How the heck do I access files on my SD card?
I've done some googling and some searching here on the site. The closest to a solution I've found is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936979
But that still doesn't help. Where the heck is the info on my SD card? Actually I can't even see any of the contents at all on my SD card.
I'm rooted and running Vegan 5.1 Rom if that matters. Thanks guys.
I don't think you can. I am having same problem running same ROM. I may try TNT out here soon.
Just picked up mine yesterday.
EDIT
I think I said the wrong thing.. you should be able to browse the card as nunja said, but I can't view card info or format. I may be missing something. I still LOVE this G tab so far!
Thanks for the reply. Wow this blows. That's weird.
What I did just find out though is that using the Root Explorer app (which you need root rights for) I can see the contents of the external SD card (contents are under SDCard2). I have a movie on it. Problem is I can't play the movie from SDCard2. I suppose I would have to use the Root Explorer app to move the contents back and forth between the two storage devices. That sucks.
Running same ROM, I have no problems browsing to mine with ESfile or root explorer. I have a few dozen albums of MP3s and a few HD movies on there and play them all day.
The files have the correct icons for the media players that play them. I just click the name of the file and it plays.

Sweet Mary Lou!!!! After a lil more research I found out that the app ES File Explorer will not only allow you to see the contents of the SDCard2 (external sd card) but it will also let you play/view the files on it.
So....go grab the free app ES File Explorer.
I use this app for windows at this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885429
to access my external sd card, it works great with the wireless adb app in the market. It uses adb so you need to be able to see your device with the android sdk. There are topics on here for getting adb working if you need any help.
Great thanks for the heads up. The ES File Explorer app lets you see the contents of the card while it is in the G tab, while using the G tab. That is actually what I needed. I have no issues with popping the card out, popping it into my PC, dragging and dropping files on it and then putting it back in the Gtab. I just needed to access the card from the G tab.
However, I do need to familiarize myself more with adb so I will follow your advice. I think that will make my Android tinkering even more fulfilling. Have the Droid X now and can't wait to get my hands on the HTC Thunderbolt. Long live Android!! Thanks.

Actually, funny you should say that. My brand-new 16GB SDHC card started giving me fits on the stock ROM so I put it in a reader on my notebook, reformatted it and flashed VEGAn on my Gtab.
Worked flawlessly ever since.
Just loaded up custom TNT rom and can access external MicroSD in settings. I am going back and forth with VEGan and this custom 4.2.1.

I'm trying to play some WMA files on my microSD card, but I can't add those folders to PowerAMP. Any way around this, or any other apps that can?
I don't use it , but I just tried PowerAMP Trail and no I could not see /Removable either. You should email the developer and let him know. It was the same thing with a "fresh" install of Quickpic 1.1.3. I emailed him and in less then 4 hours he had a fix
Guys,
I contacted PowerAmp through the built-in feature and got reply within less than 24h. They sent me a new build of the app (380) and the Removable/MicroSD is now supported. However, I asked them again to add the Removable/SD directory for people who want to use the dock SD card.
I'll let you know if I can post the link to the apk or if they will make it an official update.
Max from PowerAMP is still working on including all removable media (/MicroSD and /SD) and will have an update in the market shortly. Apparently he does not want the beta build to leak so we all have to be patient!

I'm not sure if he updated it on the market yet. He sent me (and others) a version to try. The version number was the same,1.1.3. I see videos and pix on my /Removable with the version he sent me. All my vidz are .mp4's if that makes any difference.
I'll test the one on the market when I get home.
No He didn't updated it on the market yet. 1.1.2 did let you pick /Removable. 1.1.2 was a little difficult (for me) to find. I found it in rom on here some place.
EDIT: I don't know if you want too, but 1.1.2 was inside this rom "pinpongs-rom1.3.zip" and the installer name was "com.alensw.PicFolder-1.apk". I tend to do things the hard way lolol.
Got word from the PowerAMP dev this morning that he will post the update in the market today. However, to complicate things, I sent him info about the mounts when both USB ports have devices attached and both card slots are occupied as well All they need to do really is to add /Removable and sub-directories to the selectable media.

