[KEYBOARD] Windows Phone 7 Styled Keyboard *Low-Res Added* (CWM3 added) (5-24-11) - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

Windows Phone 7 Styled Keyboard for Android
(Based off HTC IME mod)
This is a simple keyboard made to look like the Windows Phone 7 keyboard. I am an Android Enthusiast, so I couldn't switch to WP7 just for the keyboard, so I just made my own. Confirmed working on Gingerbread and Froyo, so I'm assuming it should work on 2.2, 2.1, etc. It not please leave in comments. Screenshots are attached, if you like it click thanks!
*EDIT* Some people have said it is not working on Low-Res phones. I will make a Low-Res and post it below.
HIGH-RES PHONES ONLY
Download Keyboard (has DROID on Space) (it's an apk file so just install like any other app): http://www.mediafire.com/?n982pf2fo56s4rf
Keyboard WITHOUT DROID Logo on Keyboard, it is just a blank SpaceBar: http://www.mediafire.com/?g8bzntfu59i0rvo

Download (Low-Res Phones):http://www.mediafire.com/?y03yg5ot9tqzvt0
Windows Phone 7 Click Sound Instructions (MUST BE ROOTED):

---b. Download this ZIP File (CWM3): http://www.mediafire.com/?0a2mbsaffgr56g2
2. Flash in Recovery (Just like you would flash a ROM)
3. Go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > HTC_IME mod (settings) > Text Input > Check "Sound feedback"
4. Go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > HTC_IME mod (settings) > Sound & vibration > Check "Custom Sounds"
5. Insert this for Normal Key

It's not a skin, it's a full separate keyboard. So no it shouldn't replace anything, unless you already have the HTC IME mod keyboard installed, then it might replace that, I haven't tried though.

Unfortunately no, the click sound is not part of the keyboard in any phone, it is inside the phone's system at /system/media/audio/ui. If you could find the WP7 keyboard sound and make an .ogg file out of it then you could theoretically replace those to get the right sound.

If you want though, I'll try and make a quick flashable zip to get the sounds, I just got them working on mine. But if you know how to use adb I can give you those instructions also.

Stupid question, but would this work on any Android phone? How about a Samsung Galaxy S (Epic)?

As far as I know it should work on any Android phone, yes.

anyway to take the droid logo off i got an evo.. a space bar is fine jij

I've been waiting for something like this. But I've always wondered, is there a way to remove the microphone/settings key? It's really annoying to keep bumping. Right now I use Smart Keyboard Pro and I removed it.

Hi,
1) does it have layouts for other languages? - Czech for example?
2) Is it possible to remove Droid text on space bar?
Thanks

Could you add a option to change the droid logo to htc logo?

got here from pocketnow I'm usually over in the Glacier forums, but this keyboard is sexy, so I thought I'd say thanks!

It says problem parsing package when i try to install shucks i was looking forward to it lol

HTC_IME for Nexus One [Pixelated Version]

http://drop.io/p12auxn#
I'm not 100% sure this is it since I don't have my Nexus One yet so I need someone willing to test.
I found it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dFh9RKsN6w&feature=player_embedded
This is the same one that's pixelated on the Nexus One. Also, doesn't stretch the full screen in landscape mode.
It is still the pixelated version. That wouldn't even bother me that much if the correction bar on the top fit on the screen and wasn't horribly warped.
Damn sorry then. The one in the video looks good though.
do you need to be rooted for this? Because I tried it using an appinstaller. It shows up in the clicker, but when I create new messages, it reverts back to the stock google keyboard.
You have to go into the settings and enable it, then when you're in a message box click the box and hold, then select "input method". You can alternate between the 2.
haha ya i forgot to do the "hold" part in the message box. thanks!
pixelated...but at least i don't have to switch back n forth for numbers and punctuations. can't wait for the non-pixelated version w/ microphone key =)

We'll need a high-res 2.1 SenseUI device to come out - probably need to wait for a Bravo leak.
Yep, works fine on N1 running MCR1.1 but pixelated. Will have to live with that for a while as it still beats the hell out of the standard Android keyboard...
Is the file linked from youtube the same as this file?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567294
So I emailed HTC to find out if they will update the htc_ime.apk so that it will work on the nexus or look properly I should say. I am currently waiting for a response... let you guys know when I get a reply. I will post it.

