Looks like your only option is to wipe and reflash whatever rom it is youre using... However, you did post this in the wrong section, and some people tend to get anal about such things...

Almost sounds like you were using an Evervolv rom [happened to me when I was on it.] But what rom are you using? I suggest doing a clean wipe and installing the latest google apps.

I don't think it does. I don't think normal wiping in recovery wipes the system folder. That's what I read once. Might not be true, but I don't see it say "WIPING SYSTEM..." in Amon RA when I tell it to format. It does data, cache, and sd .secure, I think, but not system.
Edit 1: Oh, and I'm one of those people who are anal about where you post things. Have you never been to a forum before? CLEARLY there is a questions and answers sub-form under the Supersonic main forum section.
Edit 2: I just realized who I responded to. Barnacles, I'm guessing you know better than I do since you actually helped develop the ONLY stock Gingerbread ROM for the EVO that's out right now.

[Q]Reflashing s7 from cm7 and app install problems

So I flashed the unofficial cm7 build from the dev forum meaning I now have blue Cwm instead of red that I used with s7. What steps are required to reflash s7? Do ihave to use sgs kernel app to reflash kernel then flash s7?
Also I'm having issues restoring apps with titanium. The "stock" app installation screen doesn't allow me to choose install, only cancel. Does this issue stem from not having done a factory data wipe? The thread I read only mentioned to format the system disk but I don't think it was written from the perspective of having come from s7.
Mad props for any help
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
Yes you will eventually have to use SGS to flash a kernel. Maybe this is the long way around but when I flashed back from cm7 yesterday I used sgs kernel flasher and followed the instructions for infused gb. When I flashed the kernel it got stuck converting partitions to ext4 (probably because they were already in ext4). But I did a battery pull in the middle and was back in red cwm. After that I flashed infused again without hassle with infusion core b. That being said, as long as you have red cwm, you should theoretically be able to flash whatever rom you want.
So in short : just follow the FULL instructions to flash infused v2. Then flash s7. Hope this helps

Thaanks! Will try this if my reflash of cm7 doesn't fix issues....do you think my app install problems are stemming from a previous install?

Hmmm...well out of habit I always personally makes sure I format everything, wipe the dalvik cache, fix permissions and wipe the cache partition as well. A lot of the devs stress that this is necessary so I wouldn't doubt that your app install problems are from a previous install. Something tells me, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, that when you are going from a voodoo enabled ROM like infused or s7 to a ROM like cm7 that doesn't use voodoo lagfix, you will have issues with trying to get your apps back because they were using a different (but still similar since they are both EXT4) file system. This is just my guess. If anyone could elaborate more on this please do.
I would highly suggest flashing back to stock if you still experience issues or even ultimate unbrick so that way you can get a clean slate. Maybe try using apps2sd. I own it and can verify that it works well. Many others have also praised it. Good luck!

i went and did another install of cm7 before i ultimate unbrick back to stock. i figure out the app install problem; unknown sources wasn't checked...very noob. but the promt at the beginning of titanium caught me off guard and i cancelled before i could read it.
i, too, noticed that my app icons were intact on my desktop after the s7 to cm7 flash but most (if not all) those that did not require root would force close upon opening. reinstalling the app worked, but i had to get them from the market at the time as my unknown sources box was unchecked. also, i've noticed that widgets do not reload after reboot.
one more thing, after the second flash of cm7, i noticed that flashing gapps only provided me with the market. others such as email and talk were available for dl thru the market but weren't loaded from the gapps flash. i tried multiple times to no avail.
i'm about to ultimate unbrick and reflash cm7 from stock. one more last thing, i'm fairly comfortable with red cwm but have only encountered blue with cm7...how do i wipe the dalvik cache?
thanks for the help!

When using TiBu, make sure and restore apps using the "restore all apps with data" option, just did it coming from S7 to MIUI and worked fine.
As far as Gapps go, I downloaded them from the Cm7 wiki and installed them manually from blue CWM just to make sure everything was added and it worked for me.
Dalvik is in advanced just like red CWM, just a different color.

the "system data" is the no no, and "restore missing apps" is the preferred option, but I've always avoided system data and have been fine everytime I restore.