Quickpic 1.1.5 was just released.
I stopped using poweramp for this reason, I have just installed it again as I am a Full version user, and I can confirm that its working with microsd card support. The only thing I'm now disappointed with is the notification. When you use the built built music player you see that there is music playing, you click and then you are given buttons skip prev and pause/play.
i think im gonna email the developer and see if he can do that.

He already knows. Yesterday I sent him the mount info with everything connected (both USB ports, microSD and SD card). All they need to do is add the /data/Removable directory to the selection He's working on it!
Can someone please tell me how there getting PowerAmp to access the Removal SD Card. I want to move my music files off the SD Card but the Removal card is not found in the availabe folder paths.

Are you talking about the SD card on the dock or the microSD in the tablet?

To start I would like to use the music folders on the SD Card on the tablet. But knowing how to also use any attached storage on the keyboard which I do have would be appreciated.

I was able get mine to work using Partition Tool Kit and choosing SDCard0 as the mount point not extSDCard.
I want to thank you for this app. But I'm a noob and can't reply in dev forums. Might be why you have so few replies. Just saying.
Anyway it took me a while. First to download the application, requiring that I install another browser. Second to activate the app. It didn't show up until I must have rebooted. Then the app didn't do anything. Both Win XP and Win 7 saw two new drives but they told me to insert a disk into them. Until I accidentally SCROLLED down showing the list on the nc to where it says CONFIRM.
Today I installed music. What a pain. It doesn't show up either and there are no settings to tell the music player where to go to find the files you just place on the sd card. Plus the sd card isn't the sd card. You need to mount sd(4) which works while sd(2) and sd(3) requiring formatting? Don't figure why one skips 2 and 3 and goes to 4.
I finally found the media manager to get the music player to find the files. To bad menu on the music player doesn't do that as that is where I looked first.
Overall cyanogenmod on the nook color is cool. But its a pain that only a noob might enjoy. Not ready for prime time. Which is a shame as ipad is.
Lastly I realize that I could have used dd under ubuntu to move files. But then I'ld have to boot ubuntu, plus research how to find the sd card and figure out what its called.
This is my first tablet so please forgive these dumb questions. I've been spoiled for years with CM# on my phones so I'm having a hard time adapting.
Is there a way to force apps to use the MicroSD card when saving? Example: In Dolphin HD, you can set your download directory. It defaults to "/mnt/sdcard" which is internal memory. I want to change it to "/Removable/MicroSD" but it keeps telling me that path is not available and to pick another. I googled a bit but all they tell me to do is save to internal then copy to external. I know I'm going to get tired of that really soon...
Some apps allow me to save to the external card. I set K-9 to download attachments to the card and it took the path but when I actually save an attachment, it says it's successful but I can't find the attachment in either internal and external memory. And yes, I did confirm I typed in the right path.
Any suggestions?
TIA
I don't know if this is the issue, but ASUS has decided to mount the external memory cards under a directory in the root directory ("/Removable/microSD" and "/Removable/SD"). Have you rooted your TF700? Most other systems I've used (the SGS2 primarily, and the LG O2x) had the external cards mounted under /mnt/sdcard/(_)External_SD, or under "mnt/emmc" as is the case under CM#. It might drop down to not having write access to these directories (although that'd be strange and never encountered efore on my devices, at least)...
EDIT: under Opera, for example, I can save an embedded image on XDA on the external microSD and I can find it with Total Commander (and open it with QuickPic).Still, I'm rooted.

Thank you for the reply. I haven't rooted yet but plan to do so this weekend. I'll see if that makes any difference.
as for reading from the card, yes, I can confirm that I can do the same - anything I put on the external card, my apps can read from it. I just can't seem to make apps write to that card, only internal.
Thanks!

You're welcome. Indeed, I meant that I can save an online image using my browser of choice onto the external memory. That's what seems to be the bottleneck in your case.

Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I can confirm Opera works as advertised. Seems to be the only browser that can.
Stock and FF do not allow custom download directories
Dolphin HD didn't accept paths to external memory (and won't allow downloads larger than 2GB )
Chrome didn't allow downloads at all :crying:
Thanks again!
Hi... not sure if this is the correct area to post this, sorry if it isn't. Looking for some insight on some SD CARD issues.... been on Google all day with no luck. Here's my situation:
Recently bought an Asus HD Pad tablet. I read that the max card it'll hold is 32 GB but also read of people that have used 64 without a problem. Since that was something that I was able to do on my tab 2 I went ahead and bought a Kingston 64 GB SDXC. Before formatting to Fat32 I just placed it in and it was recognized just fine, with the full storage amount available and everything. Yesterday I started putting some movies on it but even though the files transfered fine once I went to the tablet they were there but the movies wouldn't run, like if the files were corrupted. From there I assumed I was not gonna dodge the format to Fat32 so I went ahead and did it...I transfered 3 out of 5 movies fine but when trying to add the other two I would gt the error saying that the properties of the file couldn't be transfered. I read up a bit and learned that FAT32 is a bit more limited as far as transferring certain properties from files than NTFS. So I formatted to NTFS. Put all 5 movies and they worked just fine. After this I decided to transfer about 8 gigs of music and some pictures.... they apparently transfered fine but when I go on the tablet and access the music and pictures folders it says NO FILES Are in them. I go to storage info and it does reflect that the 8+ gigs on music and pics are beige used but the file explorer show the folders empty... the movies are still there. If I try to delete the folders from the tablet I get an error that it can't be deleted or permission denied (depending on which file explorer I use). If I connect back to the PC and click the folders I get an error saying the folder is corrupted and can't delete them either. I'm getting the feeling that the SD card was not working flawlessly from the get go but would sure appreciate any input, suggestions, ideas, etc... also wondering if it might be because the SD card size is too big for the tablet.
Thank you and sorry about the long post!

This issue you're having is definitely because of the size of the SD card. Most devices are not made to accept such a large one, and I bet you anything that if you get a 32g SD card, it'll work perfectly.

Yeah that's what I thought so.... question.... you think there might be a way to "shrink" those 64 Gb down to 32, so that the tablet thinks it's a 32?? just to test if that takes care of the problem before buying another SD?
thanks

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, there is!
I don't remember exactly how to do it, but I know this much - first, you need to put the empty SD card into your device. Then, boot into ClockworkMod. Navigate to the Advanced submenu. This is where my memory gets a little fuzzy, but I think there is a "Repartition SD card" option or something like that inside that submenu that, when used properly, can be used to completely resize an SD card.
I did this a good while ago, so that's why I don't remember that well, but hopefully it will work for you.

ok thank you... will do some research on that!!
Long time reader, first time poster. I have learned alot from here, and I am hoping to learn a bit more.
Ok, the stats:
Polaroid Tablet model P902/A900
Android version 5.1.1 (Lollipop?)
Firmware 1.0.3
So I started this journey by rooting the tablet. KingsRoot did work for this, (a file I leaned about from this forum).
Now I have a rooted tablet, so far so good.
What I am trying to do is improve the way the tablet uses the micro sd card that I bought for it, 32mb. Well with in it's size limit of 64.
Here is the problem. It recognizes the card. But I can only get files onto it by manually copy and pasting them. There is no system option given for moving files to the sd card, pics, audio, whatever. Now my phone has options to move files to sd card, heck it will even move some apps to the sd card. This is what I want to do for the tablet because the internal storage space is limited. I have been told that tablets cannot do this. I guess I am asking if that is true. My phone can do it, why not my tablet? I have tried a couple of apps to assist me with the sd card, but have not had any success with them. The ONLY way for me to use the sd card now is to go into file explorer and copy and paste. There has to be a better way. Please if anyone knows a way to teach this dog a new trick, I would apreciate it. Thank you for your time.
