App Store
Please be advised that a software update is now available that provides access to an Apps Store directly from your G Tablet. Owners of the G Tablet will receive an automatic notice of the new software upgrade. Users can then simply click on the Apps Store icon from their G Tablet to gain access to 1,000's of leading Android apps. (Please note that the automatic notification requires that the G Tablet has WiFi Internet access upon power-on.)
Adobe Flash Support
The Viewsonic G Tablet hardware and firmware provides full support for the Adobe Flash Player built into the unit. At the time that the G Tablet was manufactured, the Adobe Player application was not available for this product. We anticipate that a version of the Adobe Flash Player Application will be available by December 19, 2010. Owners of the G Tablet will receive an automatic notice that the plug-in is available for download to further expand their web access and entertainment. (Please note that the automatic notification requires that the G Tablet has WiFi Internet access upon power-on.)
anyone get the appstore update?
None here to report
(no mods)
If this is an OTA update, most likely none of us with mods will get it -- it's probably getting pushed down via the TnT OTA service. They might push down an update.zip and then do a reboot into recovery to run it. If that's the case, we might be able to intercept the update. Maybe.
EDIT: I called CS (I love 'em, they are a great bunch to talk to, in all seriousness). Sounds like the update is ready to go and it sounds like it's an OTA update. Lots of bug fixes as well as their App Store, which sounds like a web site of some kind. It may have been pulled at the last minute but should show up this weekend or early next week.
It also sounds like the new shipments to Staples are part of the reason for getting this out so I hope that means they will work overtime to get this out ASAP. We will see.
Ignoring the terrible condition at launch, the update came pretty quickly. Hopefully we'll see more updates.
No update here and I registered my unit right after I got it.
I wonder if there is anything we have to do to get the update?
Update process?
IS there anything that an enduser needs to do to recieve the update? If it's OTA does it ask before it install that update? I keep checking their website but they don't seem to view it as a communication tool. Those poor CS people are about to get swamped I guess

The site is a portal for pocketgear and apps linked there for download. Apparently all "compatible" with tablets. Since a near-full market now works for the Gtablet with the framework data wipe trick, I will wait for you or Roth to post some magic from the official update

Where did this information come from? There's no reference to it on their support site and if you go to pocketgear.com it's still not a device you can add.

I got my update Thursday night. My tablet posted a notification that I had an update available, I clicked on it and it downlozded. It seems to have fixed the clock loosing time, their market app now works, the update icon was changed, wifi seems to be more stable and reliable. They also seem to have addressed the storage card issues, but it still does not recognize my microsd card installed. It sees it but I haven't found a way to access it yet.
Downside: they screwed up the default home page. The three windows are now blank waiting for data. I have not been able to add or change any thing on this screen.
I am running stock tablet no mods.

I don't have any mods on mine either. I have the same software installed as you except I have not installed Flash.
Still nothing on the update here... no notification or anything. I sure hope my registration went through. I saw where somone said they got an email after registering, I did not receive an email.

I did not get an email either. This may be a stupid question but did you try to click on the update icon?

That's my goal - I want the update just so I can mod it into TnT Lite 2.00. Right now I have a vanilla config on my device and I'm waiting it out.
I have a feeling that we won't see the update until Monday, but I hope that I'm wrong.

They told me that there was a UAT period where the CS reps got the update on their test devices. Perhaps they don't have an actual UAT side and they added it to their production infrastructure instead which would have allowed a few consumers to get the update? That's my guess.
Can you check your kernel version? I'm curious if they sent a new one. Also, do you have an update.zip in the root of your /sdcard and, if so, can you post that? That could be the actual update that they sent down.

Yes, that is the icon to update. Just got off the phone with support. The update has been pulled until 11/22. Allegedly there were other things to be included and they wanted to release it all at once, that's what I was told anyway.

Bad decision on their part - better to have an interim update now and another early next, unless there's a nasty bug in the interim build.
A lot of shoppers will be out this weekend and they really need that firmware update NOW.
EDIT: Added a new thread - I felt this was important enough that it was warranted.

