[Q] Port Windows Phone 7 Keyboard or use the sounds to/with Android? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maybe the Keyboard port is unlikely, but we should at least be able to use the sounds in the Keyboard? Anyone wanna help?

SUOND WINDOWS PHONE http://www.mediafire.com/?2ads0drj47h8ai7 .CAF

You could do that... you'd have to build the entire keyboard from scratch, build a dictionary that's as good as Windows' dictionary, and it'd likely still have the lag that most of the better keyboards on android have...

Maybe not a keyboard, but what about extrecting the sounds?

Even if you put the sounds onto an android device, the trick that wp7 has is that it does not play the same sound each time you hit a key, it cycles through several tones. To get the android keyboard to sound the same you would have to find a way to copy that trick.

You could probably just skin a keyboard app on Android to look like the WP7 keyboard.

Works somewhat, need someone to try and fix it
I found WP7 sound files here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840898
I used free http://alternativeto.net/software/formatfactory/about
to convert wp7 keyboard sound file .wav to .ogg
with root access, mount R/W, replace stock files in:
/system/media/audio/ui/
KeypressDelete.ogg
KeypressReturn.ogg
KeypressSpacebar.ogg
KeypressStandard.ogg
KbdAccentPicker.wav - didn't use
KbdFunction.wav - sound the same as spacebar.wav
KbdKeyTap.wav - converted, renamed to KeypressStandard.ogg , KeypressDelete.ogg
KbdSpacebar.wav - converted, renamed to KeypressSpacebar.ogg
I haven't figure out what is the right converting setting so that new file would work correctly (bitrate maybe?). When type fast, the sound couldn't keep up. Hope someone can help!
Attachment has all the files needed, original wp7 & android file, and the converted & renamed .ogg

I notice the lag also happens when the settings are changed using Kii keyboard. I too wonder what is causing the delay and lag

Lock sounds

I have been able to customize every sound for my phone except the sound when my phone locks or unlock. Has anyone found the file that needs to be modified in order to change that? I have tried to use many of the lockscreen replacement apps, but none habe satisfied what I'm looking for. TIA.

replace the unlock.ogg with whatever .ogg file you want to use inside the system/media/audio/ui folder. I used my droid.ogg for each time i unlocked the screen, but make sure its the same file name as the one your replacing or it won't work.
edit: I uploaded the droid.ogg file, just rename it to Unlock.ogg before you paste it into the system/media/audio/ui folder.
Hope this helps
be sure to unzip it first lol
I have tried to change these files with no success. What exactly is a .ogg file? Will any media file work if I change the extension to .ogg? ie: .mp3 to .ogg? Thanks

you need to convert not rename the audio files to .ogg for the phone to play specific unlock/lock sounds.
I have mine set to Ep2 Lightsaber open/close

the .ogg file is inside the .zip i attached, i just can't attach it as an actual file since XDA doesn't allow that format unless its zipped
rename droid.ogg to unlock.ogg
i've done this many times before with all the ROMs i've used and it works as long as its a Froyo rom since it was added in 2.2 for the Incredible.
.ogg is a format thats open source, playable on WinAMP, VLC, and GOM player.
if you need to convert a file that you don't have in .ogg format, use this link to upload it and convert it online.
http://media.io/
it will ask you to browse for the file you want converted, then it will ask you what format you want to convert it to
Hope that helps, if so, please click "Thanks"
I know I posted this in the other lock sounds thread, but I thought I would post it here to for those that may be watching this thread for an answer.
SUCCESS! I was actually able to use a different site using my phone. http://www.online-convert.com/
I then used root explorer to rename and copy the file into the correct system folder. Works great now. My only complaint is that it seems I can't control the volume of the lock/unlock sounds I chose using any of the volume settings. It's always on full blast unless I set to silent or vibrate. Any ideas? Thanks.

I dont think you can adjust the volume of the unlock UI notification within of the basic controls of the volume (RT/Media/Alarm). Only thing i can think of is editing the sound file to a lower volume you can use most audio editors/mixers to do that. Then convert/overwrite
2cents
SUCCESS AGAIN!! I did some research and found out you can change the system volume, which controls the lock sounds, via an app called Audio Manager. I just used the free widget version and lowered my system volume by one or two. Works great. I don't personally use the widget portion of the app. Thanks for everyone's help on this. Hope my trials help someone else find the answers they need.