[Q] Home and search button stopped responding?

Hey guys,
I'm running the Octane ROM on my SGS4G, and suddenly both my home and search touch keys stopped functioning. However, they ARE triggering haptic feedback (a vibration in the phone when pressed)
Does anyone know what causes this and what's a common trouble shooting route?
I updated my binary in super user and updated busybox...nothing changed.
Also, I don't know if this is related to the problem but it happened at the same time: text msg notifications are permanently as if the phone is on silent; no sound or vibration. Just a status bar icon.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, this phone is my only daily.

Have you rebooted the phone? If so, I'd suggest doing a backup then performing a factory data reset.
Yea I rebooted several times..
could I just wipe the dalvik?
If I only do that, what information is lost on my phone?
Also the update from busy box said it might require I do a package reinstall "without" a factory wipe for the update to take effect... Any suggestions on that?

You could always try wiping caches first. No data loss that way. The Davlik cache will rebuild itself over time.
I'm nto sure about BusyBox, though. Maybe someone else has an idea?
What about the cache partition?
I guess my question is, what exactly are you wiping when you wipe the dalvik and when you wipe the cache partition?
and is it a safe practice for when strange problems like this arise?
Just wiping the cache.completely safe and the first thing to try after a reboot.also I would suggest fixing permissions when clearing the cache

And no factory reset does not wipe sd unless you tell it to when you're doing it from your settings menu

ah, gotcha.
Wish I woulda have tried that before wiping.
Another question: After the wipe, I lost all the fonts that were originally there after I first installed Octaine ROM.
I'm thinking I should just reinstall the package, but I'm afraid I cant remember if I had to disable VOODOO lagfix first and whether or not i still have to change the mounting points before i reinstall the rom..

Glad you got it working though sucks you had to wipe everything. To be safe I would disable voodoo though I do not know if it's necessary. Definitely go into CWM and re-check the mounts first before flashing.
Well, unfortunately, after a full wipe... everything worked fine for one day... then suddenly the phone froze and restarted. After reboot, some apps had the android image on their icon and ALL OVER my wallpaper was a skull and cross bones image...cascaded in rows and columns all over the background..
and ofcourse.. my home and search buttons are non-functional once again...
What does this mean??

I'm running the Octane rom too, and have started having problems with all four buttons, but mainly the outside settings and search ones. Other roms do the same for me now, so I don't think it's the problem. I have fully wiped, reformatted, fixed permissions, you name it.
It dosen't seem to matter what happens, they still resist working properly. So are you saying that doing a wipe/reinstall/permission fix did it for you? I can't tell if it's a physical thing or a software thing, but I'm leaning more toward software.

First you flash 6.75z and reboot your phone and than flash other updates. You don't have to rename anything just select "chose from internal storage" and flash the update.

You are the man! I got everything back, well minus stock calculator but thats not a problem. I also loaded that newish spb shell, its very nice so far, and not a single FC. I owe it all to you my friend.

CWM for root. Quickie.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the help with my previous question. Now that I got that fixed, I have another question regarding Titanium Backup Pro and Clock Work Mod for the galaxy S 4G. I downloaded the key for the Titan. Backup to make it Pro. I installed Titan. backup fine no problem. Them when I try to install the key that would make it Pro, a popup came up that said: "Titan. Backup Pro cannot be installed. Free up some space and try again." Well I searched around and found that I should clear the dalvik cache using Clock Work Mod.
My question is how would I install Clock Work Mod on my device and How would I go about clearing the davlik cache using Clock Work Mod?
Are there going to be problem after clearing the davlik cache? And if further on along the line, I want to flash ROM's, should I clear my davlik cache every time just to be safe?
Thank you for the help if you guys/gals can help out.
First off are you running a custom rom? Or are you running stock?
Is your phone rooted?
I am running stock ROM Froyo. Yes, it is rooted.
I'll have to leave it to somebody else to help. so long since I've run froyo... That I wouldn't know were to start lol... plus at the moment I am driving

In case you are unaware, you cannot use the guide in the first post as Kies mini will not recognize rooted phones.
To be honest I wouldn't worry about all that if you end up going with gingerbread or ice cream sandwich just go for it
Ah, the thing is I'm also interested in Titan.'s other feature's like freezing apps and stuff like that. Add to that the fact that I bought the app already that would make the regular version turn into the Pro version.

