Somewhere in the android world I have seen a picture of somebody using what appears to be a scrollable app launcher on their screen. This particular one was rounded and was on the side of the screen. Kind of like half of a rotary clock dialer, but instead of numbers it was apps.
Thanks for any ideas you have as to what I may be talking about!
Sounds like circlelauncher ...
Its half rotary cause the launcher is in the top, if its in the middle it will be full circle

That's not the exact one I was thinking of, but very similar.
The one I remember seeing I believe had a grey background and was only halfthe circle on either the left or right of the screen.
This one will work though if I can't find the one I was thinking of, though the one I remember looked better IMO. But it's possible it was just a particular rom feature.
Thanks!
Yeah...its pretty cool. It helps keep my screens uncluttered

Bah, I just went through a few hundred pages of google images to see if I could find anything...
I tried searching through every combination of app widget scrollable circular android launcher dock vertical horizontal I could think of. Am I making this up?
If I am, does anyone want to make one?
It kinda sounds like the wonder wheel feature on slickui b
it its not available yet
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
not wonderwheel either :/
it's closer to this, if it was scrollable and ran more along the left and right sides of the screen.
Netfront life screen, one of the home replacement apps i reviewed on hubpages
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Just tried out netfront for a minute, and it's actually a lot more then I had wanted (very cool concept though) if I hadn't just bought adw ex the other day I might have kept it for awhile.
I'm beginning to think I imagined this whole concept. Thanks for all of your efforts though, seriously do appreciate them.
There's also a carousel widget one.

Is that ultimate faves pro? If so, I was hoping what I was looking for was an actual widget and not a home replacement.
Small bump, still haven't found anything like I was remembering.
Would anyone be interested in making something like this?
It doesn't have to be curved or super fancy, but I'd love a widget (say 3 columns wide or 3 rows long) that I could place any number of apps into and scroll through them.
Of course after it gets made then it could be fancy, if somebody wished.
Not thinking of smart taskbar are you?
No it wasn't that one. Sorry for the long reply I thought I had this thread set up for notifications.
Hmmm I wonder if I just dreamed this.
I believe the app your talking about is called Clutch Pad by Steve Albright, it's available in the market for $1.99. Also, if your looking you something similar, but free, I'd recommend either Circle Launcher or SwipePad, both of which allow for launching apps without using the standard launcher.

Look at the clock / weather widget combo, that's awesome. One of the (slightly) few reasons I love my HD2. Why can't something like this appear on Android devices, something like this would ROCK on the Evo.
Why would you want 3 clocks? I've seen widgets a lot like that (for android), I think it was beautiful widgets.

Yes, the redundancy is very overwhelming.
Beautiful widgets, you can even clone that if your up to the challenge using the available tools.
But as the previous posters said, 3 clocks? OCD much?
something like this?

can't add outside links, apparently I'm a new user.
beautiful widgets has several skins and you can add your own. IMO its the best clock/weather app you can find.
I don't mean the analog clock, although it's still nice. I meant the look of the whole widget, beautiful widgets looks cheap, at least the weather animations do :/

It is completely customizable, 100%, create your own and make it look the way you want it to look.
And there are a few dozen different weather animations, from silly to amazingly real.
Obviously you do not have it yet or you would know this, but its worth the few bucks.

Hey everyone. I saw NXCDesigns Incredible green neon clock theme. He has it on the HD2 for download but how do I port it over to my incredible?? Thanks.
Link would help
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
While I did port it over to Fancy Widget, that is no longer allowed here. I haven't messed with the HTC flip clock for Android since you have to modify the .apk, resign it and if it doesn't sign right afterwards and you install it, it will fudge up your original widget.
with that said, i'll give it another go this week sometime
I assume you're refering to this one since you mentioned it was available for the HD2/TP2

wow that really looks amazing. how would i get the fancy widget version of that? im on a vanilla rom so no sense. but what exactly do you mean by fancy widget not being allowed here?
edit: nevermind a quick google got me what i wanted. nice work though, i shouldn't have it but still. looks great. i do intend on using this till whatever it is you plan on doing to get something similar but allowed to exist haha. but good work and good luck!
I was lucky enough to receive the .apk

I'm glad to see i got some fans
here's the original screenshot for the one I made for Fancy Widget
but yes, in a nutshell, Fancy Widget is banned from here because it was at the request of HTC that it no longer be allowed, main reason is because it uses the same exact graphics and weather connect coding as the HTC sense clock. HTC wants to keep sense on HTC devices only so thats another reason why, which i don't blame them.
the other widget you should check out is Beautiful Widgets, i made 3 clocks on there for download, while there not as nice as the sense clocks there just as close.
@superchilpil
by any chance, can you tell me where you got that quote from?
Thanks alot for your replies! I love your work on that screenshot above. I did in fact see your widgets for Beautiful Widgets but I really haven't found one to match this sort of style. I do have a copy of fancy widgets .apk installed. I do know it is banned from this fourm but maybe outside of this fourm we could exchange emails about it. I am a noob with android but do have good computer skills.
Thanks alot!
ive got the ok from a mod to post metamorphs for fancy widget themes, but explicitly no posting apk's
although i tried to do one and i had all sorts of issues (reboot and the widget is gone or not installed...among some other things that were very strange) so im not really sure its worth screwing around with

Wonder what damage it will do to the battery though!
So they caused the delay for 2.1 release. Probably they put hours in making this one and thought that it will all be wasted/
Now we all testing the battery.

