Sense - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Maybe stupid question, but i couldn't find answer.
When i will copy all sense files and framework-res.apk with some of apps and jar files from /system/framework folder from 2.2 hero or legend custom rom to 2.2 rom in my spica will it work??

Probably not. Why not try it though and see?

It will not work.

reconstructing rosie.apk for android 2.1

http://depositfiles.com/files/aji72anj8
this is the rosie.apk file, i replaced the images needed and i changed a few XML files.
i dont know what im doing, just playing around with things. my goal is to get this bar at the bottom instead of the regular senseui bar
ill upload a screenshot of what this new rosie.apk looks like. its getting there, i just need a little help. eventually im gonna compile this with my custom framework-res, htc.resources, and some other files to create a themed 2.1 rom. any help is appreciated.
the rosie.apk works with sanpeis, ive been testing with his rom using adb push. if anything goes wrong, just push the original rosie.apk from sanpeis rom and itll work again..no worries..

Stock (1.32.651.6) with root. Deodex and odex available (06/10/2010)
What does deodex and odex mean?
This is the correct file I am looking for right?
By TrevE from the DamageControl ROM post:
Deodex basically takes the odex file and stuffs it into the apk as a classes.dex. First boot it dissembles the file into /dalvik-cache (i believe). Now there is basically 2 copies of the odex, one in the apk one in cache. This makes it "portable". This allows modders to work on the apks & easily change stuff. If you want themes or stuff like lockscreen fixes you MUST use Deodex.
Odex is how things come stock. It takes up less room but making modifications or taking apks from other roms is hard. You cannot use themes with this version!!

Help needed for UOT Kitchen

Does anyone know hoe to make themes for gingerbread in UOT Kitchen?
When it comes to "file upload", I dont know what to do.
Please help.
If you have a gingerbread ROM then you have to unzip the ROM file you flashed and go into the folders (/system/framework and /system/app) To find the 2 files it requires.
If its froyo then only the frameworkres.apk is needed
The files are found within the zip file of the ROM you downloaded

Thanks. That seams more complicated then I thought.
Its actually really easy. What you need to do is get the rom you've installed and if its gingerbread, get the framework-res.apk and the systemui.apk and upload those files.
Then once you've got the zip file from the kitchen, you will also need to get the update binary file from the rom too and replace the one in the zip from the kitchen and then put it on the sdcard and install from CWM.
It may sound a little daunting, but once you've done it once or twice it will become second nature

[MOD] Battery Icon Mod for Stock 2.3.6 ROM

Was bored today (read: avoiding doing work), and quickly had the UOT kitchen give a better battery icon. Nothing fancy.
If anyone wants the zip, feel free. Also attached are the necessary files to make your own mods in UOT kitchen (if you're running the stock 2.3.6 rom).
....and now I guess I'd better do work today.
Without CWM (on stock 3e recovery), how's this installed? Can't install non official samsung zip files with 3e. Also, stock ROM is odexed... can i just rename/delete SystemUI.odex and replace my SystemUI.apk with this one? Or does it have to be pushed with ADB?
Good question! Wish I knew how else to install it without CWM. You might be able to change out the files, but I honestly don't know. Anyone out there know better than I?

easiest way to install without cwm is to have root explorer extract all the files in there which should be (framework-res.apk) and systemui.apk . once extracted and in your phone sd then you have to drag it with root explorer to system/framework for the framework-res.apk and for systemui.apk to system/app but before u do that you have to fix permissions by bringing them into system folder then fix permission and then move it otherwise you'll see forecloses like no tommorow and you're done. but if your rom is .odexed its not possible because of .odex scripts it'll mess up your phone like whoa ..anyways enjoy
permission to fix in the box are like this..
Read X X
Write X
Other X
This is stock 2.3.6, so it is still odexed...

I'm on the stock 2.3.6 ROM which is odexed. I see in /system/framework there is framework.jar and framework.odex. And a framework-res.apk with no matching odex. In /system/app there is systemUI.apk and systemUI.odex. So, to avoid a FC shii storm, I should:
1) put the OP systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk in /system and fix permissions...
2) then move systemUI.apk to /system /app folder.
3) move framework-res.apk to /system/framework folder.
Do I need to delete my current SystemUI.odex or leave it? Not sure if OP's systemUI.apk is deodexed or odexed?
Secondly, do I do anything with my current framework. jar and framework.odex files?

Sorry, but it won't. But you can make your own using uot kitchen (online) for themes. Though I have read that some of the personalized ROMs don't play nice with UOT...

ive not tried anything with .odex but it doesn't work as far as i know and yah some roms that are personalized have uot problems but just follow up with devs of those roms they can fix it up and all for ya.
I can confirm that it does work with odexed roms (since it does work with stock 2.3.6).

Thx for confirming... so back to my questions above.. do i need the systemUI.odex file or does your systemUI.apk combine both? Also, do I do anything with the framework.jar and framework.odex files (or just replace framework-res.apk with yours?)

The framework and systemui files posted above are originals (I posted them in case someone else wanted to mod it themselves, so they wouldn't have to extract them themselves). The zip file is the new icon materials from UOT. Not sure how to directly install it (I've only ever installed from the zip file myself)...

I am missing something
I tried installing with CWM and following DoctorQMM steps to the letter (even learned all about fix permissions) but no matter what, my phone locks up and just flashes after the install and reboot. What can I try next?
Running stock 2.3.6 ROM on an AT&T i727 that i rooted just now this is my first mod

[Q] Unable to find SystemUI.apk

Hello all, I'm new to XDA Developers (in fact I registered 5 minutes from creating this thread) so I'm not really sure if this is the right section. I have an HTC Evo 4G with Warm Twopointtwo as the ROM (cyanogen was buggy). I have recently decide to build my own ROM accustom to me. When using kitchen UOT, it prompted me for 3 files, one of which was SystemUI.apk. The file is not in /system/app. I scanned the development folder I made but no SystemUI.apk was found. I searched the phone with a root explorer with no finds of the missing SystemUI.apk. If I must use the stock ROM to get my SystemUI.apk, where would I get the stock ROM? Thanks.
The SystemUI, is located in these two folders. (IT DEPENDS ON THE DEVICE).
/system/app
/system/priv-app