Since I got my G yesterday, I have not seen the App Store anywhere on it. Here is the update I have on mine:
Tap UI Update
Current Version: Flextronics/harmony/harmony/:2.2/FRF91/hudson-20101023-135552-TnT_SVN_2638:user/testkeys
I registered my product this morning (2 hours ago) and haven't received any emails confirming registration from VS.
I do have wifi on at power-on.
Purchased it at Sears outlet for $279 of which I think is a steal just for the hardware.
I am still completely stock - no OTA update yet for me either. I did not get any sort of confirmation email when I registered...the screen just said "Thanks for Registering" and that was it.

Not being released until 11/22. Flash is not in the update.
Mostly stock g-tablet, and no update. I will see what happens on 11/22.
I never got an email reply when I registered my device. Since some here have said they got a reply, I did the registration again. Still no reply.
Just looked and this is new

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me!
I had a Titan which I successfully updated to WP7.8 earlier this year using the 78er tool. Unfortunately I dropped that phone and smashed the screen but my insurance company just sent me a new handset so, naturally, the first thing I did was attempt to update to 7.8 again.
I realise now that I should probably have let the default WP7.5 ROM fully update through Zune before running 78er but, alas, I did not. Now, since updating to WP7.8, some aspects of my phone's functionality are working fine but other aspects are not.
For instance I cannot access a variety of settings: the WiFi menu, the accounts menus (email, Facebook, etc), the lock + wallpaper menu, mobile network menu and others. Every time I select one of these nothing happens.
I don't know what to do to resolve this - I cannot re-run 78er as it tells me that it has already updated, so I can only assume that I need to flash an earlier (stable) ROM and then re-run 78er again. But, I must confess I don't know how to do this.
Something that puzzles me is that the OS is otherwise operating normally.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks.

