Yes, it was adam holden

lulz... "real" gps at 9.99 a month. What a steal.

I like how the Captivate is running Windows Mobile

Why is the USB door open?

ha yea if gps even worked on these phones

Wow, that looks ****ty. I'll stick with Google Navigation and pinpoint GPS accuracy thank YOU very muchh!

Might be another reason to stay away from OTA updates. They might try and throw windows mobile on there

HaHa! Why I love AT&T

lol!!!! thats funny. adam holden gave me real gps!!! not AT&T

All the phone crap aside.... AT&T Nav runs circles around anything I've ever tried on my devices. I've been using it for years now (it started as TeleNav which it still is just re-branded) and it's accurate, easy to use and up to date. In 5 years at least I have NEVER been lead astray by it.

Have you compared to the Google app? Because I'll never pay for it if is the same thing as the Free app.

Yes, here is the short list...
Nav voice is much better and more realistic on ATT Nav
ATT Nav doesn't "jump around" when sitting at an intersection etc. Meaning... it's more accurate.
Better routes, which I attest to better GPS intterpritation. i.e. I live on a dead end road and sitting in my driveway ATT Nav always tells me to make a left out of my driveway (which is correct) Google Nav tells me to make a right, go down 500 ft. and make a u-turn.
Can't speak for Google on this one but I can search, update etc. my routes on the TeleNav site and then later sync with my phone and vice versa. Doesn't sound that big but looking up a 5 stop trip on my laptop and setting it up is much more appealing to me than on my phone.
I rely on GPS a lot so ATT Nav is my choice. If I didn't rely on it I would probably just use Google as well. My original post was kind of in the same vein as yours above... have any of the people who posted that ATT Nav sux used it?

I used Telenav when it was free on Sprint (I had the simply everything plan) and it was quite good. 10 bucks a month? meh

Instead of paying gAyT&T $10 a month, save your money for 8 months and buy a GPS unit. Much more accurate, and you can take and recieve calls, and use your phone while a GPS unit guides the way.
AT&T has stolen enough money, no way in hell I'm giving them $10 for something the should be free.

Never once had an issue with accuracy and updates with GPS on any other android phone running 2.0 or above with Google Navigation. In fact, I never have an issue with my G2. No Jumping, no wandering down every side street parallel to the street i'm on at all.

What they don't tell you is to buy an external bluetooth gps unit for the captivate for a real experience.

What should I do now with my crappy?

Well I upgraded to the sgsII. But I have mixed feelings about what to do with my trusty cappy. No one in my family wants it and none of my friends around here have atnt...
I dont know if I should sell it or keep it as a backup. It seems like just a waste to leave it sitting around in the box. Besides it's basically a brand new phone (2 week old 11.02 built/refurb) Never has been messed with. (Roms) No blemishes or marks at all. No sleep death or gps issues. I just got it replaced due to a crappy gps.
Should I be able to get at least $200 for it if I got the ebay route? I have everything it came with plus a otter box commuter.

Does it mean they fixed GPS issues in newer/refurb captivates? Could you confirm what build is safe, or what to look for? I might pick one up for mom.
same situations except mines is older. mine just sits on my desk. thinking about using it like an ipod touch or something. how much would this go for anyway if we were to sell? no one has answered that except to give it to them for free.

It's a refurb that I got 2 weeks before this posting. 10.12 built.
Ive been trying ebay with a $200 buy it now. comes with everything, and a otterbox commuter etc.
Only people that seem to be bidding are from Russia, Ukrian. They have fake ebay accounts with us address but they cannot checkout thru a non us paypal. It' seems to be a 99% scam. I might post it here in the market if this continues to happen. I hate it. I even have like size 7 font in red telling them not to bid etc lol
I would really love to see a developer that makes a media player rom. Basically what I'm thinking of is an ipod touch like u.i. so I can keep my cappy around as an awesome storage device/mp3 player/wifi only browser after my upgrade.

Just give it to LOSTLOGIC. All in favor?

What OS are you switching to?

Since mobile flash is going away and that means the death of Android, what mobile Os will you be switching to?

Nothing is going all that fast but it has been known for almost 2 years now that HTML5 was going to replace Flash eventually. For alot of reasons mostly, because the Language is more flexible and allows dynamic interaction with media, less proprietary tags and is a smaller data size. But I fail to see how flash (or the lack thereof) has any impact on Android since Android already currently uses HTML5 now.

Or maybe you could actually make a useful contribution for once, at least once every 1500 posts. There's enough clutter and nonsense in these fora already, someone that reminds everyone of said state falls very close to being part of the problem. But I guess it's ok as long as you never get out of the Transformer section and think of yourself as of a witty, handsome boy.
I'm just trying to learn and understand. No need to be snarky as the only rule of xda is to be respectful. No need to be so nasty. If you didn't have anything to contribute why did you even post in my thread?
I think you're pushing closer towards becoming a troll but I'll play along.

It doesn't. How many times in the past month have you used Flash on your Android device? I'm betting not many - Flash is nice to have (and the plugin is staying on the Android Market) but there's no loss in not having it. The thread you link to is pure hyperbole as well.
I use flash on my tablet almost every time I use it, I prefer to have the desktop functionality of full web pages rather than using less feature full apps. A good example is YouTube, although I sometimes use the app because its easier to use, I love the functionality of the full YouTube web page and therefore watch most YouTube videos in the browser, in flash.
I dont really mind that they have stopped development of flash, so long as I can continue to use the current version on my device until it is no longer needed (i.e. when HTML5 starts to appear instead of flash on most websites).