[APP] Samsung Keyboard Keypress Sounds For HTC IME

Hi all!!
I post here this folder contains the samsung keyboard keys sounds that you can use in your HTC IME instead of the default HTC sound ( I think that Samsung sound is better than HTC's one )!!
To apply them,put this folder into your sd card or into system folder; then open HTC IME settings, go to Sound&Vibration, check 'custom sounds' and copy the correct Samsung sounds addresses into the voices: 'Normal key','Space','Backspace', 'Enter'! (files estension .ogg). I dont' know why the 4 Samsung sounds are the same..no difference..so if you prefer have different sound during keyboard use..you can use a mix of this sounds and the HTC's ones.
I hope you enjoy your new keyboard sound!!
Hey man does this work only with HTC? I have a rooted i9300 running CM11 and I was wondering if I could use these sounds over the crappy KitKat key press sounds.
Thanks!
Thanksssssss, I was looking for a long time, but Just now I can change the keypress sound to my device. Because the keypress sound that I had it, did don't like for me . Thanks ?
Not working I placed in system/media/audio/ui

TouchOSC for Android 3.1 XOOM??

Hi buddies, maybe some know the work that Hexler.net have been doing with the TouchOSC app, to mapp and configure music software to use the ipad for music production and live acts, but the sad of this is that he to "busy" with the iOS and leave the Android a side, so for this reason i wonder if there some way configure the TouchOSC for android to import some layouts from the page or maybe create a soft that works like it??
Thanx for reading, hope some answers.
Seeya!
wow! Really nobody has a clue? Or just doesnt want to try something? Nn
Ok thanx.
So you want to use iPad layouts on the android app?

Yes, or maybe just sync the editor for ipad with the tablet to import the custom layouts, and later we can progeam it on Pure Data for the midi controller, with the tablet.
Cause i think its no fare to have such a great OS and device, and be limited by the iOS.
I wonder if maybe when the Layouts have been instaled in the iOS it saves on some folder like XML, if this is corret maybe we can copied to Android and configure in Pure Data.
What you think buddies???
Any Djs around here interesting in this great app to midi production, dj set an Live acts??
you wont see very many, if any, pro music apps on android. not until they fix the delay. (i believe there is a delay in the sound driver, or something of that nature)
i dont know how to explain in better detail, but thats why you wont see a better version of touchOSC, and hexler basically is ignoring questions til google fixes android.

in fact yes has some delay but we can handle, the thing is that theyre making money with Apple, cause we got the chance to be same as apple. Now im working with some people from other forum and finally got full screen menus, now we are trying to figure out how to set the layouts full screen to.
Can any Dev please help me, im not a dev so for me is hard but im trying. Just need some piece of code an look for something that are refering to a Size layout o modify to get full increen in the layouts. I got the menus fullscreen, just need the layout please! one step closer to full funtionality in xoom tablet please!
here is the link is the code .Smali files Code decoded
Heck, I wish there was a way to just set our own resolution!! The XML file right now is useing a 0 or a 1 to determine if it is being used on a iPad or iPhone/iPod.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<layout version="9" mode="1" orientation="horizontal">
<tabpage name="MQ==">
</tabpage>
</layout>
This does not make much sense to me when it could have been made to use resolution. For example the Nook Color tablet uses a resolution of 1024x600.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<layout version="9" resolution="1024x600" orientation="horizontal">
<tabpage name="MQ==">
</tabpage>
</layout>
I am interested in this as I want to use TouchOSC to send serial commands to help control things in a robotics application.
I found this bit of code if it helps at all.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="@+id/content1"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:background="#ff99ccff"
>
</LinearLayout>
i try it with the piece of code you paste but nothing i think that the "problem" is on the Java i mean maybe the dev has a portection or a layer over the GUI Layout. I have been working in group with other user (no dev or prog) and we made a Splash-About screen go full screen and the menus.
But the only left is the Layout buttons, we are guessing the code must have somenthing in the ControlView.smali or in the TabPage.smali (java code).
We still looking forward.
Greetings

Hey bro! I´m with the same problem like you. Soy de Mexico!

I CANT POST LINKS( I AM NEW)
I am sick of hexlers ignoring andoroid version. I patiently waited for 6 months to release full andorid version.
So here is HOW TO PUT YOUR LAYOUT:
-download this multiupload.com/GXW01G6URJ
-place TOUCHOSC apk here "place-apk-here-for-modding"
-double click Script.bat
-chose 1
-now extract with winrara your TOUCHOSC layout and copy index.xml file
-go to apk_manager_4.9/project/touchosc folder and paste index.xml to assets/Beatmachine.touchosc
-now go to script.bat window and chose 5
basically you need to zip it and sign it again(I think number 5 should do it), havent done this for 6 months.
-I think your signed apk is here "apk_manager_4.9/place-apk-here-for-modding"
And on hexlers forum some guy manage to zoom layout so it take a full screen on tablet devices.
sad so sad
for good and free traktor layout go to this blog androidosc.blogspot.com
too much work!
all you have to do for custom layouts is...
1. make "yourlayout" in touchosc editor.
2. create a new folder name "yourlayout".touchosc on desktop or somewhere else so it doesn't conflict with the original file
3. open the "yourlayout".touchosc that the editor made as a .zip file
4. extract the index.xml file to the folder created in step 2.
5. copy this folder over USB/SD to Android device
6. use a file explorer with root access to then copy the folder to /data/data/net.hexler.touchosc/app_touchosc_layouts/
it will show up in the list of layouts on touchosc for android without hacking/signing APKs and all this...

