I managed a fully working voice commands for my huawei ideos. Thanks goes to 89luca89 from androidiani.com his version of the zip doesn't work on every device due to the lack of gscript.
so here's my version, I think it should work an any froyo device, just flash it and try it.
http://senotones.blogspot.com/2011/02/voice-commands-offline-on-froyo.html
If I flash and I want to revert for whatever reason, do I need to revert to a backup image, reflash my rom or is there some other way to uninstall?
you should be able to remove it by deleting the VsuiteApp.apk and GScript.apk in /system/app well I'm not sure because I use it often and I don't need to remove it.
I can try later
Thanks, just want to gather up the basics before I do an article (here) on this as this sounds pretty good.
What would make it golden (other than not needing root etc) to me at least is if you could somehow map the thing to be triggered by the wired headset buttons of most/all phones/nexuses and/or bluetooth.
Guess I should test it out before I start making suggestions. Thanks man. I tossed it on my server for you, let me know if you want me to take it down or if you've got another version: mirror.batteryboss.org/signed-Voice.zip
That would be FANTASTIC !!! What about a short video on youtube to demo what you achieved ?
I can try to make an apk with bt trigger next week. this zip is a leak that 89luca89 get from motorola devices.
can you explain what this app does ? I am looking for a old fashion voice dialer (which records a voice tag for each contact and then dials that number).
I am sick of crappy google voice recognition which always gets it wrong.
bump.........
this allow you to use voice commands to recall some function.
for example, once you run it, it waits your input and if you say: "calls john" it try to call john if john has only one number, if john has mobile and home, voice commands ask you wich number you want to call.
You can say so "calls John mobile" or "call 03236548"
or you can invoice some app "run gmail" and it opens gmail
the voice recognition is pretty good, you can also teach voice command to recognize your own voice
gave you some press.. mobilitydigest.com/offline-voice-commanding-for-android
thanks man

@zicoxx can you tell exactly what's the error log?
nitro-ale, does this app works (recognise the command) even using a language other than English ?
I'm using it in italian
any way to get it to work like old cell phone voice dialing ? i.e. you save a voice name for a phone number and then it dials that number when you speak it in bluetooth.
I really hate android's voice recognition, that never gets to recognize my accented voice. not to mention that it requires data.
I really think it's a good app, it recognizes 80% of my portuguese language. But in order to recognise 100% we must enter "adaptation" menu and repeat sereral words and phrases. Here, i cannot pass the "say 237354483" (number not the same...lol). App says to repeat the numbers and then it says that time expired....sadly...anything that you could do?? Say, record same things in the computer and then export into the folder?
Seems strange I Will take a look sorry I have no time at all in these days

Hey Guys,
Was hoping for a bit of constructive feedback. Wrote an app called NameBuzz:
A new concept in incoming Caller ID and SMS ID technology. Silently know who's calling, without your phone leaving your pocket!
- Vibrate pattern based on syllables in contact name
- Create custom vibrate patterns per contact
- Speak contact name out loud
- Vibrate on call end
- Press volume key to disable during call
Click to collapse
The idea is that with only 5 or so people calling you regularly, their syllables should be enough for you to differentiate between people. And if not, you can always create a custom vibrate pattern for that contact!
As an extra, it also allows you to set up speaking caller ID - for the situations where you don't need your phone to be silent!
You can install with the following link:
NameBuzz Install
It's only tested in English for the time being, and on a Nexus One and Desire Z (HTC Vision).
If anyone gives it a go, feel free to let me know what you think!
Cheers,
Daz.
Cyrket link for all who are on a PC right now with screens : http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.dazbradbury.namebuzz/
Thanks, and here is an appbrain link (good for remote install):
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.dazbradbury.namebuzz
Although, Cyrket does always seem more up to date.
Nice app! If only the voice was more enjoyable not so roboty if possible. The buzzing will take some time to learn, especially if you have friends with similar names..
AIM mobile IM = buzzing out of control!

I think it should be fairly intuitive, as you can work out the number of syllables, and then the name. I would use the testing function a little to familiarise yourself.
AIM mobile IM = buzzing out of control!

This shouldn't buzz out of control, it will be the pattern of:
Buzz-Pause-Buzz-Buzz-Pause-Buzz - and then repeat.
AIM-space- Mob -ile -space-IM
So AIM = 1 syllable
Mobile = 2 syllables
IM = 1 syllable.
And I put little breaks in to break up words. Does that make sense?
could always use morse code for the vibrate patterns
I think I will try this.

