish everything was red. The mix of red and green looks a bit strange.
I'm too lazy to edit the htc resources apk... .9 pngs are no fun, and with no /system write access, its a pita to test themes. I need my phone right now and seeing as how vzw is a cdma carrier, its a pain to switch phones. Believe me, the green bothers me just as much as it bothers you guys... but I'm just gonna wait it out till koush ports cm to our phones. Having the source for .9 pngs makes things a lot easier for theming, and I don't want to waste any time.

You should try ExtendedControls instead of switch pro... transparency as well as different color schemes
Hey thanks for everything love all the red...its understandable that certain things will remain green....one thing tho...the date isn't centered properly on the unlock screen. The tab you slide down..
bump for less green... yay for "borrowing" from others. go donate to that guy somehow. Check out first post.
Good to see some of my work getting over to the incredible. As soon as I get some time ill try and port over my themes.
This is a nice and minimalist tweak. Thank you.
2 questions:
1) If I load just the framework file, will the stock Droid fonts stay in use? (would prefer those over your modded version)
2) Any chance you'd consider doing a blue version? I think the blue mixed with the un-editable sense green would go a little better than the red.

Excellent! Any chance of getting those battery icons that show the percentage?
I was working on changing the framework.apk and figure some others may want a transparent status bar as well..
Place the framework-res.apk on the root of your sd card
reboot into recovery
mount system and sdcard
adb shell
/system/bin/cat /sdcard/framework-res.apk > /system/framework/framework-res.apk
/system/bin/chmod 4777 /system/framework/framework-res.apk
exit
reboot
ENJOY!
I can't seem to get adb shell to work - says my device is disconnected. I have the latest sdk installed. What could I be doing wrong?

Complete NOOB question:
How do you mount system and sdcard while in recovery ?
TYIA
adb remount
I can't wait for a transparent notification tab at the top. Bring on customizations!
You need to be rooted with unrevoked reflash tool and reboot to recovery. Go to partitions menu
Mount system and mount sdcard.

Just curious -- what program are you using to edit the images? I can't seem to get the transparency right, so if there's any way you can give a few "steps for success" that'd be awesome.
No matter what I do, when I push my own modifications back to the phone, the transparency is either lost (i.e. opaque) or too much (i.e. 100% transparent).
Anyway - great work - hoping you can share the technique. (sorry if it's a bit of a graphics noob question!)
Nevermind! Got it all figured out. Well, except for those .9 png's. Been trying like hell to turn to actual -items- in the notification pane transparent too, but no dice.
Anyway, thanks for the inspiration!
The .9 s are easier if you zoom in. I use coreldraw. Gimp is a free one you can download but i don't remember if it did the transparency right. U can copy the transparency from mine and resize it too. Works well.

I tried replacing the files from your apk to mine with no luck. Can you double check?
You have to re-sign it if you change it unless you use 7zip.
Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk
I use 7zip. Those are the files you changed?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I tried just using those files also (with 7zip) and I just get a black background. Is there another file I'm missing?
Can anyone confirm this working on skyraider 2.0?
So I made a flashable patch to get this ported to 2.2 (leak)
I'm having a small issue. The colors change just fine, however, it is not transparent at all. Yes, I'm certain the PNGs themselves are transparent, but once applied to the phone, zero transparency.
Is there something I'm missing? Is there a file I need to edit to 'allow' transparency on the device?
Thanks in advance.
Im running into some problems while trying to to theme the framework-res.
Im using apk manger to decompile the apk, so far ive only tried changing the zzz_buttons that go in the drop down bar.
I recompile the apk ect...
But i keep getting force closes "'tw_quick_panel" and then everything else, when i apply the apk via root explorer.
Also, which values in the xml do i edit so all the fonts are white, and the menus are black.
Does anyone want to team up with me and help me make a theme, i can do all the graphics, but im not really sure what to edit in the XMLs and im obviously doing something wrong when compiling
Thanks.
Hi natious
I think my posts in this thread will help:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942618
its not on color but its a general guide on how to modify framework-res.apk
To change font color; you have to specify which text? ; there are several categories of text in the framework; title bar, notification bar, menus , sub menus system app, etc....
also, you have the same with background colors, its not a single value and its cannot be changed with changing single value; some apps have their own background pngs
xml deals with colors located in colors, drawable, layout and values directories
res\values\styles.xml is the main layout styling and theming xml
i can apply any changes you want, if help
good luck with theming....
Hi there as far as i understand, you are supposed to push the frame-res.apk by using command:
adb push framework-res.apk DESTINATION_FOLDER.
Copying might not work, plus this has to do from the recovery.
Hope this helps.

Do i have to push the framework back to the phone via adb, or is just replaceing it with root explorer fine.
Is it possible to see the changes on a virtual device rather than having to send it to the phone.

If u manage to push via adb in recovery mode, then thats the best method of reverting stuff if it fails..If u copy/replace via root explorer you better be sure you have done all correct, else ull be flashing factoryfs.rfs unlimited times..
If u have root permissions in recovery mode, ill would use that method..

I used to work on themes for the Vibrant and I then I bought my 4G. Been working on a theme for it whenever I have time since I have been working on a website for my dad.
Here is the deal. When I unpack the Framework-res.apk and edit the Values.xml and then recompile... when I push the framework-res back to the phone it causes a bootloop... Can someone tell me if this is because of a kernel issue? I had been trying to change the text color on the bottom pop up menu.
if anyone knows pls advise. ill post up my theme to push to framework soon. thanks!

What are you using to push?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
easiest for me has been to use Android Commander. You have to 1. Run Shell root from superoneclick 2. Mount the system RW 3. open android commander and push what u want.
Try this tool.
Place your modified Framework-Res.apk into the extracted folder.
Plug your Phone into your computer with USB Debug enabled and charge only selected. ( do not mount SD card )
Then click change framework.
Your phone will reboot and you should not have any bootloops
note :you must have ADB
i tried that framework updater and its still bootlooping me. I know the process to get the popup menu panel text color to change BUT when i make my edits and recompile it craps out along the way somewhere... im trying a bunch of diff things... looks like i have project on my hands.
figured it out... i was overlooking the simplist thing in the world... i was forgetting to copy the Original Meta INF and Androi....xml to the apk... i need a vacation... i got the menu text white so now i start with my fun work.
