So I came across this option to enable the "puzzle lock screen" from the recovery "advanced" menu. I remember when I flashed my first rom (the luna theme in my sig) the puzzle lock screen had overwritten the default "slide glass" one. however, since then, I haven't seen it at all. I tried enabling this and rebooting, but still no lock screen, can anyone clue me in?

The only time I see the Puzzle Unlock screen is after a missed txt or call. Other that that its the Slide. Not sure if that might help narrow down where to look but best I got.
The Slide it seems is there to Open the device completely and the Puzzle Screen seems to only come up if there is an Option of two choices (Usually two puzzle pieces to pick from). Open completely or Open Phone or Msgs.

Sorry, after I wrote my post earlier I realized I should have specified this up front. What you're describing is the stock lock screen, and that it still does (when i miss a call/recieve a text).
What I'm referring to is; after I flashed clockwork and my first custom rom (luna), the normal "glass slide" lock was replaced by a new lock screen, that just had one puzzle piece on the left and you dragged that right to the open spot, so it was WAYYYYY easier to get (you only had to slide like 1/4" of the screen total) but I haven't had this come back at all since that first rom, but it does give me the stock puzzle stuff (missed call/text)
What I'm wanting to get rid of is that horrible "slide glass to unlock" screen that you basically have to drag your finger across the entire screen to get to unlock.
I do realize there are apps for this (i've been using GOTO lock screen) but I'd rather not have to work around it like that, and I want to know what is intended when "enabling" this "puzzle lock screen" from the advanced tab in recovery.
This is one of the things that I'm (slowly) working on. I've got something that is a little more pressing on the plate right now. If it starts working, you'll want it more.
'nuff said Thanks for all your time and effort with what you're doing!

I am there with ya. if you figure it out let is all know. Would love to see a one handed solution.
I also came a crossed this today, have any advancements been made?? Thanks
It stopped working after EB16, was working fine in EA11 with themes that supported it.. The only way to get it back right now is to go back to EA11.
EB16 is much much smoother and until phidelt82 releases the fix for it, I for one can put up with it..

I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the "menu, menu" feature to unlock the screen? I keep unlocking in my pocket and I don't like using the pattern lock to keep this from happening.
Any ideas?
This is something that's been tried to be reverse engineered in another thread (back when we first got this forum). Sadly, I don't think we ultimately made any progress on that one beyond "wear loose fitting pants"
I haven't tried it yet, but I remember reading somewhere that you can apparently do it by rooting the phone, using a root shell to make the filesystem read+write, then deleting the apk file that contains HTC's keyguard.
Caveats:
* I read it in a thread that pertained to the GSM Hero, so it might not work on ours (HTC might have done something ****ed up, like wedge the CDMA thunking layer into the same file... doubtful, but not inconceivable).
* You might also have to reflash to 'Fresh' or some other 1.5 custom ROM.
If I can confirm that nandroid will also back up my phone history and text messages, I might give it a try later today. In the meantime, someone else might be elaborate more.
^^^ update: actually, I think what I just described will only eliminate HTC's annoying & worthless "slide to unlock" function. I vaguely remember a post from Diane Hackborn (one of the top Android devs @ Google) that menu-menu is *meant* to be impossible to disable, and is intended to be the equivalent of ctrl-alt-delete. However, I think her comment was made about a year ago, and it's possible they've since mellowed out a bit with 1.5 and decided that it's ok, legitimate, and (in fact) necessary to allow a keyguard app to override everything, since otherwise there's no way to truly keep the phone safe in your pocket.
In any case, if you can get the slide-to-unlock disabled, you can then use a thirdparty keyguard app (at least one of which seems to be able to successfully intercept and prevent menu-menu from unlocking the phone).
Update: Success!
I rooted my heroC, remounted its filesystem as rewritable, deleted /system/app/HtcLockScreen*.*, then installed LockBot. So far, so good.
I originally experimented with LockBot a couple of weeks ago, but ended up removing it because it destabilized my phone & didn't work reliably -- more or less because it fought with HTC's lock screen for control, and usually lost. With HTC's lock screen now gone, it seems to be running PERFECTLY.
Tip: By default, Lockbot enables the iPhone, Hero, AND Eclair unlock screens, and changes them seemingly at random. To get just the one you like, you have to launch its controller app, click "My Theme", then de-select (gray out) the star icons for the ones you don't want. Then, go back to the Lockbot admin screen (with the lock and android) and hit 'menu', then click config. You'll probably want to uncheck "Unlock Menu" (otherwise, there will be things you can accidentally launch without explicitly unlocking it first), select "Full Screen", and make sure it's Enabled.
Bigger tip: if it asks you whether you want to go to "Home", "Sense", or "Lockbot (not recommended)", the right answer for a CDMA Hero is "Sense".
Assuming I don't discover any new "gotchas", I'll be upgrading to the pro version before the end of the week
OK, make that "almost working flawlessly." I rebooted before going to bed last night, and discovered that HTC's keyguard had moved itself back to the front of the line. In other words, I'd press end/red/power to wake it up, then had to press 'menu' twice to unlock, THEN had to rotate Lockbot's dial to finish unlocking it.
I was able to make it work properly again by disabling Lockbot, pressing red/end twice (to return to home, then sleep), pressing red/end to wake it up, pressing 'menu' to unlock it, relaunching Lockbot's control panel, and re-enabling Lockbot.