Hi,
Yeh, the problem with morse code is that it would take forever to spell out a name entirely. Plus, someone has already done this. Look for "MorseRing".

Awesome, thanks! However, I guess you should warn people I've only tested this in english, and I coded the text-to-syllable engine to only really work with english letters. Hence, I'm not really sure how it will perform in german! Special accented characters that should be treated as syllable indicators probably won't get picked up...
Let me know if you give it a go, would be interested to know if it's really bad, or just not perfect!

Thanks for the offer, unfortunately, it's a little more tricky than that. I use certain knowledge about english to turn words into a number of syllables. Hence, it's not really a translation as such. I will have a think... if I can make into a translatable list, I will be sure to let you know!!

Is it just me or is this App no longer available in the Market? I've tried numerous barcodes and looked under Tools but only get told the app cannot be found.
Is there an actual install file available I can download so I can install this manually? I had it on my phone but my phone died and took the program with it.

I think I found the problem with this app not showing up in the Market for me. My phone was missing an update and once I performed it, NameBuzz showed up and installed without a glitch.
Great app. Makes phone calls a little easier to screen.
NameBuzz 1.2 now available:
- Works in collaboration with in-built ringer state. If your phone is in silent, it won't vibrate/speak, if in vibrate mode, it will vibrate but not speak, etc...
- Disabled during Call Waiting - simply provides call waiting tone rather than vibrating.
- Add custom speech text (ie. Incoming Call from Joe Bloggs)
- Added ability to set silent ringtone.

Hey guys!
I developed TalkMyPhone, an open-source app that enables you to control your phone from google talk. It's like android-notifier on steroids, since it brings almost the same features and you don't need wifi/bluetooth enabled.
I can't post links since I'm new here. Google for talkmyphone or look for it on the market.
Developers: I'm open to contributions
Users: please use the issue tracker for suggesting features
I don't have many non-french users since the info did not spread very well outside of french blogs, so I'm posting it here. I hope someone will find it useful and write something about it.

The 2 solutions work. Talking to yourself is possible in gmail, but you cannot initiate the conversation, so in this case, best is to use a third party client like pidgin. Otherwise you can set up a second account. Any standard jabber account is possible.
Accounts delivered at jabber.org are *very* easy to get. You don't need to give your email address, you don't need to sign an agreement. You just have to fill a captcha to prove you're human.

Weird. Some unlucky people experiment bugs like this one. I don't know where this comes from, and I try to improve the code. It works 100% of the time for me, so all I can do is look at 'adb logcat' traces users leave on the bugtracker. If you wish to do so, it might improve your chances to see this fixed

Pretty Neat
I was able to go on Google Talk on my PC and send messages to my phone. The copy:text feature I can definitely see myself using so that I don't have to type long URLs in the browser. The other functions seem like they would be nice if you lost your phone or if it was stolen. Overall a pretty neat app! Thanks!

What next...
When you start the app on the phone, make sure you input your google information and then start the app. If you have Google Talk up on your PC, it should pop up a window for you to type commands into (talk to/control your phone). It did for me anyway. Type a "?" to get a list of the commands...

Hmm, I did all this. Let me see where the issue is:
My phone's Google account is set to [email protected].
I put in [email protected] and my password into TalkMyPhone.
I start up TalkMyPhone and it logs in -- successfully.
I go to my PC and log into gmail on [email protected].
I message from my PC ([email protected]) to my phone ([email protected]).
I get the message but nothing happens with TalkMyPhone.
Can you tell me where the issue is?
i entered in all of my information too and nothing seems to work, the app says loging in .. then that its successful. but then nothing can be done from there.
i cant even log in
i always get the message: "login failed" and then "stopping service"
i tried setting it on "use the phones account settings"
then i turned that off, and manually put in my gmail-settings - still didnt work
Same issues over here... Got it all connected, reciving messages from the phone works fine, too (welcome, battery, incomming callings) but sending commands doesn't work for me.
Got a HTC Magic/Sapphire with CM6 (2.2) running on it.
I had the same problem. I changed the GTalk Port to 5222 and entered my ****@googlemail.com instead of ****@gmail.com
Works perfect on my HD2 (Android ) Thank you!
When I log in on phone i get this gTalk message on my pc from my own account:
Welcome to TalkMyPhone. Send "?" for getting help
Battery level 78%
Works just perfect...