RESOLVED!
After some searching I discovered that this was due to my selecting the wrong language during the Seven-Eighter update (I selected US English instead of UK English). It seems this is quite a common problem and the solution was to use Cab Sender to send the relevant UK English files to my phone from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
I had to start from the first update and work my way through. It didn't start working until I had updated to "WP 7.8 OS UPDATES (7.10.8779.8 - 7.10.8779.8)"
Patience is necessary!
Hello
I am new to this forum and though I build PC's and write some code (albeit in VBA / SQL), I have no past experience of Android and hence the call for help!
My situation: I have a Sony Xperia T (LT30p & NOT rooted) which I recently upgraded and so now stands at Android 4.3 and Build 9.2.A.1.205. Like most I use it to access emails and for this I had 3 email widgets on my desktop(s), 2 of which were gmail 1 for private emails and one for work. The latter at some point called me to update the Device Policy and that is where many things started going wrong.
In short, after the update for some reason the email widgets stopped working, I deleted them to re-install, only to find they would no longer appear on my desktop (..?). So I decided to reset the phone to the factory settings. I copied all my documents across to a PC and pressed reset... only to remember that I had not backed up my contacts/sms list!
The phone now works great, the email widgets are back on, but I have no contacts (unfortunately I had not backed them up on Google, etc). So for the past few days I have been looking for a way to restore them and found an app that promises it will do so (MYjAD Android Data Recovery, or if you know of a better one please do advise!), only it needs root access to do so!
I have found places that advise 'single button' rooting, but they do not cover my build version. I have looked at various posts here at how to do so, but I will admit I am getting lost! For example even looking at the '{ROM}[STOCK][T][JB 4.3][9.2.A.1.205] Official Firmware - Rooted&Deodexed 03/04' thread here, what is a CWM, a dalvik cache, or PhilZ Touch? Moreover, what is an FTF (so far I understand this as a way to login in unrestricted mode, though unsure exactly what benefits this would have) and I am assuming it is different to rooting (which I so far believe would make the user a super-user, so would have unrestricted rights too), so why would one have a rooted phone with locked FTF/bootloader? Am I loosing the plot, or what?
All that aside though, what I really would appreciate is someone explaining is easy and detailed steps how I can root my phone (or even better how I can 'undelete' my contacts/sms lists?!!) so that I may try to recover what I have rather foolishly lost!
Many thanks
...alternatively could someone please advise where I could find a listing / thread where it is all explained in a bit more detail?
Thanks
Hello,
I have a lg ls775 and under the user security certificates there is one called sprfw01. I have no idea why or what its for. Im on the sprint network. Is there a way i can inspect the cert or atleast figure out whats using it? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thnx guys!
Could this be from pairing my phone with some device ie. Smart watch or another phone?
Its actually under User credentials. Hope that can jog anyones memory as to what this may be.
I'm currently using the same phone as you and on the same carrier, and just noticed this user credential the other day as well. I didnt recognize it so I deleted it. I'm afraid I cant tell you if it really affected my device as it was already giving me some issues before I deleted the credential. At the time, and again today, I looked for the same answer as you and haven't found any additional information on it, so I can't be much help with exactly why it's there or what put it there.
However, I may be able to help put your mind at ease since I did happen to do a factory reset today and even though I deleted it before, it was back afterward. So my guess is that its not dangerous. (again, thats my opinion, hopefully someone can confirm if I am correct)
Some details to that lead me to think it's safe:
My LG G6 isn't rooted, and was not before the redo. (so technically nothing should have been able to reinstall it that was nefarious)
I didn't install any potentially shady apps when I did the factory reset ( at time of writing this, just a few big name apps from the play store, no random restored apks or anything like that).
I pulled my SD card out before the wipe and haven't put one back in yet, so that rules out something left over on there working itself back in somehow.
I allowed google to "restore" my most recent backup it made, but the most recent backup was AFTER I removed the credential so it shouldn't have been on there (google backups seems to restore very little anyway, and requests all backed up app downloads from the Play store) .
I have connected it to my home secured wifi.
No bluetooth connections yet.
No sharing to any devices or NFC usage, etc.
So from all of that, I believe it is either a Sprint thing, an LG UI thing, or something specific to the LG g6 model, and built into the factory settings. That's just my thoughts, but I thought maybe my experience might make you feel a little more at ease. Hopefully someone can reply with what the heck it actually is though, because little things like not being able to figure out the source of this drive me crazy even after all of that.
Just an update, I was looking through my LG V30+ and found the same credentials stored on this device too. No additional details on it's purpose were really gained from it though. Picture attached.
"User Credential" "sprfw01" also on LG ls 775
I saw the same thing and I searched "sprfw01" . I was wondering what it was. I also have this "User Credential" on an LG ls 775 on Sprint.
Passwords Saved Credential
I did some research into this and what I see is it's a credential from when you saved your passwords for an example unlock screen & any passwords like I have to specific websites.
Jusy my thoughts...
*Any good unlock or root for the ls993?
Hello, fellow hackers! I am the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S10 and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019 Edition). However, I've been having problems with updating my tablet, and after uninstalling a whole bunch of apps, this has made it where I can install the system updates. Apparently, one or more apps have some sort of bug that affects the OS and causes it to not update.
In my quest to figure this out on my own, I was wondering if there was an OS update log or list somewhere stored on my devices. Since they are not rooted, I would have to pull such a file using ADB, but I can do it. This would be useful for my S10 too, since I am considering installing some of the same apps to it.
I know about logcat, but the output is far too lengthy, and I'm not sure how to get it to focus only on OS updates. What I'm wondering if there is a log or other file which stores information about each time I update my tablet, very much similar to logs stored by Linux or Windows.
Any help on this would be great; I have scoured the web for this, but to no avail. To clear any confusion, no, I am not concerned about when apps are installed and updated, only Android OS updates. This can include minor updates that only update the security of my devices.
I may should point out that during the time that I wasn't able to update, some of my apps hung, even the system UI hung and was unresponsive.
All I want to do is find out about a record of system OS updates. It may help me figure out what went wrong.
Interesting, seems like I posted on this before: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/t510-consistent-lag-and-update-issues.3990799/#post-83194013
Seriously? No one has an answer to my question? Surely there are other logs stored by Android other than what is pulled by adb logcat!
I did discover on my own that there are recovery logs that you can see, but they can't be pulled using adb pull because it says that permission is denied. However, I can view them if I boot to recovery. Would this help me find out what app(s) may have prevented the updates from happening? I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for.
What, really? Absolutely nothing? Never mind, I'm pretty sure I've solved this problem already.