Yeah, that's not HTC's lockscreen, that's the Android default. I've got the latest version of lockbot (Pro) and it seems to be working great.
From time to time when you press the home key it always goes to the lockscreen but it fixes itself.
Pro is definately worth it because the Flan (or Froyo) lockscreen is awesome.
This is more of a question then a problem. I am running Vegan but have also seen this behavior when I was running TnT Lite. When I boot my G-Tab I seem to randomly get two different lock screen's. Sometimes I get what I call the "iPhone" lick screen that looks like an iPhone. It's in portrait aspect and has a slider the if you hold the G-Tab in landscape must be moved from top left to bottom left. (Note that it's sideways when you hold the G-Tab in landscape)
The other lock is the Vegan lock where it's 2/3 of the way to the right side when holding the unit in Landscape aspect. It's got a lock slider on the bottom that must be pulled up toward another button the looks like a speaker.
It's not really a problem to unlock the G-Tab either way, but it has me curious since it seems random which one you will get each time you boot. It's even more off that I get this on both Vegan and TnT Lite.
Any Thoughts?
Hi kmclaren,
I'm sorry that no one responded to your post. I am also using Vegan, and also wondering about the screen lock slider. Actually, I don't need that feature, and I'm trying to find out how to disable the screen lock, so that I don't need to do the slide motion.
I believe there is a program called "nolock" that will eliminate the lock screen
Sent from my Droid using XDA Premium App
Hi, this is my first post as I only recently got my Infinity after getting a refund for my Prime. Presently I am running Stock ROM with Jelly Bean and it is rooted but not unlocked.
After the Jelly Bean update I noticed that while on the home screen I could longer change from screen to screen by touching along the edge of the screen instead I had to do the swipe action in order for it to change. Here's a picture to show what I'm talking about:
http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...c2a86d1cf64/508863d2/1/4/2/8/0/0/9/Screen.jpg
Those red boxes are the areas that when you normally touch along there the screen switches either to the left or right one. Strangely, after a fresh boot up it, touching those areas works but as soon as I go into the menu area and return back to the home screen it no longer functions. Also if i should rotate the tablet to portrait and then back to landscape the ability to do the touch returns until I go back into the menu again.
Anyone else having this problems? Any idea what could be wrong? I did 2 factory resets with no help. Help, Please!
Thanks.
Oh I don't know. The people here, maybe? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917222&
There's this bar at the top right of the screen. It says "Search". Clicking the gear behind it allows you to select the TF700 forum only. Please use it, people here have little patience with those who do not search first.

Sorry. I did search for this problem first but I only looked in the Q&A section as I didn't think It would be in the General Section. Thanks for finding the existing thread. Hopefully there'll be an update fix for this soon.
Does anyone know how to change which apps are shortcuts on the lock screen? Currently, I can drag the lock ring right to unlock, up for phone, left for camera, and down for text messaging. I'd like to replace the down shortcut with Google Voice.
I am running the JB soak test with root.
Thank you!

I asked the same question at androidforums in the Photon Q section there. From the answers I received (or lack thereof), my guess is that they can't be changed without changing the lock screen altogether. Apps like GoLocker (which I believe requires GoLauncher EX also be installed) or WidgetLocker (a paid app) will do the trick, but if there is a way to do it with an out-of-the-box phone, I have yet to find it.
Since I'm here, I'm wondering, does the Photon Q have the ability to turnt he lock screen off? as in, you can set the phone's home screen or whatever you were last doing to come up when you hit the power button to turn the screen back on, instead fo going tot he lock screen. I would assume that ability is retained, but since Moto apparently changed the lock screen, I wonder if they removed that function thoughtlessly, as some are known to do.

yes you can set the phone up in JB to have no lock screen. Hit power button and return to last screen viewed.:good:
This popped up on my phone today. Its a dark tab kind of thing that sits on the side of my screen. Got an option to activate it (which i did) and now its sitting on the edge of my screen. Basically a quick way of searching google. It sits in front of everything and goes transparent after a while. I can slide it up a down and between sides of the screen to reposition it. A long press pops up options at the bottom to hide it or turn it off.
I cant find anything about it online yet. Does anyone else have it?

Got the same today, Huawei P30 Pro using Nova Launcher. Great little feature, seems nicely integrated.