do i need to have the real gtalk installed on my computer?
doesnt applications like trillian for windows work?
I tried Pidgin and it works but I use the GMail-Chat because it's my info hub
Anyways, great work chm.duquesne, this is a really great application.
Now there just needs to be a way in GTalk to turn off the chat notification in Android for a single contact
// Edit
The "where" feature is really awesome, mate.
Nothing serious but the reply feature does not work for me. When I received a SMS and I type "reply:This is my reply" it answers "No match for "+491234567890" (the number being the correct number, of course).

thank you so much for sharing this app with the community. I have been fooling around with it for half an hour or so and it does some pretty awesome things. LOVE the in-car feature, completely hands-free and works perfectly, even reads and writes text messages for me. "hey vlingo"
Edit: Forgot to add, very accurate, even with names
Wow, the incar mode is really REALLY good. Anybody know how to have it differentiate between a contacts home and cell when sending a text message?
Say call blah blah mobile. That should work.

Google's voice search sucked at recognizing what I was saying for the first week or so, but then it got a lot better. I'm wondering if it learns your voice or something. Vlingo, on the other hand, worked well on day one. However, while it does a good job of recognizing what I am saying, it doesn't always give me the results I wanted. For instance, movie times never come up even though that's one of the examples the app shows, and it displays my exact phrase correctly (movie times near #####). It just says "No answer found". And I've also had trouble getting it to dial the right phone number for a contact. It's like it ignores when I say "mobile."
I'm having the same problem. It ignores when I say "mobile" after the contacts name. My g/f is getting irritated with the text to landline messages that repeat "test" lol
Is it necessary to install the standard Vlingo app before installing the incar pack?
I´ve been trying to download the installer but i still cant find it, it´s not in the market either.
It would be much if I ask to share the installer?

anyway to successfully have this running in the background with the in-car? Currently it seems that the program has to be on main screen for me to say "Hey Vlingo" and it wakes...
Plus..too bad I cant say Jarvis to have it wake up
Instead of 'mobile' try saying 'cell'.

Right now the best way is to make two contacts for the person and label one cell and one home after the name. Best workaround at the moment.

Yeah, I went ahead and did that the other day, but thanks! Hopefully that will get sorted.
It would be nice if you could ask it to use your GV # by default as well.
i wonder if there is any way to train a contact that it gets wrong every time. Wifes name is tricky and unless i use her last name first it misses it every time.

Nice handy app. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I'd also advise users of avast to make a paper copy of at least a few important commands other than LOST or FOUND and keep them in their wallet or purse, or somewhere handy. I made myself a complete list and carry on me at all times. You never know when you're going to need them and asking a friend to install your app might not be feasible at the moment you need those commands.
Sent from my ADR6350
That is the main reason, why I put this app together. I don't want to carry avast commands on a piece of paper in my wallet.
there's only one problem with your app, it's only for android. if i lost my phone, my friend can't use this app because he has an iphone. some of my friends don't even have a smart phone yet because these devices scare them. for me, a paper copy in the pocket is infinitely more handy. not trying to troll, just saying a! commands has limited usage, especially after the phone is already lost and your android friends aren't available. paper can activate avast from any mobile phone and even google voice.

After the last update, I cannot see a full list of commands.
What is the command to stop CC Calls?
I made a small apk which can forward a dial request from Google Voice to the Joying BT Dial app.
the following patterns get stripped out to make it work: " ", "-", "(0)", "(", ")", "."
There is no launchable activity so you cant see it in launcher, it is only visible by the installed apps list in settings.
On first use:
- In the result of Google Voice search (where it repeats your command and call the dialer) you need to choose the new dialer with the 3-dot menu button. the choice is sticky on future calls as long as you dont change it back again.
- And you need to grant Call Permission to it and redo your voice search on the first time.
- You can use a contact management app too (like google contacts), just make my app the default dialer and it should work.
the app is available in Play Store:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.judlis.googlevoicecallhandler4joying
i will post the source code when i think it is stable enough.
One important note:
If you keep seeing a window with 1 input field containing the number and 2 buttons "Make Call" and "Cancel" please report me the exact content of the input field and, if it is not a valid phone number to dial, the number with minimal changes it needs to be valid. Use "x" instead of numbers to keep privacy of the phone contact.