Ha good luck with that. They won't update it until they release a phone with the Hi-Res Sense UI.
Most likely we'll have to wait until a bravo dump is leaked or another sense UI device w/ a hi res screen's dump is leaked.
I'm running HTC_IME on the N1.... its great to have it back, only complaint is the lack of the dedicated 'microphone' key thats in the default keyboard... so AFAIK once you install HTC_IME you can NOT dictate text messages and the like
Does anyone know how to edit the dictionary for htc ime?
I don't know about editing words but you can erase it by going into your settings > applications > keyboard > clear data.
I installed this and it works great but my only issue-request would be to add more languages. The option is there, when you go to settings from inside the keyboard, but unfortunately, only english is available.
In the past, people have made language packs...could someone do on for this? pleeeeeeeease?
Thanks,
Lou
I used to change com.htc.android.htcime_preferences.xml file to enable dual language on my htc ime. I was wondering if this can be changed in the apk before installing. I dont want to root my nexus.
Thanks

[App] HTC_IME Mod v27 for EVO

So I flashed Flipz Rom, and fell in love with the HTC_ime keyboard mod that doesnt include the arrows that the stock HTC keyboard does... I flashed Damagecontrol and it didn't include it, so I went hunting for it and found it in the N1 forums.
-No arrows to get in your way like the stock keyboard
-Very customizable
All credit goes to jonasl from the Nexus One Forums
Original N1 Thread
Direct Download for the HTC_Ime for the EVO
Screenshots:
installed, works. thanks!
Do you need to be rooted? For this mod to work? I'm on unrooted stock Rom.. installed it but the arrow keys are still intact.

Its not a mod. Its a whole different keyboard. You have to activate it in the settings and then long press on any text field and change it from Touch Input to this.
Thanks... finally got it to work. I totally forgot to long press
@Auramaster, great find... Thanks
Anytime guys, just trying to help the Evo community
Oh my,......this is much better,....thank you!!

Tap uninstall and then go back and Install it. I believe this removes the older version of HTC_IME then you install the skin version

So does it make the other buttons grow a lil or they are the same size, but the directional buttons are just gone.
If I rename the file and keep the same extension will it load up ok? It should right?
tried this but don't like it.. eventhough it removed the arrow keys, but it's missing the "hide keyboard" key. I use that often when typing in username password on websites that are zoomed in..
^ Hitting back removes the keyboard if it's up. Just saying, so no need for the keyboard drop down button.
I simply assigned swipe-down gesture to hide the keyboard. Convenient.

Hey,
Great looking app, can't wait to try it out.
Just installed it to my Desire HD (stock rom, 1.72 firmware) via adb and whenever I try to add the widget to my home screen, it tells me "no more room on this homescreen". This is with LauncherPRO.
On restart of my phone I also got a message saying that the process had crashed and had to force close. (app loads fine however, just not able to put the widget on)
Any suggestions?
I just tried it on my galaxy s it says no enough romm in this page in both launcher pro and touchwiz.
When i open the app it force close and keep doing the same.
I really want this watch but no luck.

There was no need to use adb! It's similar to stock but not same app. The widget will occupy the whole screen. Did you have another shortcuts on the screen when u tried?

Thanks man , looks great and attractive to me . Will give it a try now.
Btw can this directly be installed from the market? Unlike other apps which require root access plus fiddling with the adb process and commands?

Heh, only reason I used adb was because I downloaded the apk on my desktop, and my phone was plugged in but not mounted. I'm lazy like that XD
And yeah, I tried it on an empty home screen, so no other widgets on it.

Great Work!!
It's me or there isn't a way to have it orange by now?
Thanks
Hey Adam, I've been toying around with the launcher pro settings, just found, your widget uses a 5x5 layout currently which may be why many people are having issues not being able to add this to a home screen since the default is 4x4.
Any chance of a 4x4 version?
Cheers

MILocker (MIUI Lockscreen application for any ROM)

This works great on Note:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390934
Enjoy!!!
It works great but many screens are not Note-friendly due to the resolution :-(
Very nice App. MIUI Lockscreens are the best. But I tried about 10 different mtz - and not even one has been displayed correct. Someone should customise some locks for this resolution
I tried it and it froze my phone. I had to pull the battery to restart it.
I prefer my stock lockscreen but thanks for the info
can we have the data monitor app from MIUI?
have you guys tried the lidroid rom yet, check it out it has 5 lockscreen mod in it.

I have tried out on G-Note. Not working properly, it installs, but due to high resolution, some themes are not working ( showing small icons etc.), thanks any way for your work.
go locker suits me the best.... using it for more than 20 days , better than the stock lockscreen
Go locker has a issue when using headset and changing song threw headset button, it refuses doubble clicks, so you end up pausing the song all the time, no fun..
Works well this, I have made the default MIUI lockscreen 'English' and changed some of the wording and how the date reads to read more, erm, English
Just unzip and place in the themes folder of the MIUI folder on your internal storage.
Not all themes work, but there are plenty which do... I have ICS theme working perfectly on my note...
