Hi All,
Had the Nexus about 3days and loving it so far, but it doesn't recognise all the music I put on there, only select things, but yet other android devices recognised the same music that this isn't, any ideas please?
Kind regards.
What file formats are the music files that aren't recognized?
Hi There,
.WMA's by the looks of things.
Regards.
Just noticed that they aren't supported which is frustrating, oh well, have to get the converter out. . .
pretty sure there are music apps that can recognize .wma. Maybe winamp and poweramp.

Ok, so i really would love to fix few problems in pocket player, namely, there are a few of my songs just not playing for some reasons, they are mp3 just like all the others ripped from their discs just like the rest but just wont work, any suggestions?
also, the library seem to have a problem in common with WMP, at least for where i get songs ending up in unkown albums or artist (in wmp i also get multiple albums with the exact same name under the same artis when they really should be one album)even though they are put in the correct album/artist in my computers wmp library.
Please any suggestions what might be wrong? I have put the music on the card several times both by the phones link cable or the memory card plugged directly in to the computer.
Also feel free to suggest any good free media players, mortplayer is good, but i cant seem to find a way to get it to work in landscape mode so... otherwise its great with its changer mode and all...

TCPMP is another option, but will be good to know which ones you already tested so we can help you better
Ive tried,
WMP
MortPlayer
Pocket Player
S2P
this far pocket player is my favourite axept for the stated problems (and it could really use a change mode, switching album when the current ends), though mort is perfectly fine, except for the lack of landscape mode
(as for those few songs that wont play in pocket player, they play in the other players ive tried)

Well we are advancing
Try one of this ones then:
winampaq
gsplayer
PocketMelody
Core Player
PocketMusic
Simpletunes
Sounds like your problem is with the files, not the players.

I think you´re right mate, perhaps the problem is how they are organized...
ok ill try those out, but if its the files that are fault isnt it strange that pocket player is the only player of both mobile and pc ones that wont play it? the others from the same discs play without problems
Can Pocket Player play AAC files?
I'm sure before I did a hard reset on my Xperia I had it playing those files. Maybe I am wrong, but it seemed to play everything from my iTunes library but the protected files, and now it plays only mp3 not m4a.

Yes it will play AAC files.
As far as not seeing or playing the other files, it could be the encoding/ripping that was done. What program did you use and how did you tag the MP3's? That will have a great impact on the result of Pocketplayer seeing and playing the files.
I personally love Pocket Player and will use nothing less. There are a lot of great apps out there, but PP has everything in it including the kitchen sink.
If you would like to try and re-rip some of your CD's I recommend you use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) with the lame format. You can google EAC and lame's latest download. Then google EAC setup and you will find a few great reads on how to set it up perfectly for what you want, even AAC if you desire.
Just my two cents.
I've had problems with songs not showing in the library or being shown in another album or artist. This was due to missing correct data in the AlbumArtist tag of the files (songs). I just updated these tags for all my songs and the library now displays them correctly. Also, some other files, like small wavs will not be included in the library if you have checked the HIDE SMALL FILES... option.

btw, I've also devoted an entire article to these q's: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415063
My Pocket Player did used to play my m4a files, but since I did a hard reset and have installed the latest version of Pocket Player when I load up an album that is in m4a file format, it wont play. It shows them, but wont play them, exactly as if they were protected files bought from the iTunes Store, which in the case they are not.
I've tried going back to the old version of Pocket Player, but the same problem now happens there.
I've used Missing Sync for Windows Mobile on my Mac to put the files across, and they work fine on Core Player.
It's bad enough that my Xperia wont play protected aac/m4a files without all now not playing... eek...
Upgrading to Pocket Player 4 fixed this problem.