I looked at writing an app for this about a year ago. I ended up making a modification to the paid app "Tablet Talk" so it would perform the same function. I bought it to allow SMS capabilities on the head unit, but it was able to be modified to also perform this same function. Since it was a paid app, I did not distribute the apk, just instructions on how to modify the app.

Great to see an easy way for users to get this to work without having to buy an app and modifying it. I will give it a try when it is in the app store.
Nice work!

Yes, i used your instructions too before i made this one, thanks.
By the way, Google has approved and enabled the app this morning. So it is availavle now.
Same here: had to install a paid voice assistant (non-modified though) which is able to make "built-in" Joying dialer dial a contact (on non-rooted HU). "OK Google" could not. Still on 1 week demo period. Pity it can not be widely recommended since it only works with my local language (Dusi Assistant). Off: funny it can report news, weather, location, launch navi already with destination, tell anecdotes, call mom etc, manage tasker tasks and other scripts etc. - rather powerful assistant.
Thanks for the app - the link is already alive, will try it shortly (+1).
I've just installed and tried the app, but when Google started dialing there is "Start of Joying BT App failed" error message.
Should HU be rooted for app to work? Mine is not. I used Android settings to allow the app using phone (the only option there), have chosen the app as a default dialer, but no success. I did not do " redo your voice search on the first time" recomendation since did not quite get what exactly is to be done. Tried dialing several times.

on which rom version is your HU? i assume you did not replace the Joying BT apk as you did not install any superuser.
root is not needed.
i upload a modified version which rethrows the exception "joying bt activity not found" so you can report it to play store and i can get it. (should be on play store in about 1 to 3 hours, if you force to research for updates)
My HU is on September latest rom version. I will download modified app and report the state in hour or two, thank you.

Have just sent error report (2 times, under "Error" and "Error2 the same error") using udated application. Hope it can help understand what's wrong with my setup, thank you.

Now it goes one step further: phone number with + prefix is shown at top left together with two buttons like dial and canceal and then says "Joying BT app not found" and there is no option to send a report. I could press dial button again having again that error message.

ok, i am sorry about that.
lets try one more approach. you can find a new version in Play Store.
if this does not do the trick, i will have to debug this with same conditions as yours on my end i think.
Yesss, now it works!
It is not as fast as Dusi in starting the dialing itself - one can feel some background struggle with built-in BT (which shows at screen top like icons flicker), but it does the trick. Just great, you've done it, thank you so much!

you are welcome! i am happy that it works for you now and thank you for the testing!
can you tell me in what kind of format your phone numbers are? mine are in int. format like +41 99 999 99 99. but there are a lot formats depending of localization, not sure if i got all variants.
and if you use a phone book app like Google Contacts or something similar if you can initiate a call from there?
for all others who try out the app, please report here :
- the format of phone numbers you are using
- and if you use a phone book app like Google Contacts or some similar app if you can make a call from it.
thanks
As to phone format here, it is as follows: if we want to make it kind of "readable", it can look like +7(916)123-45-67 or 8(916)123-4567.
But what surprizes me is how phonenumbers are currently shown in my Galaxy S6 phone: +79161234567 - no any characters to spoil the dialing process, but before your app Google could not really dial those on Joying HU, was only pretending it dials. It was/is OK with dialing by voice on phone itself.
Thank you again, it was a major hole in Joying basic functionality.

+79161234567 is the international format which works, we will see if other formats are used by google too.
if the would be passed from Google Voice Command to the Joying app in exactly this format it would work out of the box.
But the problem is that Google Voice Command reformat the numbers before passing it to Joying depending of the Region with caracters like minus sign, dot or spaces what the Joying app did not like.
thanks for sharing your informations.
Just an observation, I can not explain this: on the first attempt (after wake-up) to voice call a contact no factory BT is initiated. Begins to work from the second try. Pity I mostly need only one outcoming call per drive.

strange thing, i never had this on my unit.
may be a timing problem, but no clue where.
are there any (error) messages?
at which point exactly does it stop?
or whats the exact difference compared to the working case?
can you try the following:
- open the Joying bt-app
- make sure it has connection to your phone
- go to home screen
- try to dial out with google voice command
first of all thanks for the app, would be really nice if the make call button have not need to be press to finalize the process.

should not be needed, just if i am unsure if phone numer is formatted correct.
can you please tell me the exact content in the input field and where you are located? have you stored the numbers in international format?