Wow....that bagphone is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy moly

I just got a Captivate about 3 days ago, and WOW I LOVE IT!! My friend/brother got it from his real brother (they traded stuff) and I traded him a 4GB DDR3 stick of ram that you can get on newegg for $20 . I thought this thing wouldn't be able to do up to date gaming and stuff AND I thought that there wouldn't be able to do alot of rooting/installing custom roms etc..... but wow was I wrong. This thing has alot of choices available to it for roms, and I can play games like Real Racing 2 easily . I'm also glad to have an android device period to finally have a portable linux device and a pmp (which is what I wanted an android device for) that supports FLAC. All In All this thing ROCKS! I never thought a phone through at&t even if its made by samsung would be this badass
Cool story bro...

Like me lol, I just used my GPS to get to a friends house (he recently moved there) and had no issues . Speakers work beautifully and everything else is ever so amazing. I have had boot loops and whatnot... but I'm still fairly rusty/new to installing custom roms. I only have CM7 atm because it was a REALLY easy tutorial to follow on the wiki
Lol. Im on my fourth captivate. Traded 3 in under warranty. 2 for gps(gave up on that), 1 for random shutdowns, and if this one was under warranty, I'd replace it because the speaker goes in and out.
I guess some people are lucky. Or maybe I'm just really unlucky.

I've had mine over a year and the only problem I've had was my speaker quit working but they are only $25 and so I bought a new one. No random shut down, no freezes, nothing.
Yup, captivate is awesome! I've had mine since 2010 and it performs beautifully. I honestly think I could go 1-2 more years with it before getting a new phone. Always took good care of it so I have no issues since I acquired it.

The only random shut downs on my Captivate have been kernel related, my GPS has always worked as well as any Captivate GPS works (wonky at best, but functional), and I've never had my speaker stop working. As b-eock said, not everyone has the issues some have, you also have to keep in mind that forums attract people with problems - there are many more out there walking around in the world with Captivates in their pockets that work just fine.

Total t mobile noob here.....

So i just switched to t mobile from verizon and there i was tethering something like 60gb a month with no repercussions. So when i moved i got the unlimited everything and i know that doesnt count for tethering. so i decided to see what would happen when i tried.

Question is, where do i see tethering usage? or have i gotten passed it with running a custom rom? Or are they going to nab me after a month or so?

thanks man. got it and it shows that i have been using the tethering. Just what i wanted to know :good:
I think I've heard of other carriers looking into it if they notice an unusual amount of data. At which point they would charge you for the data you used or terminate your contact. However T-Mobile doesn't have contracts anymore, so. . . Not sure.
I think they mess with that though. I have about 1GB used every month for hotspot. Even though I have never used it. Not even once. Called a rep and they were just like "Uh yeah that's uhhhhhhh really weird".
I have 500mb of tethering but I used about 2.5GB just tethering last month (about 3.5gb total) and haven't gotten billed anything extra.

I've never heard of anyone on TMO getting billed for tethering after the fact (the onus is still on them to stop it at their own limit), but they sure throw the upsell page in a hurry. Also, I wouldn't be too shocked if they begin killing accounts that deliberately abuse their terms of service. (That is to say, tether-cheat at your own risk, no whiners when you get busted).

Sorry, thats what I meant. I've never seen that screen that people are talking about. Probably because it's a Nexus and all the previous phones I've had all had international roms on them.
They definitely won't terminate accounts without notifying people. As long as people don't use like 100GB a month, I don't think they really care too much.

Well the good thing is that if they start to get worse, I can just leave and not have to pay anything. Tmobile isn't the cheapest carrier around, so if they become like ATT or verizon, it's as simple as paying the final bill and canceling the service.

When it comes to tethering over the limit, who outdoes TMO? They're the best value (not necessarily cheapest) for speed, customer service, and policies...it may sound cliche, but they ARE shaking things up. More power to'em, I say.

Absolutely. They've been really good so far, I was just saying if they turn into one of those "other" carriers, there's really no reason to stay. Hopefully they keep doing things that other carriers were too scared to do. :good:

That's because no one knows and it hasn't even been made official although everyone knows it's happening. My guess is, is that it might not even be available in the US.
There's a post on Sammobile saying there will be "limited quantities" of it due to production costs of the 2K display.
I'd buy it again..
Buy a new device whenever you need/want it because waiting for the next great device will never work by the time that device comes out the next great thing will again be on the horizon and the cycle continues..
Oh I've been through the cycle and back. Lol. Good to know that the reports are vague at best. The last thing I want to do is use my upgrade now and then find out that a better version of the phone is coming out in 2 weeks.

That's how it usually happens... I hate that **** too
The answer is simple, if you think you will want what's in the ''prime" more then the reg s5 what's waiting another Month or so? If the s5 is good for what you want, then why wait?
I hate to say it, but ive never been more disappointed with a phone than with my s5. Battery isn't that good compared to my g2, it's slower than my s4 as far as unlocking and opening the camera, the fingerprint scanner is garbage for unlocking the phone. The camera is great in bright and dark situations but lower light it sucks. I do however like the look and feel, which is weird because most people talk about how much they hate it. Also why hasn't samsung implemented auto-input in the keyboard, it's 2014.