I was going to suggest that very thing. Good to hear you got it resolved.
Hi all,
i've been trying to search for a solution but was so far unable to find one.
I'm running into the following (albeit minor) problem.
When I copy my music to the HD2 and let the Manila audio manager sort everything out, then the order of the individual tracks in the albums are all off, i can't find any kind of order in there, they are not ordered alphabetically or anything, and worst of all they are definitely not ordered according the album's play order as i would prefer them to be.
All the music I put on the card consist of complete albums i also use in iTunes, where they are all sorted as they should be, so they are also tagged as they should be.
Now, i know that both iTunes as well as audio manager use gracenote to get the info and album-art for the albums, but why does iTunes do the trick correctly and audio manager does not?
What do i need to change in the files to get it right?
I also find that, although album art is in the folder after "syncing" with gracenote, some albums just won't show the album-art?
Where do I go wrong? I simply don't like the thought of having to create playlists for all 12 or so gig's of music i have put on the HD2 to get them to play in the "correct" order as i would like to have it.
Thanks in advance . . . . . . . . . . .
Gert-Jan (Crazy-G) Klijn.
I use Mediamonkey to embed the album art in the mp3 tags. Works flawlessly and the Audio manager recognizes everything without problems.
Also have the lacking sort order issue which really sucks since I predominantly play audiobooks and going out of sequence there is a killer. Right now I'm using Mortplayer as it has the cool feature of having two main folders, one for Music and one for Audiobooks. But it would be much nicer in the sense audiomanager, since it looks better.
This has been an HTC bug for years, but only affects WMA files normally. MP3s should be okay.
I'm a big Foobar2000 user, and I have an Android phone (G1 - but it's basically a mass storage device). I'm having big trouble trying to find a good way to sync music with it.
Foobar2000 doesn't seem to have a component to do this, MediaMonkey sucks ass (clunky, few relevant options etc.). DoubleTwist and SongBird are also poor solutions (no artwork support, no Vorbis etc).
So, what is everyone using to sync their portables? I'd love some kind of artwork renaming and resizing too. Oh, and of course, Vorbis encoding.
Thanks guys!
Also before anyone asks - Vorbis artwork is supported in Android by using AlbumArt.jpg in the album folder! Yay!
Not quite what you specified but have you tried Subsonic? I use it to stream all my music over 3g and wifi it's much easier than having to choose what I want to bring on my phone.
I'm using Songbird + mountUSB on the phone and it's working great
P.S.: don't forget to set folder structure something like Artist / Album / files, otherwise your sdcard FS will look messed up!
edit: ooops, just realized you said Songbird is bad.... but why? it has everything you need, and if not, get a plugin for it?
P.P.S.: @ no vorbis support, isn't there a plugin for that? search gave me the following result:
http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Developer/Articles/Media_Cores/GStreamer_Setup/GStreamer_Plugins_Guide
so maybe you should try building GStreamer on windows (lots of work i guess, however)

I use MediaMonkey Gold which adds TONS more options and runs smoothly and efficiently for me. I have no problems with it.
Have you tried Winamp? That's what I use.

Not sure if this solution would work for you, but I just started using Moozone and have been messing with it for the past couple hours now...
It's an on-line storage site for your music (upload your music to their site) and you can stream it from anywhere where you have a net connection. Also, they have an Android app that allows you to upload/download and stream directly over your data/wi-fi connection.
Shockingly, the steaming through the app over the network is really smooth and sounds pretty good!
You can set up playlists and other features...
I'd like to know too I tried doubleTwist.

Agreed, Media Monkey Gold v 3.2, does everything I need! No, I haven't tried the other ideas that you had listed or what others have listed here because Media Monkey does it all for me, it syncs with my phone, and I easily configured it to sync with my Music folder on my SD. The music, the Album art, and much more. I haven't been able to see ratings on my phone, that's not a big deal for me, maybe for you, but I don't mind. If you give it a try again and need help with it, let me know and I'll help however I can.
I've tried a few of these...and MediaMonkey Gold is the best of them. It converts my high bitrate music down to something more appropriate for my phone on the fly. Also handles artwork well too.
Hi all,
Having a bit of bother with music on the phone. I was looking to rename a track (artist, song and album) I had on the phone, but could not find any way of doing it, does anyone know how I can do this on the phone?
Next, figured I could do it via LG PC Suite and add some music at the same time. Connected to the suite no problem, everything else works (photos, video, calender) but when I click on the Music tab, the suite keeps loading and eventually crashes. Anyone else had this problem or know a solution?
If I can't fix this, anyone know another music browser I can use to see what music is on the phone and allow me to transfer files?
Cheers

You can't do that with the stock music player. I use Poweramp from the market and you can edit every tag with it but its not free. I'm sure you can find a music player on the market that is better than the stock one, does what you want and its also free.
Sorry I don't use PC Suite.
Thanks, I'll purchase that or an equivalent.
Anyone know how I can fix LG Suite or an equivalent program I can use to manage music between my computer and phone?
Why not just mount the sd card and use your Windows Explorer (or Max/Linux equivalent) to just copy the music to your phone? You can just make maps on your internal or external sd card and the music will be added to your library automatically.
Well, the title is quite self-explanatory. Years ago, I had a PDA running windows mobile, and its music player had the function of varying the reproduction speed (being able to play music files at 2x and so on). I'm trying to find some music player able to do so, but I am yet to find one.
Can you help me with my search?
Thanks to everyone!