Yes in fact in in the Hexler forum "workin" (its more like guessing) how to do things work. Some good results but no the one we want. really is sad how hexler takes more care about iOS and updates than Android, they dont see all the people in the android side asking for something or given help to make it better than the iOS version.
...and hacky fullscreen?
Just use an "LCD Density" changer app off the market to temp. change your "resolution". run touchosc. reboot to go back to normal res. when your done.
Thanks for the help there with layouts! Do you guys know how easy it is to set up Serial Commands in that Touch OSC editor?
Tom in AZ...
just get one of these "Seeeduino ADK Main Board" and an RC shield. Its official now in Android 2.3.4 or 3.1 with the Open Accessory Dev. Kit. and make your own app.
...or if you really wanna USE touchOSC you could probably get a WIFI shield and an Arduino and just decode the OSC to whatever with that.
Sorry to bring this post back from the dead...but I just got 3.0 on the hannspad. However, the TouchOSC interface is very small...tried LCD Desinty changer and it kinda works...but its not ideal.
Am I missing something? Is there specific layouts or something Im doing wrong?
Any help would be awesome...its the only reason I actually bought the tablet...plus there isnt really anywhere else talking about it!
Cheers folks

Kudos to you my friend, Worked Perfectly.
Cheers for posting
Ok so, the post come back to life. Yesterday i got the TouchOSC v1.2 update, and finally we got:
Scale to fit screen (optional)
Multitouch Support (diveces that support it)
Wake lock and wifi lock to keep screen and network on
This great mayor to the update are incredible but now we have another problem...
theres no "app_Touchosc_Layouts" folder to "hack" the layouts we made now think this is a great step back, because when we dont have the fullscreen, we can at least make our personal layouts and figure out how to fit the screen. But now just let us with 5 layouts .
Somebody has an idea of what can we do to have our personal layouts again?
Thanks for read.

[How-to] sound on boot and UI sounds

Big thanks to Biggoron.
This shouldn't effect your phone or harm it but if you screw it up its not my fault always have a backup.
I figured Id do a how to for some new people or those who never thought of this. Anyways....
1. You'll need some kind of root viewer root explorer es file manager etc. (Make sure your system is rewritable)
2. A .wav file is needed so find one you like however if you don't have one or only have a mp3 then use an online converter.
3.Once you have those two go into your root file viewer and find /system then go into the etc file and scroll down until you see a PowerOn.wav if you don't see one then it's fine. However go ahead and delete it and paste your .Wav file sound and rename it to PowerOn.wav Reboot and you should hear your sound playing. I if not your phone sucks ^^ no but then you did something wrong or your kernel may not support it.
UI Sounds
Okay for UI sounds it very similiar except go into the media folder in /system find audio and look in UI folder. For (the touch sound) find TW_Touch.ogg and delete it and paste your .ogg file you'd liked to use I personally just rename the Effect_Tick.ogg to TW_Touch and it sounds like the normal gingerbread touch tone. (Charger Connection Sound) is the Charger_Connection.ogg and the the full battery notification is TW_Battery_caution and lastly the low battery notification is TW_Low_Battery.
Just reboot and the new sounds shall take effect.
Have fun wasting some time customizing your phone.
Big dog Infuse I997 GB KJ4, KK2 modem
great tips thank you! I'll give this a try one my class is done

[Q] how do i change clicking sound?

Hi guys,
maybe for most of you the clicking sound "chick chick" isn't annoying but it's too loud and hurts my senses especially using ear phones...
I have a very cool clicking sound file from my old Samsung mobile... I would want to change default to that and lower it's volume...
Anyone know where is the wav file located for that clock sound in our Roms?
That mp3 located in system/media/audio/ui/
yeah thanks.. I figured it out already yesterday...
How is the selection done from the files within the directory? Do we replace the file with our own with the same filename? Because I changed from one rom (Omega 16.2) to another (Omega 9.2) and I saved in my pc the folder /system/media/audio/ui from both roms to compare them. Although both roms have (almost) the same files in the directory, the touch sound (which is the one I want to change) is different. So how do I choose which file the system uses for each operation?
EDIT: I am using Samsung Galaxy SII, I got here from a link from another thread. I will post this to the proper forum again, although the system is the same