Besides the animated wallpaper I don't see any other reason to choose this over ADW. Does anyone know if it's possible to use the wallpaper without having to run this launcher? In other words, can I use the live wallpaper with ADW?
Really really nice.
I thought live wallpaper is only supported by 2.1 and not by 1.6 ?
Anyway the "one and only" big reason why I´m waiting for 2.1 is the change of stupid lock screen on 1.6. Doesn´t work sufficient enough for me. I tried some lock-apps too, but no app was "much better" than the original one. On every call I have to hope I can unlock the screen. But this one in this pack works perfekt. Thanks for sharing.
Only good point is live screen..ADW is far better..

well it's available only for japan... better late than never i think the apk is modded...

can somebody mod this to get only the lockscreen?

Yup, I got that too.
When I'm receiving a call it reverts back to the old lock screen, and when I'm done with the call I'll have to first unlock the default screen, and after that the AmbientTime one. Is there any way to force the AmbientTime lock screen to be used when receiving calls? If not, I guess I'll have to stick with ADW.
In the first post the wallpaper is very colorful but mine is simple! why?
I bought the EVO on its first day of availability after having owned iPhones for the prior three years. One of the things that immediately bothered me was the inconsistency of icons. While there are many great icon designs in Android I prefer a simple consistent look for them.
I put these together some time ago for my own personal use with no intent on releasing them. Therefore, I did not document instances where I either borrowed elements from other icon designers or recreated the design of icons I had seen in the past. After receiving so many requests to release them I decided I'd track down the original artists whose icons I recreated or borrowed elements from... Unfortunately, due to my hectic work schedule that just has not been possible. Therefore, I simply removed the icons I recall as not being original and will add them back as I get around to getting the blessing of the original artist.
In the interim I have made available all the other icons I put together. In total there are just over 200 with a number of alternates for select apps. Hopefully, there is nothing in this pack with borrowed elements, however, if anyone sees something I missed please point it out and I'll be happy to remove it. Once I get around to getting the blessing from some artists whose designs I borrowed there will be another 50-60 icons added.
Now that that is out of the way... I present my fellow XDA'ers "Vitamin Droid." It seems everyone has a name for their icon pack so I figured this was as good as any. They are clean, colorful, crisp, and square. Below is a preview as well as links to zips of the icons. Bear in mind there are two zip packs. One of them is for all the icons in a 140px size and the other is for the icons in a 70px size. They are identical in all aspects except for their size. I created them in 140px to be somewhat future proof as higher resolution screens continue to be released.

Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I know there are a variety of methods for doing it including Metaporph but, I am not really familiar with them. I changed the icons within the apk for all my apps so that they would also be themed within the App Drawer.
Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will come along and make an iconpack out of these.
That said, I am going to put these into a MIUI package this week which should be significantly easier for those running MIUI.
thanks so much, your icons look great
Using a custom launcher like launcher pro or adw. You can touch and hold on the screen and press custom short cut and go on

I havn't found a browser that I like 100%. I like Dolphin but I want something a little more clean/simple. Thats why, yesterday, I thought of making my own in photoshop (for now).

So, that would be the main page. The three dots next to the Google logo would be a drop down menu for switching search engines and including others like Wikipedia, Wolfram-Alpha, Yahoo, ect. The icons at the bottom are from left to right: Home, Tabs (like when you do a home screen view on Sense/Launcher Pro/ADW/Go Launcher), Back/Front (Can be used on websites or tabs), Bookmarsk, Options.
The whole thing would also go into full screen mode and the top and bottom navigation bars would be brought up using the menu button (optional).
Again, very simple. At the bottom you have your main operations. Sort by (most viewed, alphabetical, ect.), Edit bookmark names/urls, and batch delete.
This is options menu. Options are seperated into three categories, Display, User and Misc.
I just realized that I forgot the enable/disable toggles (duh).
Anyway, this is pretty much my dream browser more or less. Im still working on some other things in photoshop.
Let me know what you guys think.
By the way, I got most of the icons from here...

Not sure what you mean by that. If I used the native style of Android wouldn't it be just like the stock browser? Therefore, it would be pointless in me making one?
Im by no means a professional UI designer so im probably misunderstanding what you are saying.