If you have bought titanium backup pro you should have gotten a file emailed to you that you put on your sdcard. Once its there just run regular TiB as its the same but the license will unlock other features.
As for keeping data across the different os's I personally dont recommend saving anything but non system apps. If you want to save texts use sms backup and restore from the play store. Otherwise start fresh that way you dont introduce new bugs into the phone.

Gremlin Remover or Heimdall KJ6 One-Click. The reason is they will both flash bootloaders for you. I referred the OP to the Heimdall One-Click guide because of the more detailed directions and pictures.
So I should just flash a ROM like GB or the AOKP Team Acid ROM anyway right and forget about Froyo? Then install Clock Work Mod on my device or does Clock Work Mod come with the ROM's themselves? If I flash a new ROM, will my dalvik cache be cleared so that I would have enough space to install things? How would I be able to save my contacts, just save them to my SIM card and they should be fine right? Would flashing a new ROM take up my phones internal memory?

You need to flash a gb rom with bootloaders if you are on froyo. Otherwise you will be back upset your phone is broke.
A custom recovery is included in all roms. Once you flash part of the instructions are to factory reset/ data wipe in recovery.
Back you contacts up to the sdcard if you dont use google contacts otherwise you wont be able to access them from the ICS variants.
Yes like I stated when installing a new rom part of it is doing a factory reset/data wipe.
If you really do want to stay on Froyo and you want CWM... then this should work for you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099374
But yeah, you should definitely consider upgrading to Gingerbread asap, *especially* if you're wanting to flash custom ROMs later on down the line. Use the Heimdall One-Click sticked in the development forum.
Eollie i bought tb pro and all that's done is it applies as an app nothing different than when you get tb originally from the market
Lol if you do gremlin remover one click you don't have to make an extra step of flashing a cwr kernel.
As I'm aware heimdall doesn't do it

[Q] Notification and status bar gone

I bought a phone from ebay SGH i727 Android version 4.0.4 Baseband version 1727UCLE2 Build Number SkY ICS 4.2E-2 Kernel Version 3.0.8 perf 1727ucle2-cl526987 [email protected]#1 smp preempt tue may 8 kst 2012 (if all this info works). It was at&t device, which is working with tmobile sim. The problem is there is NO status or notification bar.
There is no way I can receive a call on this phone. NO WAY, no green icon to slide, no home key reply - nothing.
My question are below
1. Can I simply do a factory reset, since if the phone is working on tmobile it is unlocked - right? and should work after factory reset.
2. The phone has root access by superuser and a few more apps that make me think that it may have been a software unlock to allow at&t and tmobile sim ONLY. Is that possible, and is factory reset advised in that case?
Sounds like it's running sky ics. Im pretty sure the reason the phone is unusable is due to the fact it was already factory reset.
Your best bet is to read the stickies and install a fresh rom.

I downloaded the zip file and ran a rom updater via ROM MANAGER app, it did everything, it took a backup, ran a whole lot of activities and said that ROM is updated. Nothing, there is no status or notification bar, there is no change in the phone details from the one posted above.
I just want to be able to ANSWER my calls as of now. I hear a call sound but there is no way to pick up that call. The only way is to see a missed call notice in the wallpaper and then call back.
Don't use rom manager, use recovery.

I was just apprehensive and had read good reviews about ROM manager, so I downloaded a custom rom via it and installed the CyanogenMod Version 9.1.0-Skyrocket
As of now, status and notifications seem to be working fine.
Thank you for all your help, hmm maybe the next time I will try something via a non - interface way.
Thanks again.

By the sounds of it, you should read the stickies as suggested before flashing roms.. sounds like you used rom manager to flash the CM version? Wouldn't advise that in the future and probably lucky nothing bad happened if that is indeed how you did it.
Need any help, feel free to pm me.
