I have a Droid Incredible and just purchased a Viewsonic G Tablet that is/will be running Vegan. I have purchased a few apps that I am currently running on my Dinc, is there a way to share those apps with my G-Tab or do I need to buy them again? When I changed Android phones all my previous apps transfered over when I logged in with my gmail account, so I am wondering if there would be something simular with the G-Tab.

If you install a custom rom or the performance pack for stock then you will hace gapps installed. Enter the same gmail address that you are using on your Dinc and you will have access to everything. Your purchases are linked to your gmail address.
Would restoring an "APPS" backup from Titanum on teh phone to the Gtab work?

If I am moving to another android phone how do I back up/transfer all the data and apps? One of my friend has Atrix and we both were planning to switch phones for some time to see which one we really like.
Is there something like iTunes where I can sync up all my apps? I am not much worried about data (songs, photos etc.,) but I bought a bunch of apps which I would like to transfer them from phone to phone.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. Can you please help me find where "google sync" is located on my phone? When I go to Menu->Accounts&Sync->Google, there is only option to sync my books, contacts, gmail and calender.
I am very new to Android so sorry if I sound naive.

If I remember correctly as long as you log into your google account it should sync all your apps that you've bought or downloaded from Market. I could be wrong, if so some one please correct me.

When you use a google account for the Market, it will remember apps you have downloaded. It does not however save settings, preferences, cached data, etc.
I ran Android on a Fuze for over a year before upgrading to the Inspire. When Google released web access to the Market, it allowed me to track which apps are installed to which phones. When I switched phones, i jumped on my PC and clicked all the apps from the Fuze I wanted on the Inspire and Google automatically downloaded them to the phone.
If you want the apps and data backed up, you may need a product like Titanium back-up. I used it on the Fuze but since that was rooted, not sure if it will work on the Inspire with stock ROM.
or, if you're taking your sd card with you, you can use an app like app installer by gregory house to back up all of your apk files. or titanium backup does the same thing.
the market always screws me somehow. I purchased apps when I first got it only to find that it didn't remember me buying when I rooted and put on a custom rom. Even using titanium, 99% of my apps restore but I have ran into a few that won't due to licensing. When I go to the market, no record of it at all. I missed how itunes and cydia remembered everything you had. Don't miss the iphone though! lol
I use titanium backup. Works quite well.
Hi,
If I buy an app in the market, Is it licensed for one device or one user?
I have a phone and a tablet, both use the same GMail email adress. Would I be able to buy and install the app on both devices or I have to pay for it twice?
Thanks.

Usually the purchase is linked to your account and you can install it on any Android device that is connected to your account. I installed apps on the XOOM, Nook Color and TF without problems. Think of it like the iTunes store.
However, there are apps that register your Device ID and install only on one at a time. For example CoPilot Live. You need to deactivate one device before you can install on another one.
Hope that helps!
I am shifting from E72 to Atrix 2 and would like to migrate Contacts, SMSes, etc from old phone to new phone. How should I do that?

Ok, so i downloaded the correct 1.1 version.
But after connecting my E72 via cable, it is not being detected by Mobilego app..
If compatible with original phone. My back up root in play store works well with saving apps/data/contacts/etc to sd card and restoring them. I have used it many time when flashing new roms.
When I migrated to Android from my Nokia E51, I sync'd my contacts etc data to google account, and afterwards once android was setup, they got sync'd with my new phone automatically (see http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=147951 for one way of doing it).

1) If your old phone is rooted you can use Titanium backup to backup you old apps and then restore them on your new phone.
2) Backup your contacts on your old phone to your Gmail account, then when you sign in on your new phone they should sync automatically (if they then don't manually sync them in the Accounts & sync settings.)

Where on my old phone can I do the gmail update to get my contacts? Just now thinking do I just turn on the sync?
As far as rooting I did want to root! I wanted to make the epic just a tablet games and music for my little man! Is there a way that is somewhat hassle free? I don't need anything special just games and music.
TY!

It's somewhat different for every phone, it should be under Account settings or something similar to that, then select your Gmail account, and manually sync them. You can check that they're backed up properly by logging into Gmail on your desktop and right under the Google logo there should be the word "Gmail" with a drop down menu, click that then go to Contacts, then make sure they're all there.
Look on the Epic sub-forum for how to root, it's a bit different for each phone. If you're fine with the stock UI on your phone I'd suggest just doing a factory reset and then using it as a tablet, if you wanted some sort of custom interface you'd have to check if something like that exists in the Epic sub-forum. There isn't much I can do to help with this, I've never used the Epic.

kinda pissed the phone doesnt have a sd card! the att guy had me do mobile transfer and got my contacts. but idk how well it will transfer my pics... i dont want doubles.
What i mean is, when i first started on both, i logged onto my google account, im wondering now i have both setup and both are logged on to the same google account. well both have different apps etc, some are the same, does the backup thats created on google for each specifc device, so if i formatted my tablet then re-logged onto my google account, will it only download the apps that were on the tablet or does it make a restore from both devices?
I just dont want to ever end up having to download everything from both devices.
thanks

Only the apps you had on that certain device will be restored back. So if you restore your phones, all your apps you had on it will be installed again. And if you restore your tablet only the apps you had on your tablet will be restored back.
